I drove from Central Texas up to Alexandria, Virginia hauling my car on a transporter. Pulling a car with a 16 truck was definitely a gas thirsty trip that cost me about $350. To rent the truck it cost $1016, Tax and Military discount applied. My only true gripe is that it rained quite a bit and I noticed the rain was getting into the cab of the truck from a seal that was behind me which connected the truck cab to the back of where my house hold goods were. I also noticed that rain was able to penetrate the back of the truck where my items were and wet a mattress and wooden table. Next time I think Ill Have my household goods shipped and pay for my car to be transported. Simply speaking from a cost stand point, it would have been cheaper overall to have everything shipped.

I normally have a good experience with Penske (too Bad Marissa isnt at Alexandria any more).This time, there was an error in estimating my rental. I was surprised by the $100 overcharge. The manager, Simone was combative, argumentative, and cut me off repeatedly in my attempts to simply discover where the error occurred. Understanding a customer is the first step to diffusing problems.While she is correct that I should have read my contract instead of trusting the persons estimations, the person failed to update to the final mileage we talked about. I didnt look at the contract/estimate before as I was completely sure he was tracking my needs. The business took no responsibility in this situation for the human error, or even making a good customer happy.Errors occur....Splitting the difference in human error would have gone a long way toward making a problem turn into a happy customer. I told her she could make we eat the whole thing, and what would that do to the relationship (I rent trucks for various things from time to time).That cost Penske at least more than the $50 in splitting it, just in business from me. Thats not a good position and Id rather do business with people who are reasonable and nice.

I called Uhaul first and they had so many restrictions on where I could pickup a truck and how long I could use it, very frustrating. So I called Penske, and they couldnt have been nicer and much more flexible than Uhaul. Yes, they might be a bit more expensive (pay for mileage), but I was impressed with their service and their flexibility to my constantly changing moving schedule. They even gave me a military discount! I will recommend them to others and return with my business!

Truck didnt have full def tank and there was not an owners manual which would have been helpful. Truck governed at 70 which wasnt helpful when traveling across country, going to and down hills in states where speed it 75 to 80.

I guess my phone may have published a poor rating which was completely accidental. My experience with Penske was excellent.The staff at this location were pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient even with the volume they had to deal with that day. They took time enough to make sure I had everything I needed. The truck was clean, unlike other moving trucks I have used. The dreaded part of moving (renting the truck and dealing with all of that) was taken out of the equation for me by using this company.I can strongly recommend them and I will be using them should any new moving needs arise. Penske Truck Rental, is in my opinion much better than Uhaul, you can rent from the smallest of trucks to monster trucks. If you want to feel like a pro when making a move, Penske is your best move. Ive always used them for local moves, so I can attest to the ease of mind Penske gives a move. When moving your precious items move Penske, home of the worry free vehicle. Im editing my initial review. I initially called these people and had poor customer service and they hung up. I booked with another vendor, but they ended up not opening on the day I needed the truck so I went to Penske since they were nearby. They had plenty of good vehicles at good prices. Their customer service is still poor, even in person. They get the job done, but its glaringly obvious the employees would rather be doing anything else and do the minimum to get by. That said, I got what I needed at a decent price.Original review 1 Star: I called to get a quote for renting a truck and they had to take all of my info before they could quote a rate for the evening. I can deal with that. However, after I told him what I needed and what I needed it for he asked me the exact same questions. When I told him that he was not listening to me he just hung up. Poor customer service.

I have used this location twice and each time has been great. I was a little behind on schedule and they were very accommodating. It’s a busy place yet the reps are working hard to ensure all needs are taken care of. The gps (Google maps) does kind of take you a roundabout way, so just pay attention.

I’ve used this Penske location for two years now when I’ve moved and they’re great to work with! My reservation wasn’t set, and they got it all squared away and even upgraded our vehicle when we realized the cargo van was too small. Great service!

The truck I was given constantly warned me with an open door trigger. Additionally (and worse,) the sensor in the passengers seat was broken, so I constantly got a buckle seatbelt alarm as I drove. Not even buckling it stopped it so I drove with its constant dinging all day.Upon return (15 min before closing) I came back to a locked office, with the gentleman waving me off / pointing to the key dropbox. I would have offered a chance to address it but with the office closed and the message I left unanswered, my only recourse was a review.

I definitely prefer Penske to u haul for all my moving needs. Better prices and terms.

I have used truck from this facility off and on for three years. We are building a foundation in Washington Virginia. The staff goes above and beyond. Extremely professional and they stretch the extra mile always with such good energy. I would never rent a truck from anyone else. They always try to accommodate my every need.

Took forever, cashier was high as a kite, couldnt run my payment as debit and took the deposit 5 days to return when nothing was wrong with the equipment when returned. Wouldnt recommend this place to my worst enemy

I purchased 26 ft box truck and it’s takes long process and unorganized and pure communication with all employees.finally the told me to pick up the I drove from North Carolina to New Jersey the only give me truck key with out any paperwork No temporarily plates still I don’t have almost 1 week there is no one helping me currently I barked the ruck without plates on the street.

The service was wonderful. The people on the front desk are very helpful and friendly. The truck we got was very clean. Everything was functioning as it should be. To be honest though, the store was kind of hot.

This place is absolutely wretched. Zero customer service and employees who let the phone ring for 5 minutes and dont answer. Over and over again. The employee I talked to said that he had to void my reservation because they were closed now (but not when I was calling) and were legally off the clock - which sounds fishy. Are they getting paid under the table? When I asked if I could get the managers number so a resolution could be reached, he said he didnt have it. Who doesnt have their boss number?Avoid this shop. Much better one just down the way.

Yesterday 6/30 we called and got the price of 40 per day and $1.6 per mile. Next day we came back to return the truck and I faced a charge of $530 !!!! When I talked to them they told me that you signed the contract. Yes I signed it without reading it because I trusted Penske and I made a mistake. Apparently they raised the price from 40 to 400 and charge those who trust them, thats how they make money.

The reason I’m giving 5 starts is because off Erenest and James. These two guys where all in helping us load our car before we hit the road. They done more than their job description. I hope the headquarters see this review and give them a raise. They went above and beyond and they are the reason we didn’t go rent from another company. These guys add money to the company is revenue. I’m also sure they do that everyday. Again thanks to Erenest & James.

We had originally booked a reservation through a different truck rental company who ultimately let us down. We were scrambling to find a very last minute rental for the 26ft truck with the car carrier and we were quickly accommodated by Penske of Van Dorn. Between Adrian Aponte who helped with the reservation and the two onsite guys, Mutez Elgak and Hannibal Barake we very pleased. The customer service these guys have given us are next level. We will have a few more runs to make for this move and even though the price is a little higher we will be returning customers simply because of the way they have shown up and taken care of us. Moving is very stressful and you’ve made this part of it just a little easier. Thank you!

I am just so offended for being deceived than anything else. Make sure to make notes of all the names and events that take place because you will end up in a similar position sooner or later.

Horrible experience. Truck broke down and they took more than 24 hours to get us back on the road. Spent several hours in the middle of nowhere. Customer service was the worst experience. One agent said one thing, another agent said another. Would rather pay a competitor more for better customer service.

I want to give a big thanks to Paul for fixing my Penske truck today getting the headlight fix and putting thw rear bumper bolts but in cause it was missing 3 of the 4 bolts from the other rental company I got it from.Thanks Paul a 5star for you.

The customer service was fanstastic during the initial truck rental, afterwards was the shady part. Apparently they charge $8.00 a gallon to refuel if you dont bring it back full. Yes its in the agreement that you sign, yes you should always read things you sign, the part i dont necessarily agree with it almost a 400% mark up on things. After 12 hours of moving the last thing youre thinking about is 1/5 tank of gas. So, remember, they charge $8.00 a gallon for fuel. The most annoying thing in my opinion is the overcharge on milage. We drove a total of 61 miles, they charged for 266. They stated someone made an error and added an extra digit, not sure what digit can be added to 61 accidentally to get 266...so a $300 dollar service turned into almost $700. Leasons are: refuel your truck and basic arithmetic eacapes these people, but hey theyre friendly.
