We purchased a Mini Cooper, drove off the lot, malfunction light kept coming on. Took it back multiple times over a 4 month time. 6th month the car engine light came on. Called Car Max for them to find out why. They replaced spark plugs, still to square one. Now they say we need to take the car to a Mini dealer because it is out of their hands and knowledge.So now we are paying for a car we cannot drive, only having the car for 6 months! Shocked that they would sell us a car that was a lemon! Wish they would do what is right and fix this car or let us out of this deal!

CarMax service sucks the staff was rude They did not honor their contract or what their employee told me regarding a covered warranty part. I will take my car to be serviced somewhere else. I recommend if they tell you something get in writing. They will only insult your intelligence to not honor things they tell you.

Reese was so nice and very helpful! Even after my car had issues they were very helpful in the service department and gave me a loaner and let me take my time picking another car. They honored their 30-day switch with no questions or kickback. I would recommend Carmax and everyone I’ve encountered, 100 times over! Best, easiest car buying experience ever!

Employees didn’t seem to be very enthused about helping me. I walked in and they were engaged in their own conversations. When someone did ended up helping me, they ended up telling me the vehicle I was interested in was not available for another two days. They seemed to lack transparency and enthusiasm to sell your products to a potential customer.

I’ve bought many cars in my lifetime and this is by far the BEST experience I’ve ever had! The sales people we worked with were kind, accommodating, and were incredible as they helped us find the exact vehicle we wanted. We did not feel pressured or stuck at the dealership, which is something that we have always experienced previously. Financing department was amazing as well! They had all the paperwork ready and got us in and out in no time! A wonderful experience overall and we will be back when we’re ready to purchase our next vehicle!

Salesman was nice.They are under construction so it is messy & dusty inside. Not their fault.I have made appointments before at other CarMax dealers for a test drive. They always had the car up front and ready to go. Not here. I had to wait for the salesman to get the car off the lot and wash it before bringing it up. I didnt like that. If you make an appointment the car should be ready to go

My local lot didnt have what I was looking for, so I shopped online. Unfortunately, what was close to the vehicle we were looking for was in the Chicago area 750 miles away. I paid to have it shipped to Wichita and was not disappointed when it arrived. Frank took care of the shipping and Reese took care of all of the purchase paperwork while Frank was on vacation. The entire experience was 100% positive.

Came in to get an appraisal for car. Had back in less than 30 min and was a “more than fair” price (based on blue book value). It was also much higher than another dealership in town. The process to sell the car also took less than 30 min. Would highly recommend.

I walked in to sell my vehicle. They returned about 15 minutes later with an amazing quote, more than the online places and even more than Kelly Blue Book. The vehicle was still brand new though. I still never expected what they offered. Two days later I came in and left 30 minutes later with my money. No hassle, nobody bugging you and every single person was more than nice and helpful. I can’t say that I’ve ever talked so good of a car dealership as I have and will continue to of CarMax in Wichita Kansas. Thanks CarMax!!

Having several issues getting the title. At this point my daughter is driving on expired tags. This leaves her open to tickets, fines and possible issues on insurance premiums going up. When we asked Tayler if we could get an extended tag through them, he said NO, its illegal. When we asked the tag office they said he was lying and its not illegal. I asked him what they were going to do to remedy the situation, he said they would pay the ticket if she gets one. We explained that getting a ticket comes at a higher cost than just the fine. He said thats all he can do. Do not buy from here, once you sign the paperwork and they have the sale they do not care.

I would not recommend this place at all! When it came to getting my tags I received nothing but the round about, my information was sent to a totally different city I made the 3 hour drive to that city and back for their mess up, I spoke with Taylor a “manager” who was not helpful at all and told me they could not help me for 2 weeks when my tags are ALREADY expired and if I for a ticket “they would pay for it” my insurance going up and so forth, the customer service is HORRIBLE and would never ever go back here and not recommend it at all

Services is rude and not helpful. My tire pressure light is always on even when the tires have been checked. Was sold a car they lied on inspection and my whole a/c went out in the beginning of July when it’s beyond hot out. My car was taken to Meyers recommend by them and my car was kept for a week and 3 weeks later still not completely fixed. All this while pregnant and with a 5 year old and it being my only vehicle was a struggle. The warranty offered is trash and you can’t get a replacement car to save your life. I’ve had better experiences at a run down sales place then here. Just a bunch of crooks and liars and have no interest in fixing any problems. They’re service clearly doesn’t have enough employees for them to stay consistently booked or they sale trash cars which keeps them consistently booked so they can never look at the issues personally. Unprofessional in so many ways

Sunday Sept 19 bought a 2016 GMC Acadia from CarMax. The salesman and process was great. Gave a reasonable amount for my trade in as well. Within a couple of hours was on my way home with my vehicle. Unfortunately before I got home the transmission showed its true colors and was bad. First thing Monday morning took it back and they gave me a loaner while they fixed it. On Weds they called and said they need to replace the transmission. Week or so later they called and said while they lifted it they found a large gash in the frame so we cant get it back. They helped me find another vehicle. Found a 2 year newer model in Illinois and they covered the shipping costs. Picked it up yesterday.

Ask for Douglas here at CarMax, what outstanding service!They aren’t your standard dealership so don’t worry you won’t feel pressured and you’ll have all the information you need before your trade in or buy.I love that CarMax offers deals to completely cover the car and me for 5 yrs or in my case up to 150,000 miles. They also have fees as low as $299.99... every dealer I’ve been too has a number topping $1000.00, what a deal!!The test drive was great and everyone who goes through CarMax gets a verified clean guarantee on the vehicle before the test drive. Did I mention all cars come with two keys for no extra fee?I would also like to mention that Taylor in finance really set me up for success with what I needed to finalize my buy. I felt at ease as conversation was light and he went over ever step I wanted more information with. He even went as far as to show me at my currently monthly payment and 6% interest rate what my overall payoff cost for the vehicle would be so I was confident with my own finances before I bought the car!!Overall talk about perfect customer service. I can promise you that you’ll love your new car and experience with CarMax!

Hands down the absolute best car buying experience I have ever had. The staff is attentive but not overbearing, There was absolutely no pressure whatsoever to get the deal done. I can confidently say that I will continue to purchase my vehicles from carmax in the future. If they dont have the car you want here its likely they have it at 1 of their other locations and its super easy to get that vehicle transferred. I test drove 3 cars all of which were shipped in from other locations.

We put a car on hold and they sold it anyway. It wouldnt have been a problem but we REALLY needed a car cause ours is in bad shape, and we drove for a hour to get there with our 3 children. They could have called and let us know we were waisting our time. I guess it all worked out, we stopped at midwest Kia on our way home and bought the same model NEW for the same payment carmax was offering. And the people at kia were nice to work with. Carmax kept telling us they wanted t make our experience seamless. Unfortunately what they meant was to rip all the stitches out and make it painful. So if you are reading this and thinking about buying a car from the yahoos at carmax, dont waist your time. In my opinion you would be better off sliding down the edge of a ream of paper into a pool of lemon jucie.

I didnt even go in to buy a car I just walked in there with a back pack looking like a homeless man with mental issues. I went to the restroom from a long trip. 😂. Nobody bothered me or questioned me. I just walked around looking for the restroom and found it. I was actually there to pick up some CarMax cars to haul them via 18 wheeler. But its nice to not have people on your tail when you walk in. Every one that I worked with to get the cars were cool.

I was so impressed with Carmax and their car buying experience. They transferred a car to me for free from KC, with no obligation to buy. I loved the ease of purchase, the complete lack of pressure, the transparency on prices. The vibe was helpful and kind, not pushy and smarmy like all of the other lots I visited. They have won a customer for life. They even paid for my tags and all the fees involved with that, and took care of it all so I never even had to go to the tag office. I highly recommend this place if you are looking at purchasing a new car.

My husband and I drove to Wichita from Kansas City to check out his dream truck. We were greeted right away with enthusiasm, shown our find and then took a test drive. It was definitely the truck he had been in search of! All in all our visit took about 3 hours and we loved the experience. I purchased a vehicle less than 30 days from CarMax in Wichita. I brought the car to a certified Toyota Dealership to get the car inspected as a 3rd party double-check. The dealership told me that my tires need to be replaced soon and measured at 4/32nds. I contacted CarMax about the situation. They verified the measurement with the shop and said 4/32nds meets their minimum safety requirement for tires. It’s ridiculous that a car dealership would expect customers to purchase new tires on a vehicle they just bought. I understand the chip shortage is putting a squeeze on the car industry, but take your business elsewhere if you can. CarMax is taking advantage of the market and producing minimum standards. I’ve purchased three previous vehicles from Carmax. Never again.

No Bueno, if you do your homework the price of the vehicles in some cases are 3k more for IE ($23500.00) here in Las Vegas, however if you obtain the same car in California and pay the shipping charge from California to here ( shipping charges are 99.00 to 299.00) they are on average $3000.00 cheaper. same car $19998.00....+ shipping (from ca), in addition another dealer is offering 13500.00 for trade in and Carmax 11500... We ended up purchasing a car here and had a relatively good experience. While we did not experience pressure, we also had to wait quite awhile to purchase. We did experience pressure when asked about the extended warranty, which we did get, but can cancel in the next 90. Not only did we wait awhile for a sales person, we also waited awhile in order to pay for the car. More staff is needed!

Absolutely HORRID customer service. No one even greeted us, we went and looked at some cars on our own while multiple workers saw us and said nothing. Sat inside and waited while the employees chatted in their cubbies together and not one person spoke to us the entire time. Glad to know where not to spend my money.

My experience at the east Wichita CarMax was fantastic. I was never pressured, our salesman Efrain was both helpful and thoughtful throughout the entire process. Even when he was swamped with customers, Efrain stopped to give me updates on vehicles until I found the perfect fit. I went to a car dealership nearby, spent 5 minutes in that ugly system and came right back to CarMax. And the ladies in the finance department were wonderful too. Thanks so much for your help. Due to Covid, I ended up doing setting up most of my transaction on-line. The appraisal of the vehicle I traded (sold to CarMax) went very smoothly, with no surprises. I ordered my new car, a 2019 Hyundai Elantra, from another CarMax a few states away. When the car arrived, I was happy with it, but it did have a couple of scrapes on one of the fenders and it appeared to need an alignment. My sells person told me that would all be taken care of and I purchased the vehicle.A few days later, I brought the vehicle in for service and the scratches were addressed, as well as the alignment and replacing one of the front struts. The work was completed while I waited. I would not hesitate to purchase another vehicle from CarMax. The transaction was smoother than about all of my other vehicle purchases.The only “negative” I would address is this:The vehicle I purchased was listed on the CarMax website as having parking sensors. I’d had these on a previous vehicle and it was one thing, along with many others, that swayed be to purchased my Elantra. There were a lot of options on this vehicle and it took a few days for me to realize it did not have parking sensors.I talked with the manager about this and after looking into getting the sensors installed (and I’d have to agree) it would cost way too much for the OEM sensors…over $1000. The after-market sensors would not look correct on the vehicle. The manager offered to get another vehicle for me, but I was already attached to this one. It would have been nice if they could have offered something; extra warranty, free oil changes, a little cash back…something.

My experience with Carmax was honestly terrible. Service Advisors extremely lack in communication. I always found myself calling in to check on my own car several times a week. Advisors tell me that I would be getting some sort of call or update by the end of the day but rarely receive a call back so I would have to call in the next day or so Carmax kept my vehicle for 2 whole months. Initially they gave me the vehicle after holding it for 1 month but the minute I drove it off the lot, the problem persisted right away. I drove straight back and told them about the issue. They kept the car and sent it to another shop for another month and I was the person who had to keep calling and getting updates. I did not even get a call saying the car was available for pickup. I had to call for that information. I am thankful though that they were able to lend me a loaner for the duration of the time my Vehicle was in their possession, but it should not have taken 2 months to get the issue fixed.Pros: Extremely nice service advisorsLent loaner for the whole periodCons: Service advisors so nice, you have to say its fine or its all goodSevere Lack of communicationI would stay away from the service center unless its some sort of express service such as a oil change. Would not recommend to anyone if you have any problems with the car. I only went to them because the car was still under warranty.

I will never deal with Carmax again. This has been my worst experience ever. I purchased a vehicle here and within 2 months it had to go in the shop. Of course Carmax couldnt work on it in their garage, so I was sent to another shop. The other shop said Carmax wouldnt pay for the repairs even though it should have been covered through the warranty and my plan I pay for. Ended up paying to get my car back and none of the repairs were ever made. Carmax wouldnt do anything about it. Well, its broken down again, the parts are on backorder, and Carmax says they will only cover a rental for up to 7 days when the shop they sent me to is saying it may be a month or so before I get my car back. They wont extend the rental agreement and now I have no vehicle for who knows how long, while still maintaining the payment and insurance on it. These people dont care. They will talk over you, interrupt you, and hang up on you after youve been on hold for 25 minutes trying to reach someone.Edit: Yes, the response I got was that they wont pay to cover the repairs, they are not providing me with a rental car, and the extended warranty that I purchased was basically a waste of money because they will not cover a damn thing. Also, you did not partner with management, I contacted customer service and filed a complaint and they reached out and are still useless.WARNING TO POTENTIAL BUYERS: DO NOT PURCHASE A CAR THROUGH CARMAX, AND DO NOT PURCHASE THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND YOU WILL STILL BE CHARGED FOR ALL REPAIRS.

The most incompetent jack wagons I have ever dealt with in my entire life. I paid to have this car transferred from Dallas to be relatively close to me. The Dallas inspectors made a point to tell me there is some slight wear on the drivers seat but, everything else looks fine. Okay great here is my money. Weeks go by, car shows up, I drive two hours after they say it has arrived. I show up and its covered in dirt. I test drive the car - drives fine. Ill be back to check it out again. Day 2 - car was washed but, not detailed. We were told oh there is one small imperfection on the rear bumper that our stellar inspection process (that this car has supposedly been through multiple times) and we will take care of it. We look over it and half of this entire car had been repainted using the wrong color code, over spray all over the front bumper, orange peel the full length of the car and paint drips a foot long. We will repaint the car. Day 3 - on my Birthday Im told the car has been fixed and is ready for pickup, this was roughly 2pm. I call this office, finally get someone around 3pm and Im told, well we have no idea who told you that, but, well look into it and call you by the end of the day. For most end of day (business day) is 5pm. By 5pm I had received no phone call. As Im literally helping light candles I get a phone call at 7:30pm and Im told weve repainted the rear bumper like you requested. At this point Ive lost any spread of patience I have left. These idiots wasted nearly 12 hours of my time. Then they interrupt my evening birthday dinner with my family that I havent had a chance to be around in over a decade for my birthday. I tell them to keep it and then their moron floor manager calls me to try and tell me off. I gave him a piece of my mind. Hang up and this guy tries calling me back!....Thanks for nothing CarMax. Terrible experience.

Overall A 4 Star +. Used CarMax web site.Found my dream car. It was at a CarMax in California. Called the Wichita dealership, dealership provided financing, but I researched and found lower rates. Researched CarMax extended warranty. Appears to be the best, most comprehensive one available and priced lower, 5 year/75,000 mile. Requested transport the car to Wichita (for a fee, better/cheaper than driving or flying to California). Test drove, closed the deal. Price is set in stone, but was in line with JD Power Retail pricing. Expect a long wait for the business office, busy place on Saturday. Out of state vehicle, I had to have it inspected. I paid my registration & tax at the dealership, 4 Star, two + weeks and I am still waiting for my tag and tax receipts to be delivered. 20/20 hindsight, I should have gone to the tag office myself.. Happy with the car, overall straight forward process. Nothing is painless...

We were referred to Carmax by a salesman from a different dealership. He recommended we take our car there and have it appraised and compare that to what we could get for a trade-in. I was pleasantly surprised with the offer we got from Carmax. It was exactly what we wanted and what we thought was fair for our car. Looking for a Ram crew cab found it on CarMax. New listing, had to wait for it to become available, I was the1st customer to put a hold on it. I loved working with Carmax. I know if I sold my vehicle myself I would have made more money but time was of the essence. I walked in and it took less than 15 minutes to get the car appraised and maybe another 15 minutes for paperwork. It was fast, easy, and efficient. The environment is clean, safe and professional. I felt like I was a valued customer and everyone was attentive and helpful. I highly recommend Carmax.

CarMax was very quick and courteous. It was a very simple process to buy my truck. I had it shipped from OK to KS for free. They called me when it was ready to test drive. I loved it but wanted several things fixed, it was no problem. They fixed it all plus they even found one or two more issues that they fixed without being told.The only thing that they could improve on is communication about some of the fixes. There were multiple scratches on the car that I had asked to be fixed. I thought that meant totally removed and when I got the truck back it had touch up paint in the scratches but you could still see the scratches. It was more just my misunderstanding of what fixed meant. But when I brought this up with the manager he had them work on the scratches a little more to try and hide the imperfection.Overall I would definitely buy from CarMax again!

I looked online and found the car I thought I wanted. I made an appointment to test drive it. I knew that if the drive was good, the price was good, and I was ready to buy. Once at the Max, Jesse was great! Good information, easy, fast service. I drove away with my beautiful Toyota Prius a little later. They even took care of the tags and fees, so no trip to DMV. Tag will come in the mail. Two Thumbs Up!

We had planned to buy a pick-up and a car. The pick-up sale went fine. For the car, the salesman has been great. However, the process has not. First, the 3-week delay in shipping the car is unacceptable. Second, when the car arrived, we receive an e-mail saying it was there and was almost ready -- almost two weeks ago. That e-mail should not be sent until the car is ready. Third, we still dont have the car. Initially we were told it was scratched in transit and wed have to wait a week for repairs. After waiting yet another week, we were told it is a bigger problem and they didnt know when it will be ready. Ive been telling people what a wonderful experience weve had at CarMax, but now Im not so sure. Were about ready to buy our car elsewhere.As it turned out, CarMax did a good job. First they refunded our fee for shipping the car to Wichita. Then they urged us to select another car, offering to pay the shipping. This car came very quickly. And even though it had been 5 or 6 weeks, they stood by their original offer on our trade-in. Our salesman did a good job throughout. At this point we are happy customers and would encourage others looking for used cars to try CarMax.

I had a car transferred in from another state and purchased it last week. Its clean, has new tires, smells good, and is running great so far. From my initial contact Stuart (call-center), to my salesman Steven, to Taylor in the business office, everyone was prompt and professional. Pricing is transparent, they made a very reasonable trade offer (although I ended up selling privately), and they pitched their warranty but werent pushy about it. In all, I spent less than 90 minutes at the dealership. Definitely the first place Ill look next time I need a car.

VERY unprofessional sales person and managers. Salesperson had a poor attitude. He walked away when a manager stepped in to help. This could have been a learning experience, not an excuse to abandon the situation. Low ball offer on trade (expected).Bait and switch on financing offer. Made a finance offer one day with zero down. The next day, demanded a down payment. Repairs were needed on the vehicle to make the deal. No contact for more than 2 weeks, then one of the managers called just after 6pm on a Sunday night to see if I was still interested in the vehicle.5-6 hours over 3 days waisted.

I am very disappointed in the customer service I received yesterday. My husband is physically challenged and can not walk. We wanted to look at a few trucks, and I asked if we could drive back to see them. I was told no. I asked if an employee could drive my husband back to see them. Again told no. I asked if they had a golf cart available for my husband and again told no. Now I see that Carmax does not accommodate the physically handicapped. Very disappointed!In violation of ADA!
