This was my first time ever using a Pep Boys and this was the best experience at a shop I have ever had at the location in Waukegan,IL. I went in to have my tires replaced. Dale assisted us from the beginning till the end, he was very thorough and made sure we understood exactly why things needed to be done. When we went to pick our vehicle up the rest of the staff was very attentive and helpful. I will 1000% be back to this location for my auto needs

Right from the start I was greeted with great customer service, all the employees were friendly to talk to and they were honest! I had a leaking tire, they updated me on what was wrong and fixed it right away. By far the best experience I’ve had at a tire shop!

My visit today at this location was phenomenal. I had an issue with my vehicle in removing the tires and the manager Ray was more than helpful in resolving it. He also provided me Great deal with my tires and I will be bringing my second vehicle tomorrow for new tires as well. I will definitely recommend this location to friends and family. I will say that you can Dicker with price, especially if you know what youre talking about. Their work is warrantied and so are the parts, keep your receipts.🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟I have to say, Brian over at the Waukegan store is the person that has the knowledge and wherewithal to solve problems which present themselves there. upper management would be wise to take advantage of his abilities to make the operation run smoother, some of the people dont have the temperament to do what he does.

I’m buying 2 cooper adventurer h/t tires for $111 each so it’s not bad. 3 stars just because I just came and the guy at the service center (white shirt) went to sell me some tires the same ones that I seen were advertised online. I went in just to see if I could get a better deal and when I asked if there were any specials he said no. And he was selling me the tires for $148 and even when I showed him the tires were on the pep boys site he said that he couldn’t offer me that price unless I had a coupon code, but that was an “instant savings” deal so there were no coupon code.To summarize, 3 stars because when I was walking away because he couldn’t give me the price advertised he didn’t try to rectify the issue at all.

Horrible experience, I had an appointment at 4pm and I arrived on time and they told me they’d work on my car up next and they made me wait 2 hours then put another car ahead of me. AFTER THAT they came up to me and told me to wait 45 more minutes, I understand it takes time but it should be told before making me wait sitting there not knowing what’s going on.

Worst Pep Boys I have ever been to and I have been to many in 4 different states. The counterman took in cars and said they would be done in an allotted time and it wasnt. If it were only me, I would chalk it up to bad luck. But it was everyone who was here. 3 others were just as livid. Instead of complaining, I thought I would just post it. Good luck if you pay them a visit.

AWESOME job! Ray the store manager and Greg the lead mechanic spent countless hours fixing an electrical issue in my car. I was kept informed the entire time! I felt like I wasnt treated like a customer, but more like family! Ray and Greg, you have a customer for life! Did a great job on replacing my front bearing. Good communication and accurate price.

Went to get a new battery and it worked for two days. Engine wouldnt turn over and lights wouldnt come on, had to walk to work in snow. Came back from work and popped the hood to see the negative connection completely loose and off the battery. What kind d of mechanic cant tighten a single connection down properly.

So sad this pep boys dont sell auto parts at this moment and I dont know if they ever will again but you can still get your car serviced and fixed for a fair price. This the only place I go to have something fixed on my car that I cant do myself. Also they specialize in selling tires, I didnt believe new tires make a big difference but boy was I wrong I purchased two brand new front tires from pep boys and it made my car feel brand new again I cant wait to get enough money to have my back tires brand new

Ray is the man! This is by far the best place in Waukegan, IL for any services or tires you need. I called around the top name brand tire places and just off the phone call, I knew this was the right place. They went above and beyond to give me multiple tire options as well as explain in detail the Worth of each one, and which they would recommend.Once I arrived, the building had great Social distancing signs everywhere, And the place felt like a safe, clean environment. If you’re hungry or don’t want to wait inside, McDonald’s is only 2 buildingS down as well as a shopping center and gas station across the street.The manager introduced himself to me. He happened to be the one who was at the counter helping me as well. Very nice guy, I can tell he is serious about his job and he wants to help the customers in the best way. Not trying to make extra money off the blind. Keeps it straight with you. Felt like a family, not even with just me, I seen great interactions with others as well. Also, The employees and staff was very friendly.So I got new tires with a great price, and a deal on a wheel alignment, which he recommended with no pressure at all. Great business done, less than 24 hours of calling. Car is running better, and I know I’ll be back if I need anything else done in the future.

Dropped my car off at 9am, they told me it was 1 hour 45 minute wait before getting to my car my car wasnt ready to be picked up until 1:30 in the afternoon. Very disappointed and will not return.

Customer service is outstanding! Ray definitely knows all automotive repair requirements and treats all of his customers with respect. He stands behind the work he recommends to be performed.

Pep Boys posted a good deal on tires but their communication was sub par. Upon install, they realized there was a problem with a tire, so we had to schedule another visit and w live 40 minutes away. They never called when they said they would to tell us when work was done, or if our tires were in. We spent so much time waiting and there isnt much around to explore to kill time with. The waiting area could also use a good wipe down. On a good note, so far, we are happy with the tires.

Excellent customer service! Sully was wonderful in helping us sort out the issues with our car. Honesty is what you look for in auto service and they were exceptionally helpful in not only finding out the best deals for our car, but also recommending better solutions. Listen to the other reviewers and DO NOT COME HERE. Absolutely awful and immensely shady car shop. First off, there are no prices for ANY of the services that they provide in store or online. Only a bunch of coupons for the services. I went in to get a regular oil change for my car. I only went to Pep Boys because their oil changes supposedly came with free tire rotations. I had marked my tires prior to my appointment to see if they actually rotate your tires- THEY DID NOT ROTATE MY TIRES!! Additionally, I was charged over $70 for a synthetic oil change--mind you, that was WITH a coupon, when I usually pay $45 MAX at any other place. What an absolute ripoff and lack of integrity from this business.

I went here for tires on my wifes Malibu. And was greeted by Debbie. She let me compare the Cooper tires and the Goodyears right next to each other. Debbie took care of us very well! I was shopping over at the Pleasant Prairie Outlets, on a Sunday. To my surprise there were not many auto shops open, but PepBoys was!! I somehow managed to get a nail in my tire :-( I live in Chicago! Thankfully, they were able to squeeze me into their schedule!! Affordable, fast service!

Great staff! Fast service! Store is clean, had a cup of coffee while waiting. Also was quoted a great tire deal, will be coming back to change my tires.

Made an appointment for a simple oil change at 8 am, told them I had errands to run so I would wait for them to call to pick up my car, they said ok, and I left with my mother. 8 hours later, I call them to see when my car would be ready, because they had stated before that the website had malfunctioned and they had an overflow of appointments, and they tell me its been done for the better part of the day. They made no effort to call because they thought I was in their waiting area, waiting for my car. So I get there, almost 5pm, get my keys, and find my car sitting in the middle of their parking lot completely unlocked, as it apparently had been for HOURS.The discounted price does not make up for the amount of my time that was wasted.

The first time I came here I was only looking to get my car certified to drive with Lyft. But after experiencing their customer service, I am now a returning customer that has come back multiple times and will continue to do so in the future. They do good service, and gave me a complimentary 10% off coupon due to being slow, but my experience is thats their trend. I recommend dropping off rather than waiting due to the excessive wait time. On top of all that they moved my seat, wheel, and mirrors. Im over six feet tall, so thats pretty much a cardinal sin. If youve got the time, and dont mind them changing your settings theyre great. If youre in a rush pick somewhere else.

I recently replaced a busted battery and a ton of terrible tires on an Impala I got from my mom and saved quite a bit of money in the process due to some outstanding sales and rebates at Pep Boys.So far, so good. The new Champion AGM battery and 4 new Definity HP 800 tires were installed correctly (and the tires balanced perfectly, which has literally never happened at Walmart....lol) and the online appointment system was very easy to use. The AGM battery starts my car immediately and my car no longer sounds like a fat man having a heart attack when I turn the key.They got me in and out quickly and the service was excellent!Edit: I got free roadside assistance with the tires, and thought that Id never use it, but after AAA left me stranded for 5 hours in the middle of the night, I called the roadside assistance company Pep Boys contracts with, and they gave me a free tow to a repair shop.

Good pricing but I was given incorrect information over the phone vs when I got in the store. Also the “30 minute oil change” is a huge joke. I had a 2:30 appointment. I was 10 minutes early. They took my car in at 2:30. It took them over 2 hours to complete it. I missed my non refundable movie and dinner reservation. If I would have known it was longer I would have made better arrangements. No one came to give me a time heads up. And after about 3:30 everyone left from behind the counter so I could not ask questions. And the people who were there had no answers.

Store doesn’t disclose prices. A 300 brake job. Ended up being a 1200 brake job. Never told my 18 son what the amount would for additional work needed. Zero integrity place should be shut down!!!

Their website lets you buy items online but when you go there to pick it up, their parts retail is closed due to the pandemic. The clerk wouldnt even walk over and get what I ordered. This place is useless.

Beware of shady salesmen here. The assistant manager Alex told me that they tell people over the phone a lower price and then upsell price after service is done. He said its one of there tricks. I called three different Pep boys and they all quoted me a lower price for the exact same service Alex did. I called the store manager and told him about this and he offered no solution. But if you read the reviews you can see they do this a lot. Take your business elsewhere

They never fixed my truck, I had it towed there and had to have it towed out because they didn’t fix my starter. Tried selling my an engine saying I need one! When I took it to another place it was the starter not an engine problem. They were rude to my husband told him to go somewhere else. I’m highly disappointed.

I brought my car to change the tires. They told me theyd do it the same day. They didnt. I paid for them. They didnt arrive next day as they promised. Once they got here, there were only 3 tires! Unbelievable. They wanted me to choose the cheap ones because it was more convenient for them. They didnt think about my car. I needed the new tires ASAP for a long trip. They gave me a discount for the Definity tires, the ones that are only sold in Pep Boys. I had to take it, I was in a rush I think the manager should be replaced. She was the one who put me in all this trouble.

Put cheap brake pads, on my Cadillac, and I paid for factory pads, the brakes never stop squeaking, after they supposed to be fixed!

I brought in my car around mid November to just get some tires mounted and I came out with my front bumper crashed. I spoke to one of the supervisors and they told me that they would fix it but I didn’t trust them with the car anymore knowing that they themselves crashed it so I wanted my car to be fixed at the body shop of my choice. The store manager Bryan told me to send them 2 estimates from different bodyshops and I submitted them a couple days later. He told me it would be a 2-3 week process and I said fine. It’s been almost 2 months now and I still haven’t heard anything back from them. I am very disappointed in the poor service and communication that they have with their customers. I wouldn’t recomend taking your vehicle here. I am still waiting for an answer from them.

My only question? Is what happened to ken he was the only one who could get me in and out with me getting my vehicle back in on piece without messing up me car with a simple oil change. Got my car back and my oil ran out with in week and i brung it back to see why. and the supervisor didn’t even want to talk to me (like he did when the girl crashed a car in the garage door)he kept sending the assistant manager (Dan) to talk me (6times) like he did with this incident and he seemed like he didn’t know what he was talking about and told me ken no longer work here and comeback tomorrow they kept giving me the runaround and the week before my son came for a oil change and supervisor al sold him a coolant flush on his Car and we took it to grease monkey and they said there was no way they shouldn’t have done that but I let it go because pep boys always treated me right. They need to upgrade the management quickly. I will not continually come here when the supervisor won’t even solve the issues with the customers!

Took our car in for two reasons, only addressed ONE of the issues, had little interest in helping us figure out the other one even though we paid for the $90 inspection. So after charging us for the inspection, they quoted us over $700 for the repair of the one problem. When my mechanic father heard what they were trying to charge us he drove 5 hours to help diagnose the issue. Ended up being a $38 fix that took under an hour to do. Not only will I NEVER be back, Ill be warning anyone and everyone we know to take their business elsewhere. Either theyre idiots or scam artists, neither of which Id trust with what I drive my babies around in.

After making an appnt the day before, I arrived on site, my car was in the garage for 3 hours before they told me they dont have the right tools. They suggested I go to Lansing IL, about a 75 minute drive. When I got to Lansing, the service writer said the Waukegan shop doesnt have a capable mechanic. Being this is a BRING BACK for a failed replacement part, they should have know BEFORE booking the appointment.The service writer in Waukegan lied repeatedly right to my face about status and capabilities. Also tried to sell me services I did not need.This place should either be fined or shutdown by the city, county or state for illicit practices.

If I could leave 0 stars, I would. DO NOT EVER COME HERE. They dont know what they are doing and are rude. Needed a wheel bearing replaced and knew it, I work on cars but dont have the resources to do that kind of work. I had several calls back and forth with the manager, he didnt know what was wrong with the van while working on it. He even suggested replacing the brake pads to see if that helped? Finally we agree to replace the wheel bearing. I pay $400 for this work, which was way too expensive but the truck was not drivable so I dont really have a choice. I show up and the van is still acting up on that wheel. I lift the car up at home and NOTHING was replaced. I call the manager and he is rude. He says he replaced the bearing seals for $400. Are you serious? Replacing the entire bearing and hub should only cost $250 which I was quoted elsewhere but the van would not make it that far.

This was at the Pep Boys in Waukegan, Il.Had an appointment at 12 noon to get all 4 new tires that I bought from there put on my car. Checked in around 11:50am. The guy told me my appointment wasnt until 2 and I told him I was pretty sure made the appt at 12. But he kept saying I was wrong. I pulled up the email confirming my appt at noon. He didnt want to look at it and said I believe you I know its at 12 but we cant take you until 2. I told him I had taken the day off work for this. He says fine give me your keys and Ill see what I can do. Told me to have a seat. 3 hrs & 45 min later the tires were finally on. He apologized for it taking so long and gave me some B.S. excuse. I was very disappointed with the customer service and service in general. I will not be returning.

Got a very good deal on a new tire that i had to replace, they got me in without an appointment, the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is that nobody called me when the car was ready... I called after 4 hours and they just said oh the car is ready.

This company has no integrity!! The don’t disclose prices to customers before performing services. Stay away From pepboys!! Especially this location!!! Funny how the district manager i spoke to sides with a store who’s reviews all seem to have the same issue I had!! Employees are a bunch of liars who took advantage of a 18 year old.

Appalling customer service. My business rents trucks from Enterprise and they require I get it serviced regularly. The first time I tried this store it took 15 minutes to make the appt, the appt itself ended up taking 3.5 hours for a simple service on a 2018 truck, then when I tried to get an invoice to submit to Enterprise it took me several phone calls and failed email attempts from Pep Boys. They ended up finally just texting me a pic of the invoice. I figured this had to be a fluke. Tried again a couple months later and after sitting on hold for 10+ minutes I hung up and called again. My next call and two more after I was put on hold without anyone even answering and talking to me. Never again will this store get my business for any reason.

Came here for a set of tires, was out the door in less than 40 minutes. The guys were friendly and polite. They have a waiting area where they have a TV, some toys for the kids and they also have free coffee.

Called at 8:15 in morning they told me to come in at noon this was a Thursday. I went at noon they knew nothing about it. Most techs left at noon only one tech left. Went in for battery check/replacement and check for coolant leak. They replaced battery just fine, said they couldnt find coolant leak, was there 2 1/2 hours to change battery and check for leak. Went to Ford and they found leak and repaired. Leak was a major repair.

Good old nail in the tire and I had two boys 3 and 1 along for the ride. They were kind, understanding and most importantly Quick!

I paid for an alignment and the car still pulled to the right. I took it back and they said I need new tires. I got an alignment at Fast Tire in Antioch and my car drives perfect now, WITH THE SAME TIRES ON. Pepboys couldnt do the job right and tried to sell me new tires which would NOT have fixed the problem! Some of the mechanics dont even speak English. PEPBOYS DOES NOT HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE THE MECHANICS AT FAST TIRE IN ANTIOCH.

My windshield wipers stopped working in the rain one day. I took my car (GMC Terrain) to them and after going some research on my own, I suggested that it may be the linkage transmission. They went along with it and said they would call me before they do the work. About 3hrs later I get a call saying it was the linkage and that between labor and parts, my cost for repair was just under $500. Bulls***. I went back to get my car and it was literally still on the same we exact parking space where I left it...*backed in, in front of the entrance door/ the meter hadnt changed, / the chewing gum wrapped in a napkin from Wendys tucked underneath my tire for marking purposes only) were still there. They hadnt even moved my car, much less worked on it. The repair garage is on the other side of the building. In the end, it was completed by myself and a friend...in the parking lot, less than 30minutes, I didnt have to buy any parts and it didnt cost my $500. Theyvonly stopped because the arm / ball joint popped out. THEY are F$#*&^% horrible.

I have a 97 Ford Expedition abd passenger tire blew out. I was able to get a tow to their shop on Greenbay Rd and they fixed my tire. They signed me up right then for a Pep Boys discount card so I could recieve their MEMBERS ONLY discount on towing of half off. Saved my life...my ride...and my pockets! Thanks Pep Boys!

Horrible service...I made an appointment for 9 0clock..Im the first person at the register when they open at 9. 10 oclock i finally ask the man, Are they done putting in the steering fluid. The man turns to me in say oh they havent looked yet we have other appointments. Im so upset about this. They just did a $500 job on my car 3 weeks ago, and even then they were so slow and unprofessional

I would never recommend anybody bringing their vehicles here for repairs. Mechanics and general service techs are not properly trained and have bad attitudes, they will not repair your vehicle right.

Dont ever EVER TAKE YOUR CAR HERE they messed up my car breaks didnt even put bolts back on the car and broke stuff alsoOVER PAYING THEM.
