In the mood for ice cream after walking along the marina. We stumbled upon the closest spot but their line was out of the door. We looked via Google Maps for another dessert spot and was directed here. What a fantastic find. The gelato is amazing delicious. I enjoyed my Oreo flavor. My friend got a double flavor and enjoyed hers. We plan to bring our kids back to enjoy the water fountains one evening and try the pizza too. This is definitely a cool place to venture. I believe DC offers free parking on Sunday’s. Parking was pretty plentiful on this Sunday evening. The bathrooms leave everything to be desired - no tissue, just a whole mess for the women’s anyway. But I can’t fault the Gelato venue for this as they share a space with the Pizza vendor and the Sushi vendor. There is ample seating outside and a lovely rooftop space for pictures. The Navy Yard marina is just three blocks away.I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbs up. Thank you.
Went for their soft opening after grabbing a slice of pizza at wise guys. I was mesmerized to see all the options they had of gelato. The employees there are super nice and they informed me that they were taught by an Italian chef in how to make these masterpieces of gelato. I got myself pistachios, raspberry cheesecake, and coffee in a large bowl. They are having a promotional discount of 50% until Sunday (4/7) and paid about $3. My first bite was heaven being melted into my tongue! I am definitely going back and wouldnt mind paying for the full price. It is super delicious, fresh, and appealing to see.
Delicious, smooth and very addictive. I recommend the Coconut, Pistachio and Roche.
This is not Gelato. It was hard rock and tasteless.
I love ice cream and this is definitely the best place in Navy Yard/Eastern Market area and there are a couple of good ones now. I would argue the best in DC (at least from what I have tried). It took way too long for me to try it. Its not by the water but worth the very short walk. You can say gelato is different than ice cream, which is fair but its still better. At least in this case. Wiseguys is right next door and they go great together. Big portions and lots of flavors too.
Very cute new addition to Navy Yard! I only taste tested the sorbet, and all the flavors were so wonderful. Cant wait to return! Loved the blood orange and mango flavors the most.
Altani Gelato is a good scoop of gelato in Navy Yard in Southeast D.C. Its in Canal Park in the same building as Wiseguy Pizza. Despite being in the same building, Altani has its own seating and theres a divider between the two. The service is good and the gelato is good. They have over a dozen flavors from your classics to more unique flavors.
Very surprised it took me the better part of 5 months of living in Navy Yard to try this place, especially as an Ice Cream and Gelato lover. Altani is a quaint little gelato shop connected to Wiseguy pizza, a few blocks up from the Navy Yard pier. Unassuming, with no flashy signs or pictures, they offer a great variety of gelato flavors. Everything from a decadent Italian cookie to a slightly tart lemon sorbet, they offer tastings of anything you want to try before you purchase a cup for yourself (small is 2 flavors, regular is 3). You can also get a fresh waffle cone on top (which they will dip in a liquid chocolate upon request). Having only tried 4 flavors so far, I can definitely say I will be back to taste a few more!
Great cafe latte & tiramisu gelato. Comfy place to sit, relax, & chat with friends. Will stop by when ever Im in the neighborhood
Tasty but it’s more like ice cream because real gelato does not upset my stomach and give me gas like ice cream does
Altani is so good. The gelato is creamy and delicious, there is a great selection of flavors, the presentation of the gelato is gorgeous, and the staff people are friendly. Do yourself a favor and get to this place!
I like it
Located where WiseGuy Pizza is near the CVS on M St.Regular: 3 Scoops is $6.60 including tax. Good value and great flavor! There were two large cases filled with a variety of flavors including both gelato and sorbet. I ended up getting hazelnut, chocolate and berry cheesecake. The berry cheesecake was very bright and tart and the cheesecake flavor was super rich in the best way. Chocolate was pretty basic and was overshadowed by the extra crunch from the hazelnuts.
Very nice place. Perfect service and very tasty Icecream or Gelato. I really love it.
Mango and Salted Caramel gelato was sooo freakin good!
Ferrero Rochet Delicious
Amazing Gelato
Freezer burn taste and made me sick afterwards. service was not friendly.
