This place never disappoints me! The food is so delicious! I ordered the Ponderosa omelette and it was just perfect! We ordered the migas and wow so delicious! We also ordered a burger and it was cooked to perfection! If you want to enjoy great food at a reasonable price here in DC you def need to stop by the Diner!
The best grilled cheese I have ever had.Great service and super nice staff.Dreamy ambience.
Super service, deliciously prepared meals. My Cobb salad was very satisfying.
The service was nice and friendly. The food came out fast, despite the amount of people there. I was surprised at how inexpensive it was, considering the area. Would definitely recommend. Looking forward to going back.
Guarantee good Diner food. My go-to is the bread pudding french toast - delicious.
Stumbled upon this place while walking down 18th St in Adams Morgan. I got pulled in by the aroma pouring out the door. The place looks empty in my picture, but that’s misleading since most patrons chose to sit outside. This is a throwback to days when a diner was really a diner. The only thing missing is the shiny silver exterior. The food is basic diner food, but with the great taste you’d expect on a street that’s wall-to-wall restaurants. I had the Classic Burger and was not disappointed - tasted great and took me back to being a teenager. Oh, and the coffee was spot on. If you’re looking for good food and don’t need the typical bougie nonsense in this part of DC… head to The Diner!
One of the best pancake breakfasts in a while. Nice area in Adams Morgan. Easy going staff~simple menu….Go here!!!
The food was a little bland. Other than that everything was great. I will definitely go back again though.
Shared brunch with sistafriends after a fabulous bday weekend. The food was good and the service was great! Look forward to another visit!!
Is my fav place for brunch every now and then. However, this particular time there was a hair on my food, the server who took care of me at the bar did not even gave me an apology for the fact. I must say that 9- out of 10 service is outstanding. Nonetheless today I was not even offered sugar, hot sauce, or a coffee refill neither water and the server does not even remove the plate even after 15 mins since I finished . lil disappointed this time😏
Been eating here since I moved to the area in 2005. Always my go to for food, service and the vibe. I wish there were more locations similar. You wont be disappointed. Th menu has changed over the years and I wish they would bring back some of the old items from time to time.
This place sells breakfast all day! The food was delicious and they have outdoor dining. Pancakes, awesome!
Food is decent just don’t call to order! Called 30 minutes in advance they told me 15 minutes showed up no order. Whoever took my order didn’t place it. Manager came out no apology nothing just we don’t have it.
Brunch at “the diner” is super good! 24 hour service, so you can come any time of the day, inside and outside seating. Atmosphere and Ambiance is neat and comfortable. The restaurant appears clean. Servers are pleasant, communicative and efficient. Good variety of dishes to a good pricepoint. I can highly recommend the eggs benedict on avocado!
I always get the wings and their chili on fries. Its absolutely delicious, especially after a night of fun in Adams Morgan. Definitely worth the wait time and always provides late night entertainment. As long as no one throws up in the restroom. The wings are really good, though, trust me on this.
The Diner was amazing. Well worth making a trip to while in DC. French toast sticks (deep fried bread pudding french toast) were out of this world and one of the nicest desert like breakfast food I have ever had.Breakfast burrito was incredible also. Will be returning here again before we finish in DC without a doubt.
Excellent service. Great for outdoor people watching. Good food.
Good, tasty food, great service (friendly & timely), nice Cuban coffee with real cream. Great value.
The Diner is a must go if youre in the Washington D.C. The restaurant is very busy and you may have to wait to be seated between 15-30min, so be prepared to wait for a bit. They have a large number of outdoor and indoor seating options. The service was pretty good and the server Willy was very personable and provided great food recommendations. Willy suggested the Hibiscus Margarita and my husband and I were pleasantly surprised, it was delicious. The food is scrumptious and leaves you feeling full but not stuffed. The French toast, grits and omelet were all memorable. One suggestion is to request less jalapeños, the omelet with the jalapeños is on the spicy side. I requested substitutions for the sour cream and pepper jack cheese on my omelet and Willy made it happen. I would definitely recommend The Diner for a great breakfast or brunch.
The place was LOUD! The volume could have been turned down four notches and it still would have been loud. This made the whole experience unpleasant, for me anyway. The corned beef hash was made from scratch but offered no more than potatoes and corned beef in a medium sized portion. Everything came out hot. The pineapple juice was great. My wheat toast was so hard I coild not eat it. The service was horrible. The waiter took my order and never came back to my table. I ended up walking to the register to pay for my order. The staff was on the unfriendly side. I wanted to order something to go but the service was so bad that I did not want to spend any more money or time there. I just wanted to leave.
Great migas nachos. The bread pudding is delish! Perfect place for a tasty breakfast.
This is not your typical diner! When a diner calls its self The Diner you know you are in for some serious eats. Its like wearing your heart on your sleeve for the world to see. Friendly, knowledgeable, courteous staff complete your dining experience at The Diner. I had the Raging Cajun omlette which consists of shrimp, cheddar cheese, andouille sausage! And some of the most delicious pancakes Ive had in ages!
Really awful food, and thats on Mary had a little lamb. And the service was even worse.
Good food, good service, good vibe - recommend!
Had a wonderful breakfast at the DINER while in town for work from Minneapolis. Ordered the brunch burger and it was cooked to perfection with a massive helping of home fries. We ate at many places while in DC, but this place felt the most like home. Friendly and efficient staff was the icing on the cake. Will come back next time Im in town. Thanks for a great breakfast!
I wouldn’t give them a star at all!!!! Worst service ever. It’s the 4th of July and I was out here with my family and my mom asked for lemons and the waitress gave her Lime. When my mom asked nicely if they had lemons she snatched the container out of my mom’s hand. I will never come back to this diner anyways.
Local place great for breakfast, helpful staff
Awesome foodReally nice people.5*****
Service took long, food was ok, nothing to be excited about, then the service got a bit better, but we would not go back
Food was terrible. Good service, nice atmosphere. Honestly, dont bother eating breakfast here. Eggs seemed like they were from a packet, sausages had been cooked almost to an inch of death, fried potatoes were dry as anything. Dennys are better than this place, hands down!! Unbelievable!! How this place comes up with a score over 4 on Google searches and marked as one of the top breakfast places is a farce! Rest assured this is a real review of someone who eats out too - feel free to review my local guide level of contributions to venue ratings...
Great shakes and strong drinks!
The food is OK but not worth the cost. Dont bother with pancakes, small and verry thin Servers are friendly but a little slow. My coffee cup was empty when our food arrived and wasnt refilled until I was about done eating.
A nice place to have breakfast at any time with friends!
I loved having breakfast at 2 PM on Sunday, with Friends!
Service was great, food was delish, only issue was the doors were wide open so flies kept coming around. Kind of hard to eat when you have to wave your hands around constantly. But again gooood was soooo gooood.
Its good quantity for the money. The taste was great. It was very busy on a Sunday morning and we had to wait for sometime for a table. The chicken sausage and the omlette with the pancakes were all good. We had to pack some stuff to go as the quantity was too much for two people. Definitely a suggested place.
Awesome patty melts and all the traditional breakfast fare. Fast, efficient service!
Really good and price isnt bad!!
Quick service . Good diner food . Nice waitstaff
Failed to mention online they were on summer vacation.
Great dinner and breakfast both!
Exactly what you would expect and more! Love the coziness of the place and its situated in Adams-Morgan, a cute trendy neighborhood in NW DC. Definitely coming back to try some more of the great food here!
Their menu isnt quite as good as it used to be, but I imagine things will expand as dining demand goes back to normal
Great food amazing variety
Service was good & food was delicious! We will definitely be back, next time where passing through.
Very friendly and attentive customer service. The food was decent and the prices were reasonable.
Overall the food is pretty solid, a great place for breakfast food and the general american classics! There is lots of seating available and its open 24 hours! Service is friendly and generally quite responsive, and prices are reasonable ($9~$15). Definitely a good spot for breakfast/brunch or late night visit.
The bread pudding French toast was awesome and it was super fast. Also everyone was super nice!
Worst breakfast of my life and Im 41 and have traveled the world! Chicken sausage so rubbery could not cut/eat. Grits so watery as you can see in pic. Potatoes over fried! Just terrible all around! Not sure if real butter is used but it doesnt taste like real butter and needs to be changed. Worst was the spoon that looked someone had just used it to eat an ice cream sundae with caramel and fudge that was given to me with my grits! Wont be back!
My daughter and I stopped by for brunch and it was perfect! Great people watching, friendly staff, and excellent breakfast! Delicious!
Lets be honest. I love diners and dives. And I love meatloaf. My wife and I usually prepared meatloaf at home, but this one is exceptional. Bacon wrapped meatloaf, with mashed potatoes and green beans, in the heart of Adams Morgan? Its possible. Its not from the Fifties, but The Diner is a good example of a neighborhood diner. Its cheap, friendly and solid. What else? The perfect location for a breakfast or a comfortable dinner with your friends or family.
The food was super delicious! We had an omelette with bacon, sausage, cream cheese, jalapenos, pepperjack cheese, and chives which is one of the best omelettes Ive ever tasted. We also got a fried chicken biscuit with cheddar, bacon, and honey butter all on a homemade biscuit. AMAZING! the coffee was excellent, and they kept my cup full, even though it was extremely busy in there. We cant wait to go back again got brunch, or perhaps try something from their dinner menu!
Mediocre. Overpriced for ok diner food, and somehow never open, this place survives only because of its location.
Its honestly so hard to find a decent place to eat in DC that isnt over priced. I have to first say that our waiter did a great job and that the food had no reflection on his tip as it never should. When we went in, I ordered a Bloody Mary that I sent back immediately as it tasted like water and vodka. I ordered chili that was rather decent and chicken Alfredo as my entree. The Chicken Alfredo was overcooked and wet. The three of us were just so unimpressed with this place, we will be avoiding it on our next trip.
Babyyyyyy when I tell you I am 💯 percent satisfied with making the choice ordering breakfast from the Diner. These bread pudding french toast, the potatos, my eggs scrambled the way I like them to perfection, crispy bacon. My family now has a great breakfast spot. Oh I cant wait to try lunch and dinner.Signed the Bigelows
The food was delicious this was my first time their and they did the food so good!
Great spot if you arent adventurous and youre looking for a meal that you can trust. I had the chicken alfredo, which had a healthy twist and included string veggies (carrots & squash), it was good, but I wanted thicker noodles. My daughter had the BLT, which she ate all of. The only downside was that my daughter had spinach dip that she took one bite of and didnt want another bite (however, she is very picky about her dip).
Mask required BEAUTIFUL INDOOR/OUTDOOR SEATING. They open their huge bay windows in the front of the restaurant which gives the inside much needed air circulation! Very busy but fast on getting your food. Mimosas are delicious!
A bunch of my friends brought me here for the first time and the food was incredible. They have an excellent menu and the prices are very reasonable here.
Food is always good. But service is completely whack right now. My waiter blamed everything on the pandemic.
I came in to pick up an online order an the guy at the front was very dismissive and curt. The food was very subpar to say the least. It was my first time ever ordering from here and I won’t be back
Service was outstanding, food was delicious, very nice spot. Will be revisiting.
Eggs Bennies was delicious! Love the quinoa cake option. Could have used fresher and more cilantro but I know not everyone is a fan. Fruit cup was the best Ive had at a restaurant because of the diversity in their fruit combo. Server was also very friendly.Ambiance was below average. I agree with other reviewers that they should update their space. I think being open 24hrs really wears down the physical space (chairs and tables).
The diner will always be my most favorite restaurants where hearty food is served and prepared well, and I can be me! Do you realize how challenging that is in 2020? Thank you for this now 20-year relationship with DC!
