Lovely place! I didn’t visit the downstairs whiskey bar, but LOVED the rooftop. Very aesthetic vibe, plenty of room, great views. I do wish the music was a tiny bit quieter outside, would be great to have an option to be a little farther away from blaring music and not need to yell over it. Nonetheless, love the place. Bartenders know what they’re doing. Would go again.

We happened by this place and went in to kill some time and have snacks and drinks on a recent Friday. The rooftop bar has great views and small plates. As it started getting towards evening the crowd was much younger so we decided to check out the Whiskey Bar. We had a great time in the whiskey bar and Shawn the bartender was great. My friend is very picky about her drinks and she asked him to make her something special based on her preferences. She loved it so much and he wrote down the recipe so she could make it at home. Super super nice guy! We will definitely come back next time we are in DC.

My daughter took me here after dinner for rooftop cocktails while I was visiting from Michigan. I visited the restroom when we were ready to leave and closed out her tab since I was passing the bar on my way out. I very generously tipped on the total (still getting used to DC pricesπŸ₯΄). When we got home we discovered we were charged for oysters that we did not order. She told me this has happened to her and some of her friends several times before. We immediately called and it went straight to voicemail. Tried calling again during business hours and the message suggested email. They replied saying that we should have reviewed our receipt and there was nothing that they could do since we didn’t bring it to their attention the night of. As a small business owner in the hospitality industry I try to cut slack during these difficult times and always believe it’s best to contact the business before leaving a review. I am appalled by this β€œcustomer service”. Clearly they have an issue but leave it up to the customer to solve it.

So me and my friend was really taken aback by that. The young lady/guy with the locks told us this. The drinks were weak so we left and went on U Street and had so much fun.I will not be going back here. It had a nice view or whatever, vibes where OK,but im good. Solid whiskey selection. Convenient location. Loved the live music downstairs. Burger was average at best. The goat cheese dip sounded amazing, but was disappointing and could be outmatched by Applebee’s. The bartender made it clear he did not want to be there and wouldn’t give any recommendations because, β€œI don’t eat here.” What a glowing endorsement. If I wasn’t starving, I would have walked out at that moment. Just one traveler’s experience at one point in time, but I can’t recommend it based on first impressions.

This restaurant is attached to the POD hotel. So it is quite convenient for folks staying at this hotel or for anyone close by. There is a club downstairs which is pretty awesome but we dined above.. My Other Mother and I stayed at the Marriott hotel so this restaurant was a short walk, and it is situated in the heart of China town. The food was good here but the wait was looooong!! And the restaurant wasnt even packed at all. We were seated quickly but waited a long time for a Server to come over to us. These servers here seemed very laid back and nonchalant which in this case was not a good thing because we were hungry and all this made the service very poor. The Waiter could have been better, he was just okay. Like I mentioned earlier, food was great: my Vegan burger was amazing and my onion rings were fried to perfection. As for my Other Mother, she enjoyed her Catfish but when she asked for a second batch of collard greens the taste was very different-- waaaaay more spicy than her first batch which she thought was perfect.Overall service was poor and food was good. I would visit again because my dinner was perfect. And lets not forget my slice of Devils chocolate cake which I had to go- it was to die for!!

The reason I dined at The Crimson Diner was simply from the convenience and of being in the right location relative to where I was staying, which was the POD Hotel. Since it was on the first floor of the hotel, I thought I would check it out. I was not disappointed. First off, I love a good coffee, and they serve a delightful black coffee! Nice roasted flavor, no frills, good price point. Second, their breakfast omelet is exactly what I want from a traditional breakfast diner. A massive portion which is a comforting blanket with eggs/meat/cheese, potatoes, ketchup, and a full belly when I leave. This space was a bit more modern than traditional diners, but thats okay. Its hip, without charging for the hip environment β€” a great spot for breakfast in China Town. You wont be disappointed.

Im torn about reviewing the downstairs Whiskey Bar because I kind of dont want anyone else to know how great it is. Im in love with this bar! The space is huge and has a (maybe over the top) mid-century theme that even extends to the menu presentation. The bar is massive, there are tons of high-top tables and small nooks and corners with chairs and couches that make it feel casual and cosy. The cocktails are on point and given the name of the place it should be no surprise that whiskey is the star of the show. I cant go here and not order the jalapeno hush puppies - they are so good that sometimes I order a second round. Theyre amazing! It always surprises me that there arent more people in the bar, but thats kind of what I love about it too. It feels like an undiscovered gem! Also be sure to hop on the elevator to the top floor where there another bar and one of the best city views in Chinatown.

Just don’t order any food here. It’s all pretty awful. Views are great though, and the wine and beer selection is ok. Just went there tonight. Terrible $13 burger that they gave me wrapped up in foil without a plate or utensils even though we were dining in. I mean are they doing food service or not? It took us a good 45 minutes to close our tab in part because their credit card machines were down. They were trying to close at 9:30 (though I thought they close at 10) and kept coming around telling us to leave. And we kept telling them we’ve been trying to pay for a half hour! Just real bad all around. I guess I should have said something.

APPROVED !!!A restaurant /whiskey bar / coffee shop / diner in DC in the Chinatown section that I really like as everything on the menu is focused on taste, with nothing plain or underwhelming. Perfect for a big breakfast or in this case, a vegetarian lunch. But, every menu item has something special about it.And all of it reasonably priced.Best of all: huge, cushiony booths and big tables where I can stretch out, put my legs up, and lay out my work and stuff all over.No need to dress up (I wore running /yoga dude clothes here twice and hiking shorts another)I like the decore and the staff is super friendly. When I was headed to the airport and stopped in here off of the Metro, the staff stored it for me.On more than one occasion I was able to sit in my own booth for hours and work while drinking iced tea. They also have a surprisingly nice selection of microbrew beers. Also has a coffee shop, whiskey bar, downstairs night club, and rooftop bar with a budget travel hotel in between called Pod.It is less than a block from a Metro stop.Right near the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, DC Convention Center, and 100 other great places.

Sat waiting for some sort of service on the rooftop and it wasnt that busy because it was raining non-stop. Eventually went to bar to get a menu, couldnt even get that, another patron handed me one. Menu is really small, ended up leaving because the whole experience was just terrible. Pretty much there were a lot of people standing at the bar not being served. Bartenders apparently did not want to serve customers or make any money.Went downstairs to the whiskey bar which opens everyday at 5pm, and it was aesthetically more my sort of place. Dark wood, brass light fixtures, open space and attentive bartenders. They have 150 types of bourbon, craft cocktails, beer, wine and a variety of southern-inspired fare. Whats great is you can tell the bartender what kinds of cocktails you prefer and they can concoct something fitting. Our bartender Chris made our experience really fun and he had me try some new bourbons Ive never had.Whenever Im in the mood for bourbon I will be stopping by here to grab a drink!

I was looking forward to this spot because I love whiskey. I was underwhelmed. The vibe was awesome, the space was comfortable and the noise level was perfect, not to loud. The bartender did not come off as highly knowledgeable with the whiskeys. To me, a bartender in a whiskey bar should be able to provide suggestions and descriptions of different whiskeys. Not all of them, because that would be excessive, but enough to help someone. The food was also a bit underwhelming. The catfish was outright gross. It tasted like a dirty lake. The onion rings were really good though and so was the mac and cheese. I would be willing to give this place another go if someone I was with wanted to because the whiskey selection is great, but there are other options in the city I havent tried yet that, and if I am picking, I would choose those first.
