This place is a scam. My car was throwing P0765 engine check code - Overdrive solenoid open or short-circuited, and the car was in the limp mode (3rd gear). I measured the resistance on the overdrive solenoid, and indeed it was open. I brought it to AAMCO and informed them about the issue, my observations, and asked if they could check the electrical connections in the transmission and the solenoid. They performed a free diagnostic and informed me that they found metal shavings in the transmission, and that it needs to be replaced, and quoted me for $2700. I decided to take a look at it myself. First of all, while draining the fluid I found no metal shavings. Just a little bit of metal dust on the drain plug, which is normal. Next, I found that the wire to overdrive solenoid is broken. And a few hours later I fixed myself. Repair cost - less than $100, mostly spent on the new transmission fluid...

I have a 1971 Chevrolet C-10 pickup. It is not always easy to find people who are willing to address issues with a 50 year old vehicle. When I discovered oil and transmission fluid under this truck, I took it to AAMCO. Paul was very informative and they provided a complete diagnosis of the problems and detailed what the cost would be to fix - bad pump seal in transmission and leaking gaskets. They also found an issue inside the engine and called me to discuss a repair prior to proceeding. When I picked the truck up and brought it home, there was still a leak and I called AAMCO. Paul was very accommodating and I returned the vehicle at which time they found a faulty gasket (from their supplier) as well as another issue (seal on transmission shifter shaft) and fixed it - for no additional charge. The drip pan beneath the truck is now as dry as a bone in the desert.Polite, prompt, personable and very professional. I highly recommend this establishment. Paul and his technicians are certainly a pleasant group to have worked with.Update - More issues and I made a decision to have the 50 year old transmission completely rebuilt. All, previous labor was credited and in a few days I picked up the truck and it shifted smooth as silk. Very pleased however; after 62 miles, a funny noise and lots of white smoke out the exhaust. Paul was extremely concerned and promptly addressed the issue. He called a tow truck and Aamco quickly fixed the problem. Turned out to be a faulty vacuum modulator that allowed transmission fluid to be sucked into the intake manifold. Paul upgraded the component to a higher quality modulator and now were back in business.All this to underscore that problems (especially with a 50 year old vehicle) do happen. Its how you deal with those problems that define the service you provide. Paul and the folks at Aamco have risen to the challenge and turned problems into opportunities to provide outstanding customer service.

Went above and beyond to fix my car in a timely manner despite setbacks from unexpected mechanical problems in my car, unexpected shipping issues of parts and unprecedented heat in the area that they worked through. Friendly and fairly timely. We had an issue with a rear differential that needed an overhaul. They completed it in a couple of days. Price was pretty standard. It is nice to be able to go to any AAMCO and get it fixed if you have issues down the road.

Paul and his staff provided first class service for my son-in-law. They rebuilt his transmission at a very competitive price and even had the vehicle checked out a month after it was rebuilt to ensure that everything was solid before my son-in-law and family drove in to Boise for their moved out of the state. They are great my windows stoped working took it in,They ran a basic diagnostics and couldnt find anything wrong with it so they ran a more in depth diagnostics and figured out what was going on and prorated the cost. Also very nice group of people there.

Over priced they have a parts mark up equivalent to gold prices its insane also the labor costs are 5x higher than anywhere else they do great work but make sure to bring your soul to pay for it.

The guys at ammco are awesome. Ive been using them for years now and Paul always treats me right. Ive tried other shops like Tigard transmission and milex in willsonville and customer service and quality of work are just not the same. I am a landscape contractor, and I was having problems with the transmission in one of my work trucks. In fact the reverse with the transmission was completely out. So I took my truck into AAMCO and worked with Paul at the counter. Instead of just saying that I needed a new transmission as I felt I was ready for that bad news, they did a Diagnostic test first to make sure that possibly it wasn’t something else and as it turns out it was electrical and it was an enormous savings... the good news is my transmission was fine. One other positive note they picked up on two leaks in my radiator and were able to replace it efficiently. The most positive point is this is a work truck and they had my truck for only two days and I had it back to work.. A job well done..

These guys are fantastic!!! Not sure what the problem is with the recent review, but we have taken our two vehicles to them multiple times and they are always fabulous. Very honest, timely, and constantly checking to make sure you know whats going on with your vehicle. I honestly would not take my car anywhere else. The staff are all extremely professional and polite, easy to talk to. Thats huge for me because many places seem like they try to get you for every dollar they can, but definitely not these guys. They have always stuck to their word and never ever made me feel uneasy about the work they do. Give them a shot to impress you and they WILL.

Had my car here recently for problems starting and overheating. Was charged $300 in diagnostics and told needed fuel pump assembly replaced for total of $1000. A friend who is a mechanic listened to a recording of the engine and said that didnt sound right and also that is very expensive, so I got a second opinion. Turns out the engine is cracked and this was completely missed at AAMCO. When I called back to inform them, was told they hadnt missed anything because it didnt overheat while in the shop, meaning they would have charged me $1000 to drive a car out of the shop with a cracked engine. Will never be taking any vehicle here again

I have been very happy with the service provided by these guys. They did a total transmission rebuild for me about a year ago, and while it was expensive, they were efficient, helpful, professional, and did a great job.I always feel like they remember me when I come in to have my oil changed or whatever other service I need. Every time they are polite and friendly and do a great job.

Called panic stricken and left a message at 0745 on Monday morning, after being given their name by Les Schwab. Saturday I had spent nine hours at Les Schwab to get my mounted snow tires on. My window came down when I was two blocks away. It was stuck in the down position. Up all night, researching on UTube. Tried all suggested remedies on Sunday, and none of them worked. Contractor left that came to look at flooded dining room of over a month (condo assn). Left at 1300. Called AAMCO back, and notification on their computer didnt notify them of my message. Told them an essential worker at local hospital. Informed me they were booked solid, and suggested tomorrow at 0800 would be the best time to get worked in. I kept on, new to the area, etc., he finally gave in but said probably not going to be able to even temporarily get the window up, but I could come in. I was there in 10 minutes. He greeted me warmly and said they would try but not to get my hopes up. Took my car within 15 minutes after moving another car out of a bay. Reported back needed new parts that it didnt just come off the track. Permission granted to order from North PDX which was the only place that had the part. About one hour later parts came. Two guys worked on my car for over an hour. Done at 1615, 45 minutes before they closed. AAMCO turned a horrifying experience into a positive with the upcoming weather forecast and my needing to be at the hospital long hours for the next five days. Honestly, they were quite busy with it looked like transmission fixes. Gave me a few tips on my transmission that I had replaced when the car was brand new with 200 miles on the odometer. Perhaps, my bad luck for the last 12 years with this car is about to run out. Everyone was so friendly. Smiling, apologizing that it took so long. I am amazed at their customer service and making sure customers are treated like gold. I will definitely go back especially since they offered me a free 1000? point inspection of going over my car to see what is actually going on. Most mechanics have scratched their head and told me, Just drive it until it dies. Car has 105,000 miles and I have had nothing but trouble and apparent unexplained things go on with it. Yes, perhaps unfortunate for them, but I will be back.

This is a great automotive repair and maintenance shop with fantastic people from the top down. I highly recommend that others use this shop for all automotive their needs, even those dealer services that are required under warranty, as much money can be saved and as long as you keep proof that the work was done as required, the vehicle warranty is absolutely in place. Why spend extra when you dont have to?

I have never given a 1 star rating out before. Since our issue has not been completely fixed yet after 3 trips in to them I feel the need to warn people. I own 2 businesses of my own and know how important it is to hire the right candidates and train employees in order to get the best results out of them. The management here doesnt quite get that yet. I feel this shop is understaffed and some of them are under experienced. We had the transmission in our 3/4 ton truck rebuilt in July. The next day fluid was in a pool on the shop floor. They said it was fluid coming from the overflow hose. After taking it back and having it cleaned we are still getting drops on the floor nightly. One month later the transmission was squealing. They put the wrong torque converter in it. That was changed and then it started shifting erratically. The wire harness on the inside was damaged. They had to change that again. 4 months later it still drips fluid nightly. I believe they over filled it. Ill never recommend them.

This AAMCO took great care of me. My 2004 4Runner needed a new torque converter and other transmission work. The service I received from Jim and his crew was timely, the diagnosis was honest (no up-selling), and the cost was considerably lower than the Toyota dealerships! I would highly recommend Jim and AAMCO to take care of your vehicle for any transmission issues you may be having. I was told parts were 2-3 weeks out at 2 different dealerships...Jim knocked it out in 2 days. Respect.

I had to take my car back as the clutch went out. Turns out there was an issue with my clutch pedal bushings were gone and that is what caused it and not the work they originally did, which was perfect. Not only did they keep their warranty and replace the clutch with a new one and all the work they originally did a year and a half ago, but they also corrected the cause of the problem to cause it to go out again (the clutch bushings) and did not charge me to fix that additional as well. I am a customer for life so long as I live in the area. High marks for this AAMCO branch, the management and all the staff, who was extremely helpful and expedient and taking care of the problem.

Excellent service, fair pricing, honest approach. Clutch Doctors told me it would be 8 hours of labor to diagnose my problem after taking a short test drive by taking apart the clutch. Aamco looked at my car and determined the clutch needed replacement, gave an estimated price, potential issues, and ended up beating the price I approved. My car has not driven so well in over a year and I am very satisfied and highly recommend this shop.

Rick at AAMCO is awesome. As well as the rest of the staff here. this was our second time taking them our vehicle and both times (alternator) and (entire exhaust system ) were great experiences. These guys understand how to treat people and as a one income 4 person family they understood that we dont have a ton of extra money. Their service is fast affordable and done properly. Great place to get your transmission fixed. I had to use this place in the past and the work was done very well and somewhat affordable. I did feel like it took longer than necessary to get my vehicle back but that was the only gripe I had with my time there.

Had them rebuild my transmission in a 29 year old truck that had never had more than basic service done to the manual tranny. The truck shifts like it was new. Great service and updates, great work. Amazing warranty!

Paul helped me through a seriously frustrating time! I didn’t expect to have my car break down and have the issues that it did, while getting ready to move and trying to juggle a crazy long work schedule with 2 insane little kids. This was my very first time going to AAMCO. Ive heard nothing but great things from friends and family members, so I thought I would give it a shot! I made an appointment for 8AM to get my transmission serviced, timing belt replaced, rear breaks, oil changed and alignment done. I figured that it would take the better part of a day to get all of that done. I received a phone call at 3:45pm saying that they hadnt even started the work!!! After a deep breath, I told them to keep it overnight and to get the work done the next day. Noon the next day rolls around and I havent heard from the shop. I call and they told me that the parts were just getting there and that they hadnt started any of the work yet. 4:55PM comes and I havent heard from them so I call and they tell me that my vehicle is ready for pick up. I hurry down there as the shop closes at 5 and was hit with a bill that was nearly $400 more than what I was quoted over the phone! To their credit, it appears that they got all of the work done but after 33 hours and an extra $400... Im not a happy camper. While at the store the only thing that I was offered was an apology. Thats great, but that doesnt make up for $400 and 33 hours.

I took my 01 Chrysler Town and country with a check engine light on. The told me the best and worst case scenario right off the bat. They managed to fix it faster than they said and quote me a fair price.

I took in my husbands truck and thought it would be a real problem, I was greeted by Michelle and, was really relieved. Michelle assured me that they would check Bills truck at no charge, they did. After about an hour the Manager came up and explained that the light was on because the gas cap was not installed properly but, it tested good. Mark also told me it was no charge and to return if I ever had any questions about my husbands truck or my car. I will be back and so will my friends.

O rating- On the phone the guy said they will diagnose the car at no charge and will let me know how much the charges will be before doing work on it. I got there and he said the transmission and the clutch need to be done but there is no sure way of telling me the exact amount until they take the transmission apart which would cost about $750 but they need authorization from me and the charges would just be passed on to the repair or replacement of the transmission. I agreed to it, and I was there Friday and he said it would be done Monday and that Aamco had a deal with Enterprise Rent A car for the weekend of $9.99/day. I didnt realize that Enterprise is offering that to everybody and not just a special deal with Aamco (I dont really watch commercials and just happened to glance at the TV when I heard the word Enterprise). I was not given a written or verbal estimate so I called Saturday and I didnt have a choice but to have it done or Ill be out $750 for taking the transmission apart. Monday came and the guy didnt even call me as promised so I called back. He said parts were not available so it may be Wednesday and I said he promised Monday so he needs to find one locally. He had promised to call every time I talked to him but I ended up calling him as he never called me. Tuesday, Wednesday came and the car was not ready and I didnt have a choice but wait. Finally I called Thursday and he said it is ready. I am not happy with the customer service and its not the cheapest deal and I swear that would be the first and last time I would ever go to AAMCO (hoping that the work they have done is good and I didnt have to bring it back there). As far as the car there is no sure way of telling whether they did a good job or not, it still has noise but the guy said its normal for at least 100 miles and it would eventually go away. Well see and Ill write something up again. I DO NOT recommend AAMCO as their customer service sucks and not really cheap.

Appointment was easy to get for a Saturday. Diagnosed my problem and let me know my options.

600 miles from home when the Check engine light came on on my Prius with no signs of any trouble I was worried. Made an appointment and took it. Not only did they identify that the Mass Air sensor was the source of the trouble, they found the cause, too much oil in my K&N air filter, cleaned out the ail from the intake tested it again and did it all for free. Honest, friendly and competent, 10,000 miles later Its running smooth as ever.

I would have to say it wasnt to good. They were suppose to fix the transmission and the air conditioning, and a leak with the oil seal. We gave it to them for a week, they didnt take that long to do the work. When we started a trip with it the next day of picking it up they called to tell us they still had the new parts for the air conditioning. A few days later we found a blue thing plugged into the truck under the dashboard. We were in the process of moving to another state so there was no taking it back. I would give them a two. The transmission seems to be much nicer. Havent checked if they did the oil leak but the light is coming on now.

Jim is always the guy to see. He goes out of his way to make sure that the job is done properly and the customer is satisfied. Tigard Aramco is lucky to have him.

My 2007 Caddilac CTS had some major transmission issues Paul and his team did an awesome job rebuilding it and after 2 months its still running great.

Have used AAMCO for a few years, after Leifs stopped doing repair / maintenance work. Theyve generally always done right by me. Though one or two pesky issues were elusive w/o some further research & testing (did finally get the Crank Position Sensor squared away, and replaced under warranty after the aftermarket part failed; OEM Saturn parts are a bit hard/expensive to come by these days). Ive generally found them pretty knowledgeable and their prices reasonable. I like the fact theyll typically do an initial inspection for free to see if its something simple. But, if they have to start pulling / testing parts, some diagnostic fees may apply. They only have a few bays, and are often fairly busy, but theyll usually try to fit folks in for an initial inspection around existing work they may have going on, or let you know if theyre slammed and cant get to it immediately. Overall, Ive been happy with their service, and theyve kept my old SL2 up and running and in pretty good shape.

Friendly, skilled mechanics whom get things done right and for a decent price

I went there to replace downpipe and catalytic converter on my Mitsubishi Evo X. They used parts that I provided. I left the car in the morning and they gave me a ride back home. Afternoon everything was installed and they send a shuttle for me. Everything was done perfectly and fast. Also I payed 2 times less than in other places where I asked for a quote. Stuff was very friendly and if something happens to my car Ill definitely come back.

Ive never trusted another place for my car like I do Aamco in Tigard. Ive always felt taken care of never felt taken advantage. Theyve even helped me when I was out of state! After getting a few recalls taken care of at a dealership, they gave me a laundry list of things that needed correcting that amounted to almost $500. The next day I took the list to Aamco and they corrected the ones that truly needed it for free. Their generosity and sincere care for their customers dont go unnoticed. Ill only ever recommend them.

What fantastic service and honesty. After two frustrating and unsatisfactory trips to Jeep dealers in Portland and Wilsonville I took my Grand Cherokee to Aamco in Tigard. Described what I thought was the problem and they checked and agreed to fix the problem immediately. Took a few hours and a TOTALLY reasonable price. Paul - what a pleasure to deal with you. I highly recommend going here to get your car serviced, because Paul will make sure that you get taken care of and that everything is done correct the first time. I had to get a new engine for my 05 Infiniti G35, and of course like most other 24 year olds I am completely broke and my credit score wont help me get approved for any loans. Paul was extremely patient with me and even tho it took me a week to come up with the money and I already had my car there. Then once i decided to get a used motor he made sure to call everywhere he could go find me the best price. And then do everything he could to try and save me money. He even was going to hold onto my car for me and replace the engine received with another used engine with no additional cost. But because of the techs determination to make my car run correctly they actually were at able to figure out the problem and fix it. Mr car is running so much better than it was when I bought almost 3 years ago.Thank you so much to everyone who was in involved with my service and a big thank you to Paul for making everything go very smoothly and always making sure to call me with updates .Philip Dobaj

I hate to go overboard but the entire experience was incredible.First, they received me and my car exactly at the appointed time; even though there was a car being worked on in every service bay.Secondly, they found nothing wrong with the car after many minutes of monitoring it with a computer. However, they went the extra mile and contacted Ford to see if there was a service update for the issue I had with the car. Ford told them that there was a service update.Thirdly, AAMCO in Tigard told me what their cost to update my system would be and that the cost may be less to get it done at the Ford dealer. They did NOT try to hard sell me on service I could get elsewhere at less cost to me.To sum it up, I didnt realize there were still automotive repair businesses that looked out for the customer first. I recommend this AAMCO location whole-heartedly.As a side note, this experience at AAMCO helped us get $12,000 for our car as a trade-in on a new car as opposed to the $9,000 we had previously been offered.Thank you for your help and since we do have a new car, it is unlikely that we will need AAMCO service, but if we do; AAMCO WILL get the business!!!

If you want to get ripped off and be without your vehicle for much longer than is normally required, bring your car here. If you want to have your vehicle worked on by skilled mechanics, RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN away from this incredibly incompetent business. AAMCO Tigard is the epitome of a shady mechanic. If you are just having an oil change or something simple, they MIGHT be able to do that for you. If you need anything that requires more skill, this place will do such a subpar job, youll have to have all the work re-done by a real mechanic who actually knows what they are doing. This place is a JOKE and its shocking they are still in business. Bring your car here at your own risk and be prepared to be completely ripped off.

2 1/2 hrs to change the oil and filter. Reason soaking the pan gasket off. Wow! 85,000 on it. And its worn out? I know transmissions.... You showed me a small vehicle friction plate. Full size van look much thicker. Is there any transmission shops on this planet that doesnt b.s. or swindle the public ?Just to let you know the full rebuild parts kit costs $200.00.The other $3,300 is labor. A Lawyer is cheaper...Update....Had oil change and was notified that transmission was 1 quart overfilled. Good way to burn up a good transmission. Angered, and disappointed aamco wouldnt respond to this message.

It was Saturday Mid-morning, I find my car not running good and the check engine came on. I called Tigard, AAMCO and asked if I can bring the car in so they can tell me why the check engine light was on {mind you they closed at 1:00}. They found out my fourth cylinder was not firing. They stayed till 1:15 to fix my car. I was so grateful cause my husband works the graveyard shift and he needed the car to go to work that night. Thank you Victor and Gary. I will be coming back again when I have issues again.

First off i do NOT recommend going here for any car care. I took my Dodge Durango 2003 in for a check engine light Thursday morning and was told that they would figure out whats wrong with it by mid day Friday. Already they are off to a bad start by taking sooo long just to check under the hood and run diagnostics... They did no call Friday I had to call them, they told me there was oil leaking onto my oxygen sensors and I would need to replace all 4 sensors and fix the leak. Okay fine, they said the parts will come in today and it will be done end of the day today or before noon on Saturday baring unforeseen complications. I called them again near closing time but it was not done. I called Saturday around 10:30am and they said they are having problems with the job and 2 employees did not show up for work today (which is not my problem!) and told me it may be done today or Monday morning since they are closed on Sunday. So again i called them just before closing time Saturday and they told me they had to break a pvc pipe in my engine to get one of the sensors off but i would have to pay for it. (duh YOU broke it!) So Monday finally comes around and no call AGAIN so i give them a call around 10:45 and they said its parked up and finished. Where is the phone call to tell me its done?! Or any phone for the past 4 working days to update me on whats going on?! Terrible customer service and the parts and labor was too expensive. I just hope the work they did on my engine was sufficient while i drive 10 hours to California...

Weve been coming to AAMCO in Tigard for over five years now. Weve seen a couple of generations of owners but weve always received excellent treatment and service. We have older vehicles and have learned that it is more cost-effective to repair the vehicles you own (and love) rather than purchase new ones. When you repair older vehicles, its always unpredictable; sometimes it takes longer than you expect and sometimes it costs more than you hoped for. However, thats the reality of servicing older cars. Theres no free lunch. The people at this Tigard AAMCO franchise have always been friendly and courteous -- and they stand by their work. If the problem is not completely fixed (or comes back) they will take care of it at no extra charge. We will keep coming back.
