Safety and health checks are not upto markMost guys dont put their weights back or clean benchUpon asking they replied we dont work here..its not my responsibility to keep gym clean and put weights back.Managers are never to be found nor they are bothered about keeping gym clean or asking people to do it. With new covid surge and in order to keep gyms open management should enforce rules and cancel memberships of the ones who dont follow

First time Ive been to this gym. Must say, its A1. Spacious clean changing rooms, no searching for a secure locker, really good hot showers, great kit, fantastic class(as hard as you want to make it), very pleasant staff and busy for early morning which is nice. Recommended.

Too busy for my liking personally. Even if there is enough equipment there are just too many things going on at once. I just cant seem to focus on my workout with so many people around.I also dont really like the pod entrance, it gets stuck if you have a big bag and feels quite claustrophobic. The gym is pretty stuffy as soon as you walk in too.(The cleaning stations are pretty useless with having to spray the tissue)

Lets start with the good points:- Plenty of sanitisation areas- Relatively tidy and clean- Fairly big upstairs area with functional and plenty of cardio machines** Bad points - and why were moving gyms imminently:- Just way too busy! There needs to be a cap. At peak times theres well over 110 people in that gym. The majority in the weights section- Stinks of body odour as soon as you enter. Either reduce the number of people or improve air flow.- Unfortunate amount of chavvy clients- Roid rage - even today. You dont really want to go to work out in an environment like that. The staff seem really friendly! Unfortunately, you cant kick out the anti-social clients, but there should be a reporting tool for poor gym etiquette.Hopefully see you soon PureGym Urban Exchange!

Review №10

The advantages of this gym are the variety of equipment and how big and spacious it is! However, the staff need to either put the weights back onto the racks more often or be stricter with making people put the equipment back after they’re done. The plates, mats, dumbbells, kettlebells are all over the floor (even during quiet times) forcing you to go on a treasure hunt every time you need something. Doubt the “staff are doing everything they can” — The pics were taken with the gym nearly empty.

I think, under the current circumstances, this gym deserves a five stars. Yes it can be busy, like any gym can, but the range of equipment is fantastic. There is always somewhere for you to exercise or some equipment to use. The cleaning staff are never far away, sanitising everything and there are cleaning stations for everyone to use, before and after sessions. The staff are always available for a chat or for advice and the social distancing hasnt stopped them from getting stuck in when needed. Gyms are just another on the long list of places that have drastically changed since the start of covid, but pure gym is a stand out example of how to operate and keep everyone safe.

Good gym with two floors and plenty of equipment, could do with a few more racks for when its busy.- If you are thinking of training in the evening at 5 or 6PM forget it, its hammered, train early in the morning instead if you can.- Free parking for 3 hours which is a huge advantage in the city centre as long as you put your reg into the parking devices inside the Gym, if you forget and you get a parking fine take it to the gym manager and they can try and get it cancelled for you.- plenty of showers think their is about 8 in total, changing rooms are kept relatively clean and tidyoverall a good gym and no real complaints

A couple of months ago I was subject to threatening behaviour and language from another gym-user, during peak hours. Despite having multiple employees around, none of them stepped in or said anything.I immediately reported this to the manager. He spoke to the guy, who denied everything. The manager came back to me and explained that there was nothing he could do about it, despite the fact that the entire incident was caught on camera, and there were multiple witnesses. After I pressed the manager and told him that this was unacceptable, he said that he would “conduct an investigation”. Months later and I have still heard nothing from the manager and I see the same guys walking around the gym and leaving their weights out without replacing them.If you are looking for a gym that is safe and looks after its people, this is not the place for you. Avoid.Update 15th Sept: this was never followed up on by gym management.

The overall value for money is okay but what has bothered me is the volume of the music. Some classes blast out tunes that are way higher than the safe volume and in addition to that conflict with the other background music. (Basically 2 songs at the same time) No chance of playing your own tunes via earphones either as its simply too loud in the background. That can cause stress to the body and that is in my opinion counter productive to an establishment that is concerned with health and fitness.

Ive been with Pure for years and this used to be a brilliant gym but these past few month, its just gotten worse and worse. Dont get me wrong, the staff are great and when its a bit quieter, its actually decent. Now days, it gets so busy at peak times that as soon as you walk in, a bit of your soul dies. Motivation is out of the window. R.I.P.Youll struggle to get on any of the machines, cables or benches. Weights and equipment are scattered everywhere! Gym etiquette here is so poor!! I know its not the staffs responsibility to tidy up after these ill-mannered children but the suspension rule HAS to be enforced because its become an absolute joke. You spend majority of your time hunting for equipment and weights than actually working out.Dont even get me started on the A/C that hasnt been working for how long now?? If no one can figure out whats wrong with it then i think the company needs to cut its losses and just replace the whole system? Probably save money in the long run anyway. The bottom and middle floor absolutely stinks of hot, stale, humid, sweaty socks and armpits. Its pretty horrid.I hope this review will actually prompt Pure to do something about this because lets be honest, no one at HQ reads the comment cards. I understand that space is an issue and popularity of the gym cannot be helped but for goodness sake, at least make the experience more pleasant. Youre loosing loyal customers here.

Excellent value chain gym. Its conveniently located in between the train station / city centre and Ancoats. Lots of equipment and a big floor work / free weights area. Only downside is that it can get VERY busy before and after work., but thats to be expected given its location. I tend to try to go in outside of these times to ensure that I can get on the equipment I want to, when I want to.Its open 24 hours as well which is good, although the changing room (understandably) locks very late at night / early morning.Plus, its next to a big Aldi if you need some urgent hydration or that protein fix!

Ive been to a few pure gyms as I have moved around the country. This urban exchange one has to be my favourite (probably because I conveniently live only 5 minutes away from it). But for the small monthly fee you cant fault this gym – really good value, especially when considering its open 24-7. The personal trainers also run a varied range of classes throughout the days and evenings – starting as early as 6:30 and running through till 8.

Many of the reviews here are not representative of the gym. I have been a member of several gyms and have never come across one as untidy and messy as this. There are always weights / plates / dumbells on the gym floor all over the place. This seems to be constant as I go a mixture of morning, afternoon and evening, midweek and at the weekends. You only really see staff when they are doing PT sessions or showing people round, ie making money or trying to sell memberships. They do not (visibly at least) pull people up on leaving stuff lying around, and rarely do you see staff tidying up the gym floor which is a constant mess. If people were banned or suspended then this would stop happening and improve the culture for everyone. Really poor attitude and as a result a poor culture and gym.

Ive been fairly impressed with this gym, I joined a few months ago and visit fairly frequently. At first I was a little suspect of it being 24 hours with no staff but for a city gym it kind of works. There is of course no pool facilities available, and it lacks the frills that you would expect at a premier club like WiFi, hand towels, etc. But here you get exactly what you pay for, and its quite good value for what it is. Its generally very busy during the day, but visit during the evening and youll get a better experience.

For a gym that charges £17-£20 a month for a membership you cant go wrong here. After work you will struggle to get a machine due to the mass influx of health fanatics trying to get fit, making it better to go past 6pm on a weeknight. This gym is a madhouse in the morning. I usually go to PureGyms outside the city centre and was not prepared for this. Nearly every piece of weighted equipment I needed was being used and all the benches were occupied in the freeweights area. After wandering around for 10 minutes not doing anything except looking for an empty machine or bench, a class ended so I managed to set myself up for some training in there. When it was all over, the dressing room was packed. I managed to get into the last free shower, didnt bother styling my hair that day and did my makeup in my car because every hair/makeup station was completely full with a few women each. Im so grateful this was not my first gym as I would have sworn off gyms forever. People who go here must enjoy the bustle, the classes, or do mainly cardio, but arriving here at 6am and encountering that amount of people traffic was a total shock to the system so I wont be returning. On a positive note, one of the trainers saw my disbelief and did point out where a few machines were for me.
