Delicious, fresh and homemade pastries and buns. The lady who helped me was so nice, definitely gave a welcoming feeling. The egg tarts are delicious, super soft and flaky. The red bean and custard buns were great! For $1.39 each for giant buns, the trip over here was well worth it. Looking forward to coming back soon!

This place is THE BEST ASIAN BAKERY IN TAMPA! I love coming here and get their baked pork buns, dried pork bun roll, coconut custard bun, and crepe cake! I never go anywhere else but here! This bakery has open for so long and they have the best ingredients! My sister and I order birthday cakes here all the time! They have Durian/Matcha crepe cake or their fruit cake is delicious! Their price is super reasonable! If you have never try their crepe cake, you have too! One piece isn’t enough, you have to buy 2! A piece is around $5.00 so if you have a lot of people, I recommend getting an entire cake for around $50.00! I RECOMMEND coming here!!!

Friendly service to go with their delicious buns & cakes. This shop has been a staple for my friends & I for nearly our entire lives. Both the price & the quality of their products are hard to beat. The cake I ordered from their shop was an absolute hit at my wedding.

Wonderful bakery friendly and tastes excellent. We ordered a fresh strawberry cake and they used fresh strawberries, not canned fruit. The sponge cake was not overly sweet and very light. Their mille crepe cakes and baked buns are excellent.

Ive been going here for years! So many excellent options. I love the buns with dried pork and shallots, hot dog bun, coconut and regular custard, as well as the taro buns. A-Mazing.

Just found this and took a box home. The price is great. I’d pay a little more for a better filling-to-bread ratio, although the dried pork bun with the topping on both ends rocks. The red bean bun is good too. The other buns need more filling. I’ll definitely be back.

Very friendly, it is unfortunate that there is COVID19 now, because I can definitely see why this place is highly rated. I will be coming back regularly. We bought the pineapple bun and the mango roll cake. Both were delicious!! Cant wait to buy more!

Absolutely lovely. Small scale bakery, so get there early because they run out of their most popular items quickly. Think of them as a breakfast place if youre going for pork buns.

I got incredible compliments on my birthday cake from here. The cake is light, bouncy, fluffy and with plenty of cream. My friends loved it so much, I had to take them to the bakery to show them where I got it and all the possible customizations. I got a custom cake with all fresh strawberries and coconut flakes in the cream. They also sell their standards fruit cake by the slice...you MUST try it. Everything is fresh. Definitely an under rated place. Modest interior.

By far the best buns I’ve had in the Tampa area! My brother’s actually the one who introduced me to this bakery and I’m so glad he did. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. Portions are huge. Prices are incredibly competitive. I bought both sweet and savory buns for my coworkers and family to enjoy. They all had nothing but glowing reviews to say about the food. We’ll definitely be back!

Lovable Asian Bakery! Im happy we found the source of baked goodies from the nearby markets. We always stop by when in Tampa, and love ordering ahead of time as well. The clerks are always friendly and you get bonus goodies when you buy in dozens. They have taken precautions during the pandemic for the customer as well as their own safety.

The taro buns are so yummy, very soft and tasty. The pineapple buns are also great.

I visited today in high anticipation after reading the reviews. I purchased a variety of items. Most favorite was the passion fruit mousse slice. The least favorite was the egg custard, it tasted like sweetened scrambled eggs - so bad I had to spit it into a napkin. Maybe it was an oopsie batch but I dont be returning from that experience.

Oh my, what wonderful buns. I have been in search of the coconut buns since living in NY and visiting Hong Kong. Went here on Christmas morning and this is THEplace. Fresh, fresh, fresh. Yummm! We recently moved to the Tampa area and have been craving steamed pork buns! They have all kinds of delicious fresh baked buns and they have bags of precooked steamed buns. I bought a bag to keep in the freezer and have been cooking them as needed. This place is super delicious. The customer service was also amazing!They also seem to be taking COVID seriously and have made necessary changes to protect customers and their team. We appreciate that!

We’re so glad we found this place. Another Oriental bakery to go around Tampa. We love their mango and matcha cheese cake but they also have different kinds of buns.We ordered my daughter’s birthday cake here for the first time. We were impressed with the how they made the customized cake we ordered. They were able to put the color and rare design my daughter wanted.The cake was light, fluffy and fresh. This place is okay.In my opinion:The custard bun was decent. It tastes just like its name.The taro crisp is similar to smooth peanut butter onceyou get past the crispy outer texture.The mung bean cake had a lighter flavor, not as strong as red bean and taro.The pork bun was good and has the flavor of Chinese takeout pork.

The cakes are amazing—light, fluffy, and not nauseatingly sweet. The other baked goods are delicious as well, but we’re mainly here for birthday cakes.Yes, my family is Chinese (華人). They can speak Mandarin if your parents or grandparents aren’t fluent in English.Anyhow, support your local Asian bakeries!

I usually love this place. Great buns, great selection, good prices. However, this morning I was highly disappointed. I drove almost 25 miles to pick up buns as a treat for visiting family. I arrived just after they opened at 9:00, but there were no buns in the display case. I was told that the shop wasnt really open yet. When I pointed out that their posted hours were 9:00am - 7:00pm, and that I just walked through their open door, I was again told that that they werent open. When I asked when they would be ready to serve their buns, I was told 10:30. Way too long for me to wait. These folks have been at this location for many years. You would think that they would have figured out by now when they actually were open and ready to serve food to the public. Either be ready at 9:00, or change your hours of operation to reflect your actual ready time. Its not that hard.

The pork bun, or what Hawaiians call the Manapua were really ono/delicious, the best Ive had here in Fl. since back home.

Love this place! The pastries are delicious and the people are always so nice. Prices are good for what you get. And the warm buns within the first 2hours of opening are the best thing in the world.Only thing Id criticize is that the steamed buns need to be refrigerated so getting them at the end of the day is a bad idea unless theyre cold to touch. I had to throw out a batch once because of this since it gave me minor food poisoning. :(

I was looking for something different and this was spot on! The savory pastries are so good and of course the sweets are great too. Really reasonable prices and friendly folks too. I ask them how long they had been in business and was told 30 years yet Id never knew. So go try it out and youll be glad you did.

Excellent, well-priced, pork buns, coconut custard buns, taro buns, cookies, sponge cakes, etc. They have tea and boba as well. Really tasty stuff.To address some of the complaints about the business... Realize the workers dont speak perfect English and some say it comes off as rude, I dont see it that way. Just disregard that and try the bakery. You wont be disappointed, its well worth it.

This place is wonderful and the prices are great for how many buns you get (ranging from $1.00 to almost $2.00) and theyre fairly large too! The staff is really nice and take care of the Bakery really well. Its always been clean of all the times I have been there! I try to go to Fortune Star at least once a week or once every two weeks. Been a customer since late 2015!

It was a nice bakery. I was on my way to the Chinese grocery store on the other side of the plaza when I noticed this bakery. Their baked goods and smoothies are really good. I will make sure to come back next time I go shopping at ding hao grocery store.

I love this Fortune Star Oriental Bakery!! Their pizzas are always bomb along with their pecan rolls (which runs out quite often), corn meal cherry scone (even though I pick out the cherries), cheese rolls, and their focaccia breads!!!
