I’m so upset that we don’t have one of these where we live because I have so many more flavors that I need to try! This was an amazing late night treat tho. I love the ability to mix and match and make your own creations. In the pink is vanilla soft serve and bubble gum gelati and the other is vanilla soft serve, cookie butter gelati, cookies and cream gelati, chocolate chips, and peanuts…they weren’t overly sweet where it’s just too much. Everything was just right! I’m going to try and find a place like this in my hometown or open one myself because this is something I would rather not live without lol

We go here pretty often. The gelati is so good with an array of flavors. I tried root beer this time which was pretty good. My favorite so far has got to be orange and vanilla soft serve, its the best Creamsicle flavor! They have dairy free and sugar free options as well.

Everything you could want from an ice cream shop. Their soft serve is the best Ive ever had, its smooth as silk and tastes fantastic.

This place is such a hidden delicious gem! If you ever get the chance to stop by here do so. You get to sample the flavors and they do not disappoint! My favorite is piña colada and vanilla custard but I also very much enjoy the black cherry with the chocolate custard. We love this place and we have become a regulars. lol

We love to walk to Mr. Penguins for dessert. Their Italian ices are good but my favorite is the soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. Staff is always friendly! Highly recommend.

Was hoping this would be like Jeremiahs Italian Ice in Orlando and was not disappointed, tasted just like it, and will definitely be coming back. Vanilla with strawberry lemon ice is a combination to die for ❤️

Very good gelato and Italian ice

I tried the vanilla soft serve cone and if youve ever had a Mr. Softee ice cream cone in NY Mr. Penguin is the closest to it! OMG! delicious, creamy & just overall yummy. I tasted the coconut Italian Ice and tasted very good. The customer service was awesome too.

The gelati is great! Had root beer/vanilla and pumpkin spice cheesecake/vanilla.

Finally a place with “real” ice cream soft serve Mr. Softie style 😃your go to place for that craving.

Ordered at the to go to window outside. READ THIS BEFORE you order: they have soft serve vanilla, chocolate or twist dairy ice cream. You can order traditional cones and sundaes. They also serve gelati. No, that’s not a typo—not gelatO, it’s gelati which is Italian ice. Flavored Italian ice. There’s this massive list of flavors outside and that is ALL gelati, most of which do not have dairy in it. Lots of fruity flavors. You order the gelati WITH a soft serve to add some richness or you can just order it alone or flavor combos. A fun build your own experience! Kids would love this.I had the bubblegum. I sampled the peanut butter which was a little grainy (it’s dang near impossible to do a water-based frozen peanut butter product that doesn’t grain up, so I gave them a pass on that). Bubblegum was a rich pink color and had great flavor balance. A fun pit stop.

This was a long shot since wed never been, but the outdoor patio was perfect. Grandkids love blue raspberry! Im never fully confident about those slurpy machines, but we enjoyed.

We love coming to Mr Penguin for an ice cold gelati! Generally, it is a perfect experience. The prices are fair and the flavors are excellent. I highly recommend the pina colada and strawberry lemonade flavors. I am giving 4 stars because on our last visit, the employee was really slacking in terms of hygiene protocols. While she was making our gelati, she touched her shoe with an ungloved hand and then went back to using the same hand to finish making it. When she was checking us out, she dropped our spoons on the dirty counter and then stuck them right into the gelati. It was pretty nasty, and we were disappointed because this was the only subpar experience we have had.

Love this concept, Italian ice and soft serve go so well together. They let you mix, match, and combine. The staff are friendly too. I always try to swing by when Im in South Tampa.

Loved it! The custard was smooth and creamy, the shaved ice was flavorful and had little fruit chunks. Good ratio of custard to Italian ice. Fast friendly service and covered outdoor seating. Will be back!

I was skeptical at first. But that snickerdoodle one is fire.

Its hard to describe, but the soft serve ice cream was marshmallow-y and delicious! The Italian ice flavor I picked was pina colada and tasted so refreshing. I had both together in a gelati and was perfect! I recommend if you want some ice cream but at the same time want a lighter treat!

The gelati is amazing! We got the vanilla soft serve with cookie butter ice and chocolate soft serve with peanut butter ice. The soft serve is so smooth and soft, it was like liquid marshmallow 🤤 we’ve passed this place about 10 times, I’m so glad we finally stopped!

I love it here. Looking forward to returning with my friends. Atmosphere is similar to a place in Columbus I loved.

Well this combination had my taste buds worried! But I was satisfied and happy I took the recommendation! My other companions had larger versions of my small and chose some interesting flavors. They were happy and full as well! All you can do is try to say you have experienced this place. DEELISH!!!

**Review of Soft Serve Ice Cream Only** I came on July 4th. They had one poor girl working by herself. Ended up waiting in line for 20 mins. Soft serve ice cream sucked. Paid $8.00 for 2 small cones. One chocolate/vanilla swirl and the other one chocolate/vanilla swirl with rainbow sprinkles. Needless to say I wont be back. I could have gone to McDonalds and gotten better soft serve ice cream that tastes like its made with real cream for half the price. I couldnt even taste the chocolate. It seems they are more famously known for their Italian Ice and soft serve ice cream combo. I didnt try it, so I cant say if its to die for like other reviewers claim. I will definitely go back to visiting my preferred spot Twistee Treat.

This place is pretty amazing and the staff is also fantastic. I know your thinking, so what they are just ice cream and italian ice and I can get that at a dozen places. Mr. Penguins ice cream and italian ice is amazing and better than most places I have been to. In addition the staff always have great recommendations. Ill continue to come here for ice cream and italian ice.

What is amazing about this location is that the way they have the outdoor area set up, it keeps the sitting area cool even on very hot days. So you’re able to sit outside in the shade and eat your Italian ice (add soft serve ice-cream if you’d like) and not get hot. All the flavors are crisp and not too sweet. Also they don’t have that chemical taste that pretend flavors tend to have. Portions are very generous and the staff is fast and friendly. We really enjoyed it here. We go about twice a month.

I have only been here about 3 or 4 times but I can definitely say that everything so far tastes great. This is the type of place that makes even the flavors you dont like taste great. I usually dont like banana flavored foods but their banana flavor tasted great. My friend didnt like vanilla ice cream but she thought their vanilla gelato tasted great. Theres probably 50 different flavors to choose from and you can combine them any which way you want.

Tried a coconut & vanilla Gelati and also a strawberry and vanilla Gelati. Both where okay but the strawberry flavor tasted more like a bubble gum flavor the real strawberries 🍓

What a fantastic place. Me and my daughter really enjoyed the ice and the ice cream and will definitely be returning and turning our family and friends on to it. We found this place on accident because we use the map to take us to Tampa General Hospital and I saw it in passing, circled the block and got us some ice and ice cream on our way to the hospital to visit my mom. Pretty darn good dessert. Had the mango and vanilla and it was a good combo. I feel like there was just a tad too much soft serve to the ratio of Italian ice but it was delicious and I enjoyed it a lot. Will go back for sure.

This place is great for staying open a little late. We were on our way there from a show and the traffic was crazy. So I called and they stayed open until we ate and even until we left! Very nice. Plus they have a reward card!

Never wouldve thought that soft serve and italian ice would work so well together but damn if this wasnt one of the best ice cream stops Ive ever had. The gentleman who was manning the counter made some solid recommendations and was really helpful when my wife and I were giving him a deer in the headlights type look.Will definitely be back and I encourage anyone to visit if your sweet tooth needs sating.

This is absolutely my favorite ice cream / Italian ice place. I love the vanilla soft serve and Ive never had an icee flavor that wasnt good to great.

First experience here and its phenomenal. After looking at the website I was convinced it was going to be weird but it is absolutely delicious. Fast service and yummy gelati! You need to come here.

SO good. I just wanted some soft serve but the lady working gently prodded me to try the gelati (soft serve and Italian ice mixed ) and now I’m hooked! They are so patient with me wanting to try samples and have excellent service . Their boba isn’t bad either .

The gelati is great! The mango Italian ice is phenomenal. I had mine with vanilla soft serve. My husband had chocolate soft serve with peanut butter Italian ice, and I got a bite. The chocolate soft serve has to be the best I ever tried. Yummy!

Mr Penguin never disappoints!

The combination of soft serve and shaved ice make a delicious combo. I decided to channel my childhood and have a root beer and vanilla small gelati. The combination though a bit sweet was a blast from the past. The soft serve is excellent and the combo is delicious. The small size is very generous.

Mr. Penguin is the best Italian ice and gelati around. I have tried several other places but always come back. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, and the selection is always full and plentiful. Fun and family friendly location.

Stopped here visiting the area for a day & wasn’t expecting to find gelati mixed with soft serve! A new fav I’m only sorry that I have to travel 1000 miles to visit Mr Penguin. Black cherry with swirl! To people calling it frozen custard that is not what this is, but it is great soft serve.

I am so lucky to have found this place. I am new to town and went on a small adventure to Davies island. Mr Penguin was a fantastic way to end my trip. I had a small gelati (coconut and vanilla) which was more than enough to satisfy my tastebuds. The flavors were great. There is no shame in trying all of them! The service was also great. I will be coming back.

Soft serve is out of this world!!! Couple it with the in-house made Italian ice for gelati that will change your life. Not to mention unlimited free samples. You have nothing to lose. Try this place ASAP. Its a small walk up window, If youre not actively looking for this place you will drive right past.

Galati is a surprising treat.

It might not look like the most appetizing place... But they serve a very good, creamy soft serve and quite a variety of Italian ices here... You can mix the two and make a Gelati... Thank You Katie, you do a great job!
