I love this shop! It’s my favorite place to pick up unique gifts for my family. Every time I stop by, the staff are so friendly and helpful. They really do have the coolest stuff and it’s nice that the location is separate from the heavy foot traffic at the Market so you can shop without the pressure of like a 100 people all around you. It’s a must see for sure!
One of my favorite stores in any city. Theres nothing like it. I come here every time I visit Seattle.
Love the quirky, cute (and sometimes delightfully raunchy) products. Have been many “shower magnets” with hilarious phrases.
5 stars for kindness. Cute place with lots of great gifts! I stopped by in a bit of panic realizing our Uber was on the way but my stepson lost his required mask. They weren’t selling any but the extremely nice woman offered one of her disposables. I offered to pay for it but she said no. If I ever make it back to this part of Seattle I will visit here again. That kind moment left a lasting impression. Thank you Ugly Baby lady ❤️
Great selection of craft supplies and cute art!!!
I ordered online because I saw this store on TikTok vidoe showing how people were able to window shop without coming into the store by scanning QVC codes through the window display. I thought that was super innovative of them and decided to check out their online shop. Anyway, all of my gifts for my friends just arrived today and Im super happy with them. Everything was nicely packaged with tissue paper and I got several nice notes from the people who work there. Also, the piece of shower art I ordered was sold out so I was contacted by Doug to ask if I wanted the replacement he made or if I would like to pick something else. I thought that was super thoughtful. Best of all, every item I got was truly unique. Thanks for giving me such a great experience even though I ordered online!
Ive stumbled into this shop accidentally on two seperate occasions. This most recent time we followed some unicorns and received a sticker! Its a store entirely made up of local artists! Everything in here is super cool. Unfortunately because their prices are so high, most of the items just werent affordable.
Me and my friends showed up just after they closed and the store attendant, Allison, saw us and unlocked the door to let us in to shop around! She was so helpful, so kind, and informative about the items that they had from local artists. This place is UNIQUE! Gifts for others (and yourself...!) galore! You will not regret stopping in here, guaranteed.
Locals: while youre doing the waterfront/market/tourist circuit with your out-of-town cousins/nephews/nieces/friends kids/your kids stop in here (especially if youre at all a: cat person, needlepoint enthusiast, person who likes baths). Its pretty great. Its small, but packed! I will be back next time Im down here.
Cute little gift shop on the backside of the market. Happened to see it while grabbing a beer across the street at Seattle Beer Company. The items they create and sell will make you laugh. If you like unicorns, cats, mermaids and butts then this is your place to shop!
Never been in store but I purchased the shower art online and had the best customer service experience ever, they make custom pieces as well and was very willing to remake or change anything I wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied. 10/10 reccomend!!!
Best gift shop in Ballard! Very cool stuff always send me text sales the cashiers are always great, it is my go to gift shop!!! I get all my loved ones gifts from there love the store and location 💃💕🤸
Best store, ever! The items are handmade and the shirts are wonderfully humorous, but not over the top. So glad we decided to stop in as we walked by! Neat postcards too!The lady working, who made the items, was very friendly and offered help when we were trying to find other sizes. She always wanted to know which items we were looking at when we would chuckle or say thats so neat! She will make custom items, too!
Love this place!
We followed the chalk unicorns and werent disappointed. The products in the store are super fun and adorable and the woman working there was really nice. Definitely the coolest store we visited in Seattle.
Amazing little shop. Gentleman behind the counter helped me search for a gift for my niece. Even though we werent able to find something he was incredibly helpful.
We followed a chalk drawings of a unicorn with an arrow pointing to the left. What the heck. We followed it and it lead us to what looked like a store for babies clothing. A sign said it was a store with nothing to do with babies.Amazing and hilarious talent in that store! Friendly sales associate.I was surprised at the 1 star review from Julie. It said she went there with friends. Shocking....This place is GREAT!
This is a fun shop, for those of you that dont want to contribute to mass produced crap. Most items made in the shop. You cant get any more local than that. I really enjoyed the edgy humor. Speaking of humor...you may want to be careful with children, unless you want to explain coffee makes my pussy tingle.
Such a cute shop. Loved the adult shower art 😂
Great place to get gifts for the powerful and independent women in your life.
Ugly Baby is such a fun little shop & the owner/employees are all super nice. Their homemade shower art is AMAZING & addicting, you’ll constantly want to go back for a new one & they also make perfect gifts!
Went inside and it was a cute shop will shop their again
Werent sure if we were going the right direction but the chalk robot pointed us there. Fun products with a cool vibe. I loved all the sloth artwork.
Neat subversive, hip, crafty spot. As the sign says, it has almost nothing for actual babies.
Such a cute store. Great for unique gifts.
Wonderful experience at this store. Loved the art and the staff were so friendly! Coming back again
So interesting how I found this awesome little place. I was walking down from the fish market and someone drew a unicorn with an arrow pointing down so I followed it and it led me to multiple unicorns with more arrows down the stairs and BAM! Heres this cute hidden store with a strange name and awesome shower arts lol. It also has cute pins! This is where I got my WA Seattle pin as a keepsake of where I travel in addition to actually buying shower art lol check out the website and store if youre ever here! Loved it!
A quick visit to this funny small store is a must when you are around Pike place market. You would end up picking up one of the things from this place.
Very cute and crazy store. The chalk unicorns on the sidewalk was definitely my favorite thing, so cute.
Unique, remarkable, fun silly funny. The staff are all very kind, and willing to help you find the right eclectit piece for your home.
Cute kits and ready-made handcrafted items.
I came back to Ugly Baby & La Ru since I was in the are visiting with two friends and we were having lunch nearby. One of my friends urged us all to stop by this cute little art shop nearby, and it didnt dawn on my until we arrived that she meant this place (or I would have shared my story. In any case, I was willing to give them benefit of doubt since everyone can have an off day. Wrong decision. Not only were we completely ignored by the same person as last time, one of my friends asked about prices on something and got an extremely hostile, Well, what does it say is the price. To which I replied to my friend, It says nothing because its missing a price sticker or sign, so it must be free. Im sorry you have to even waste your time asking someone who has twice proven to be a completely pretentious art snob. (I have a Ph.D in art history and Ive never felt the need to be so rude to anyone patronizing at art store, gallery or even a class.I promptly left and my stunned friends followed. I hope the counter twit heard me. In my life, Ive never encountered someone who consistently proves to be such a snob to customers, and I doubt seriously she would have recognized me since my last visit (I am about 15 lbs lighter, changed hair color and style and was wearing boots that make me much taller. Regardless, theres no way she should have been rude to my friend, who acted as if she loved everything about the store and is quite polite to everyone. What a complete lack of class - again. Its hard to imagine why someone who sells kitch art in a store thats not getting much traffic would treat people with contempt like that? Personality disorder? I honestly dont know.
My favorite totems and analog memes come from this store
I love Ugly Baby and LaRue because it has unique gifts.
