Love this store! Lots of interesting, beautiful yarn, many by local or indie dyers. When I arrived and asked the shopkeeper whether they had any local/interesting yarns, she gave me a great tour of the store.

Seattle Yarn is an absolutely lovely, welcoming shop. The owners, Destiny and Cheryl, are kind, helpful, and generous. Their employee, Elspeth, is eternally upbeat, smiling, and holds a vast wealth of knowledge of all things yarn and fiber. They’ve taken great care in cultivating a selection of yarn in all price points, with a focus on local dyers and spinners. The place is an amazing community! You should check it out!

A most delightful yarn store. Elspeth and Destiny are always kind and patient with all of their challenged customers. On the weekends Cheryl is here, another talented addition to this local business. The community that they have built is outstanding. It is a warm, nurturing environment and their selection of yarn is the best.

I am a first time knitter with severe anxiety. Destiny (store owner) and Elsbeth (co-worker) are unbelievably helpful and caring to anyone entering the store. I have spent countless hours getting help for a project I am attempting and they are continually giving me encouragement and positive reinforcement. The very cool thing is the Wednesday and Thursday group of women that come in from 6-8:00 every week. They are incredibly inviting, helpful and social. (I am a newcomer to Seattle.) I believe Destiny has only owed this store for a few months and this is a wonderful find for West Seattle. She is WONDERFUL! I feel already like I belong and that I can go in any time for help. I have found such beautiful yarn and materials and I am anxious to participate in the classes that she offers.

This is a very nice shop with very nice yarn and fibers. When I visited today I was not greeted or spoken to but less invited to knit with them the entire time I was in their shop. There was a group that was Knitting and talking to each other but not to me. I love yarn shops and I expected more from this shop.

My first trip was one year ago and it was delightful. The staff was friendly and engaging, the yarn selection was great. I returned this year on my annual visit and there was a different vibe in the store. Perhaps it was just a bad day...the selection was good, the staff not as friendly...

I am so thrilled that Destiny and Cheryl committed to buying Seattle Yarn and making it their own. I love their dedication to bringing in local, minority and woman owned yarns and accessories. The selection in the shop is truly drool-worthy! They and their staff are wonderfully attentive (while letting you peruse the yarny goodness by yourself) and eager to assist you, whatever your budget, skill-level, or project. Seattle Yarn is a top-tier yarn destination and worth a stop (or two, or many)!

The worst store and phone experience ever! Discriminating based on the level of foreign accent a person has and liking/disliking their face. I was standing in the store waiting for some assistance. No one came, while a friendly girl chat was taking place between the sales force.I sat down by the table and began knitting, then I wanted to finally get someones attention. The person, Destiny, showed me the way to the most expensive yarns, without showing I around the store, unlike she did with other customers. When I said that this is is not what my budget can afford, she looked somewhat in disbelief, and finally showed me to the affordable yarn section. What gives?! I realize the store wants to sell their most expensive merchandise, but puhleeeze! at least do not discriminate against customers with a foreign accent.I have no desire to ever put my foot in this store again.

I am new to this world. You are local and I am all about local. I called and asked about needles for embroidery. I got a nonchalant answer. I realised I may not know the correct terminology so I decided to just show up and see. I was greeted with a hello, butthe 2 just went back in to their personal conversation. You DID have the needles I wanted. But I felt like I walked in to a club and got made fun of as soon as I walked out. Will NOT be suggesting this place for newbs like myself.Get Outlook for Android
