French food, mmm, so tasty. Arrived at five, it wasnt busy. Certainly worth going back to. Prices were good for how much you get. I see why this place has a lot of great reviews.
Great scene for delicious french food. Definitely worth a return trip. Prices were average for the menu. Menu is similar to a restaurant in Jacksonville I liked.
French food and the scene here is better than most. I like it here, excellent food & service. The bill was fair I would say.
We live close by and come here often. I really like the food here— usually a easy 5 star— TODAY I had a terrible experience. We were just about to pay and I changed my mind on getting a breakfast sandwich. Since there were people at the sandwich case (COVID social distancing), I asked what are the sandwiches.I had to ask three times. She stood there in silence and then finally told me. I didn’t think much of it— I paid. I tipped. And then she says “You are welcome”.THEN she proceeded to warmly welcome and chit chat with the couple after me.Could we just take a moment and check our unconscious bias here? What’s with the attitude?!
I don’t know why I bother. Their croissants have the consistency of wet paper. Looks really good in the display but that’s about. Don’t be deceived! In Response to the Owner, Yes it was Belle Epicurean on 4th Ave and Madison. I have tried the croissant, twice baked almond croissant, apricot croissant, pumpkin spice, and chocolate pistachio. They all had a wet paper like consistency. Ive tried many times to like this place but its just not that good.
Probably the best french bakery and cafe that I tried in Seattle. All of the different items that I have tried have are amazingly well done. The space it super bright and clean. There is a large selection of goods from cake, to pastry to sandwiches. There is also wine and beer and a happy hour. The macaroons at 2 bucks a piece are an amazing deal.
Hands down the best coffee, hot sandwich and pastry shop in downtown Seattle, prices are a little bit high but those delicious hot sandwiches and brioches, and croissants, mmm! You will not regret coming and eating there. I go there once in a while just to support them with my money and enjoy yummy food and quality Italian coffee, and I absolutely love the fact they give you porcelain cups, I hate hate hate single use disposable cups idiots from Starbucks use!
Great food. Love the peace and calm you can find here. They were very polite and kind and I was very happy about the food! A wonderful and unique coffee shop/patisserie that anyone will enjoy.
Love this Belle Epicurean Bakery & Catering. Great latte, delicious sandwiches and fresh breads. Ive tried the sourdough, white, blueberry scones, croissants (cornettos) and baguettes - all really good. There is seating available, not a lot, but cab seat at least 15-20 and some more outside on a nice day.The staff experience has been mixed - mostly good, sometimes not.Latte is just right for my taste. Ive tried a couple of sandwiches including the tofu one and it was delicious.
All I can say is YUMMY! I bought one of each: pistachio, raspberry, tiramisu, and mango mousse cake. They are very very tasty. Everyone loved it.
Enjoyable experience... quaint Seattle French bakery. Food was tasty but hope you are not real hungry. Coffee was very good. Display case almost empty, not alot of choice, a little strange but over all good experience. I would give them another shot.
Most delicious brioche sweet buns and marcarons in Seattle! Their new location is not as cute, but much easier to get to and spacious- totally worth going out of your way for a treat. Oh and the dessert are all top notch!
What a gem! This place is delicious. Their sandwiches are wonderful, especially the salami and olive (get it toasted!) And the Curry quinoa is perfect. And great coffee!
Expensive, and the customer service is good but not great. You do get what you pay for, quality-wise, and paying more here is generally worth it. As for the service, affordable, good customer servixe-oriented help is a hard thing to come by in wildly unequal, financially-lopsided Seattle these days. Having said all that, if you buy the right things here, they are divine. There are a few weaker links amongst their pastry & cakes, to be sure, but plenty of items here are as good as youll find in any city. My last gateau Breton was sublime perfection but my pain au raisin (not sure if thats what they call it here but, essentially, thats what it was) was an underwhelming use of ~$3.80 Still, mostly yum yum yum!
I used to like this place very much but not any more ...They charge $15 for a plate of spring mix and less than a tablespoons of chicken salad! ... I dont get disappointed soon, but I already tried their salads for more than 5-6 times and everytime told my self that might have been a mistake! ... anyway I wont order their salad lunch option any more which is just a small plate of spring mix with a flavour of your chosen salad!
I was looking for a medium size restaurant with a good variety. Once I got into the place, I felt disappointed. But the coffee was outstanding and the sandwich and croissant we ordered were delicious, to say the least. It was a very good experience!
Great food. A little pricy but the quality was excellent. It was too damn tasty. I had the ham and cheese sandwich. Staff is friendly and cheerful.
Great coffee and beautiful bakery items - they are like works of art! We met the owner and it’s clear that she takes pride in her work. Her colleague was friendly and helpful too. Yum!
Pastry was delicious, but I missed my bus because I was served out of order, and the cappuccino I got in exchange was not worth it. It was so dry it might as well have had a merengue on top, and so over-extracted I might as well have gone to Starbucks. Sad because I was excited to have a decent coffee shop near my bus stop.
I hate to say it, but I feel like this place has gone downhill every since its changed location (not sure if that also included a change of management?) Sure, the space is much larger and modern, but what use to easily be a 5-star establishment I find just mediocre now. Ive seen some new faces since the move and I feel like they are not very friendly or as skilled in their craft. My lattes are now consistently under-filled and overly foamed. The espresso is strong but are now overly sweetened. One of the reasons I used to love this place is that their lattes were consistent and not TOO sweet. Their pastries are still very good and on point. Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt but if the trends continue, I will unfortunately need to find a new morning coffee joint.
Love the new location. It has a great cafe vibe with lots of light and a good amount of seating. Ive only tried coffee and macarons - the coffee seemed average and the macarons were great.
Ordered a breakfast sandwich. It was great and I ate the whole thing, only to discover after that there was a hair in the box it came in. None of the baristas wear hair nets here. They refunded my order but Im still pretty disgusted.
Disappointed. Not expecting a real French experience, just fresh, decent, simple food and a strong espresso. But Im sorry I shelled out 10$ for a sandwich (croque monsieur) that was burnt when first cooked and then reheated in a microwave in the time it took me to walk to a table and settle in.The place was empty so why not reheat in an oven while I drink my cappuccino? --- which was a little weak but tasted better than it looked at least.Someone spent a lot of dough on the decor and probably the rent. What about the actual food? Simple menu badly executed. Why?And may I add, personal taste admitted, mediocre trance and techno might seem an odd choice for a French pastry place. Just saying.Thanks.
Great food menu. Environment was great.
The pastry and coffee are wonderful. The biggest issue is the service. Three different times now I have been greeted then virtually ignored for several minutes while the individuals behind the counter are doing other things, but when another individual comes in they immediately jump to assist that person standing in line behind me. Ive never encountered anything like it, but one of my colleagues has experienced the same. The service standards here need to addressed. If the individuals are busy, then greet and let the customer know it will be just a few moments. To ignore people and then pretend as if they are not waiting for assistance is ridiculous.
Tried the turkey cranberry baguette sandwich. The sandwich was tasty but it was not a baguette bread. Also got the pain au chocolat which was nice. There are a couple of tables inside the bakery but not big enough for large groups. Found the prices a little on the steep side for the portion quantity served.
The coffee is top notch. The food is great. The team is friendly. 11/10
Convenient location below the Fairmont Olympic, just off the corner of 4th and Seneca. Their coffee is excellent- I come here when I want a treat, and Starbucks isnt cutting it. Id say their prices are a little steep for coffee, and a lot steep for pastries that really arent anything special. Customer service is usually fine- nothing particularly memorable. I appreciate having them downtown!
Coffee was amazing (5/5) but the pastries were either dry or too greasy. Nice atmosphere too!
Loved their breakfast sandwiches (the ratatouille one was amazing) and their coffee.
Amazing pastries! Good Seattle coffee. But seriously, get yourself one of their butter croissants.
The espresso here is pretty standard, but the pastries are out of this world. The pear-almond croissant is a personal favorite.
Quite good. I personally like Bakery Nouveau quite a but more - that may be my favorite bakery in all of my travels.
Really good. Will definitely be going back
Amazing food and service! The chevre quiche is outstanding
Delicious! I love their pain au chocolat croissants and their ham and cheese baguette sandwich! Im never disappointed.
Love the peace and calm you can find here. Gourmet food and coffee. Enjoy!
They were very polite and kind and I was very happy about the food! I was very satisfied for this being my first time!
A wonderful and unique coffee shop/patisserie that anyone will enjoy. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great for sitting and reading or catching up with a friend.
Cute place and good service. Liked my coffee and macarons
Have to agree with other review - coffee undrinkable. Cafe au lait was worse than instant airplane decaf and the egg in my breakfast sandwich was so overcooked the yolk was green! Ugh. Cute location & atmosphere across from Starbucks. Hint hint
Makes a proper cappuccino and great croissants. Nough said.
Croissants really good, macaroons colds???no good, sandwichs ok,but be prepare is expensive.
Just had a turkey sandwich for breakfast and it was warm and comforting. Nice quaint little place.
Their apricot croissants are amazing. Of all the places Ive visited for pastries, this remains my favorite patisserie in Seattle.
Its like Im back in Paris. Bacon cheese and onion brioche sand! Delish!
Super fast service on a Saturday afternoon, delicious Croque Monsieurs and pastries to go. We stopped in for lunch before a show and it was perfect.
Love the ham and egg croissant. Coffee was great 3 of 4 visits.
Great coffee and amazing breakfast sandwiches with even better pastries
Great designer coffees. The food is so so. Somewhat awkwardly positioned in the hotel so it is a bit of a trek to get to the restroom, etc.
Great pastries. The quiches are quite good but tiny for the price.
Favorite place to meet for an informal business meeting over coffee within 5 blocks of 4th and University. Very nice croissants.
Great service, great coffee, great food. Pricey, but good
Oh... amazing little coffee and bakery
Attractive cafe, friendly staff, good coffee, very good pastries. And open weekends when many coffee shops in immediate area are closed
All the time when I want to have a lunch there, the soup is out. Despite of that, its a lovely place in Downtown.
A cute french pitstop to grab a pastrie and cup of joe. Great service but the buoldong temperature was about 90 degrees when i visited
Excellent pastries and coffee. Highly recommend it
Try apricot croissants.
Best breakfast Ive ever had! Keep in mind its not fast food, but its well worth the wait!
Good for quick coffee and food
Had the Chai Tea and Salami Baggett... delish!
Delicious food. Friendly and helpful staff!
The coffee was soo good!
Great pastries and pretty good coffee.
Yummy sandwiches and a calm atmosphere.
Great coffee, beautiful surrounding and excellent customer service. I really couldnt be happier with my excellent experience.
Only tried this because of ritual. Food is good but its too expensive for what it is
Cozy. Good pastries. My favorite is their quiche, warmed up, of course.
Food was ok, but the coffee was undrinkable. Tables were dirty but that didnt stop all 3 waitresses having a chat behind the counter.
Great coffee and fabulous pastries!! Not a lot of seating, however.
Had the Mac and cheese breakfast, crossaint, and coffee. Mac and cheese and egg was very heavy for breakfast and felt sick after few bites. The crossaint and the coffee was just average. The price is extremely high for just avg coffee and food.
Great little pastry place! Their macaroons are to die for.
The best French breakfast in town
Best greasy french sandwiches
Amazing French food and good coffee
Overpriced. I only had a cookie and it was just okay.
Clean and fast, friendly.
Almond croissant is so good!
They have a few staples they keep year round and rotate other flavors monthly. Great little spot but a pain to find parking nearby.
Overpriced coffee, unhelpful staff, okay baked goods but not worth 4.25 for a croissant.
One of the best breakfast sandwiches, seriously. go there.
Quaint little coffee shop
Currently just a stand in the lobby with a few pasteries and coffee, dont come expecting lunch.
Awesome breakfast and coffee!
Best croissants ever!
Very good pastry.
Coffee and tea are solid. Dont leave without a pastry.
Save room for a pastry after lunch.
Chocolate heaven, but overpriced
Good pastries.
Great lattes!
Great coffee, good pastries
Great food
$$$$$$ but is excellent
