Amazing store! Lots of items and had a second floor that sold manga English. The items are not cheap but great place for anime fans!

Fun place to visit. Gets extremely full inside the store. Best time to come early morning when they open or near the end of closing. Otherwise, its elbow to elbow inside during the afternoon. Sometimes theres a line forming outside the inside entrance.

What great service!! I called hoping to find some old back issues of a magazine. They didn’t have them. I thought that was the end of it. Then I got a call back telling me that there are none in Seattle or Japan but that the New York store might have them! Turns out they did! Now my magazines are on the way thanks to the kindness and diligence of this awesome man! I am very happy!

I love seeing what this shop has to offer. The prices are pretty average, but the variety cant be beat. They always have such cute merchandise, even if I dont buy anything, I love stopping by.

What a wonderful bookstore! I walked by this store and one day changed my mind. I was surprised! Now it is my favorite place to visit! Kinokuniya Bookstore has lots of books, comics, books, and Japanese magazines. There are so many interesting and fascinating items! A bit of a hike but interesting to shop in the bookstore and the Asian food market. We found several books. They had a lot of other merchandise as well.

This place is great! It is often crowded and the flow of traffic needs a bit of work (a touch wider aisles) but there is a lot to look at! Toys, comics, stickers, knickknacks, pillows, books, puzzles, coffee mugs, plant pots, fancy pens, etc. Definitely a fun place to go.

While its not completely my cup of tea, Im giving the place full stars because it completely fulfills its mission: to be a wealth of Asian and Asian-related books and materials, from language to Manga, Anime to BTS. Plenty of stores in the surrounding market as well.

A Japanese bookstore. They have books in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and English. The actual English book selection is small and limited. As with most bookstores in Japan, a huge area of the store is dedicated to manga, stationary, and gifts. The entire second floor is dedicated to manga and manga-related trinkets and paraphernalia. Most of the manga on the second floor is in English; all of the manga on the first floor is in Japanese.

Really cool place! Has complete japanese volumes of manga and. Other books. They also have all the stationary items one could need with endless notebooks, bens and organizers. Highly recommend

They have such a great selection of Japanese books, and they said if we need anything that we cant find they can always order them for us. The problem was there was so many to choose from, we had a hard time choosing. Were so lucky to have this great Japanese bookstore nearby.

I consider this Kinokuniya to be the flagship location of the Pacific NW due to its sheer size and frankly overwhelming selection of items. Like its (baby) sister store in Beaverton, OR, it has undergone several transformations over the 20-or-so years I have been coming here, but fortunately, it has fared better.The upstairs section, which once hosted the most robust selection of Japanese music Ive found anywhere, has whittled down to a well-pruned collection of the most popular artists and albums. Figurines and an expansive library of manga (in both English and Japanese) has taken over like an out-of-control kudzu. If you cant find a title here, it probably isnt worth your time or money!Similarly, the anime and Japanese cinema sections have also trimmed down to the essentials, including what I can only assume is their best-selling collection: Studio Ghibli movies. In fact, Ghibli memorabilia occupies a sizeable portion of the store, namely near the checkout counter and the windows near the entrance.The magazine section remains entrenched in the same location it always has always, underneath the stairs, but it does feel somewhat slimmer than before. Perhaps it was just overflowing to bursting before, but it does seem slightly anemic. Could also be just nostalgia tinting my memory goggles.The rest of the lower floor is a labyrinth of stationery, kitchenware, clothing, plushies, souvenirs and books, Books, BOOKS! Most of the offerings here are Japanese or Japan-adjacent products, with a healthy sprinkling of local Seattle merch, and the occasional oddball chotchkie. I could (and have) spent the better part of a day (and the better part of the contents of my wallet) here, on more than one occasion. There is just so much to see, so much to covet! Be warned! You will be spending money here, and probably more than is conventionally wise.The Seattle Kinokuniya is the closest experience I have found to replicating the experience of shopping in a store in Japan; a feeling I sorely miss. There is a level of quality (both aesthetic and functional) to Japanese products (even stupid cash-grab trinkets and gadgets) that is not replicated anywhere else in the world, and this is one of those places where you can catch a glimpse of the Japanese culture of excellence. I hope that, even as the store continues to evolve over the years, the heart and soul that makes Kinokuniya unique (in the US, anyway) never changes.

Absolutely love this bookstore. Its so hard to walk out of here without purchasing a good read, an abundance of adorable plushies or unique stationary items. You will find so many things that you will end up in this store for countless hours. I love that they carry books from Yuko Higuchi here. The staff is always so wonderful and helpful!

I have always loved Kinokuniya. They always have awesome stuff to find. Its fun just to browse and see the Japanese goods, but I do also find some things to buy that Id have to otherwise get online, like figurines.

Good luck finding a better panoply of Anime + Japanese cultural gems. This store is awesome.

I love shopping here for Japanese stationary, crafts, washi tapes, anime and of course cute stuff. They have a whole section of magazines translated into Asian languages.

Great place for Otakus/weebs, and also K-pop fans. I bet there is over 7,000 books including manga, lightnovels, magazines, etc. There are also many fingiuries, accessories, and merch that many would love. Honestly, its the best store in America that I know.

This is an awesome store to visit. There are two floors. The first floor has books in Asian languages, Japanese manga, and lots of cool gifts and accessories, including official Studio Ghibli merchandise! The second floor is entirely anime-themed, with tons of anime gifts and merchandise as well as tons of English-translated manga. Service is friendly and the store is quite cozy. I really enjoyed my visit here.If you plan to buy merch and souvenirs here, come ready with a fair bit of spending money as most items are a bit on the expensive side due to being imported or otherwise quite exclusive. However, the prices are quite fair considering those factors.

Awesome shop inside the mall/grocery store. Def not a comic book shop, but a manga and anything with asian (mainly japanese and Korean culture.) I say this cause I typed in comic book store and it was the first to show up.

Love this place

Extensive selection of manga and art books in both Japanese and English. Not to mention the various other collectibles and stationery on the first floor. Its very cool that they sell officially licensed Studio Ghibli merchandise, too.

I enjoy the variety of snacks in the shop. The sushi and to go food was actually affordable but took quite a while for me to familiarise on my first few days there.

There are English books, but all the manga and magazine books are either in Japanese or some Chinese translation. There are also some cute stationary towards the back.

Always a great trinket, craft and most importantly bookstore. I wish I could afford everything I wanted, but Im very happy with what I have gotten here.

Wonderful snippet of Japan life, a book store directly from there; My only disappointment is the disappearance of their fiber crafting section. When this bookstore first opened, there was an abundant and fabulous section with all manner of: knitting, crochet, lacemaking, felting, etc - and showcasing the uniquely Japanese take on these crafts - SIGH - but no more ... So only 4 stars, not 5.

The best place for any anime/manga lover! Come often cause some unknown shows can get a discount, and theres always new manga getting put in! Recently Ive seen some translated light novels too, buy some so we can support the author and get more! :D

Lots of interesting things to look at but a bit pricey. Lantern Press postcards are reasonable ably priced, but the selection now is a bit meager.

The bookstore feels very authentic, like you took a step into Japan. The stationary, plushies, and novel selections were diverse and plentiful. If you are not japanese or can read japanese though, >50% of the store is kinda off the table. There are some translated novels and manga though.

Its a fun cute little place. I never have any issues here and its one of the few places that always stocks one of my favorite book series. It takes time to get to but its worth it for a bookstore that feels cozy and has cute stuff.

To start off, kinokuniya is an EXTREMELY fun store to be in! shelves and shelves of books and manga and stationary and plushies, its almost overwhelming how much cool stuff there is to look at. Theres a Japanese and a Chinese section as well as an English section, which is all fine and dandy and really convenient for those who only speak one of those languages and maybe not the other. Its a rather large store, but things are packed tight so it gets a little claustrophobic occasionally, but this is pretty easy to avoid if you know where youre going. The second floor is usually where I spend most of my time, and I suggest you take a peek up there if you havent done that yet :) the staff is nice and respectful, and overall, if you dont get super stressed out about having a bunch of options and cool things you can buy, this is a really great store to spend some time in.

I love the stationery supplies and cute items in the store. I always find something new and interesting when I am in the store. The mechanical pencils are expensive but well worth the cost. I love my pencils from there.

I went there 2 days ago, and it was amazing! Kinokuniyas books are very diverse in Asian literature! I bought the Demon Slayer manga, and they had it in English and Japanese! Also Uwajimaya Village is very exciting to be at! (for people who want to buy manga or anime related things, go on the 2nd floor of Kinokuniya Bookstore.) Ill definitely be going there again!

Japanese, English, and Chinese selections with plenty to choose from; lots of books but also anime DVDs and Manga, plenty sealed in plastic (I found Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop and others). Theres also a dedicated Studio Ghibli section. The anime/manga area includes art books, drawing books, some figurines etc from different anime as well as Godzilla.

My happy place. I always spend way too much money here.

The staff is both caring of safety and providing excellent customer service. I love that they have a wide selection of both English language and Japanese language books. Their huge manga sections (both English and Japanese languages) keep myself and my son very occupied.

Great asian focused book store. Lots of foreign language books, manga, and magazines. Plenty of selection in English as well. Large selection of toys and games, specifically japanese blind box toys, character plushies, and memorabilia from many popular series.

This is probably my favorite location, comparing against the New York Kinokuniya. Its so fun, and theres so much to explore, especially if youre into design, art, writing, stationary, or anything Japanese pop culture. I make a point of stopping here any time Im nearby and grabbing some new pens and anime keychains.

I stopped at the import store because I had called earlier they had said they have a certain item in stock. So I 1st ran to the location and sure enough they have it. It was a pilot fountain pen. The gift was to be for my daughter who is in the hospital recovering from a burn. She is such a wonderful daughter that I wanted to get her something special. This beautiful purple pen would certainly fit the bill.Looking around I further found some beautiful paper for her to write upon. Some of the paper had beautiful flowers with matching envelopes, I got those. Another stack had a whole invelopd full of loose papers with different types of looseleaf paper. Yet another have a tablet that was similar to handmade paper, I got this one for her as well. Then I picked up a few more envelopes for her, and walked on to another section.Soon I found I had walked all over the store. How interesting each section was, I found met so many things to keep my interests and it was hard not to keep wandering letting one thing lead me to another. I just covered the store had such a wide variety of imported goods that it is hard to classify them all. This is a large store, filled with shoppers Kala so come prepared to do battle to get whatever it is you need.I did find the clerks and assistance, very helpful, attentive, and courteous. When I was wrong up my transaction was accounted for efficiently and professionally. While the store is well laid out, I think handicapped persons link find it difficult to meanders through here. There is a second floor, and I did not see an elevator. I dont know for sure if there is one or if there is not 1I just did not see it.

I originally went to this store because my kids wanted Manga books, but I have found many wonderful things while I wander around waiting for them. They have beautiful pop up cards, a great selection if calligraphy pens, notebooks, gifts and of course books. Employees are helpful and I like that drinks and food arent allowed and hand sanitizer at the entrance/exit

Although things tend to be a little pricey, I get my fill of anime merchandise here, so Im happy it exists at all! Im curious if this location differs from other locations, as I also enjoy looking at foreign imported stationary and comparing that to local stationary items...
