No matter how many times I try, I just never can find the book Im looking for in Amazon Books store in University Village. Its a pleasant store to roam, as bookshops often are, but ultimately it just never worked for me. Capitol Hills Elliot Bay Book Company is incomparably better.

Friendly staff, great book selections and nicely organized space. Didnt find what I was looking for but it was still nice to see the same Prime pricing in an actual store as online on Amazon.

Pros:Charging station - you can sit and charge your devices if need be. I didn’t use the outlet as I didn’t need it, but I assume they actually work.A place to relax - it’s nice to be able to sit down indoors on a dreary or rainy day. (This store is located in an outdoor mall and the mall offers lots of outside seating.)Multiple book locations - I’m for it because if a book is too low or too high, you can see it at eye level in another spot. Also, sometimes the way the brain works it needs time to percolate on something, and then the info will click and you might be ready to buy it a few minutes later versus just passing on it completely.Bathroom - I tried to find the bathroom in the mall, but there was confusing signage by the elevator and I got lost in the garage.Prime deals - if you’re a Prime member, you can find deals all throughout the store. Pay attention to the tags.Very helpful staff - there was a price discrepancy and the lady fixed it right away. Also, I was greeted and offered assistance during my time browsing.Transparency- some of the magazines were out of date due to the pandemic. The store put professional signage up stating why some of the magazines were out of date.To improve:The price of one book rang up more at the register versus the shelf tag, but it was easily fixed (see above). The person assisting me was very professional about it.

Great store! You will find all the top reviewed books sold by Amazon. Lots of sales for Prime members! The staff was also very friendly. Just know that they dont accept cash, just card payment. You will also find Amazon Alexa products and some other top rates articles.

Prices are great just like online and way less than at any other brick and mortar bookstore. Selection has its pros and cons. Its all best sellers so its not hard to find something you might like. However that means you wont find anything different or unusual. They have historically rotated the stock very slowly in some categories (particularly non-fiction) so if didnt find something you were looking for the last time you were there they likely dont have it now either. Finally, the store is increasingly being turned over to small consumer electronics, housewares, etc. which I suppose have higher profit margins but makes the book selection even smaller.

+ Amazon books is like an airport bookstore: dont go there to buy a specific title you had in mind. But you will see all the titles that are currently on bestseller lists or recently got reviews+ large section for serious graphic novels for grown ups. The Washington University bookstore has one large shelf top to bottom, Amazon books has three.+ large kids section+ the biggest positive is that the store is not curated like the typical indie- or university bookstore by far-left buyers that select only authors that are to the left of Bernie Sanders. Amazon books doesnt have this ideological approach. Shelf space goes to titles with the greatest sales velocity, not to politically correct titles by socialist authors+ its great that the prices can be checked easily by scanning the barcode and that they are exactly what you would pay on Amazon Prime. It gave me great comfort to shop with the confidence that I couldnt save money by ordering titles online+ sales associates seem much brighter than at Barnes and Nobles.+ good water fountain for refilling water bottles. Clean bathrooms.- Like other reviewers of this store, I was approached by a sales associate when I was snapping the pictures associated with my review. I apparently look very frightening because she seemed nervous and really had to force herself to approach me. I assured her that I never bite on a first date.Bottom line: finally the politically incorrect bookstore I have been waiting for all these years!

This is the first time Ive ever been to an Amazon bookstore. In Seattle however its a local bookstore. Kind of crazy to the rest of the country. The most interesting part of all is that they now have a palm scanner. They can photograph your palm and then from then on you can pay just by sweeping your palm over top of the reader. Thats crazy.

While Amazon is a nice addition to the U. Village, it doesnt have the charm of Third Place Books. However, it is well-stocked and convenient.

Fun brick and mortar location for Amazon and great location near UW. The selection is great, because they only stock highly related books, but does get limited if you want more options. All their stores have a large childrens section. You can also use your prime membership to get prime pricing if you just swipe one of your cards on file like any other of their stores.

I wish we couldve it in Vancouver. This store offers the space for you to walk around and look for some books you might interested in. I love to touch by hand and read the reviews before buying books. The store is neat and bright.

This is always a great place to spend some time at when we’re visiting University Village. My family loves that it’s not just books here too-we find neat gift ideas and interact with new electronics and tech and it’s nice to see all the stuff we usually buy on Amazon in an actual store.

As this was only the second Amazon bookstore that I had ever seen I had a great experience and left with a product that I needed to order, but conveniently I picked it up in person at this location. The staff was extremely helpful and one associate actually gave me a tour when I mention this was one of the first ones I had ever been in.

Its alright if youre looking for fairly popular books but they have a pretty limited selection of books. Furthermore Its pretty much what youd expect where almost half the store is them displaying gadgets. At least if you have amazon prime you get a pretty good discount.

There is not a lot of choice for books. You have to order online with them. They do take Amazon delivered return if their online platform gives you that choice.

I am a very frequent and loyal amazon customer both online as well as in their stores and spend several hundred dollars a month with them. On multiple occasions one of the employees at this store, possibly a manager Im not sure, has gone out of her way to be rude to me, humiliate me, and even prevent me from being able to make a purchase. She frequently insists that she hold any merchandise I plan to buy behind the counter until Ive paid for it. They dont have shopping baskets there so I wouldnt mind this if she didnt make a scene out of it making it clear that shes under the impression I planned to just walk out with the merchandise with out paying for it. Once I was being rang up by another employee she decided to step in and take over making up one ridiculous policy after another that I know are not real because theyve never been a problem in the past not to mention that most of them didnt make any sense so I was able to overturn them. When she discovered I was paying partially with a gift card balance she told me I was not able to purchase Apple Airpods with a gift card which is a complete lie and also that in order to use my gift card balance I would need to have the physical gift card with me in the store which was also a complete lie. Anyone that uses amazon gift cards knows that you cant even spend the gift card in store by swiping it, it actually has to be applied to your account. Once youve applied a card to your account theres really no point in keeping the physical card especially in my case Id purchased the card months prior. She literally was trying to make it impossible for me to make my purchase. Every time I have gone to this store she has made a point to make my experience unpleasant and I have no idea why but I have heard from other people that they have had similar experiences. I finally decided it was worth the extra drive to instead just go to the south center mall location where they have exemplary customer service as well as a bigger selection and much cleaner more comfortable atmosphere.

Amazon Books is always clean, organized, and incredibly well curated. Can always find great gifts for self and others here. Staff has always been friendly, too. And the University Village location is dog-friendly.

More than just books. Its like Amazon but a store. Lots of cool things. The books are all rated 4 Stars or higher on Amazon.com. lots of gadgets, cables and theres a whole section of kids books sorted by age range. This was my first time going there and it will not be my last.

Had some time to explore the childrens books section while waiting for a table recently. Its terrific. Books are beautifully displayed and well described and curated. The store is configured for browsing, less so for finding something in particular. This is a great place to gift shop or to just take a little time to explore. Staff were friendly. My kids enjoyed playing with the many Kindle Fires setup throughout.

Compared to other stores, in the same mall, the Amazon books store feels a little cramped. Their recent edition of selling four-star products, from the Amazon website, is a nice touch. The staff there is both incredibly friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They have a returns kiosk, where you can return certain items that were bought on Amazons website.

I had never been to one, it was set up nicely, the staff was courteous, and the store had a lot of interesting things.

Dont see the reason of having a store when you can buy English books online. Dont see books in foreign languages. Not cheaper than its online counterparts.

Great selection of sci-fi books

Amazon is trying hard. And it shows with this brick and mortar store. You wont find a ton of books here, but all the books on display are rated at least 4.5 stars by users online. Another cool design choice is that every single book is faced outward thus allowing the covers to literally sell themselves. That and the fact that all the books are evenly spaced on all the shelves make this a paradise for anybody with OCD.

Visited briefly while waiting for the Apple Store to do work on my computer. It seemed more like a theme park, or mock-up from Second Life than a real book shop. I imagine they think theyre being revolutionary for rethinking the bookstore format. The result is generally useless to anyone who has been around books for most of their life. Go to Elliott Bay, Third Place, or University Books instead.

My girlfriend is a huge book worm, I took her here and she loved it! While their selection may be a little smaller than a Barns&Noble, Amazon Books is a great example of quality over quantity.

Its a great store for sure but I expected more wow. Browse best selling books, get demos of Amazon Hardware. The store is small, its not meant to hang out longer, no comfy couches etc.

Theyre always welcoming and very friendly. They have a ton of books to choose from, the store always look clean and brand new and the employees are always giving me help or information about the store or books if Im looking for a certain book. I enjoy my time when ever I go to Amazon Books.

A wonderful bookstore and showroom for other Amazon products. I enjoyed my first chance to visit the store. Of course I found some books to buy.Interestingly, the young staff made a point of greeting all of the younger store visitors but seemed to overlook my entrance. Could they tell I was a stockholder or customer since Amazon only sold books?

This is a neat bookstore. Its also a really convenient place to drop off returns to Amazon. Every time I go there to get a book I end up paying way less than I think I would, and they usually tack on some promotion for audible. Do recommend!

U Village is a epicenter for shopping, but noticeably lacks a book seller other than Amazon Books. The shop is pleasant, comfortable, and always filled with an ever-changing assortment of titles, tech, and trinkets. While I do wish they had a few more topics in their stacks; its a fairly broad spectrum of the most in-demand books on Amazons online storefront, so theres never a lack of something new to read. I give it 4 of 5 stars only because Id much prefer a local book seller over a corporate one, but I enjoy books so much its still an excellent resource.

Well, this store started out more than a year ago well. The customer service by staff has been consistently excellent, but store policies have worsened. When it opened, all book and merchandise pricing was the same as on the Amazon web site regardless whether you were a paid prime member. Now, you must be a paid Prime Member to get Amazon Web Store pricing. If you are not a Prime Member, you pay full retail. So non-Prime member can get a better price at University Bookstore, Elliott Bay Books or Third Place Books. Now lets talk selection. It is an algorithm store. In person, they only stock frequently purchased books on web site. So if you want to find a book stocked that is just a bit specialized it is not there.The question remains in the shoppers mind. Why shop at a physical Amazon Book store. Here, there is a narrowly tailored selection of books in stock and to get a good price you have to pay the Amazon Prime membership fee.Yuck!

Love amazon bookstore! Best return counter for dinosaurs like me ever! Easily accessed by bus and hiding out in the northwest corner of the swankiest shopping destination in seattle. I can duck in and get out before the urge to cant pay more for something hits me! Whats not to love?! Customer service A+.

Considering amazon is known for its online goods, this store was tasteful with great selection. You can use your prime membership to check out with your phone as well.
