Locally operated computer store where service is their way of doing business. This is exactly what you wont get from the big box retailers, except for pricing. I wont shop anywhere else for my computer needs.

I have been in here 3 times and I have found them to be knowledgeable, extremely helpful and very courteous. When I have a computer issue I am there and knowing once I walked in the door it is going to be okay. Highly recommend.

I heard these people are very knowledgeable about computers, but I did not have mine serviced by them. It was just a bad customer service experience. Its not actually helpful to have a group of people say random things to you like turn your computer on and do xyz instead of listening to the customer. If the British lady (?) could listen to people she would have understand my computer doesnt turn on, so her advice was moot. Very frustrating experience. I called in advance about my laptop and was told to bring it in, then all the staff acted like I was crazy for bringing it in. Within one minute of coming in the door they told me they cant do anything for it. If you only service laptops with easily removable batteries, maybe advertise that? Or tell people on the phone when they call about laptop repair? I can mail something back to the manufacturer or take something back to the store myself. The lady there came off so condescending. She actually said to me see that green part? Thats the motherboard. Thats like the brains of the computer. Im not 6 years old you and dont have to talk to me like Im an idiot and give me a lesson on motherboards. Luckily, theres another shop across the street.Edit to add: I cant reply in this thread but the response below from the store asked me to update. Its a few hours later and my computer is working fully. Im typing this on it right now! I brought it to a different shop, on Gulfgate just across 41. My laptop was definitely very banged up, I know, and to be fixed I needed someone willing to open it up and fix the connections. Im fortunate it was fixable and only $150.I think it was just a case of the wrong repair job for a particular shop, and needing to find the right place, where they maybe do this particular thing more often. I guess not everywhere opens up the kind of laptop I have that is sealed all around the battery, etc.

Besides possessing ultimate knowledge of computers, these people are friendly and understanding. They lean over to do a good job without hitting you with a huge bill. They try to solve your problem without having to charge you immediately like the other computer shops. 5 stars for honesty and integrity.

This place is fantastic. I wish I had discovered much earlier. My computer got fried and Doug was able to rebuild a new one while still maintaining my programs and files. On top of that he spent hours showing me how to operate the new upgrades.

I went in to get a tower and a power supply, the owner and all the employees were incredible. This is not the one-teacher per device with a fifteen person class size, They offer an hour of dedicated face time where your questions get answered. I often have questions about the compatibility of certain pieces of hardware and need technical information on available work-arounds for making it work... and I need all of this without having to navigate through ignorant sales people serving as warm bodies... Hey-sus!, I thought I would never get to the guts of this exercise. I have fiddled withDiscount since 1994, bought three desk tops all the way from 3.1 to Win7 Pro withXP. I have been happy as they get it done, most of the time. Sometimes with my machine in their shop, with a list of stuff that requires looking at they tell me all is GObut they have missed fiddling with an item that I locate on the pick up. Then they fiddle with me looking over a shoulder and in a not so shabby learning experience.In essence, for over the past twenty one (21) years, I give Discount an A.

Theyve always built me great gaming computers that ran flawlessly, including a gaming laptop that ran perfectly smooth and never once overheated, even with all day use.On top of building great rigs, theyve always been able to fix any problem me or my family has come in with and go the extra mile to get things working again. I have had three computers custom built by Discount Computers over the years. Each computer was handed down through my kids as I upgraded. I would tell Doug my computer needs and he made recommendations that surpassed my needs and stayed within my budgets. While I had some hardware knowledge from my job, there was still a lot I didnt know and they were never condescending about the areas of knowledge I lacked. As a prior programming student of my dad, Doug has always kept up his knowledge of what was current and what was changing. He hires staff that know what they are doing. I have never had a problem with repair service and sent other people to him for service and no one has ever had a complaint. I have since moved out of state and made the mistake once of custom ordering a laptop online from Dell. Had I known how screwed up that would get, I would have had Doug do one and ship it to me. My next custom need will definitely go back to him!

We have been buying our computers and using Discount Computers services for over ten years. This is a very different and very much better computer-buying and maintaining experience than anything out there. Remember that one usually buys a computer on-line or at a store and have to go home to set it up yourself. Buy your next computer at Discount Computer there and you will get a lesson during which you and they will set it up and get you started just the way you want it. Problems you run into are solved by another (free) tutorial, and sometimes over the phone (free again). Only actual repairs (say, your virus protection product fails, or you drop it on its head) are charged. Since they built it, they know exactly what to do to set it right. I cant say enough good things about these good people.

On March 4, 2014, Discount Computers 25th Anniv, I bought my first computer from Amelia & Doug Manning, who own Discount Computers, Inc, 6524 -B S. Trail, just south of Stickney Pt. I knew I was getting a good quality computer from good people who could back their product up, as Ive had Jim fix my previous computer there, many times, with integrity, honesty, & a fair price.Since then, your free classes have helped me tremendously!When Jim fixed my computer, Doug always answered my questions in full detail. I never left with a question mark over my head. He & Jim have always made sure I understood every little technicality.You guys put so much genuine enthusiasm for not only your service, product, & teaching ability,You put your heart into it, and I thank you for that.
