30Jan2021: Made a quick-trip into this Food King store on St. Michaels Dr. in Santa Fe (NM).I enjoy frequenting this community grocery store because of the varieties of southwestern-based food items sold there. Youd be hard-pressed to find many of these grocery items at the so-called big box stores.A store Security person is always present at the stores entrance and greets customers warmly! Automatic doors provide easy access for elderly and handicapped shoppers. Parking is plentiful for its customers. Shopping aisles are not very wide, but that (to me) adds to the appeal & charm of this business. Shopping CARTS need upgrading or at least greased & oiled.Floor Staff and Register Staff are super helpful and attentive. Its very obvious that Staffers AND Management take great pride in doing what they do!I stood at a Self Service Checkout behind an elderly woman that was being assisted by a Food King staffer. He was actually scanning HER groceries FOR HER at the Self Service register! I thought THAT was SO kind and thoughtful and respectful!Im an able-bodied male, 200 lbs and 61. I just KNEW once he finished helping HER, he would look at ME next and figure, He can scan his OWN groceries, but he didnt! He quickly scanned my 4 items and, also, THANKED ME for shopping at Food King and wished me a good day!Much thanks & RESPECT to him, Mr Cesar, at Food King Store #89! They add an additional 10% surcharge to your grocery pre-tax total but youll STILL save money because their prices are already LOW!🙂Love that Ol Skool Vibe at Food King! Not a lot of fancy bells & whistles. Just down-to-earth, common sense grocery shopping!Local Santa Fe (NM) residents, also, depend on this Food King store for their daily grocery necessities. ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This store is amazing. If you get EBT you get the 2 for 1 thing with the fruit and veggies like if you were going to a farmers market. Its cool! They say that they buy everything at cost and sell it to you at cost plus 10%. I do not think they charge the 10% for EBT customers. The people that work there are super cool too!!!!! Will definitely be back. Oh did i say i live around Tramway & Lomas. So it is a bit far and with the cost of gas it has to be really worth me driving that far. I got mild chili for 10 because i used my EBT card. Hamburger at Albertsons Market is between 15 and 25 for 3 to 7 pounds. Paid 15 for 9.75lbs. I know the 10lbs roll at walmart is 24.98. And its the 73%/27% lean. So that is a great deal. They have family packs of meat as well like steaks, pork chops and chicken that were under $20 a package. I know the last time i purchased beef i had to go all the way to El Super because they are cheap sometimes cheap. For 7 medium thick steaks were 4 something a pound so i paid something like 25 or so for them. Just crazy and .99 for gal of milk cant beat that when its 3.50 to 4.75But anyways!!!!!!GO SHOP THERE AND ENJOY THE GOOD PRICES!!!!

Great prices, clean store & restrooms, and even a few brands not available elsewhere, I usually stop here when visiting Santa Fe as cheaper than Walmart or Albertsons. The last time I was there a friendly butcher even greeted me and said to let him know if there was anything that I needed but couldn’t find and he would locate or cut it.

They have food choices and products that are not sold in places like Walmart. How ever they did not provide paper bags or plastic bags at check out so I had nothing to contain food items like canned goods. So strange.

First time in store picking up dinner for my nephew and our family. Nephew had met me inside with his school backpack and I had taken it from him and put in basket. We continued to walk around the store and do our shopping and was approached by 3 staff members who began to harass my nephew and myself. He is African American and Im multi racial. We were followed around the store we are about to pay for our groceries and then had the cops called on us we are very frustrated with the service we have received we have reached out to corporate were hoping that you do the right thing and are willing to contact us to figure out the underlying issue that we have seen at your store. I have never had an experience like this being the first time walking into a store if this is how customers are treated on a regular basis Im sad to say this business will not survive. I hope someone reaches out and does the right thing

Economy shopping. Too much processed foods some fresh fruit and veggies even with added 10% still less than Albertsons or smiths

They need to get better employees. First Some guy acting as if he was security was harassing middle schoolers telling them to leave their bags by the entrance. He was hella rude everyone and acted as if he ran the store. No management or anyone did anything to stop him. There is plenty more of rude empolyees. Some dont wear their mask properly as well.

Hamburger ground meat was 1.59 a pound. pork chops were $1.49 a pound, thick & good quality. I have not seen these prices for 20 years. Gala apples were $0.97, the cheapest Ive ever seen them lately is $1.49 a pound. Prices are great. What they have, is at a good price. Strongly recommend them🙂

Called Food King meat department this morning and checked on item and price. Associate stated item is not a special order, regularly stocked item at $8.99 per pound (in stock). Drove from Albuquerque to Santa Fe only to be told specific item was no longer sold. Didnt give information as to when they stopped stocking and selling this meat item. Didnt apologize for their error (incorrect information) either. WHY DIDNT I GET THIS INFO WHEN I CALLED!!!!!!! Wasted trip, time, money, effort when it could have been avoided. Perhaps Management and Supervisor in meat department do not understand Accurate information and Accurate communication (English) is critical especially during a pandemic. Avoid possible exposure to virus!!

I wish I didnt have to even give food king a Star. The front end manager, if he even is a manager didnt let me bring my service dog in even when I presented the papers. Worst costomer service ever. Besides that the other clerks are amazing helped find items that I could find.

I like all the people that work here theyre pretty cool! And its a good place to go get a cheap drink or something like that. They also always have good deals on their chili pods and when its chili season also to they have good deal on beans on new crops from time to time. Dont go expecting a good shop in there and save a bunch of money. This is like any other grocery store they got great deals on some stuff in the rest they try to make up the money on. But for how conveniently located from my house it is its a good place to stop and pick up a few quick things

I charged $19.99 for green Chile for 4 sacks then manager comes out and recharges me 75.00$ because there cashier was not better trained.. I would personally say the management was not friendly nor professional. Highly not recommended shopping at this unfriendly environment.

I had not gone shopping at Food King in quite sometime because it is not near my residence. I decided to stop and take a look at their meats and vegetables. I was pleasantly surprised to see the meats were pleasant to the eyes and so reasonably priced and then to find out that they actually have a real Butcher Shop where they process the meats. I dont know of any other grocery store that has this. I will surely return.

Major name brands are a bit cheaper, but not so major name brands are great to get here. I get sparkling water, canned food, tortillas/breads, cheeses, etc. For really cheap here. It is definitely great to go here when on a budget. Everyone is usually pretty nice and Im sure 99% if not all the people there are bilingual Spanish/English. They have a wide variety of options for groceries, general household items, drinks, snacks, etc. Definitely recommend.

This is perhaps my main grocery store. They add a 10% surcharge, which is their margin but are competitive. They offer some ethnic items, that other stores do not offer. I usually watch for their weekly specials.

Produce and meat selection could be so much better. Produce is ok but I find it to be wilted, rotten and usually expired every time I shop here. Meat selection is poor. Bad portions of meat, unusual cuts, more of a Mexican selection style of cuts. No disrespect but its noticeable as I know the difference. Prices are not like they used to be. Everything has gotten so expensive its like shopping at Smiths or Albertsons grocery stores. The extra 10% fee per transaction is a lot considering that the prices of products are higher than they were not long ago. Seems that prices were extremely low in the beginning, only to gain attention and customers. As soon as this was established, prices were raised leaving customers no other option or choice. Prices are very close to the bigger grocers as mentioned. I hope this is something that will be looked at by the company executives, however I highly doubt it. Very disappointing to see that our lower income community, USED to have an affordable source for grocery shopping, but like the rest of the business world, greed always wins...

I am a big-time Food King fan. As a broke college kid, its always my goal to stretch my dollar as far as it will go, and Food Kings prices on food and alcohol allow me to stretch my dollar beyond belief. This store is a major favorite of St. Johns students and Santa Fe locals alike because the prices just cant be beat anywhere else in town.

Lines were a little long but prices and selection of various items were excellent. Large assortment of spices at low cost - they even had lavendar spice can you believe? Well stocked nice and clean.

The only thing I can say is the prices on vegetables are not accurate. The bands that go around vegatables are mixed up. I bought a romaine lettuce and it was marked as celery. The cashier refused to check correct price.

Just passing through this magical city. If you need to pick up a few things.... good selection, great prices. Friendly staff a plus.

Purchased 2 frozen pizzas. After opening both 1 pizza was green. Same day I went to return and replace. I couldnt find paper receipt when they asked for it. Thats when I was accused of stealing the pizza. I went out to car and found receipt thats when the clerk gave me my money back very hostial experience. Never shopping here again!!!!

Every time I visit this place, they keep me wondering how is it so cheap!!?? The freshness of some produce items could below par sometimes but the price are always amazing (even when including 10% checkout fee). Alcohol selection is decent and again super cheap.

Every experience Ive ever had here with and without my family has been horrible. The cashiers are rude and not friendly and no one is helpful. Ive stopped coming here because the service was so bad. Hire some other people cause youre losing good customers to bad service
