I photographed a micro-wedding here in June and it was such a cute place! Very nice ambience and the food was delicious! Only drawback is parking at Liberty Station can be tough on a weekend (I was almost late to the ceremony because it took so long to find a spot), and there was a lot of airplane noise overhead during the ceremony and toasts/speeches (none of which is the fault of the restaurant, just something to consider if youre planning an event). But I loved the greenery, and the large tree in the middle of the outdoor area was the perfect backdrop for a ceremony! The architecture of the buildings nearby also was great for family and wedding party portraits.
This was a borderline 1 star experience. If you are looking for a cool brewery, there are plenty others out there. If you are looking for a decent restaurant, there are plenty others out there. The ordering system, well it is what it is, the menu selection, limited and drab. The service, other than the person who dropped off my drink and the other one who dropped off my food, there is no service. No one checked if we had any questions on the menu, no one checked on us after the food was delivered, and apparently I had to get back online to order anything else. They sure dont have a problem asking for a tip up front when you order, but why are you tipping? You get no service!!!I ordered the brisket sandwich and received a huge slab of fat and some dry (dry) meat. When I waived down the food runner(?) to let them know I didnt like the sandwich, I was asked to hold on for a minute, and then nothing. I pay a little more to eat out at a restaurant for not only the food, but also the service... received bad food and no service here.Good beer selection though...
Amazing beer with an amazing ambianceThis whole liberty station is a place where every local and tourist needs to come and just walk around and experience all that it has to offer and Stone should be first. It’s amazing ambiance here with the darker tones throughout the interior and while being balanced with the lush gardens outsides. The beer here is amazing and have many beers you simply can’t get anywhere else. My favorites include the POG, the Tea, and obviously the buenaveza, these beers are brewed with top notch ingredients are truly brewed to perfection. The bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and will give the best recommendations. For anyone who enjoys and nice cold pint Stone is the place to be, even over another local legend Ballast point.
I love that you can get Stone beers here that you can’t get anywhere else. It makes a special place even better.Recommend their ahi tuna nachos and pretzel to start. My entree was a specialty item this time, but their goat cheese salad is a dream!Their staff is very knowledgeable and helpful - Matt and Laura especially! They also take COVID seriously, masking their staff and limiting interaction with customers when possible with remote ordering. The venue itself is gorgeous and HUGE, which makes it a great spot for events or large groups.Highly recommend!
Yes they have great food. Yes they have reasonable prices. But you go there for the ambiance. We absolutely loved the online ordering with a QR code. You cant blame anyone but yourself for an empty drink or a tardy wait person. The water features are beautiful. And make sure your entire party uses the restroom.
Like many reviewers this one is tough for me. I love Stone. Love the beers. I have been a patron for many years. This QR ordering system sucks. You waste the first 15 minutes trying to order. It doesnt ever join tabs for me. Then 6 people at the table are on 6 tabs and food comes at all different times. I miss having a server explain the menu and offer suggestions. If this is the future, Ill just stay home. I dont think we should tip before the service (or lack there of).
This place is nice. The outside atmosphere is relaxing. Other then the occasional jet flying over head, its a nice eatery. That being said, I was kinda upset at the fact that we didnt have a server. No one did. We scanned a QR code and ordered our drinks which came with no problems. But our food on the other hand took forever. Our appetizer(Brussels sprouts) ticket was ordered but never reached the kitchen. Which also happened with our meal. It was really frustrating. The only silver lining to our Tuesday evening was Cody. Once we flagged him down with our problem he was a gem. Thank you Cody for your dedication to us. Frustration aside the food was delicious, the drinks went down smooth.
Great find if you’re in the San Diego area. It’s located in an area where you can shop and eat different cuisines. We decided to still put our name down even though the wait was originally 1 hour. While browsing through the local shops we got a text after 30 minutes that our table was ready. This place did not disappoint. I ordered the IPA flight along with a cider and the brisket sandwich, brewmasters brisket dip. The sandwich was to die for. The bread was soft yet crisp and the meat was melt in your mouth deliciousness. I ordered it with out the horseradish but next time I might order it all the way to get the full experience. It is a little salty in case you’re watching your salt intake but paired with the IPA it tasted wonderful.Cons: parking was a bit challenging around 2pm had to drive around the parking lot a few times to find a spot. They only have online ordering so you don’t really see a server unless they dropping off drinks or food. Navigating the menu was a bit challenging and kept getting an error message. Please order your water with your order otherwise it will not be delivered. We had to flag someone to bring us water . Seating outside is great because of the view however keep in mind you might not have the best shade. Expect to be interrupted in the middle of a sentence due to the loud planes when landing or taking off. A bigger flight selection would also be appreciated. Will go back for the food and drinks and preferably make an advance reservations next time.
First off, I love Stone, but some changes need to be made.I have been to this location numerous times when in town, but this was the first since Covid.I just wanted to grab a beer and relax at a table or the bar. I was not able to do this. They now only reserve ALL tables for ordering food/drinks.I couldn’t sit at the bar either.I was shown a section out the back of the patio with 3 tables that looked like they just threw up in an open section of the property. So if you want to sit at a table you MUST order food. I’m not a fan of this new structure.Just segment off some tables for food and the others for whatever.I did not stay and left. This was on a Thursday mid day.
Lots of great beers to choose from. Im picky and I was able to build a flight which excites me so much!! Staff is friendly and informative. Didnt have any food this time but will definitely eat there next time. Everything I saw come out looked delicious. Came from Temecula for the day and this was top on our list. Was not disappointed!!
Absolutely loved this place! I made a reservation in advance and Im glad I did because I tried to go back randomly 2 days later and there were no reservations available. It was great that we could place out own orders using the link provided and close our own tab when we were ready, but the servers still checked on us plenty. We had the grilled salmon and a burger and they were delicious. I loved that I could get 5oz pours and create my own flight and they have such a beautiful outdoor space. Dont forget to visit the shop before you leave!
We arrived, and there were a bunch of free tables, but the hostess told us that there would be an hour waiting time. This is ridiculous considering that there were a lot of free tables. Their beer is rrally good, tho. But I wouldnt wait an hour to be seated here, Id rather buy their beer somewhere else.1/5.
Great experience when its not too crowded. You order food via scanning a QR code and making your selections via the web app. Its not super intuitive the first time around but one you understand how to navigate the site and menu, ordering food, service, and paying the bill is a breeze! You can even have an open tab via CC and split the check easily. Food was quick and tasty! Ymmv on the weekends and during peak hours but on a slower day its great visit for sure! On a side note expect loud planes overhead to interupt conversations haha
Every aspect of this location was wonderful! QR Code menu was super user friendly. It was the first day they had the Buena Vida Hard Seltzers and I’m not sure if it was because of the ambiance but they were quite delicious! Food was delicious. I’d be willing to drive 2 hours from home on a whim. That pretzel was to die for! Very pleased with my first visit here and the vibe is so spot on, you don’t even realize you’re next to the airport.
YOU PAY WHEN YOU ORDER, so if you want to tip on credit card, you have to do it before you get your food.Service jobs are in high demand right now, so tip generously, but maybe tip in cash after you leave. So the ambiance is awesome, food is good, but the new ordering system is fine, but a little weird. So they dont tell you you dont get a full service waiter until after youve waited to be seated. ( no problem, just odd)Then you use a QR code to order, not the best for people that left their phone in the car or have a low battery. The biggest problem I see is that instead of an attentive waiter noticing that I need a refill, I have to get my phone out and open a new order to get a refill and pay $0.00. Sometimes its nice to give a big hearty tip to waitstaff that actually, well, wait on you.Dont get me wrong, they turn tables much faster and with limited staff, I understand we were probably only able to get a table BECAUSE of this system, but tip in cash, not when you order.
Great experience! Beer flights on their menu is a must try! They offer a generous quality 5oz of each glass for the beer flights.I like the way they have a barcode scan on table to order food and beer. Maybe they should improve the website a little bit as the UI is a bit odd and not user friendly (but can live with it). They have gas heaters (burners) besides every table which makes outside sitting really cozy and comfortable. Service is quick and food was delicious! They should include more lagers in the menu and probably have another flight of lagers (of light beers). Can also include some more Chicken, vegan and vegetarian food options!
Don’t get me wrong, the beers and food were FIVE stars. I didn’t mind having to download the menu as many places are doing this now, but having to order and pay up front through the website…..well, part of the dining experience is having a waiter/waitress share their expertise on what to order. I understand trying to be safe but I did not see how taking away waiters makes everyone safer. Other restaurants in San Diego had waitstaff….why not Stone? I hope they change their policy soon.
The food here was really good. I got the ribs which fell off the bone, super tender. The sauce on them was delicious and the baked beans and corn bread were good as well. I knocked one star off the 5 star rating I would have given it because we ate outside and planes were going overhead every few minutes. Very hard to carry on a conversation when you have to stop every other sentence and wait for a plane to pass. The other thing that was a little bit of an issue was the ordering. You scan a QR code and order from your phone. Its not a major deal but we were celebrating my moms birthday and she couldnt figure it out. Plus, the service suffers due to the phone ordering. Not a bad meal but I still wont go back.
I’ll start with the positive. The ambiance on the patio is nice. There is the occasional plane flying over which is to be expected. Negatives...we went out thinking how nice it would be to sit, relax and be waited on. Nope! You have to use a QR code ordering system. There is no one to ask questions about the menu, the cell service is sketchy so that’s fun. Lost our order several times before it went through. Food was cold, no ice in the drinks, had to flag down one of the scarce food delivery people. All this and the app wants to charge a automatic 18% tip. I’ll pass next time.
Seems as if alot of people hate the QR code when ordering. It was quick, easy, and simple for my brother and I. Being able to see the food pictured is a sweet bonus. Oscar was on point and made us feel right at home. He suggested the POG which happened to be the best out of the bunch we tried. The merch store was missing alot of sizes but there were alot of sales and we got a great deal on some hats. Cheers Oscar, you the man 😈🍻
This venue has very good outdoor space, as well as indoor, the food is great, even though our buns seemed a bit tough (not as soft as they suppose to be), and the beer selection is wonderful, however, this review is not about the food or beer, its about service. My spouse dropped some utensils on the ground, while carrying 3 beer glasses with other items trying to maneuver with our twin daughters, and a waiter Cole, was right behind him. He stepped on it, even though my husband apologized, but the waiter was so unfriendly, like weve dropped it in the middle of his living room. OK, fine. Then the same waiter Cole, delivered our food, buns with a salad, in a totally rude manner, like we were more of a nuisance rather than business at this establishment. Felt absolutely unwelcome, not to mention we generously tipped since its Covid times etc. Even a table next to us mentioned of how unwelcoming the waiter was. Bottom line, we were thinking of hosting our daughters birthday party there, so other kids would have a great outdoor time, but we decided not to anymore, since we dont want any other parents to feel the same way as we did. People like Cole should not work as waiter, because it felt like he didnt want to be there or people who came to taste beer and have some food invade their private space.
We had our engagement party at Stone and reserved the outdoor Garden Astro Turf space for our party with 25 guests. I cannot say enough about how amazing the food, drinks, and service was for our gathering. From the very beginning, Sydney made it a breeze to coordinate our party and worked out every detail with us leading up to the week of the party. On the day of, Rodrigo and Joel were available throughout the night for our guests, and even re-located us to another beautiful space after our space rental ended so we could continue celebrating. Paul, our day-of coordinator, was awesome and very supportive of any needs we had throughout the evening. Our guests are still telling us days later after the party how much fun they had and how amazing the location was. We are so thankful to Stone and for their hospitality and help in putting our celebration together.
It has gotten better than last time! We had lunch with appetizers and beer in the garden area. We were served quickly, the food was good and the beer was good and cold. The pretzels with cheese were tasty! The brisket sandwich was perfect. The side salad didnt have enough dressing. The appetizer tacos were spicy but decent. The tuna nachos were also spicier than anticipated.
Great beer at the bar, but the male host had a rotten personality and couldnt be arsed to smile OR share the crucial piece of info that no waiter would be coming by to take our order. Just leaning from other reviews now that the QR code on the table was an essential part of the dining experience. And how would know that since we had paper menus in hand? The food coming out didnt look that great anyway, so we decided to leave and grab a bite in the food market next door.
Excellent food to go with already renowned Stone beers. Very cool, spacious outdoor beer garden with plenty of spacing. Was very convenient to order everything and pay for it from Qcode labels on the table. Very fast service. My entire group was very impressed with their food. Only negative is the proximity to the airport and the occasional jet flying overhead but all that meant was a momentary paise in conversation.
Not for the digitally challenged. All ordering is done via ones phone and apparently the app works better on iphone than android. I had to try 3 times before my app would work properly and missed most of the conversation at my table in the 15 minutes or so it took to place the order. Annoying too is the default tip of 20% for no more service than you get at Burger King. That said, the beer was good although I thought the selection a bit limited for a brew pub. The food was OK. What service there was, was spotty some orders arrived quickly, others not so fast.
Now usually I love when a place tries something new and tries to be tech savvy. My entire party is tech savvy too in fact. However, the biggest stunt in our night was the fact that we barely had signal in the area and the wifi barely had strength outside. We had struggled for about 10 minutes before we were able to finally connect and order our food and drinks.Everything that we had ordered was phenomenal. Beers were all on point. I did not have a single disappointing beer. The food was just as good, albeit, a bit pricey. You do pay for the atmosphere and ambience on the other hand.We had a lovely time over here, and would definitely come back. I cannot stress enough though that they should at least offer some other form of service for those that cannot connect. Maybe have an in-house iPad system like what chilis has. Or even the classic waiter system.
Really big place. Wonderful outdoor space. It is a brewery so no mix drinks friends. Great staff good food nice beer list.
Food and drink was good but with over half of the place empty we were approached rudely by 2 employees 2 separate times and scolded for taking chairs from the table next to us… definitely uncalled for with HALF the place empty
Beer tastes best in a great beer garden. Go to Stone for the real thing.
We would love to thank Taylor, our server and another gentleman who we didnt get a pleasure of knowing his name (had long hair) for being very attentive and catering to us with our needs or concerns (which we had none) . They are very observant with their surroundings and customers which bring out the best in any type of restaurant environment. Its not just those two employees but everyone else has been such a pleasure and we are more than grateful to have been able to experience what he had here.
Other than jets flying overhead its great. Outdoor area very nice. Good selection of beers. Menu is somewhat limited but good.
I dont normally submit negative reviews, but Stone Brewing needs to hear this.No menus, you have to order on an app, which is difficult and frustrating. Poor navigation, confusing to place order. One positive about it is that it was easy to keep your tab open.Beer and cider were excellent, but the chips from the fish and chips were all presentation, no substance and no flavor. Also room temperature, which didnt help. The rest of the food around the table looked good, and the appetizers were good.Staff was outstanding. Very helpful and understanding.Beer and cider were excellent. I know I said that already, but it warrants repeating. Stone Brewing. Of course it was great, and thats why they get 3 stars from me instead of 2.Still worthwhile, but Im used to better from them.
Came here during covid. We dined outdoors which was more peace of mind. They sat us near other people but since the tables are spaced out, it wasnt a problem. The ordering is now done through your cell, so for me it was kind of easy but not sure how less tech savvy people feel. Ordered the impossible burger, pretty good!!
Always wonderful! Sitting outside is just beautiful. The staff are polite and always on top of it. I had the most delicious smooth stout. Never disappointed!!
Great atmosphere on the patio. The 2 different IPAs I had were great. Overall service was good... Definitely dine on the patio though.Downside was the airplane noise overhead but, still a good experience.
Great place..nice setting. Good variety of brews.
Thank you for hosting a party of 11 and helping celebrate a surprise birthday. Cody was amazing as a host and made sure to take care of us. Food was delicious. Absolutely will be coming back.
Everyone is super polite and pleasant. An excellent time.
Can not say enough about Stone Brewing and especially Cody. Went there for lunch today, as usual the place is beautiful and the beer is great. Cody took it upon himself to notice that we had a problem with our order. We were not going to complain because we know this has been a difficult year in the industry all around. Cody approached us and fixed the minor problem. I dont think I have ever been to a restaurant that has better hospitality. We will certainly be stopping here more often! Thank you Cody!
We went to Stone Brewing to celebrate a graduation. We thought it would be a nice setting for the celebration. The setting was great however, the service not so much. I wish I would have known Id be the server for the evening. I was so busy trying to do this weird online ordering at the table searching the menu for drinks and food it was incredibly hard to enjoy the night with my family. No where when I made the reservation did it say this was the method for ordering food. I was expecting a full service restaurant, had I known we would have chosen somewhere else to celebrate. Not to mention the servers who did come drop off our drinks/food did just that. Drop the stuff off and run. There was no checking in, how are things, etc. If Im going out to eat Id like to have service and have the dining out experience. This felt like fast food. Then at the end of the dinner you just pay (from your phone) and of course are expected to tip 20-25%...I did half the job myself! It was super disappointing.
There was a slight mistake with the timing of our food, but the servers were extremely apologetic and kind, especially considering they were already working late on Christmas Eve. They made up for the delay and the rest of the night was great. The food itself tasted great and was presented very well. Everything we experienced surpassed expectations, and I strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a beautiful place to eat.Side note, the bathrooms had a fascinating design.
Should you feel the urge to indulge in a great atmosphere of food and environment, then Stone Brewery at Liberty Station is the place.Outdoor dining along with fire ambience and waterfalls complete for a nice compliment to your meal.Whether youre for a meal or drinks and appetizers, Stone Brewery has a wide selection on their menu to order in their contactless order system.Masks required, Covid-19 compliance and all seating outside.
We sat in the outdoor bar area. Beautiful weather, very peaceful setting. Lots of families, doggies, and groups. Covid precautions in place-hand sanitizer everywhere, masks required, and menus must be scanned. The beer flights cannot be beat, and the appetizers are all delicious. Perfect for a wonderfully relaxing afternoon!
This place never disappoints. The food and drinks are amazing. Highly recommend checking out if you havent already.
Great place for a work oriented send off. Service is great, even with using a QR code do order for the table, but the staff is very friendly and welcoming. The food is amazing and high quality for the price. It is mid range price for food and drink, but quality is high level.
Great facilities. The outdoor patio has plenty of seating and optional shading. The menu offers pretty standard brewery food, burgers, sandwiches and so on. Good selection of stone beers from classic favorites to seasonal releases. If you’re a craft beer fan this is a place to visit.
The best part of my experience at this restaurant was when I saw a VERY handsome duck walk by. The rest of it was a disaster, from their “order and pay on your phone and then tip us for doing nothing” expectation to the constant planes flying by overhead to the “urinals” in their restroom that give you a full view of every other man’s genitals (and every other man a view of yours). The staff were all wearing different uniforms which looked incredibly sloppy and disorganized, and the $6 cold brew I ordered came in a can from a fridge - which apparently they expected ME to pour into a glass (because why not, right? I was already doing most of their job anyway). Will never return to this restaurant.
I love stone brewing with every ounce of my being! Super delicious beer, always fun to try new creations. The interior was super awesome, and the beer was out of this world. This location suffers from a lack of intelligible maps around the barracks of liberty station. It also took a pretty long time for our food to be brought out- but that wasnt too big of a deal since there was so much beer to sample. We tried Brussels sprouts, mussels, pretzels, half chicken, and tomato fennel soup. Really delicious all around- the Brussels sprouts were sweet and savory, pretzels hot and fresh, chicken very nicely done. Beer, out of this world. Gah. I wish I lived closer.
We stopped here based on a personal recommendation, and we werent disappointed. The waitstaff are amazing, the atmosphere is fun, and our food was delicious. What more could you ask for? We had the Bangers and Mash with the Black and Blue appetizer. Both were well made and perfectly seasoned. Highly recommend!
A friend introduced me to this place and Liberty Station during the pandemic. What a gem! Im hoping to visit when its fully functional. The ambiance is awesome and flight selections/quantity are excellent. Food was great! And I love the contactless ordering thats done through your smartphone while sitting at the table.
Beer and food was fair. Better to eat at the other small shops, but we were a big group and their location and seating is very nice.
Really lovely garden area with fire pits and little pools, and they have a super convenient barcode scanning system to order drinks that several breweries seem to have implemented now. Wide drink assortment, with not just beers but also ciders, kombucha, seltzers, and even a house rosé? Food is also good - the pretzel is a solid app.
Very good! First off the service is outstanding. Staff was fun and helpful. The beer is great, there are a couple on tap that you can get in stores so thats cool. They give a beer paring with every menu item that are pretty spot on. The menu is new from the last time we came in, in a good way. They also have decent amount of wine and full bar for the non- Brewsters. Overall a great time!
Um yeah so this rating is for the food. I got the fried chicken sandwich and while it looked promising with all the fixings, the skin was a bit overfried with not much flavor and the fries were not crispy. I had a pear cider which was good. 4 stars for the ambience, there is a lot of outdoor seating along with an area for walk-ins who dont have a reservation.
Beautiful! The outdoor patio is gorgeous and such a great space. Lots of heaters for chilly nights as well as tables large enough for bigger groups. We tried lots of their beer offerings with flights and the food was delicious. Servers were very helpful and made sure our special requests for food were received. We spent some time in the gift shop which was far from the front entrance but easily found with the signs. I bought the stone bones and my dog loved them! Wish there was a larger size. We also played some bocce ball and the set up was great. I loved this place, I wish we didnt come as late so that we could spend some more time. Beer, food, atmosphere and service were 👌👌
Very pleasant surroundings including a fun artisan food market and spacious park. Outdoor seating is fun but fills up quickly featuring empty tables with reserved signs for hours. The vegetarian burger was a bit dry but the Peruvian peppers made up for it. I expected a little fresher (crunchy, green, healthy) toppings on the extremely meaty tasting patty and although satisfied thought that $17 were a bit much for a veggie burger. The Liberty beers were fantastic, fun, and spread over a wide range of styles. Wait stuff polite, fast, knowledgeable but not servile. A lot less busy than I expected and not quite the amusement park of Stone that I had dreamed of after reading some reviews. Still highly recommended.
We walked thru the beer garden by mistake and most tables were empty and a server told us we couldn’t sit for drinks, needed to see hostess. Walked around and there was one hostess and an extremely long line to get in. Asked her why so long of a wait when most table were empty. Marissa was rude with an attitude as she said they didn’t want to slam the kitchen. I politely told her we just wanted drinks. She rudely stated that they were not open for drinks. VERY RUDE!!! Also seemed seemed very unorganized. The Brewery itself, that would be the surroundings… were awesome. However, after a couple rude people and attitudes, we didn’t want to spend our money at this establishment and left.
Theyre still doing covid online ordering which is a pain because their menu system is pretty difficult to navigate, and means you rarely see a server. No reason to keep that up, other than an excuse to not hire more staff, as far as I can see. Food is pretty solid and a decent amount of vegan options-- could use more though! Patio is pretty.
Good food, polite staff however pretty much a self service type of operation. Delivery of food was very sporadic for a group of people. Everyone served at a different pace so we didnt end up really eating our meals together. Not sure I would go back because of that.
This review is a tough one for me because Ive always held this location in very high regard. We had a terrible experience this past Sunday after having visited this place many times previously, always a great time. The only high point this time around was the great, as always, beer and a helpful bartender. They earn a five star rating. Then we went to a table outside. It smelled of turpentine. Not kidding, turpentine. Location number two was under the overhang, behind a pillar so no view of the facility. Then we were informed that there were no servers, use the QR code to order. Okay, not the usual experience but we were game. Every single food item we ordered was terrible. Ahi nachos with maybe an ounce of chpped ahi, minimal sauce and extra crispy (hard and stale) wonton strips. The bulgogi pasta was cold, lumpy and gross. Our friends got a Flatbread that was horrible. The Brussels were also cold, but at least tasted okay. The tacos were not flavorful, also cold.Very disappointed. This has always been a go to but pretty sure Im not going back. After 15 years, first as a local and now as a visitor.
We loved the atmosphere the location the beverages and the service. I highly recommend those aspects of this place. The problem was the food which was horrible. The impossible burger was mushy and covered with more mushy things and more grease . Can you just get a good bun and put some fresh lettuce and tomato on it Or something crunchy? Vegetarian curry burrito was like mushy food scraps wrapped in a tortilla . The fish and chips included tasteless potato chips that came on a stick covered with Grease. That might be fun at the Del Mar fair . Having just had smashed fingerling potatoes served with aioli At another restaurant, The ones here seemed like an afterthought that were discovered in the back of the refrigerator . There was no flavor no inspiration and nothing fresh . All five of us left feeling sick. When stone brewery opened in the North County it seem to really focus on good food . I was excited by its menu and even the selection of cookbooks it sold in it’s gift store . I know times have been hard for restaurants and maybe this place has not regained its footing. If that is the case I highly recommend simplifying the menu and making it more fresh. Don’t try and do things that you can’t do well it just drives customers away that really want to patronize you but don’t want to leave feeling sick . Stone Brewery Is such a great venue and has such a great vibe I hope this is A momentary glitch in what has the potential to be great on all fronts. Meanwhile my recommendation is to go to this great place for a beer and avoid the food at all costs.
Liberty Station is a very cool place to visit and Im not sure why I never visited before. Parking was easier than I expected.OK, on to Stone. Hey, its Stone! Always consistently great beer. The bartender we had was fantastic. She was efficient, funny and extremely friendly. In fact, every staff member we encountered was terrific. The only thing preventing me from giving the bistro 5 stars was the food. To me the menu was limited and was just ok. Nothing very special. Not bad, not great, just forgettable. Will definitely come back for a girls night out when we are craving great beer and great service. That particular craving seems to happen quite a bit :)
I was thrilled that Stone is still open during the pandemic. Their patio is huge and our table was more than 6 ft away from the next table. They have an app you can use for ordering and paying so once the staff seats you they only need to come to the table to bring your order. All the beers are available in multiple sizes, so I was able to make my own flight of 5 oz beers. And of course their beers are fantastic. I know theyre known for their IPAs but they have a wide style selection and theyre all good. I had the beer battered fish tacos with my flight, I highly recommend them. They have a pretty good food selection, standard pub grub and some nice entrees and salads. Cant wait to go back!
Lets start with the good things : beers, beers, beers....A choice and variety of beer like its rarely seen in a brewery. The place is big but still very quickly crowded even during weekdays (or evenings). There are also a lot of seats inside but its San Diego, everyone wants to enjoy the outside air.Outside decoration is calming with fires and rivers. It inspires you to sit down, relax and enjoy a well deserved drink. Its also possible to make a reservation for a large group. So why 3 stars only ?The planes. Every X minutes, you have the huge noise of the planes flying above your head. That was annoying...
I messed up ordering online, accidentally changing the location from the scanned bar code at our table. After 20 minutes, I started texting through the app to figure out whats happening. My friend ordered separately and was getting beers very promptly. We figured out what happened with my order, and the server comped the food and beer. The food and beer were excellent.Brisket dip was awesome, the carnitas tacos were incredible.
Wanted to love this place but...the scan to order system is super lame! What do I even tip if the person is just delivering my food to my table...and why not just have a pick up window if you don’t have table service. No one even asking for refills. And the “smashed potatoes” were literally just steak fries? Beautiful outdoor atmosphere but in San Diego you can find that anywhere. Btw not a local so maybe this is a California thing 🤷🏻♀️
I was impressed with the food, the drinks, the professionalism, and the bold display of liberty and freedom by non-mask-wearing staff. Way to do it! Proud of you Stone, and San Diego!! Thank you! Viva la America!
Really awesome, and BIG, outdoor patio-like area with amazing food and beer. This is a great setup for socializing with friends. Didn’t expect a whole lot for brewery food, but the poke nachos and fish tacos drastically exceeded our expectations! They have a wide variety of craft beers, all of which taste great! There wasn’t a single one that was just ‘ok’; they were all top-notch.Their bathrooms decor and cleanness was also impressive.
The order and pay system is a JOKE...THE WORST idea they EVER came up with. Also, the VERY limited and VERY, VERY AVERAGE food. Fish and chips was just odd. Flatbread pizza...BARELY AVERAGE. For a restaurant, they have lots of great beers.
Had a fun family dinner party in the courtyard area. Good food, good drinks. Fun atmosphere. A lot of big umbrellas.
The absolute WORST service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. The covid online ordering is extremely hard to use and only once did our waitress come to our table. It took 45 minutes for our food to arrive and it was COLD. I was here around the same time last year and we had the same experience. I understand they are still understaffed from covid but if they are so understaffed that it takes 45 minutes for food to arrive, they should not be allowing this many people to eat here. Only giving it two stars because the food was good. They really need to get it together.
They use the QR scanner for the menu and ordering. I did not like it. The food was pretty good but not as good as I remember from the past. Beautiful place but operation is marginal.
