Rubin! Is the man to see at Ride Away Bicycle! Got my bike fixed up here from Rubin way cheaper then Bike World was asking for. Super honest! Finding a honest person seem like finding a good auto mechanic. Hard to find!
Awesome bike shop! Been coming here for years and always the same great experience. They are honest people who truly want to make customers happy.
The guys at Ride Away are amazing. I went in planning to, more like offering to,spend some money on new parts. After talking to Brad for a few minutes, we found the parts aren’t even available. I gave Brad more I do and he was able to fix the problem within a few minutes. He offered some advice on accessories I showed interest in and completed the sale like a true pro. Ride Away has great folks at this location.
I wasnt aware of all the bike related shortages due to covid. All I wanted was to get back on my ride after years of being off of it. These guys are just amazing at what they do. Thank you for helping me guys! Keep up the great work!
These are awesome. Steve is always helpful and they seem to always have what I need in stock. They have my business for me and all my friends. Cant go wrong with these guys.
My LBS with an impressive assortment of new bikes and accessories with a great mechanic
Great shops, friendly, service as always, quick install for new tire, good selection of parts.
Im new to the area (from Chicago) so time for new hobby. Im nowhere near knowing what Im doing on a bike but the staff at this location was helpful and made me feel comfortable in asking questions. Ill be back here again for all my cycle needs.Although.....🤔There was one employee who blew me off and i almostwalked out. Imglad i didnt.Cant recall name but started with a B.
Brought in bike for repair of tire tube they kept my front brakes.
Walked into the store to buy a Mountain Bike Helmet. There was one other customer in the store and about 5 employees. After staring and looking at the helmets for about 10 minutes an older gentleman asks if anyone has helped me yet. My response was Not yet. He began to help me when he disappeared into the back to get a ladder. No big deal. At that time a taller younger man came to help me. Which is good, but as soon as another customer came in he disappeared. I stayed looking at helmets for another 10 minutes. Tall guy never returned nor did the 1st gentleman. Now there was about 5 employees total. I know from my time in the store 1 is getting ready for a trip to Florida and another one doesnt ride on trails and so on. I decided if nobody wanted my $, I was willing to spend it elsewhere. Now I went here to support a local business and would rather help locals. Guess I will just order online.
Great customer service from the Huebner Oaks location and Thousand Oaks location!Huebner Oaks- Jason did a perfect fit for me on my Giant Defy and spent a lot of time making sure everything was aligned properly. He also did this despite his injury at the time. It was good to see him at the store again today since the last time I was able to see him was in November. Great guy and great service. George also gave a good recommendation on a pair of bibshorts that he had experience with (Giant bibshort) and since then it has been my absolute favorite out of the 4 I currently own. Jonathan put on one of my power meter just before closing (felt guilty about taking it in so late) and did so happily. Great guys, only wish I could visit them more often.Thousand Oaks- Brad, Jonathan and Steven are the great mechanics at this location! Ive bought both my bikes here (Giant Anthem 3 and Giant Defy Advanced 3) and both of them were recommended to me by Brad. Brad has pretty much guided me through almost every decision Ive made with my both of my bikes (especially my defy) and hasnt led me astray at all. He also tries on many occasions to save me money by showing me better alternative options out there (but I still choose to go a bit overboard on some things like my drive train). There have been a few occasions where he has even come in earlier than he is supposed to and stayed later than he had to in order to help me out. If I ever have a concern about my bike he takes it in and checks it out and so far has fixed every issue Ive had with it. He makes the service here so great that I actually drive 30 min from my house just to take my bike to this specific location, even though the other two locations are closer to me. He also recently installed my new Dura Ace 9100 on my defy and its been PERFECT ever since. Absolutely love this thing! Honestly this is a great location and there are times when I take my bike in for a quick 5-10 min look-over and end up staying an hour to an hour and a half talking to them. Great guys and great service! If you are looking for a good shop with great service I honestly recommend Ride Away Bicycles. Havent had a single negative experience so far and at this rate I dont think I will!
I had felt like the worst Dad as I never taught my daughter how to ride a bike. The staff at Ride Away Bicycles was patient and in good spirits as we worked to size my vertically challenged daughter (She takes after me.) until we found the right bike. After a couple of attempts, she started riding on her own!Thank you Brad!
Im pretty disappointed in their lack of expertise and professionalism. My boyfriend called to see if they had a specific part in stock. They said no but offered something similar so we asked them to set it aside and we would go look at it. Once we got there, the item they put aside was not what they described on the phone. After looking around, my boyfriend found the exact item he asked for the first time on the phone, that the employee said they didnt have. The employees cursed more than thrice with my daughter within earshot. Way to go, talking about eskimo buddies in front of a child. Also, more than half the employees didnt have the a mask on the whole time.
A great local bike shop. Customer service is first and foremost the priority here. Steve and Brad are always willing to help with any issues or items. Craftsmanship is so good I only have to take in my stuff since it stays dialed in. Prices are definitely inline with the market and dont try and take advantage.
I was looking for some bike parts but was brushed off like I was wasting Brads time. Very sad just trying to support my LBS. He criticized what I was looking for even though it was a bike they sold at one time.
Fast, friendly and not expensive.
Went in looking for a bike and was the service was terrible. Walked out and bought a bike somewhere else.
Tommy is my man man he knows me and gives me good servicing on my bike
Every time I have walked into this bike shop I have been greeted as if I was an old friend. Ive always been helped quickly when I needed a service or to make a purchase, and always felt free to look around as long as I have wanted. Ive also seen the same friendly interaction with ever single other customer to enter the store while I have been there. The employees are just great people and the shop has a truly impressive offering despite its smaller size. I have never had a negative experience at this shop and will continue to happily bring my bikes here whenever I need something done outside my comfort level. They also offer easy financing on new bikes AND components! I have to block that out of my mind every time I go in to avoid leaving with way more than I needed, but Ive also never once been pressured to buy anything at all. The guys have even gone out of their way to save me money on more than one occasion. Great shop, great people, great place to go for anything bike related!
I was riding in the area and had a flat at 9am. It was an hour before they opened but they still took me in and got me back on the road in 10 minutes! These guys are awesome! Customer for life!
Great bike shop and great staff.
Best bike shop in town!! Ive bought 2 bikes from this shop and its the only place that I let tune my bikes up! Go see Tom he is a top notch mechanic!!
Very heloful. Fixed my bike quickly and expertly. Great service!
Shop owner lent me his personal bike to test ride. Super helpful and willing to go the extra mile. Fixed disc brake warranty issue quickly - clearly a lot of experience. Will recommend.
Friendly services, cleaned and well stock. Keepon rolling
Great customer service, work completed as promised and fair price. Highly recommended.
I had a bike built with a 2017 fox factory shox that had the remote installed on it. Another bike mechanic had the remote working except for the open mode adjustment which was frozen and nonadjustable. I spoke with several bike shops in town and was told by all of them that they would have to send it back to fox and it would take them at least 3 weeks plus the time it took to ship it back and forth.Well, my last call was to Ride Away Bicycles where I spoke with Steve at the location on 1000 oaks. I could tell from our conversation that he really knew fox shox inside and out. For less than it was going to costs me to ship the front shock back to fox, Steve had it working perfectly. If you have a problem that your mechanic cant seem to fix or youre looking for a mechanic with years of experience and loads of knowledge about bikes, I cant recommend Steve enough.
Owner does not wear a mask and does not appear to care at all about customers. With that attitude, what kind of customer service can I expect?
I’ve been to purchase I hardtail MTB, and left happy with them setting me up tubeless. Letting me take it for a spin in the parking lot to ensure fit.
Ive been a Rideaway customer for several years, but I dont know if I have ever written a review. Brad at Rideaway built my current bike a few years back and it has been awesome. Anytime I have an issue that take care of it promptly. I like going to a shop where they know my name. They never try to upsell me. In fact, I wanted new tires one time and they talked me out of it! told me my tires were fine. Not too many shops do stuff like that.A couple of weeks ago, I upgraded my wheels and got a full overhaul of the rest of the bike before a trip to Telluride, CO and Phils World. The bike ran great the whole week!I cant say enough about Brad and the rest of the staff at Rideaway. Great guys who love bikes and really care about their customers.
Thank you so much for your wonderful customer service today and helping me with my kids bikes and filling them with air.. We will definitely be back. Great place!
Ride away bicycles shop is one of my two favorite local bike shops, AKA LBS. The other is REI coop. The bike techs at Ride Away are very good at fixing broke bikes, adding upgrades and advising on purchasing a new one. I have been going there over 5 years. Good people, good service and fair prices.
Thats weird I left a poor review on here less than a month ago and now its gone. Let me right another one. I walked in wanting to buy a bike and after the female or male sales person I really couldnt tell PAT found out I wasnt going to spend 3 grand on a bike I was completely blown off and wasnt helped after. I left with a pocket full of cash and no bike. Ill never go back. Hopefully this review can stay posted so customers can read true and recent reviews. Sucks!!!
I felt motivated to get back on bike after not riding for several years. After calling this bike shop I took my bike in for much needed repairs. Steve had taken my call earlier and he greeted me as I entered the store. Steve went right to work on my bike. Around 10 to 12 minuets later I was able ride my bike the 3.5 miles to my home. Yes, I left my vehicle and rode my bike home. This was a great experience for me today at Ride Away Bicycles. The best thing about the whole experience was the cost for the repairs. I will return to do more business with those folks. I strongly encourage anyone that need bike repairs, a new bike or information on bikes go to Ride Away Bicycles on Thousands Oaks in SAT. It sure feels good to be on the road again...
Been here multiple times, and they never fail to impress with their customer service. Dont matter what you are looking for the service is great!!!
Nice chill spot to get your bike repair done
Getting my bike delivered to this shop and already I’m loving this place. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Any thing I need, I most certainly will be taking my business here!
A very good shop. With knowledgeable workers.
I feel like these guys did not want my money, maybe they’re overwhelmed with work during this COVID19 crisis, I don’t know. But the only person who was ever friendly here or super helpful was Steven (Steve?). I worked in retail a long time and in mechanic shops and I know when there’s an opportunity to help someone and make a sale, you go for it. I’ve been in there twice this past month and both times I felt like they tried to push me away. I like supporting local business, especially bike shops and even more during these times, but some make it hard.
Great customer service and very knowledgeable
Great place. The people here really care about getting you in the right bike. Not just selling one.
Great customer service and decent prices.
Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. When performing repairs, in my experience with them, they have been honest and didnt perform unnecessary repairs. If something doesnt make sense or there is a better option, they will let you know either while youre there or they will call you.Very awesome place. I highly recommend it.
Rated five stars because I cant give them six. Super friendly and helpful. Took my new Townie in for repair while on a trip. They repaired it while I waited (about 15 min) and didnt charge me anything. This is the kind of place I want to always do business with.
Words cannot describe the class act guys that work there. I am on a x-country bike ride and I brought my bike in for a check up and to fix a small issue I was having. They fixed the issue, cleaned my bike (it was covered in mud and dirt from 2200 miles), and the greased and lubed all the parts all in a timely manner. The part that makes these guys and shop great is that they asked me if they could do it for free. They wanted to help a fellow cyclist out. What a kind gesture. I highly recommend Ride Away Bikes to anyone and everyone in the San Antonio area. Such great people there and a great shop.
Everything went quite well, better than expected. The parts were in stock, l have a 1987 BIKE. The repairs took less than two hours. And l was provided information regarding a newer bike. Thanks a lot!!!
One of the best local shops! I bought my 1st real bike almost 11 years ago from these folks!
Brad and staff members were very welcoming. They acknowledged me as soon as I walked through the door something I cannot say about the IH10 location unfortunately. Thousand Oaks performed a somewhat light service on my bike, everything that was not functioning before is now! Im very happy with my experience from start to finish. Highly recommended. Thank you:)
Purchased my first bike from them. Very knowledgeable and nice. Best customer service Ive seen in a bike shop. Went back to get some service and repairs done. They where very fast, friendly and reasonably priced. Not usually one to write reviews but this place is legit.
I initially went to a different bike shop when I was looking to get into cycling. When I told them my budget, the rep wouldnt give me the time of day. The next place laughed at me.But then I stopped in at Ride Away on Thousand Oaks. they didnt have any bikes that were in my price range, but they did offer suggestions of other places I could go to possibly find one, and they still took the time to answer all of my rookie cycling questions.I have since been back many times for minor tune-up saint either my bike or one of my kids bikes, and I bought a helmet, and snacks for my longer distance rides. they have always taken good care of me, the prices are reasonable, and they havent tried to sell me on extra stuff that I dont need. If I tell them I wanted something, and I didnt really need it, they would be honest with me and tell me that they would sell it but that I was wasting my money. That integrity is a big part of why I recommend them to anyone in the area.
Excellent service and huge selection of bikes and gadgets
The staff were very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They helped me fix up an old bike and did it very quickly! I couldnt help but take it to a park for some testing. You cant go wrong coming here!
Great service.
Knowledgeable staff, reasonable prices.
They are always willing to help and answer questions and Justin is the man!!!
Super nice, helpful people with a good selection of bikes in all ranges.
All four men working there were very polite professional and helpful. I definitely would recommend this business.
Bought a bike here yesterday after shopping around town for several weeks. Mateo helped me and gave me great recommendations, advice and options for the best value bike for me (even though I was considering a more expensive bike, he encouraged me to buy the best value bike for me). I’ve heard good things about this shop and was not disappointed, I plan to be back.
While nice bike shop and great selection of bikes and very knowledgeable staff.
Great service, great prices and awesome staff
They didnt have my size
Very poor customer service. Attitude was horrible to even just answer questions. Will take my business elsewhere.
Steve & the guys saved my precious 2 times from the brink. Great service, great atmosphere, and a great music playlist. If your having problems with your bike, these are the guys. Best in San Antonio!!!
Good group of guys, being a biking noob they have been very helpful educating me and getting my family set up for fun! Highly recommend them, I have found a home for my future purchases.
Second time to go to this bicycle shop. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Sell Giant, Santa Cruz, and Electra as their main brands. Nice clean shop and a lot to choose from. I will be going back for their demo coming up for their Santa Cruz bicycles.
Since they moved to the Thousand Oaks Center, we have been visiting and getting 4 bikes serviced for the past two months. The service is very fast and quite reasonable...makes one inclined to tip. Great place.....
Ive been doing business with Ride Away Bicycles for over 10 years. Ive purchased a number of bicycles from them and have always been very well taken care of before and after the sale. Great people, quality service and fair prices. Support you local bike shop!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff, excellent service, and easy to understand, reasonable pricing. What more can you ask for?As a new biker, its a great start to what I hope is a fun hobby.
Great bicycle shop. Theyre honest and quick.
I always get great service!
Guys are super friendly and welcoming. Also very honest and knowledgeable about the bike industry. Great place to buy and get your bike worked on
Outstanding with customer service and fast turnaround. Didnt experience any high pressure up sales. These folks care about the customer and their ride. Noticed my back tire had a slow air leak and they had me bring it right back in and fixed it in the spot. Shows they really care about customer safety. I will bring my Giant back and recommend this place to everyone!
Went for a new cable for gears at 4pm on Sunday good service and price Jason was awesome!!!!
Friendly, knowledgeable staff and the perfect selection of small and medium ladies bikes that I was looking for!
Great LBS. The folks here will not try to sell you stuff you dont need. You can trust that if they tell you you need the part or repair you really need it. Even when Ive asked them to do a tune-up theyll check out my bike and tell me I didnt need one. Theyll adjust my components and not charge me a dime. I will only buy my bikes from these guys and will only let them touch my bike and my wifes bike.
Took my bike in to get some upgrades on it, which is pretty cool considering most bike shops around the area did not want to touch it. Other bike shops would tell me, its not worth it, just buy a new one for like 4000 dollars. Uh,no. Spoke to three different associates, each one were very customer friendly and knowledgeable. They hooked me up on the upgrades and all I can say is, WOW! Its like a new bike. Just wanna throw a shout out, great job to the the guys at ride away bikes on jones and thousand oaks.
I have an 18 year old Specialized full suspension mountain bike. I took it over to Ride Away on Thousand Oaks for a tune up, and they called me the very next day to let me know it was ready. They had removed the shifters to clean them out, and replaced them. It performs almost like brand new now. Im really happy with the work. Reasonably priced, no up-selling for stuff I didnt really need, either. Thanks, guys!
Tried to buy a bike lock and the owner told me he wouldn’t sell me one bc my bike would be stolen anyway. Not sure if it’s bc if the way I look. It I’ll shop elsewhere.
Great quality bike shop with a very personable staff that is always willing to help. They will take the time to answer technical questions or chat and prices on mechanical work are very reasonable.
Grade A customer service and repair. was a pleasure working with Steve and Brad
The folks at the shop were super helpful and pleasant! Well stocked shop with all the new good stuff u could ever want!
I have been bringing my bike here since I started riding and you will not beat the service anywhere!!Always friendly and very knowledgeable
Went in looking for a new tire tube for my sons bike. Gentlmen who helped me answered all my questions and checked us out quickly. Great service 10/10 will shop here again.
Guys are always super friendly and helpful. Support your local bike shop!
Such helpful and nice ppl, and service. Great place and selection!
Very informative, and friendly staff that will give you all the attention needed to make the best decision for purchasing your next bike, components, or accessories for your next biking adventure.
I was SAVED by these guys. Someone smacked my cassette with their front tire and put a crack in my freehub. I was assuming maybe I find a freehub body then disassemble my old one take out bearings and pawls, replace bearings. These guys had a full unit saving me hours of work charged me extremely reasonable prices for the parts and Im back on the pavement!
Best customer service ever would never go anywhere else the personalities are hilarious. Also ask the guy with orange hair and glasses about his gorgeous van.
Did a good job on fixing my bike
Went in on a whim for two items and they had them at a reasonable price. I know where I will be going to for my next cycling purchase.
Friendly and good prices!
Did a complete teardown and cleaning on my Trek 4300 and it rides like new! The price was great, much less expensive then Bike World or some other places in town.
Poor customer service. Jake answered the phone at 7pm. I explained I was in the parking lot and needed a flat fixed asked if he could help. His response was nope sorry cant do it!! Ringing up last customer. Horrible customer service. I will be taking my bike elsewhere from now on.
The guys are very friendly and helpful. Steve was informative without being condescending.
Have purchased three bikes from them over the years along with accessories. Great prices and services and knowledgeable staff.
Nice bikes
Service is great, great store to take your bike for repair. They also have items to go with your bike.
Good selection of bikes and decent price. Very helpful staff.
Good fair place for service
