Fantastic early experience! Referred to this local business by a friend and couldnt be more impressed. Not only did they find a trike that is very challenging to find, will have it there and assembled in a matter of weeks. Very easy to work with, and very refreshing that they came from a place of yes finding the trike for which I was looking.

This shop is the only one that I trust. They know what theyre doing when it comes to fixing bikes. I have a 1957 Schwinn that Ive owned for 25 years, its my daily rider and Im pretty tough on it. For the last 20 years, Ive been taking it to College Cyclery when I need it fixed and they always come through with quick service and good solid work. Just recently the bottom bracket went out (not bad after lasting for 25 years) and I took it in to College Cyclery when they were only supposed to be doing tune-ups because of limited quarantine hours, and they fixed it anyway in addition to giving it an awesome tune-up. It runs like a brand new beach cruiser now and I love it! This shop has always taken good care of me and charges fair prices for their work. Please support them.

Great bike shop, great service, reasonable prices. Always super straight up with me. (If they ever seem surly, I assure you, theyre not being rude. Just straight with you--no reason to waste your time beating around the bush.) I ride a lot and do all the basic work on my bike, so when I come in its usually something ugly, and they always manage to straighten it out and never overcharge. I lost a gasket and couldnt get the headset back together. He identified the name of the obscure piece of hardware, and looked around the shop for 30 minutes so I didnt have to buy one. (I called around--no one had it, so it really bailed me out.) Once I rode a bike until the bottom bracket literally cracked and fell apart. They worked for 40 minutes with all the tools in the shop, including a chisel, trying to free the hardware and never could. Didnt charge me a dime despite the labor. Seriously, these guys are great.

Bought a new to me Cannondale X7. The bike needed some work beyond my skill level, and took it into College Cyclery. The bike I am on the extreme short end for my bike size, but it fits my budget and I want to make it work. Everyone let me me know about it in the shop. Which is great honestly. Because they should be telling me that. I am going to work a lot on it though, and I think I will get it to where I want it. The mechanic gave me some great pointers. And projects to check out for the future.First they are running a bike shop. Old school great shop. They didn’t try to up sell my bike and worked with the part I already own. When I took the bike in I told them I want to spend x amount to x amount on fixing it. Do what you can. They did a very fair amount of work, and it increased my 20 mile ride by a full 2 mph average. If you want an honest trusted shop the mechanic at that shop is trustworthy and taught me a lot about my bike. I appreciated working with them.I highly suggest getting work done with them. Especially if you are a DIY rider until it gets out of your comfort range.

I went to 3 bike shops and called a few others finally stopping by College Cyclery. I took my bike in that needed a front rim. The guy said they had to order it. He wrote up the order and then realized it was the wrong rim. He corrected it and said now he has the correct rim ordered and I paid for it. Long story short they never order my rim. I called every two days asking did it come in and after a week and a half they finally told me it was never ordered. However, if I wanted to wait another week it would be here or I could come get my money back. NOT good business! So much for shopping local. Definitely would not recommend and I will not be back. How they survived this long I cant imagine.

I have a 25 year old Peugeot bike that needed a new head set. I took it to my local bike shop where I have gone for years for repairs with other bikes I own. The shop had the bike for a month trying to locate the correct size due to being an older bike and French. After a month in the shop with no success, I took the Peugeot to College Cyclery, In ten minutes, I had a new head set on the bike! I was informed the head set size is a standard 1. And by the way, the price was 40% of want my local bike shop was going to charge me. I own 6 bikes. The oldest is 42 years young and my newest bike is 10 years young. I know where I will be taking my bike for repairs from this point forward, College Cyclery!

I went to get my pedicab tuned up and hydraulic brakes bled. I worked for AT&T for 8 years so customer service is everything to me. The customer service is so good that I ended up spending four times what I was going to spend there. I dont recommend places to anyone unless they deserve it. C.C has earned and deserves a FIVE STAR recommendation from me. Thanks guys!!!

My favorite bike shop in Sac. Not geared toward serious mountain or road cyclists, but a great local shop for the everyday rider or commuter. The shop has a very neat vintage collection and is knowledgable about older bikes and parts. Also a very large selection of used parts, so just ask.

The staff must think they are pretty cool. They certainly act like they are better then everyone. Ive been there once or twice to have a flat fixed and it wasnt so bad. However, when I was in the market for a bike, I stopped in here to check out their bikes and the sale representative was a total pompous jerk. My wife and I agreed we would never buy anything there.

Here is my experience from someone who doesnt generally have money, your experience may be different because they definitely treat customers differently if you have more then 50$. I had 62$ spent for the total bill due to the small, stringy haired sales rep/mechanic, overcharged me and was very rude as well. He charged an extra 10$ for just taking off the wheel when he was working on the derailed hanger. Completely unnecessary. I have never been in a bike shop where they dont give proper customer service. Would never recommend anyone of any sorts to get purchase here. Overpriced everthing with arrogant sales reps who think theyre better then everybody else

I bought a MTN bike here, Giant Fathom. Mike spent about 45 min explaining the bike and comparing it to other bikes. I had no intentions on buying it that day as I was still learning what bike I wanted. He answered all of my dumb noob questions. Then I got a case of I gotta have it now and bought it. Normally I over pay when I do this. i got home and started looking the bike up. I got the best price I could find at college cyclery. A few days later the drop seat stoped working they fixed it no problem and tought me about the seat. The mechanic went over my bike and explained how I was riding could effect the bike mechanically. No education is free, but I feel like I got a free bike for paying for this education. Thanks for all the knowledge and patience.

I get it. The mechanics can be a little rough around the sales. They dont push sales, they fix bikes. Every bike Ive had, going back 10 years, theyve always saved me some money with expert advice. Such as, Dont need to replace the de-railer, you need new cables, and maybe a chain. Ive learned a lot just listening to Mike T and Masuda. Are they the friendliest mechanics you ever knew? Maybe not, but are they straight up and down to the bone real? Yes. I go no where else.
