This was a great find... A hot summer day after running 🏃‍♂️ errands with a car full of folks.The real bonus is the non-dairy ice cream options, (by allergy not choice), which made this a great find.The parking is snug but not bad. The outside is dog friendly and they are set just above bike and walking 🚶‍♀️trails near the river.They have pints to take home and they make their own waffle cones (not vegan).Extra bonus points for a spotless bathroom. Will definitely be back!

This is the cutest ice cream spot in Roanoke. We got the red rooster coffee ice cream with chocolate chip and it was great, not very sweet perfect on point. Everyone is so friendly, definitely recommend this one.

I got mint chip which was basic but the creaminess of the ice cream made it truly exquisite. It was smooth and the chocolate chip shavings heightened the taste experience. It was THE perfect balance of chocolate to ice cream flavoring and unlike some other ice cream brands it wasn’t overly minty. I also tasted the banana pudding and it was amazing. To be honest, it was so hard to choose which flavor to get. I did end up also tasted the Double Fold Vanilla that was super creamy but a bit light on the vanilla taste profile. I admit that I’m more of a vanilla bean kinda gal but I did enjoy this nonetheless.Support local. Eat ice cream. And enjoy. I’d highly recommend this place and would definitely go again.

Probably the best ice cream I’ve had, and I’ve had many. I ordered a double scoop with the waffle. Two flavors; chocolate brownie and salted ganache. Both were incredible. I wish they had a branch in the city where I live!

A great mix of classic and daring flavors on the menu. I couldnt decide so I ordered a flight of four flavors. Every one was what I would consider good ice cream, thick and creamy, even if one or two of the flavors didnt work for me personally. I definitely finished all 4 scoops and enjoyed every bite, but it was the contemporary flavors that shone brightest for me. Highly recommend basil flavored ice cream, which I would never have ordered if I wasnt able to get several to try.Staff was courteous and the location was clean as well.

Had a great family outing today and decided to try a local place for some ice cream. It smells amazing like waffles inside and the experience was wonderful. The employees really seemed to be having a good time. It makes me happy to see that since most jobs are garbage. Super clean inside and outside. We got to admire the river view and enjoy the shade in the outdoor sitting area. The ice cream is absolutely delicious. I got a double scoop of the vanilla and my husband got the triple berry crisp. Great prices for fantastic ice cream. Definitely a new favorite place for us!

Best ice cream ever. Salty Carmel yummy. Fresh made per sign. One thing I will tell you. We arrived around 6:30pm on a Monday. There was a line of 6 people ahead of us. Fast service, had 5 to 6 working. We git our order sat down and then....... the line started lining almost out the door. It stayed like that the whole time we were eating our ice-cream. OH this did not included about 10 to 15 people getting pints of already made ice cream plus customer were buying just the fresh made cones on site. Oh my goodness we will be back. If theres a line we will happily wait our turn.

High quality ice cream in an interesting setting with good vibes. Friendly and efficient staff. I always get vanilla and you can tell alot about a place by their vanilla. If its good theyre all good. My wife got sea salt brickle on a wonderful waffle cone. She loved it. Highly recommend!!!

Delicious! I got the banana pudding waffle cone. Coming through that door smells AMAZING. There are always smiling, friendly faces behind the counter. The service is fast and friendly. The location is perfect. The place is ALWAYS clean and the outdoor seating is comfortable and clean as well. The ice cream itself is such a treat! It reminds me of going to Highs back in the 80s. The prices are reasonable and its SO fresh and delicious. Definitely a place we go to several times per year. Its the ONLY place we go for a tasty cone. Unique flavors and just plain nice folks!!Check them out! You really cant go wrong.

Popular ice cream shop. Despite the busy time of day, service was prompt and the line moved quickly. The ice cream was delicious with generous servings. Outdoor seating is available,and the shop is located immediately adjacent to the Roanoke River Greenway. Getting a snack and enjoying it on a stroll by the river is the real treat here.

We always search for new ice cream spots as we travel. As soon as you get out of your car you smell the waffle cones. I wasnt planning on getting my ice cream in one but walked out with one just because it smelled so good.Their ice cream is so good! Full of flavor and it is very creamy! The waffle cone? As good as it smelled.We will definitely be back!

Blue Cow Ice Cream is one of the two best quality ice creams that I know of in this area, the other being Homestead Creamery. That said, Blue Cow is superior as they produce unique flavors in small batches. On todays (01-14-21) visit, I took a chance with the Sea Salt Brickle, and my date had the Goat Cheese w/Blueberry Swirl. We were stuffed when we arrived after having had lunch at Beamers 25 and we came here for dessert... so we both went with fairly small servings, but after mine had disappeared I wished Id went with a bucket size - I felt like ordering seconds. I sampled the Goat Cheese w/Blueberry Swirl and realized I couldnt have gone wrong... also delectable. Ill never go anywhere else for ice cream in Roanoke as long as Blue Cow exists.

First time I had their ice cream and I thought it is the best! My wife and myself met some friends there. Outdoor seating available! Right beside the Roanoke River for a fantastic view with a walking/biking trail that goes by this facility. Located just at the bottom of Mill Mountain if you want to take in some sights. I will definitely return! Very positive first experience!

Such a great experience!! Visited Roanoke for the first time & came here after bar hopping. The workers were very nice & patient with us when we changed our minds a few times. It smells wonderful inside & the river is right next to it so you can eat with a view! To top it off the customers in front of us secretly paid for ours! The sea salt brickle was by far the best one, we have raved to everyone we can about it & will probably make a trip back to Roanoke just to buy more of it!

I just photographed a wedding at Glass Hill Venue where I was able to meet this team at Blue Cow Ice Cream. As a wedding photographer I have seen and tasted a lot of desserts and cake at weddings over the years.However, ice cream is my absolute FAVORITE dessert and when I found out there was going to be an ice cream truck at this reception I was beyond excited! This fun and unique dessert was definitely a crowd favorite at this wedding and I cannot wait to work with this team again!!

This place is a gem! The banana pudding flavor is the best! I hope they never discontinue it. My boyfriend got the goat cheese and blueberry one and he loved it; he said the flavors went so well together. The workers are so nice and I’m definitely going to be coming here often now that it’s getting warmer again.

I heard a lot of hype about this place and after trying it for myself all I can say is one word: overrated. The prices are very high. They have a large variety of unique flavors but the actually consistency of the ice cream is the same as you can buy from the grocery store. I was pretty disappointed honestly. My wife didnt even eat half of her small cup. Definitely dont get all the hype.

My little niece (first grader) insisted on going to the Blue Cow for ice cream. She got chocolate and I ordered my favorite, goat cheese with blueberry swirls. Once seated she asked about my flavor and wanted to taste it. She absolutely loved my goat cheese and blueberries!We took the scenic route home and had an enjoyable time. When I got her home her mother (with motherly excitement) asked her what ice cream she had. The child screamed excitedly and said, I had chocolate, and COW POOP WITH BOOBERRIES. Needless to say, I laughed so hard I could hardly focus on starting the car to leave.

Great ice cream place, but infrastructure is woefully slow. There is simply not fast enough processing of customers. I waited about 45 minutes and the lines regularly leave the building.

I love going to the Blue Cow ice cream company it is always awesome! Everyone that works there has always been very friendly and very pleasant. They answer all of my questions without hesitation. They dont mind you asking whats an each flavor and theyre very helpful and allowing you to make the best decision for your taste buds! Yummy yummy in my tummy! I love going by there at the end of my long work day at the hospital. its a nice refreshing treat. It makes my day brighter and puts a smile on my face. If you havent gone there you should try it you wont regret it.

They have gluten-free waffle cones, so its a great place to take my wife for a treat since shes gluten intolerant.

The shop smelled fantastic since they were making the waffle cones fresh while we ordered and they tasted great. It was a good thing we took ours to go otherwise I would have gone back for more!

My families favorite place for ice cream. I love coffee ice cream, but the Red Roaster w/chocolate chips is out of this world great! Something for everyone. The place was packed, but the ladies at the counter stayed as cool as the ice cream and kept smiling and serving up great treats! Go here and cool off with some awesome ice cream and great service!
