I bought my car a couple of years ago from Car America. It served it’s purpose but it wasn’t me. Scott has always kept in touch with me and called me a couple of months ago to ask how things were going with my Ford fusion. I told him that the car was fine but I was not happy with it. It was an impulse buy. He asked what would make me happy and I said please find me another Mustang. A few months went by and I received a text from him that said “elephants never forget”. He sent me a link to a beautiful 2017 Ford mustang GT. He said do you like this? I said I love it. Long story short, everything was done in a very timely fashion and I picked up my new ride today. Transmission failed within 60 days of purchase and less then 4K miles after driving off the lot. I’m now left with a $4K repair or new car purchase. I wouldn’t buy a go-cart from this dealer let alone a car. You want to knowingly sell damaged vehicles to someone with 5+ years of experience in auto sales then I’ll gladly put you on blast.If you’re reading this know that GAP insurance is never more than $700 at any dealership with a shred of ethics when handling a customer that has a subprime interest rate from a lender. Anything above that is highway robbery considering the cost for the dealer is $400 at most. In addition, GAP coverage is NEVER required by any lender (they will tell you otherwise, read your contract this isn’t debatable it’s OPTIONAL). NOTE: you can cancel within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. If you do buy the GAP here with your damaged vehicle make sure to negotiate the cost of the GAP itself. Trust me there’s wiggle room.Now let’s move onto the service contract. The price on this thing is ridiculous considering you’re only covered for 2 years/24K miles. For them to charge $2k for this is hilarious given the length of coverage and what services are provided. Couple this with your subprime interest rate and you’re paying an insane amount for very little coverage on a limited number of things. NOTE: this too is negotiable, can be refunded in full within 30 days and is NEVER required by any lender regardless of credit history.In summary this dealer is making around $3,000 - $5,000 on the sale of the vehicle itself. They are then adding about $3,000 worth of “coverage” that gives them $1,500-$2,000 more in profit. Then they hold back 2%+ on the interest rate for another $500+ in profit. Honestly I wouldn’t care about them making that money if they were properly inspecting/servicing their vehicles prior to sale.Next time you try to screw over someone use some common sense and choose an easier target. There’s a reason I didn’t accept your job offer following the sale. Why would I when I can treat customers with respect and actually help them by selling quality products all while earning $20K+ per month with a real dealer. You are all beneath me in both salesmanship and morals. You’re lucky I make enough money to escape this situation or I’d be in your showroom tomorrow morning when you open to confront you to your face. You’re only an hour south maybe I’ll pay you a visit sometime

Like so many other people My credit isn’t anywhere near perfect and I didn’t have thousands to put down as a down payment. If I could’ve given more stars I absolutely would! When I first came into Basic Auto I was working with Scott who was incredibly helpful. By me just getting discharged with a chapter 7 he told me exactly what I needed to do to get approved for my family vehicle and while I was doing what I needed to do on my end he was checking in periodically which made me feel like I wasnt just a “sale” but someone who was in dire need of a car for her family. After car and gap insurance, I still owed a balance to the finance company which made my down payments a bit higher and was rough trying to save for a down paying while paying for an expensive rental car out of pocket.
