The staff at this store were phenomenal! I wasnt sure the chair I liked would fit, so they offered to order it since it was in stock and bring to the store. Thankfully, the chair is perfect!! Mae was especially helpful! Ask for her when you go in.

Found a great chair that had been discontinued. Derek was extremely helpful, wrapped up the chair to protect it and helped load it. He even offered to keep an eye out for future items that may meet my needs as well. Great service. Hate the entrance driveway though and you cant enter through the facing Broad Street doors.

I had a great experience visiting the West Broad St store in Richmond, VA, which I found out about on a TV commercial. Mae at the store made my first visit a great experience. As promised, she followed up later via phone once the pieces I was interested in became available. I went back to the store and Mae guided me through my final selection and purchase. While Im patiently waiting for the delivery, I trust that I can turn to Mae or anyone in the store for any questions I may have. So, Id recommend this store to anyone looking for great furniture and service.

I first experienced their stellar customer service in August 2020 when my daughter bought her furniture. Derek, our Salesman, did such an amazing job and Cheryl who completed the paperwork was so nice and informative!! Then in April 2021, my 90 year old parents wanted new furniture which was a huge deal since it’s been 30 years since they have bought something new. I took them to 4 other furniture stores to have a full experience and then had them go here. They were treated with such kindness and respect by both Derek and Cheryl!! It’s like visiting a family, a positive and wonderful experience you will want to repeat!

West Broad St, Richmond, VAI found this store on Google. I was looking up a particular brand in furniture when it came up that they sold it and another brand I was interested in . Sent an email on Sunday and was in touch with the store on Monday. I asked to speak with a salesperson and they put Derek on the phone with me. He was very thoughtful and answered all my questions to the very best of his abilities. He did some research for me on 3 different brands and gave me all the details I wanted. I schedule an appt with him and when I arrived at the store I was greeted very professionally and directed to him. He showed me the 3 different brands, we made a selection and paid for it. Done in less than 45 mins. I would recommend them to others and I will be a returning customer. Went in looking to purchase new living room furniture. Found a great set and went to look into financing as they were offering 0 down and interest free. About 20 minutes later some guy walks up to me and goes hi I’m the credit guy and proceeds to tell me in front of everyone on the show room floor that he does not trust me and will not sell me furniture since I am new to the area. I have never been so embarrassed and degraded before in my life. He demanded that I put down 900 dollars for the Order because I am new to the area and he did not trust me because I was new. Do not do business here unless you are a long time resident!!

I am embarrassed to say that in the 7 years I’ve lived in the area, I have never heard of Schewel’s. I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to buy my dad a recliner and she said try Schewel Furniture and wow, am I glad I did. Mae was friendly, there was a good selection, good prices and free delivery! I wish I hadn’t just purchased my couch a year ago at another place or I’d be going back!

First time in the store and I was impressed with the styles of furniture. I was looking to purchase a set of end tables and I found some that I was interested in buying. Sales associate Mae did a great job working out the details for me. Wrapped them up and made it home and they look great.

Our INTERACTIONS with staff was wonderful . sweet very caring sales people . we where easy customers, I saw the sofa . it was perfect . Cash purchase .Now here we are a week from our already lengthy wait time and called to check on if we are receiving our sofa this week as promised and find out its gonna be sometime in august now .When where we gonna get a call ? almost six months for a small tufted sofa is a bit much to ask .We will canceling our order unfortunately and ordering the same sofa from wayfair for much cheaper and only 2 week delivery time .

I came in on Thursday after going to 3 other stores. I was greeted by Derrick. He did an excellent job listening to my wants and needs. He showed me other options to consider but never pressured me and let me decide on what I wanted. Very respectful and attentive as well. As a Manager in sales myself he did all the right things in the road to the sale. The manager I spoke with and lady that took my payment were very nice and easy to deal with also. If I’m ever in the market again I will definitely go to Derrick first.

I looked around, was told to take my time. The associate that helped me was very kind, considerate and patient. He discussed the different pieces of furniture that I was looking at with me and if it wasnt in stock when it would be. My experience with Schewels Home was a very good one. I left very pleased with my purchase.

My husband and I have been looking for new bedroom furniture for our son for months. Every place we’ve visited had furniture out of stock, on back order, or delayed due to Covid-19. I’m so glad we visited Schewels on West Broad Street in Richmond, VA. Mae and the store manager were very helpful and patient with us. The furniture was delivered a week after we placed the order. The delivery drivers were on time, professional, and wore masks at all times. My son loves his new bedroom set. We will definitely shop at Schewels in the future, and recommend them to family and friends.

We had a lot of trouble with a motorized love seat we bought almost 5 years ago. We had a warranty on it that we purchased. The warranty company was not good at all but Melissa at Schewels helped us as much as she could and finally made it right with us! They no longer use the warranty company that we had purchased from because they didn’t treat their customers right! I made my first purchase from Schewels when I was a young girl buying her first hope chest as they called them back then. And I thought I was going to have to call it quits with them but they made it right. Thanks Melissa and Schewels for all your help through our long ordeal!

My husband and I threw out old living room furniture away after putting in new flooring. We purchased furniture from another store and after waiting 6 weeks for it to come in were told it wouldnt be in until the end of January. We went to Schewels Saturday and we told Derrick our story. We asked if they ever sold floor models. He talked to his manager and they did just that. We had living room furniture in our home that same evening! Schewel Furniture has budget friendly furniture at a competitve price point plus they offer in house financing. The sales staff are very helpful and not pushy in the least. Both the sales and financing customer service experience was great. A very positive shopping experience.

***UPDATED*** This is an update to my original review. Come to find out it was not the store manager that was rude. The store manager immediately called me and apologized for our experience. He made things right and really worked with me and my wife. Lets say because of him, were got the furniture that we wanted, reasonably priced and with a reasonable payment. We will be getting more furniture in the future as long as the store manager continues to work at that location!!!The manager was extremely condescending and rude. They did a full fledged bait and switch and treated us like we were trash. Mr. Cesar was amazing, but their manager was a demon.

I purchased a living room set paid in full on Tuesday for pickup Saturday. I go to pickup my furniture and for 30+ minutes they are trying to locate it. Come to find out they were BSing and the store sold it to someone else after me. They conveniently did not have another available would I like to buy something else with a store credit. I had to repeatedly demand my money be refunded as I will NEVER shop there again. Proceed with caution and do not use the salesperson named Mae.

Awful, baffling experience here this weekend. Went in on Saturday looking to buy just a bed/mattress set, while there I found an entire bedroom set that I fell in love with and decided I wanted to go ahead and get the whole thing. A very nice delivery person happened to walk into the showroom and asked if we were being helped or if he could help us out with any questions. I said I was interested in finding out more about the set and he said we would grab a salesperson since he actually wasnt totally sure, but he wanted to make sure we werent feeling ignored since there werent sales people nearby to help if we needed anything which I thought was really great of him. Unfortunately the salesman he grabbed was awful. He said a few times that he was a bad salesman, I thought he was kidding but I guess I should have believed him. I asked my questions about the set, mostly pricing because the labels were wrong, and let him know I was also interested in buying a mattress, he simply pointed us in that direction and followed us but offered no assistance or recommendations and seemed totally disinterested in moving the sale forward (not once did he try to close on the sale or start discussing payment options/delivery timelines, anything at all, he just gave me the pricing and left it at that despite me making it very clear I was looking to make a purchase). At one point while I decided on a mattress my mother was looking around in the clearance section, which is located in the same room of the store and asked him about a table in that area that wasnt marked. He simply said it wasnt marked yet (clearly), but offered no assistance in finding a price. She said shed really like to know the price on it and it just kind of stood there, laughed at her, and offered no help. While she and I briefly discussed the table he wandered away without a word leaving us completely confused, so we took that as our sign to leave at that point and continue shopping elsewhere.

We purchased two bedroom sets. With the promise that they would be delivered within a two week period. Only part was delivered due to what they said was damaged product with the promise that Schewels would call early the following week with delivery date. That Never happened until I placed a number of calls at the end of the week. Sadly, its appears to us that this company is quick to sell but not good at fulfilling their promises.

We buy our home furniture from Schewels, their delivery service was worse ever we have 2 bed sets, dining set, sofa & the refrigerator. When they get in the refrigerator the delivery person damage our house door, I talk with manger and the lady who was helping us with our purchase they said will send someone to fixed it but since it’s being almost 2 months they never send anyone even don’t gave a single call while when I call the store they said our manager was working on . They damage our new home door and don’t pay attention abut it. Poor service ever.

Needed my MacBook Air 💻 pretty quickly because my classes were starting soon and instead of making me wait 2 weeks to have it ordered the Schewels in Richmond, VA called other stores to see if they had one in stock and they did. Someone from Lynchburg, VA drove all the way to Richmond to bring it to me and I only had to wait about 8 days for it. That’s going above and beyond for your customers! Thanks so much! I wish I could have given them NEGATIVE STARS! This business is a ripoff who doesnt stand behind their product nor their WARRANTY!!! They use third party repair companies, who came by my place to repair my couch after it had torn. They didnt fix the tear (I mean come on now, how hard is it to stitch something up) and then multiple times after the two initial visits from two separate third party repair companies, now they dont even show up when the appointments are scheduled.I finally had to get the BBB involved. Outrageous response!!! They told the BBB that they were Going through New Management and because of the transition that had absolutely nothing to do with me, they said they couldnt honor my warranty now since it was outside of the warranty period time... What?!?!? You sent third party repair companies out to my home twice, who couldnt fix the issue. You then were going through new management which was why I couldnt get repair people here when appointments were scheduled. And now you are telling me sorry, we cant help you because my sofa is no longer under warranty because your business was a complete mess, which has nothing to do with my problem... WHAT A JOKE!!!! BEWARE!!! DO NOT BUY FURNITURE FROM THESE PEOPLE.. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT OR THEIR WARRANTY!!!!

My wife and I swung by Schewel’s yesterday to look at some furniture for an upcoming home purchase. We were in the market to purchase several big items. We arrived before 5pm, and the doors were already locked. I motioned inside to someone who said To go around front. I was met at the front door with “We’re closing in 5 minutes”. Not, “How can I help you?” or “what were you looking for today?” Not 1 salesperson even made eye contact with us or said one word. Overall, the staff was at best indifferent and rude. We will be going elsewhere with our money.

Nothing, I found absolutely nothing that I was looking for that I considered worth the asking price. That doesnt mean there isnt anything nice in there, just that they couldnt accommodate my need. Would I go back, very unlikely.

Ok so went to this place and the manager ATTEMPTED a bait and switch now let me say Mr. Ceaser was AMAZING but the manager was a freaking PRICK!!!!! We have purchased furniture before and was satisfied but this go round I promise you it took EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING in my soul to not allow MOE to pop up and show out! Called schwels on January 12th to make a payment for 100.00 over the phone was placed on hold and Justin answered The phone and told me he could not take a payment less than 200.00 bc my account was behind. Now keep in mind my account was past due bc i thought my disability insurance was approved after sending in documents requested and never hearing anything back until 3 months later after receiving a past due notice in the mail only to find out the disability was declined. No one ever reached out or called me back prior to that. After being pressured to take out the disability insurance i did. I was told the reason it was declined is because the salesperson asked if i was employed and i said yes. Technically i was still employed i was out on short term disability. Manager very unprofessional. Didn’t take my 100.00. Wanted to know when i could bring the account up to date i told him i was hoping to pay the account off in full hopefully by March. He stated to call back in a week. I purchased from them before and paid the full balance off in less than 6 mo (stove, refrigerator and kitchen set). At this point i just want them to come and get the sofa and love seat. Never again

I have been dealing with this company for quite sometime now and i have obtained somenreallybnice pieces. And the staff is wonderful Mae and Vicky are our favorite. I have referred several family and friends their who have also purchased furniture as well. But I must part ways. We paid off every account and one time payments . B ut we wull not be making anymore purchases as Justin informed me that we can not purchase furniture as a gift and have it delivered to another address as this is policy he implied that they have trouble collecting their money and their lots of legal fees involved. They turned down 6000 dollars in sales we were humiliated the children heartbroken bad business practices.

I came into Schewels without the expectation of making a purchase but instead just to peruse through what was on clearance as Im moving into a new apartment in August. I was kindly greeted at the door by the salesperson on the floor, Mae, who led me and my mother over to look at some bedroom furniture sets and matress/box spring sets that really fit our needs. From there Mae was very good at asking questions and helping to guide me in the right direction for finding the best furniture for my situation while on a budget. During my time with Mae she introduced me to Gary, the store manager, who also was great about showing me all of the best deals on nice furniture and giving me a wide range of options to choose from that were still fairly priced, even though I am a college student and not necessarily the highest earner who comes through their doors. I genuinely appreciated the kind and dutiful service that was provided to me, no matter the circumstance or dollar amount I was spending, and cannot think of another furniture store comparable in the overall combination of price, quality, and customer service than Schewels on Broad and I will be sure not to take my business elsewhere as long as I am in the Richmond area. Thank you so much to Mae, Justin, and Gary for all of your help to my mother and I, allowing us to walk out with a mattress, box spring, coffee table, and reclining sofa all for a great price.
