It took about 30 minutes just to get into the store. Once inside, we picked out a puppy and a bear. As it was a 2 for $35 special (one for $25) We waited another 30 minutes to get the bear stuffed. My son was upset about just standing so long waiting. There wasn’t much to keep him entertained…..no places to sit down. They had 3 employees working. They needed way more than that! The employees were very nice to us. We picked out a couple outfits for each stuffed animal. We ending up spending about $65 total. So, it’s definitely not cheap for 2 stuffed animals. We spent about 1.5 hours total there. It takes a long time to get in the store and the bear built. Overall. It was a nice experience. Just be prepared for a long wait time.

Haven’t taken my 3 girls in any store in a year. Finally fully vaccinated. Had dinner at the mall (first family dinner out in a year too!) and rushed out to make it before closing at 8. Got there at 7:51. Very rude employee would not let us in. Told us since it takes 20 minutes to get through the process they wouldn’t let us come in. Needless to say we left the mall with 3 sad little girls.

We bring our daughter here every year as a Christmas tradition. Everything is normally great but our interaction with Elizabeth was absolutely horrible this time. She was rude and condescending over a miscommunication surrounding their current gift card promotion. Even after we agreed to pay for the entire bear and then process a refund (which included me now paying for the interest charge on our order) she aggressively swiped the card machine and talked down to us. We will probably end up taking our daughter to the other build a bear in the area for now on. After 10 years going here, you’ve lost us.

When I saw that Build-A-Bear came out with a Lion King line for the new remake, I knew I HAD to have one--either the adult Simba or the Pumbaa! We will never have a birthday party at Build a Bear again. There were too many limitations on what the kids could have, so parents are forced to shell out money to keep their kids from a meltdown. I had never been there before, so I didnt know what to expect. The party person assigned to us showed up late and was never really able to take charge and direct the group. There was no party room, so the kids couldnt have food, drinks, or cake. All of that aside, the kids did each walk away with a bear that they created for themselves. Every child was happy and did have fun. I just dont think its quite the right thing for a party. Its much better suited to individual experiences.

Build-A-Bear is probably the last place you should come if you want a cheap stuffed animal, but youre paying for the experience, not just the product. The bears are good quality, though, and the employees here are pretty great. My kids love this place... even if letting my three-year-old put a fire engine sound effect in his stuffed dog was maybe not the best idea.

We had a birthday party for my 5 year old granddaughter at this Build-A-Bear on 4-11-15. The person in charge of our group was great and I am sorry I dont know her name. There were 9 children who had a great time building, naming, dressing their animals. My older granddaughter was also building 3 animals, dressing them, etc., one of which was a surprise for the birthday girl. So, as we stood at the register to pay for the extra three animals and outfits......my daughter, granddaughters, and I......having already paid for the party.....so we easily paid $400 plus, the 5 year picked up an accessory to add to the purchase and the cashier informed us that she would have to go to the back of the line to purchase something else. WHAT!!!!!???? Even though we used one rewards card (mine) and were all there together.....she refused to add on that purchase. Unbelievable!! I have never experienced anything that crazy! I mentioned this to the woman who had been in charge of the party and she apologized but is this not ridiculous? I, personally, will never go there again. That is not the way you treat those trying to give money to the business where you work!

You wouldnt like this place. Anyone with a car and a mortgage payment sees this place for what it is. A cash grab where they offset the price of not having to pay for cheap labor to increase profit margins under the guise of bringing Teddy to life. Then they try and gouge you on every accessory, every extra thing teddy needs to be more complete. Teddy is just a poor substitute for the things the parent lacks or believes is missing or has been missed in their own lives. I see the likes of Teddy and many of his BAB friends at local thrift stores every day costing a buck or two at the most. Sound chips inside, fading battery still telling little Jacob that mommy loves him. Your well meaning memory and keepsake at the bottom of a bin. Anonymous outside context, sold for a buck.

Update 2: We were again at BAB, my daughters requested special activity before school starts back. They have addressed the checkout covert upsell issue, and I upgraded my review from 2 to 4 stars. My daughter paid with her own money, was treated graciously by the clerk, and she had a good experience. My 8yo son noticed the difference. It seems only fair to note that the company did much better this time.Update: CS for Build-A-Bear was friendly and helpful and gave us 2 reasonable options to address this issue.Original Review: This was our second trip to Build-A-Bear, and it was fine until checkout. My daughter was paying with her own money, and we had talked about what she could and could not choose all through our visit based on the money that she had to spend. At checkout, the clerk asked whether my daughter wanted a blue or a pink bag. She chose pink, the clerk put her purchase in the bag, and then the total was more than expected ~ and more than my daughter had in her wallet. I understand that the BAB business model is to sell overpriced stuffed animals in a cute experience, and to upsell with sound machines and clothing throughout the store, but those items are clearly labeled. Not mentioning that there is a $5 charge for the bag when a 5yo is on the other end of the transaction is dishonest and made a lesson on spending money into one on being misled by retailers. My daughter loves this place, and the employees are always friendly and do a good job of interacting with the kids to make the purchase an experience. I was really disappointed in the checkout experience. The lesson today was more appropriate to teaching my 5yo how to navigate a used car lot than a child-centered store at the mall.

We decided to go in since the store was not busy. My son picked out his bear, picked a song and then we got in to line to have it stuffed. There were only 4 people ahead of us. After 30 MINUTES in line I went up to the only other employee in the store and asked nicely why there is no one helping this one lady stuff animals. She tells me they are the only two working since the third person went on break. The third person went on break when we were 3rd in line. We were still in line, next customer, when she came back from her break. The lady stuffing the animals was great with the kids but seemed tired or overwhelmed. Of course something would be wrong with the bear we picked so it had to be hand stitched. The 2nd person in line had to pick another bear to be stuffed again. the 3rd person had a hole in their dinosaur and then us the 4th in line had to be hand stitched. Also the song box is in the body and not the arm so it is frustrating trying to find it. All in all it was not a good experience and the other employee could careless that people had to wait so long in such a short line.

Complete chaos. We had never been to build a bear before so we were waiting on someone to help us get started. An associate finally came over and vaguely instructed us on the stations. Took forever to get 2 animal friends for my son and our nephew (who was visiting from out of town)!! We waited in line for just over an hour with a 3 year old and 5 year old with patiences wearing thin!! There are 4 stuffing stations at this location and there were 5 or 6 employees working at the store but only 2 stations were in use. The line moved very slowly and all of the kids waiting were getting cranky as well as the parents getting frustrated. The staff was helpful enough when picking out the animal friend and at checkout (which had another 10+ minute wait). Im sure this increased customer presence at the store was due to the recent pay your age promotion, as we were there to use our coupon too. But we couldnt come back later since our nephew was just visiting for the weekend. What could have been a fun experience for the kids ended up in tears as they kept getting into trouble from waiting so long and we ran out of ideas of things to do to keep their interest. Once we finally got up to the front for our turn, it was great, but I was so irritated at that point I forgot to get a photo of them with their new friends. Sigh. But they do love them and they are good quality stuffed animals.

We came in when it was a bit busy, and were helped by a very energetic staff member. My girls were hungry so we decided to come back after dinner...it was nearly empty when we walked back in around 630. Neither of the two new employees greeted us (the one we met previously was gone), and seemed like they didnt want to be there. We grabbed an adult Simba to have stuffed, and walked over to where we thought the line was, next to a sign facing us that read line starts here. We were the only ones in line while a young couple was having several pokemon animals stuffed by one employee. Two ladies got in line after us, got tired of waiting, and left, leaving us in line alone again. After probably close to ten minutes, the only other staff member walked over to us, and asked us if we needed help finding anything, to which we said no, were waiting for stuffing. Oh, well the line for that is over there, and she motioned to a roped off area right next to us that now suddenly had 2 to 3 other people standing in it, meaning we were being pushed to the back of a line that formed after us. The several times the stuffing employee looked at us, she didnt bother to redirect us so we would have been in the right spot, two feet over in a 3 rope section. They had the front of that line roped off like they didnt want anyone standing there, so we stood next to the sign, which was also next to a bench so one of my daughters could sit and rest her legs (she has CP and wears braces). We decided to leave, and the cashier was rather snotty with me when I told her gently that I wish we would have known where the line was supposed to start when we were the only ones here. She even threw a very sarcastic have a nice night after us as we walked out.Had it not been for her attitude and comments, we would have been back in a week after my daughters next specialist appointment. We wont be back to this location. Ever.

Get some more employees or at least have two stuffing machines staffed. Waiting an hour in line before you can get to the stuffer is ridiculous. Also take the recording station and move it or put it in a booth. When you are trying to record something its right next to the long line of everyone talking and kids yelling, laughing, screaming etc so that all gets recorded onto your special message. For the amount of money parents are spending at this place they could spend a little of it to improve the opperations or flow or general experience. Ill avoid this place in the future if this is your norm.

Usually always an amazing experience. We went through the whole process of buying a bear except actually buying it. My Wife and I were so upset with customer service we decided not to give them our business this time. All the girl tried to do the entire time was up sell products and I understand its her job but I didnt like the way she went about it.We went in there for the pay your age birthday bear, which they didnt have and we had to get a replacement one. Then she went on to say you can get any bear you want. I responded with for the pay your age. She says well its like we talked about this is an add on. You are suppose to buy 2 buys when you come in for this.We asked for the bear to have basically no stuffing in it at all and she competely filled it with stuffing and i asked for a new one, but she said ill just take some of the stuffing out. 15 minites later we are still standing there waiting. Finally i just gave up and said that was enough even though it wasnt.Next came dont forget you need to put this beating heart in your bear and then you have to choose a smell for the bear. To me she implied it was something you had to do but never said there was an extra charge. We knew it was extra only because we go there at least twice a year. Even the customers before us were unhappy with her for selling them products that had an extra charges to it. The girl tried to play it off as she told the little kid thst there was an extra charge after being questioned by another employee once they went up to pay.It was just an awful experience for myself and my kids from how we are usually treated. We expect more from build a bear.
