You will not regret eating here. You will want to eat here again and again at different times of day and try everything on their menu! The ambiance of the place is very cute, the service is friendly and fast, and the food is incredible! We went for brunch and I’m usually iffy about home fries but their home fries were perfectly seasoned and perfectly crispy. The egg sandwich was so good that the guy next to me saw it and immediately knew he would order the same thing. I cannot recommend this place enough! Can’t wait to go back!
If I could give them 10 stars I would. From the moment I met the host it was a great experience. I ordered one of the most simplest things on the menu...Roasted Vegetables. If they can make simple fantastic than they win the prize of being the best Ive had all week. They won. Who knew spaghetti squash could taste this good. Last but not least the bartender is wonderful and the wine list superb
I was so surprised at how much I loved this place! It’s never really been on my radar, but I’m glad we stumbled in tonight! We got the cheese board as an appetizer & it was all so delicious! As my main course I got the cast iron roasted burger with a side salad...I was part of the clean plate club within minutes! The burger had some bacon jam on it that was A+! The cocktails we had were absolutely amazing, very unique! My gin cocktail had pecans, apple slices & honey. Needless to say, this place checked off everything on my list! (They have outside seating with heaters which is nice during this time of year❄️)
The Hostess was very friendly- I highly recommend reservations, especially for Brunch. This seems to be a great spot and the food is good and the portions arent too much. They have reasonably priced drinks. I will return to try for another meal at some point. It is a little smaller inside and with current restrictions, there are few tables inside but they do have tented and heated seating on their patio to care for the colder days.
I loved the entire experience from the food to the ambience and just the story of the chef. What a coincidence theyve also visited 30 plus countries and so have I and they even had postcards.. Just like I collect postcards every place that I go.. loved itNC crab cake and fried egg Benedict was delicious and I also tried the grits and the Belgian waffle.Belgian waffle wasnt quite what I was hoping the light and fluffy true Belgian waffle.. I love the apple butter that was pretty unique..
We had a wonderful experience. Food was delicious and very nice waiter. They made us feel special for our anniversary. We sat on the patio which was beautiful. Not the restaurants fault but there was a barking dog on the patio, annoying.
Had the Fettuccine with shrimp and mushrooms.. was outstanding.Canned beer could have been colder..but no where near warm to the point of being enough to say something (hate being that guy).. just wasn’t that “ice cold” first sip that you look forward to.Atmosphere was nice, not too loud, and decor was very well done.Host stand could have been clearer..just kind of wandered in to get a table. All around good experience.
This little joint is a fantastic stop to make for brunch on Glenwood. The restaurant has a nice outside that looks into the street with heated patio seating for the colder months. The inside is small, yet spacious making the restaurant feel larger than it is. Plus they have a nice stocked bar to boot.I got the French toast, which was fantastically prepared. My brother got the spinach burger, we recommend adding the egg and avocado (bacon too if youre not vegetarian) which was great! It comes with delicious sweet potato chips, which we think were air fried. Also the green eggs and ham are out of this world delicious.I would also recommend the morning cocktails, I got the tequila based drink and as someone who doesnt like tequila I was surprised how delicious the beverage was. Finally it server was amazing. Very friendly and social making the whole experience fantastic. Definitely worth stopping at this place if you are in the area and want a good breakfast or brunch.
Been here a number of times - and everytime it’s delicious! Creative menu with fresh ingredients. We always start with the Tasty Toast (whipped goat cheese - yum) - and we usually end up ordering another one while waiting for our main course! The raviolis are delicious. Family has had the short ribs, the vegan plate.. All worth it, lots of flavors - and loved by all at our table! The bourbon cocktail btw - has a candy hibiscus! Both husband and son-in-law loved the drink. The services good but could be more efficient. Seems a smidge understaffed.
Excellent service, food and drinks. Would highly recommend!!
Came here with a friend for brunch. The team here needed more support, as there was only one server and one bartender. Food was alright, but one dish was warm while the other was cold. No creamer for coffee. I ordered a tea and was served half a mug full, which was a bit disappointing. Would be willing to give it another shot though.
What a pleasant surprise! We have never eaten here and finally did. Brussels sprouts were just as described. They are being safe. It’s not easy being in the service industry and trying to follow all the guidelines, but this place had it down. Service was fast and friendly !Cannot wait to return!
Plates really has it all. Along with a lovely ambiance, you can enjoy thoughtfully prepared cocktails, wonderful wine pairings, and incredible food that you will return for again and again. This is the kind of place that wants to see you return and so they provide you with the level of service that entices you to continue to be a part of such a unique scene. This establishment is owned and operated by caring, considerate and well admired professionals and their very knowledgeable wait staff are attentive and eager to assist you in allowing you the experience you deserve.
We came up from Charleston where brunch is a separate religion. This one of the best brunch experiences my girlfriend and I have ever had! Very impressive!!!
Really nice place! The fettuccini was amazing, and we found out that they hand make it in the morning. Would recommend checking out for sure
Some friends and I found this place accidentally and it quickly became a favorite! I love that they have such a diverse menu for many different diets. This is one of the few places that my gluten-free vegan friend and I can both enjoy! The service is always great and I love the online reservation system! My sweet puppy loves coming because she knows the wait staff will give her lots of attention. The food is delicious no matter when you go, but I am a huge fan of their weekend brunch. The atmosphere is great and the patio is perfect for people watching with a mimosa. I cannot say enough good things about Plates!
Amazing farm to table with a rotating menu. Definitely want to make a reservation due to the size ( and they validate your parking)they don’t skimp on awesome service and ridiculously tasty food! Coffee is worth the try as well!
We are from Maryland and had a wonderful breakfast this morning. We took our dogs and they had a blast. Workers had a water bowl ready for us ASAP. High class food without the high class ticket. Thank you!
I came here on Easter Sunday and had a great experience. I came here based on prior reviews and it lived up to its reputation. The host was inviting and quickly found us a seat outside like I wanted. They had great choices on the beer menu and I liked how the food menu was small but diverse. I got the power bowl and added egg as the waitress suggested (she was great too). Another thing I liked is how they serve you a jar of water. I wish all places did that. No one wants to wait on their server for a water refill, and I dont want my water with ice anyways.
We are regulars at Plates for dinner but this past Sunday was our first time in for brunch, and brunch under new chef Jake Wood, in fact. I made reservations the day before and Im glad I did because they are often completely booked come Sunday morning. The menu offered a large variety of both sweet and savory dishes and the portion sizes were generous. All are unique takes on brunch comfort foods - the bae Berry biscuits put Bojangles to shame based on size alone. Looking forward already to our next meal at Plates!
Awesome Experience. Friendly staff, The food was prepared to perfection.
We have been to Plates many times and loved the food and service. However, tonight when I went make reservations for tomorrow night, I was told that they charge a $20 PER person cancellation fee if you do not show up and cancel within 24 hrs. prior to your reservation. The fee is a ridiculous overcharge. I understand that restaurants need to have people show up for their reserved time but every place that we have gone out to, we always call if we are not showing up. I understand this is a small business however the customer service aspect of this really has me quick upset. We will not be going to Plates tomorrow or anytime in the future. We made a reservation at Soca and will enjoy a wonderful evening of fine finning, and friends. The response form the owner to my review was rude. He called me a disrespectful guest even though I stated that we call if we cannot make a reservation. This has only happened once. This is a interesting way to treat a past (not future) customer. It seems like respectful customers are paying (quite literally) for customers who are discourteousWe go out to eat every weekend with friends and have made reservations at restaurants from the Angus Barn where my own son is a server and is an independently owned successful restaurant (with world-renowned customer service) to Nofo and have NEVER paid a cancellation fee. If someone does not show up, evidently Plates does not have enough walk ins to give the table to another party. That says a lot about their business model. I work for a small business and understand the need to be profitable but not at the expense of customer service and referrals which are the mainstay of all small businesses. This makes me sad because we love the food and waitstaff service we received at Plates in the past. Now a rude owner response to a honest criticism has made him lose a customer for life and our friends who were dining with us tonight are also as similar antagonized and will not be going to Plates in the future.
Ive been to Plates several times and it is bar far and above one of my favorite restaurants in Raleigh. The staff are above and beyond nice. My partner is from England, and he says the sticky toffee pudding here is the best hes ever had. Seriously, we go here just for drinks and dessert sometimes. But, their short rib is incredible too. All around a wonderful restaurant. We have made it our birthday, anniversary, and holiday date spot.
Absolutely fantastic! 3 party, bartender is very helpful and has a bright personality. The Daydrinker breakfast cocktail and eggs benedict was impressive!
Would give no stars.Website says can reserve a table,It cant! Then i called to asked if in the morning its busy since its 6 of us.I was told they probably wouldnt be able to serve us! Then i continued to ask so should we just not come in and was told probably not because it gets really busy.Train your employees not to turn away money and better Customer service. Will be telling people NOT to go here.Poor Service.
Received a gift card from my boss at work... had never heard of if before hand... and it’s now our favorite spot... we’ve done a lot of takeout since the pandemic... there food is always packaged well.. fresh and hot... my order has always been correct.. and ready when I get there... I highly suggest you try the brunch...
We had a delicious meal at Plates last night. My pork chop was the best I’ve ever had. The fig cake dessert is unique and excellent - the perfect size for two to share. The service was wonderful. I usually don’t take the time to leave reviews. Our experience was so fantastic that I felt I must share.
The food explodes with unique and tasteful flavors that doesn’t disappoint. We went for our anniversary and the food and service exceeded our expectations. The experience was so great I asked for a picture with the chef and he obliged. Definitely in my top 10 places to eat in Raleigh, NC.
$3 mimosas and cheese grits will have me coming back. All of my friend’s food looked good and fresh as well.
Very mediocre food, and definitely not worth the cost. Save yourself and go somewhere else. Pretty awful service as well.
Just treated us to complimentary champagne to celebrate an engagement, thanks so much Plates! Food was delicious
My wife and I came here for lunch. She ordered the shrimp and grits and I got their special, which was Salmon scampi. Food was amazing, solid portions and especially good for the lunch prices! ($12/entree). Great service as well. Highly recommend. Make sure you ask for Elaina! She was amazing and beautiful!!
Nice ambiance. Delicious food. Wonderful people. Thanks again, Brady for going above and beyond.
Amazing experience of tastes in your mouth😛😛😛Youre a fool to not eat here😁
Great service and awesome brunch!! Dont bother with the appetizers though...had two of them and not a fan! But the egg bacon avocado croissant sandwich and cheesy grits was AWESOME. Their mimosas were strong...just the way I like it! We went on a Sunday afternoon and all the indoor seating was taken/reserved so consider reserving if you will go at a busy time when its cold. But they gave us blankets and they have heat lamps so they tried. Honestly if it wasnt for the terrible appetizers would have given this place a 5.
Amazing pasta! Definitely try their sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Cocktails were a 5/5!
This place is pretty good and great for brunch! I’m so glad they have labeled vegan options. I got the hash I think, though it was a bit soggy for some reason, but the potatoes were so good and crispy. Cute place for outdoor seating!
My family had the place to ourselves for brunch on the patio on my wedding day this past Thursday. Our servers were awesome and the food/mimosas were top notch. Our family loved the atmosphere and talked about coming back before we even left!
Food was super yummy, service was fantastic, and the ambiance was great. Gluten free options and plenty of choices. Clean and friendly.
Amazing for brunch- eggs Benedict with trout cakes is fantastic. I understand why it’s always difficult to get a brunch reservation here!
Eating here was an experience. The food is incredibly well thought out, cooked to perfection, and unique. Its not really easy to know what influence each dish has which makes it so unique of a dining experience. The bar tender was incredibly helpful and explained each drink and the waitstaff was awesome. Went during restaurant week and got the 3 course meal, defintely worth the $30.
Had a great outdoor brunch with a friend and her dog. The mimosas were delicious and reasonably priced. Plus the food was delicious!
Absolutely brilliant. I’m always so pleased when I come here. I’ve never been disappointed. Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who are proud of their work.Especially Taylor — she’s an incredibly talented server who ensures I always have a smile on my face and feel welcome. Her recommendations are ALWAYS on point, too. Sit in her section if you can!!Plus... can we talk about the food???Phenomenal.
Food was ok but gravy in the vinegar and grease for the app and break meal. Outdoor seating was just ok, many other outdoor options around town with better ambiance.
Had a lovely evening here with my family. Food was yummy and service was great.
*Update* These individuals listed me as a no show after I ate dinner at their establishment. After calling them, with the receipt, they told me I wasnt there and tries to charge me for a no show. We had the beef tenderloin loin and the ramp fettuccine.Food is good but trash service. Sat around inside over 40 minutes with just waters. Would love to get a chance to eat the food but if I make reservations and all youll give me is water when there are eight tables....
Great brunch a little pricey but great food coffee was the best ever!! Manager was great beautiful personality. Good atmosphere. Please try it!!
Delicious food, good prices, and friendly service! Underrated brunch spot!
Food was superb! Everything about our experience was exceptional, would definitely recommend.
Great little spot! Went for brunch the day before Valentines day, we ended up sitting outside because I waited too late to make reservations, but they sat us at a high top table and placed a heater right beside us so we were warm and toasty! My son got the Crab cake eggs benedict with side salad, he loved it, and I got the broccoli cheddar soup (perfect on a cold day and highly flavorful) and upgraded deviled eggs. Everything was delicious and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. If you havent been, youre missing out for sure! Make your reservation today. 😊
Some of best breakfast in Raleigh! The crispy potatoes were a highlight - perfectly seasoned and perfect texture! The mushroom omelette was complex in flavor and fluffy! Highly recommend the food and incredibly friendly staff!
Good food and great service! The menu is so diverse and the drinks are delicious!
This is a dining experience you want to have. The food is spectacular, it truly is. We started with Crab and Fennel Beignets accompanied by a perfectly balanced, garlicky aioli. Youll want to lick the bowl; I promise. I had their short ribs. They were perfectly cooked, meltingly tender, with a rich, meaty sauce on Yukon gold mashed potatoes. But, you must save room for the sticky toffee pudding. Its light, sticky, and rich. The perfect dessert to share with that special someone. The service was professional, unobtrusive and friendly. Justin is the perfect host. We can hardly wait to return!Had a return visit and it was yet again a gustatory delight. If you havent dined here yet, youre missing out. Tonight we shared their Pimento Goat Cheese wth Hoppin John Cakes as a starter. Then the Pork Chop with Sorghum Mustard Sauce on Spaetzle and NC Snapper on Golden Rice with Charred Ramps and we shared a Strawberry Shortcake to finish. Yum!
Good experience good food, very ambiance setting with a modern twist
Went in for a meal and 2 of us wound up extremely sick that night after having the same meal.Contacted management to make them aware and ask for a resolution as some of their food was obviously spoiled or tainted.Havent heard back after several days.
Wow!!! We ordered Thanksgiving dinner for our family from here and were blown away at how great everything was. It was all absolutely fantastic! Everything was packaged well and was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Thank you so much for making our holiday more enjoyable by not having to cook all day!
My friends and I are obsessed with their $3 mimosas and their amazing food. Typically, I have an amazing experience and cant wait to go again. Out of the four times Ive been I have only had a bad experience once and it was more with the service than with the food. I highly recommend giving it a shot!
Amazing food great coffee and the friendliest staff, just a short walk from the oragin hotel and nestled in a trendy neighborhood. Exactly the atmosphere we were looking for.
My family and I went to four different Raleigh restaurants over the course of four days. All of them were delicious, but Plates was mutually agreed upon as the best.It was evident that their produce is fresh and the seasonings were delicious. Two of us had the summer vegetable pasta (fresh pasta!), while one had a salad with salmon. The outside of the salmon was slightly crisp while the inside was the perfect amount of flaky. After our meals we had the Sticky Toffee Pudding which is actually more of a cake with toffee sauce on it. We wanted a different dessert originally, but it wasnt being served that day so we got the pudding. We are so glad we did. We devoured it and ended up ordering a second one. Theres a reason that this is a constant on their menu. Dont leave here without trying it!Will definitely be back.
I would absolutely recommend this wonderful restaurant and bar to anyone! The staff is incredibly friendly, warm, and kind, and it’s a wonderful location to enjoy and relax at.
Staff was knowledgeable and polite. Service was extremely fast! The food and drinks not only looked good, but also tasted excellent! Vegetarian options available.
Service was great & prompt. We were seated right away without a reservation. Mimosas are $3 a glass or $15 for a pitcher. Food is priced great, and tasty. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is because the food wasnt hot. It was 3 of us & everyones food was less than luke warm. I would definitely go back for the pineapple mimosas and home fries.
The crab cake and egg benedict was delicious! I enjoyed that it came with a refreshing salad as well. Service was great - staff was friendly and attentive. Will come back here again! :)
Some really delicious cross between fine dining and good ol southern home style cooking. Im writing this review because after so many times and dishes I had my socks knocked off yet again - this time by a simple tomato sandwich. HAH. 5 stars - must try.
Food and coffee were yummy! Dog friendly too! Loved it.
Love the food and cute little ambience. Make sure to get a reservation before stopping by!
I was stunned! Our family has been ordering out Thanksgiving dinner for several years now. Never have we been delivered food prepared with such excellence, passion. and care. On top of that they donated money to the local food bank as well. I am truly thankful.
All I can say is WOW!! A friend recommended that I try Plates out, and I know Im going to be hooked now. Made it in time for brunch on a Sunday and had the B.E.C sandwich on an English muffin! 🤤🤤🤤 The mimosas were delicious and only $3 a glass!!! We enjoyed having Jenna as our server. She had a great personality!Overall I thought the meal was an excellent value (pricing was terrific) and the food was perfect!! I ate every crumb!I cant want to come back and try dinner here.
Came here for a Sunday brunch and was extremely pleased with the food and the vibe! I got the huevos rancheros and they were delicious. My friends got the waffles and they were also fantastic. Plus they have $3 mimosas on Sundays. Service was pretty good too. It gets busy so make a reservation in advance.
I wish I could give it more stars - the brunch charcuterie board was amazing, and our server Taylor could not have been nicer! Ill be back anytime Im in town.
Staff was very nice; however, we found the food quality and taste to be below average.
We love going to this place. The food is always excellent and the service is as well. Tonight the short ribs were pretty bad (it happens sometimes with this cut of meat), but they happily took it off the bill without me asking, whipped up another delicious meal, and gave us dessert for free for the trouble. Will certainly continue to go back.
