Went for Brunch. Service was slow, but very Friendly. Coffee, and M. Cristo was tasty. However, Biscuits and gravy were underwhelming. biscuits almost burnt/flat, and overly milky gravy lacked flavor. The biggest disappointment was the bacon. It took Crispy to another level. Overcooked in my opinion. It was basically room temperature, tasteless pork bark. If this is how House Bacon tastes it is obviously not for me. I can understand the slow service right now, but the food will definitely not have me rushing back.
A small but eclectic menu with lots to love in an interesting venue. Its pricey, but the quality seems good enough to justify it for the most part. The wings were good albeit small. The sandwiches were also really good. The pizza however was outstanding! By far the best thing we got. Its also 20 dollars for a personal panned pizza so you pay for the privilege of enjoying these things. The wait was long for everything and the service friendly though often absent. If I lived nearby Id come back. I have been all over the area on vacation lately and have had some seriously incredible experiences. Its hard to dock this place a star, but the other places Ive been lately have just been incredibly good.
Excellent service! Our server gave us great recommendations for cocktails and food. The fresh ingredients and creative recipes made for an excellent experience. We loved being able to dine outside in a covered space. There is ample parking.
Love this place! The menu is always changing and they kill everything they put on there, arguably the best lobster roll I’ve ever had. (Yes, even considering ME NH, Cape Cod, etc. I’ve had a bunch) They do awesome muffulettas and Po Boys too. GREAT cocktail selection and awesome beers and the staff and owners were all incredible! Super friendly and hospitable. Highly Recommend this spot, definitely a hidden gem in Raleigh!
Have lunch this weekend. What a nice place and very friendly, pleasant helpful staff. We arrived at almost the closing time, yet the host reassured us will not be any pressure, as long as we got the order in before.Waitress was delightful.Had the oysters, excellent, as well as the tomato Quiché.And yes, will returnDavid
My group of four got the burger, blackened fish sandwich, wings, and a pizza. Everything was excellent, we didnt have a reservation but we were seated immediately. The service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Its kinda pricey but not astronomical, everything plus a couple beers was under $100 before tip. Well be going back.
One of our favorite spots in Raleigh for both brunch and dinner. The staff is so wonderful and energetic and knowledgeable of the the menu. I have tried almost everything on the menu and would give all 5 stars.
Went here for brunch. Second folks seated. Ordered drinks 30 minutes later. Informed that their system was done at 45 minutes. Never heard from a manager. Never got an apology. Will not be going back. Left at an hour hungry and unhappy
Excellent food. Friendly service. I picked up some lunch, because my daughter was doing a volleyball showcase at William Peace University. Not something that I think they normally do, but we’re very accommodating. I also witnessed a rude costumer, and the hostess handled it with a smile and more patience than I would have. Give them a try! Glad we did & we’ll definitely be back.
Nice and attentive service. The PoBoy was filling and delicious to eat. The fried oyster was smaller than Id like but at least it wasnt entirely dry. The shrimp made up for it by being a good size. I enjoyed the sour beer and my friends seemed to have enjoyed their drinks too 👍🏼
Staff was friendly and helpful. Outdoor seating very nice on a cool day. Went for Sunday brunch my wife had the quiche woth fennel and potatoes with a fancy greens salad. She was very happy good flavor and filling. I had the sausage gravy with biscuits not bad a bit dark on color for me and sausage a little too finey ground, not your typical sausage gravy. It dies come with 2 eggs your choice on top. I did over easy. Overall the flavor was good but not stellar and a bit pricey their bourbon glazed sticky bun with pecans on the other hand was very good as were the ricotta fritters with jam and cream. Excellent!! Overall a good spot make reservations if looking for Sunday brunch. Happy eats.
Good service and dog friendly. Lovely outdoor seating. Rated 3 stars because the plates are very small. Please don’t come hungry. Also, make reservations!
We went for a friends birthday and had a great time. Our waitress, Sara, went above and beyond. She was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Thank you!
What a hidden gem! The drinks and food were outstanding and extremely thoughtful. The service was also wonderful. 10/10 will absolutely be coming again.
Wanted to grab some good and quick!!!! My first time eating but as soon as I saw my favorite waitress from another favorite spot, I knew the food here would be great!!! She suggested the avocado toast with a fried medium over well egg and this spicy peanut sala!!!!!! I paired it with a drink made from wild flowers and raw honey and finished my meal with a sticky bun with sea salt and caramel!!! SOOO FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!!!! 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Always delicious and attractively presented food. Well paced delivery, and friendly, attentive staff.
First time dining at Hummingbird. Friends and I went for brunch and they had a quality menu. Service was quick and easy. Only downside was a few people at my table requested gluten free bread and they came back to say they were all out. They did accommodate them but their meals were not as enjoyable because of that. I’d go back however, despite that. Chicken and waffles were great.
Hummingbird is a great addition to this area. The food was consistently good. Sadly, I can’t say the same about the servers and bar staff; everything was inconsistent and slow, major emphasis on slow. Since they are newer, I am hoping they are just ironing out some kinks. The 4 stars are mainly for the food (kudos to the chef that night), location, and patio.
GREAT brunch!! This is the first time Ive been here.. but there will likely be many more visits in my future!
Great food and staff. Definitely coming back.
This place has a really neat vibe and is in a cool location. Pros: Unique menu and cocktails, cool decor, and a personal feel. Cons: Drinks are fairly expensive and small. Service was on the slower side and food arrived before the drinks did. Other places I’ve been made the drinks in front of you and it was sort of like a performance, they didn’t do that here. Overall, a cool place to try that just needs a few small changes to make it great!
Always a brunch favorite but make sure to get there early. Tables fill fast!
Had a reservation last night and was seated at the very far end of their porch outside of the area that’s protected with plastic sheeting. It seemed like we weren’t even seated within the regular restaurant space. It was windy and raining, and there were open tables plus space to rearrange our table inside the protected area so I asked if we could move. The manager/hostess (?) responded with eye rolling, said they couldn’t do anything and “I mean, it’s just wind”. I reiterated that we had intentionally made a reservation to sit on the covered porch knowing that they had some weather protection around it. She then offered to move tables around so we could sit in the protected area, which we did. There were numerous other issues - we had to move again because something was broken near our table, they brought us a free dessert to make up for it but brought it before our entrees even arrived. It was truly a mess. But I can tolerate and even laugh about chaos, not rudeness. There was absolutely no reason for the manager to be so flippant and rude, especially when there was an easy fix. Disappointed and do not recommend!
Magnificent food, service, and atmosphere! Water bowls for pups if eating outside.
Guys. Wait, guys. This place is next level.Atmosphere- A+Food- A++ The crab dip was sublime and my schnitzel was amazing.Pleasr come here. You wont regret it.
Snazzy! Prepare your butt to be nestled in faux fur while you hobnob in your youthful vibrancy amongst friends of patio pleasantries. One of the best brunch spots the city has to offer. Located in an unexpected yet rather convenient location.
Overall a unique Raleigh experience, however the menu was spotty, the oysters were amazing but the grilled romaine left a lot to be desired. The cocktails as displayed by the picture are delicious. Also, our waitress was to put nicely, out of it, she couldnt look us in the eye or remember what we ordered, twice.
8:15 Reservation8:30 Got drinks and ordered food8:40 Got appetizers8:55 Last call for drinks (First person to come around in 15 minutes. Wed finished our drinks for ages and just wanted our food.9:15 Entrees arrive 45 minutes after we order. We ask for a to go box because we just want to leave. Server brings a cardboard box. For a pot pie. I looked at her and said Im going to have to take the dish its served in and bring it back later. She rolled her eyes and said fine.Really terrible service. And the worst part was that they didnt seem apologetic at all and did absolutely nothing to make it right. They blamed it on a lot of people who came in at the same time. Thats not really an excuse for making people wait like that. Theres really no justification for it. The truth is they switched servers and forgot us, then blamed other diners instead of taking responsibility. Ive never had such bad service at a restaurant in my life.Theres just no legitimate defense for this. None. Food was okay, nothing special I couldnt have gotten from any similarly priced restaurant in Raleigh. Service was absolutely awful.
So I just dined here for brunch with my lady friend and wow 👏 from the delicately seasoned broiled oysters (east coast) to the huevos rancheros with its over medium eggs and creamy avocado and just a brightness that the green salsa gives 😋 and insuppose have you really lived if you didnt order a sweet? Pecan bourbon sticky bun for the W! Well executed food with excellent service to match. They work as a team here and it comes through as such. Will def return 👌
Note its New Orleans inspired. Its good food.
We love Hummingbirds! Great people, great drinks, and great food! The oysters are my favorite appetizer and the featured cocktails change and never disappoint. The staff are friendly and attentive and the outside seating is beautiful!
A tiny bit pricey but theyre food is incredible, service is fantastic, and its in a fun location. Deep dish pizza is a 10
Deviled Eggs are super good. Great server. Amazing pork chop and fantastic location. Charred cabbage was a sleeper hit. Golden latte was super as well. Excited to visit again.
Meal was good; there was an issue that was fixed. Overall would recommend.
Love this place! Atmosphere is relaxed and the staff is top notch (shoutout to Ashley, who’s always great.) The cocktails are unique and are in fairly regular rotation, so there’s often something new to try. The food is amazing, but in particular the po-boy holds up to one you’d get in NOLA, and the roasted oysters are straight up the best ones in town. Plenty of good options for sharing between two people too (the ribeye is a good choice.) This is one of the best spots to open in recent years and I’ve enjoyed it every time I’ve been.
My favorite place to eat in Raleigh! The food is to die for (the tomato pie and chaat are two of my favorites, but literally everything on the menu is fantastic.) every time I have been the service has been spot on, and they are unbelievably accommodating. It can be tricky to get a table here without a reservation, but the host has always done her best to find a table. This place also has a fantastic atmosphere- perfect for taking a pic for your Facebook or instagram. This place is a must, so don’t pass it up!
Great food and great service.
It was amazing we recommend it to everyone.
Only chef lady to come out and ask, of my experience she made me fill inportant she cares., very professional,.
Go to Hummingbird frequently for drinks, but it had been a while since I had dinner there. Tonight, we shared small plates to start, and upon eating the brussel sprouts salad, I discovered a piece of glass. I flagged down a waiter, and I believe the manager came out a few minutes later. She assured me it was “just plastic from a container” as it broke into pieces when she touched it? In my opinion, plastic (and/or glass which is also breakable) in your food is not acceptable. They finally cleared away our plates and silverware. Our entree arrived, and when I asked for new plates and silverware, the manager had an attitude and seemed irritated. We then received our check to discover the salad still on our bill. Very disappointing and shocking to our entire table. Too many outstanding restaurants in Raleigh for mediocre food and even worse customer service.
Good food, and a really relaxing atmosphere. Make reservations for the patio, its worth it
Fantastic food and great service. This place has become my Thursday go to. Ive yet to have a bad experience or bad food. My personal favorite so far has been the two styles of oysters (baked and smoked) and the ribeye. Best of all they put up with me.
Best covered outdoor space in Raleigh. Great dog atmosphere. Small indoor dining space. Great bartenders. Great food. Small menu. One of the absolute best spots in Raleigh.
Delicious food and good service.
I’m seriously picky, but the excellent service and perfectly executed dishes here reminded me why I love our local chefs and food scene. This place is under the radar but has arguable some of the beat food in Raleigh. Did I mention the fun, outdoor, carefully spaced, covered porch perfect in the age of COVID-19. Go here now.
Everything is fabulous. The vibe, the staff, the food and the drinks. For breakfast The best avocado toast ever. Dont get me started on the butterscotch sticky bun. For dinner? Who knows how to say what is best because it is all so good. Im in love. Went to the Brewery next door and ended up here with some business acquaintances. Tapas-like place with good food and service. Three of us shared 5 dishes - all were good. We shared most of them and that filled us up. Fun environment in a fun, new area. Off the beaten path - right in the middle of a lot of stuff if that makes sense.
The food and atmosphere were amazing! Best po boy in town. Cant wait to go back!
Great place with a friendly staff. The food was superb. Although this was our first visit.......I believe our choices were great.....so here goes. My wife started with the Hummingbird Fizz signature drink.....and I had an amber lager. We tried two small plates to share, the wings and fall salad....both were phenomenal. We then ordered dinner...I had the pork cheeks which were five or six incredibly tender pieces of meat over potatoes and broccolii (steamed) over the top. My wife had the chicken......and she was able to finish half (the rest will be for lunch tomorrow). We also had the charred cabbage which really was unique and very tasty. Well be back.
Great atmosphere. Buckwheat pasta and brussels sprout salad are favorites. Staff is very friendly.
Surprised at the positive reviews here. Ours was quite A different experience. We started our brunch experience with A mimosa and A Bloody Mary. So far, so good. Placed our food order and waited 45 minutes and still no food. Our server then came out and apologized for the wait and said they were plating our food and it would be right out. Still good, we were just happy that we were about to be served. 10 minutes later, still no food. At this point wepaid $19 for our drinks, and left hungry. It would have been “good business” to comp our drinks. Since no effort was made to make up for our bad experience, we will not be likely to give them a second chance.
I went to Hummingbird for a cold brew coffee and did not realize they were not even open yet and they still served me. The staff was very warm and friendly and still accommodated me even though I made a mistake on their hours. The cold brew was amazing and I would definitely come visit them again.
Delicious! Went in for brunch around 1pm on a Sunday and it was reservation only but we were able to get a spot at the bar. Delicious biscuits and gravy, and the breakfast burger was great too! Unique cocktails.
My family and I arrived here for a pleasant brunch, we got here and we were seated, it was a good environment and looked like a great place to eat. We got two orders chicken and waffles and order one biscuits and gravy. We finally got our food after 35 minutes, the biscuits and gravy was good but the chicken and waffles is another story. We first noticed the waffle was burned, we were informed it was a special type of waffle but the texture was as crunchy as a potato chip, they offered to replace it. Then I cut my chicken and inside was pink and raw, we cut the other open and it was just as bad. Management was not apologetic but it was comped. I would not recommend coming here
The food was gorgeous and wonderful - I had a salad with chicory - and so were the drinks. I had something grapefruit, I think, garnished with rosemary. I loved it. This place nails all the greatest details - heavy silver, paper straws, cloth napkins and cloth towels. In addition, the décor is, like, this beautifully sophisticated mix of traditional, rustic, industrial, MCM and, like, normal elements. The whole experience ends up just being a joy - cozy and chic. The service was unbeatable
Very cute spot with awesome food, wonderful service & dog friendly which is always a plus (: (: (:The grilled cheese comes with seasonal jam, they do put a lot on it so if you’re not a jam person I would ask for little to no jam. Other than that, everything was fantastic!
The service was very good. The pulled chicken sandwich was excellent but the Reuben was nothing like the picture and only had 2 slices of meat. The grill cheese was lacking enough cheese. I would give it another try hoping it will improve. Liked the varied menu selections.
INCREDIBLE. I was feeling very homesick yesterday but their shrimp poboy cured me. The roll was perfectly moist and flaky. Exactly the way a good French loaf should be. I added pickles to mine and it came with pickled onions on the side. WOW. Y’all I was blown away. Kudos to the chef/owner. She has made this my new favorite spot and home away from home. The bartender Becky makes a hell of a latte as well as being adorably British and hospitable. The space is very well kept, clean and stylish. Can’t wait to come back over and over!
Quiche and avocado toast. Really good! Friendly and attentive service. Loved it.
One of our top go-to places. Whether it’s brunch, dinner or lunch, you can’t go wrong. The cocktails are delish, the food is fresh and the menu is exciting.
Best lobster roll I’ve ever had!
I don’t usually write reviews but I had a few delicious cocktails here and had to share some thoughts on the Po’ boy. I’ve had many in my lifetime but never like this. Other po’ boys are heavy and try to fight you but this one...it’s like it wants to fly into your mouth.
Such a lovely experience. We had martinis, deviled eggs and the panzanella. Everything was fabulous, especially with Kirsten taking care of us!
I was pumped to go here after reading others’ reviews. Totally underwhelming and very overpriced. Very tiny seating area. I think there are 11 chairs. Very tight quarters. Menu has some innovative descriptions and appetizers, but $13 for a SINGLE meatball and a couple pieces of toast? REALLY? The pics posted show the 3 things we ordered and their namesake cocktail. You wanna pay over $55 plus tip for that, go right ahead. That’s the last time I do it.
Atmosphere and food was pretty good, presentation excellent. Short stools for indoor seating are not so great. A was slow. Pretty sure our server just left after leaving the check but before we actually paid.
I love wood fired pizza! I thought Fiamma pizza was great, my dining partner was less enthused, but its not his style...very thin crust, etc. However, we definitely agreed that the eggplant/zucchini appetizer was phenomenal (get this!) and the tiramisu was luscious. I do wish they had some espresso on the menu-Coffee with dessert is my favorite!
Attended the Crawfish and gumbo event with my mother. We both had a great time and the food and drinks were pretty good. As well as the live music. There is an industrial chic vibe. Loved it
Great little (and I mean little, moderately sized bar and just a few inside tables, more seating outside during the spring/summer). Fantastic cocktails and small plates. I highly recommend this place!
Great burgers and fabulous chicken marsala wings! Love this place.
Breakfast was very good! The biscuits and gravy was fantastic. Also recommend the quail and waffles, ricotta fritters, and the sticky bun.
The lamb meatballs and quail were really well flavored. The sauces used in them head a good after kick. Cocktails were very tasteful. Great for a low cost, high quality meal to share with a date
Delicious eclectic food. Cool atmosphere. Had a wonderful breakfast. Cant wait to try lunch.
Stopped in for lunch. Fantastic! Great food and service. Best steak and eggs I have had in Raleigh.
Food was good, service wasnt there though. Everything took longer to get (drinks, take order...) Than it seemed it should have. Several of the items (lamb meatballs) were incredible small portions...5 marble size balls...for the price, it was good but not sure it will be a repeat.
Great atmosphere and menu, and the staff is friendly. The ricotta fritters are amazing! Only thing that could have improved my experience was if they had wifi for their guests, as I was doing some work at the bar during my visit.
Hummingbird could NOT be any more charming and comfortable. We dont know what we love more, the darling indoor seating, or the amazing outdoor dock seating!
Very unique with good drinks and food. Love the atmosphere
Oh wow I love this place. The menu is fresh and full of some interesting healthy and delicious options. The wait staff is super nice and eclectic and the location is super convenient with really Pleasant outdoor seating. My wife and I ate lunch there and had a great time and really enjoyed both the food and the ambiance.
Your on.your own as far as seating if its cold out as most seating is out side hard to.order if your not at the counter the staff is a mystery and we sat for 11 min. Before giving up and leaving we will try again when the weather is BETTER and seating is better
Really neat concept! The food we had was fantastic, as were the cocktails. The food is mostly tapas style, so smaller portions. My favorite item we had was the roasted oysters, the flavor was outstanding.
Excellent food, creative cocktails. I had the steak and fries with the aioli. It was amazing. I would also recommend the deviled eggs.
We went here late one night. My sister doesnt drink, so the bartender made her a delicious hot toddy sans alcohol. I had a whiskey-based drink that was okay. We were sorry to miss the food, but had some Japanese popcorn, which was just okay. Will definitely go back and try the food some time!
