Oh my god, such a cool store with awesome staff. We spent so much money here, not because anything is expensive, but because we just could not stop finding things we loved and needed to add to our collection! Also, bring quarters so you can play the awesome, vintage pinball machines in the back!!!

I loved this place! I was visiting from out of town on my way to Acadia and absolutely did not expect to stumble upon a place that would know who Rowsdower was. 😂😂😂 Im so glad I stopped in! They have a wide selection of comics but also a ton of other stuff, including pinball machines, which my partner really enjoyed! The staff was super kind and helpful, too.

Really awesome comic shop with a fantastic selection of modern comics and vintage collectibles. Top it off with working pinball machines in the back and you have one of the coolest shops Ive been to in recent memory. Definitely worth a stop (or several)!

This is a great place in my opinion. They have a good selection (of both comics and other stuff), good decor (especially the pinball machines in the back), and the staff has always treated me well.

Absolutely love this comics store which offers so much more than comic books. Great pop culture destination that includes locally designed t-shirts, collectibles, unique pins, comic books and a back room filled with active cabinet video games & pinball machines. Staff was fun & helpful. Located on a trendy block near art museums and coffee shops. But, this is not a passing fad trendy. This is the real deal. Very highly recommended!!!

This review simply covers my online shopping experience. Ive never been to Maine or this store and I live on the other side of the country, but I bought an action figure from these guys. Thats nothing unusual for me, but the customer service and presentation surprised me so much I wanted to write an accolade. My purchase shipped very quickly and was packaged cleanly and professionally. Shipping was updated through email with status updates (shipped, coming soon, out for delivery, etc). When it comes to packaging and shipping, Im usually a pragmatist with a whatever works mentality; as long as it gets to me in one piece, I dont care that much. That said, I was surprised to see my second-hand item had been repackaged in the stores custom card and bagging which was very classy looking. In addition, the hand-written thank you note was a nice touch. First impressions only take moments, but mine was that these guys actually care about their product, their customers, and their image. This is not some eBay-flea market-flip operation that I can tell. Its remarkable what the little touches can do to change an experience and Im surprised to find I actually cared but I do. Thanks for a great experience, guys!

This place was dope! The guy who worked there helped me so much. As someone who is just now getting into comics, I know very little and he was able to give me a lot of suggestions that were very helpful. The place was also extremely organized but had this authentic eclectic look to it. This is hands down the best comic shop that I’ve ever been to.

The comic store is a blast from the past with fully functional arcade games and pinball machines! It is fun to look around and, for a comic store, is massive. I would love to come back some time.

The last time I bought a few back issues here, I wasn’t impressed when the guy looked up the value of the books and charged me more than the marked price without saying anything. It felt a little underhanded. I didn’t say anything and I still bought them. It would have been wiser to allow me to get a deal, so I would keep coming back. I’ve been collecting for 30 years and I spend a fair amount on comic books every month. Otherwise the store has been great, but experiences like this stay with a customer and this isn’t the word of mouth you want. If I’d been able to get a good deal, this review would be like free advertising, but now it’s not, all because the store didn’t want to lose $10-$20.

I like this place for the pinball mainly. Although the collection of new and old comics is astounding. They also have a huge array of toys and figures from comic-related shows and movies.

Fantastic place, great atmosphere, and welcoming staff. I highly recommend coming here to look for some nice comics, cool shirts, and a good time.

This place is awesome. You can poke around there for a good hour or two and probably find something you overlooked. The prices arent unreasonable either. Was the only place Ive been to in Portland that didnt feel overpriced. Also theyre pretty active about the covid prevention. Worth checking out Ill definitely be back.

We come down from New Brunswick, Canada every November and always have an awesome time at this cool shop. We always chat with Tristan, one of the owners, and hes always super friendly and always in a good mood. He also is willing to give good deals and the products are great for collectors at a good price.Theres Pinball and arcade machines in the back and theyre one of my favourite parts of the store. Cant wait to get back, chat with the owners and play some Nightmare on Elm Street pinball again soon!

This place was great. It reminded me of a mom and pop Newbury Comics with some pinball in the back room and vintage toys and video games. Definitely worth checking out!

The t-shirts that you wont find anywhere else or among the most unique souvenirs youll find in Portland.There arent many comic book stores that I dont like but coast city is among the most fun to visit.

Choc full of awesome stuff

This is a great place to browse, with hopes of finding a rare comic or limited edition toy from yesteryear. While the is a large variety, stock is often limited. The pinball and arcade games in the back run well and make for a good distraction.One of the few downsides of the stores eclectic selection is that the aisles can sometimes feel cramped and disorganized, especially after a group of people have perused the collections. Overall, its a good place to spend and hour or so if youre digging around for something hard to find.

Employed and owned by people who love comics and are always happy to help. They always have a great selection. Plus while Ill buying Wednesdays best, I can snag a skateboard deck, some pins and magnets (made in the shop), and a Moxie. They have signings frequently and even host a podcast and write their own magazine. I cant say enough good about Coast City/Monster Emporium

I love the place. Always good music playing, and incredible selections of comics, collectables, and merchandise. They do sell vinyls and their selection is a bit lacking, but its not their main focus so its no worry. Love the pinball machines in the back. I cannot recommend it enough.

A perfectly eclectic feel without being difficult to browse. While the space isnt huge, and the back room is dedicated to arcade machines and pinball, there is a lot of stock available from superhero comics to indies. They also have a wide range of funko figurines if you collect them.

I cant comment much about the comics (theres a big collection, along with lots of collectors toys) as I headed straight for the vintage pinball and arcade games at the back -- Ghostbusters, Tales from the crypt, Streetfighter -- burn through those quarters!

Fair pricing, great staff, A+ atmosphere.Ive been going to Coast City Comics as my main comic distributor for nearly a decade. Their building might have changed a handful of times, but theyve always had great atmosphere, vast collection, and friendly staff. Their dollar comics can have some great finds, and finding titles you wanna read is always a breeze. Would recommend to all fellow nerds looking for retro arcade games, collectables, manga, t-shirts and comics.

Absolutely the best comic shop in town. The guys who work here are knowledge, geeky, and incredibly friendly. Theyll take the time to have conversations about anything from books and movies to action figures and video games. Most importantly, they have the largest selection of pinball games in town. At last count they were up to 5 and looking to get more. Stop by Coast City once and youll become an immediate fan. Seriously.

If go there looking for pop figures you will be extremely happy they have some really rare ones at great prices. But.. the store is not that nice looking or well organized. Other than that it was great.

The guy working there was super nice & helpful, and the selection was pretty good! Bought the Doctor Solar: Volume One, Battling Boy & Deadly Class as well as an Adventure Time title card artbook! In love with Portland & this place just made it that much better.

I had seen on their instagram that they had White Knight signed by the writer so i reached to them asking if theybhad any online so it can be shipped to me. They were so awesome to reach to me and add those comics on their website too. And i wanted a specific comic cover and i emailed them to choose which one i wanted and they did it too. I just got my comic today and i am extremely happy. It was packed with care too. Such amazing services. Unlike another other.

Awesome staff and selections. I would describe this as a much less corporate version of Newbury Comics or how Newbury used to be decades ago. Tons of comic books, old video games, and media-centered stuff and even some old school arcade games/pinball machines in the back. Definitely a highly recommended quick stop visit if youre visiting the area.
