Huge eccentric and esoteric selections with an emphasis on local zines and artists, yet I still found some Batman books I’d been looking for! The woman there was extremely helpful in telling me about a lot of the indie books there. A lot of fun looking around here and spending lots of money!

I felt at home in this lovely shop. Situated in an Old China Town, the t-shirts in this place are interesting, not over done to get attention, and affordable. $20 is the medium. There are other fun things like stickers, decals, mugs, books, etc. The small gallery featured the cutest cat paintings and seem like a place for artists to gather a following. Will def go back when we visit.Staff is helpful and friendly.

Checked out Floating World Comics to see what they offered for horror comics. I was greeted within seconds, listened to what I was interested in and was given many quality comics. I went in not knowing much in this field of interest but left knowing all I wanted to know. I thank the person who helped me by not selling me but educating me. I am now a lifelong fan of this business.

Just got an online order from Floating World today. Was package well and had many hand written notes stressing not bend my comic. Greatly miss walking into the store. Beautiful variety of different comics, prints, and toys. Always could find something new to be inspired by in there. Very nice staff, who seems passionate about comics. Hopefully we can reopen one day and they can do more cool projects for comic book creators and artist. As they contribute from what I can see locally and nationally.

People working here are people I would want to be friends with. Theres also quite a bit more than indie stuff (some of us still love Spider-Man! LOL) Not many back issues but when comics come off the new shelves, quite a lot of them end up selling for just a buck! Theres no reason not to stop in and spend a few bucks to try out some new (to you) comics! To sum it up: Good people, good comics, great variety & great prices!

I’m an avid comic book reader from Denver (Home of Mile Hi comics) and was super impressed with this place. The guy running the desk was super knowledgeable and friendly, and the place had this awesome punk vibe to it. There were some random old books and unique items along with current marvel/dc stuff. My lady who doesn’t even like comics said this place was really cool and she could see getting into comics because of how cool it was. Like everything in Portland, they’re just keeping it real here. Thanks guys, a must see if you’re around here!!

Call it a coincidence, but right after I and my partner entered the store, the shopkeeper wiped down the door handles. Customers came in after me, and I saw him do no such thing for them. As a (non-Chinese) East Asian-American who has not been in Asia in a decade, I felt repelled by such behavior. Of course, it is easy to call it mere coincidence, that I am reading into something that did not happen. If you don’t wish to take my word, don’t. But I not only felt uncomfortable in such an environment, but also found it ironic that a store with a well-curated section dedicated to Japanese comics would stoop to such typecasting - and inaccurately to boot.

Ultimate comic book store - Always in awe of the selection - Impossible to leave empty handed. Ive been going here for years but never thought to leave a review. I recommend Floating World to new friends and those interesting in finding new comics and zines who couldnt make a zine event, like PZS or Short Run. Their cutting edge comics, zines, and printed media have turned me on to a lot of new artists over the years and theyve expanded to selling other fun items. The employees are incredibly kind and knowledgeable. The owner is a really cool person, Im a little too shy to say hi but Ive heard the best things from artists who work with him. Yah artists, Floating World publishes media.

Such a shame I had a bad experience here because they have a great selection of books. I was in the shop for over 30 minutes when one of the employees decided they would ask me to hand over my purse to them because they dont allow bags in the store. Traveling from another state, Im not going to hand over my bag to someone I dont know. Also, I have been in the store for a while, so for him to all of sudden ask as I was looking at books to buy was really unprofessional. Also for the record I am nicely dressed too and I was in plain sight of the counter the whole time too. So it was super odd. I was there to spend money so Im really frustrated. 2 stars for their book selection of local and independent comics. If security is such an issue then they need to hire door security then. Cant recommend.

I dont love comic book stores generally. They cater to a type of nerd that just isnt me... This place, however, is totally rad. Weird obscure stuff full of talent and hard work abounds. Dont go in if youre just curious about the store. We went in and were browsing and each time a customer came in and looked around then left, the people working in the store insulted them very loudly. It made us really uncomfortable because we knew as soon as WE left theyd start insulting us.They get two stars because I doubt that they were the owners, just workers and the store was one of the best organized comic stores Ive ever seen. Lots of local comics, clearly lighted and lots of space.

An interesting collection of comics. Lots of smaller brand stuff, and much more random collected editions than actual single issues. There were also many regular books, CDs, and records sold here. It felt like the store was teetering on having a little bit of everything but not enough of anything. The cashier was SUPER great, though, so definitely high marks for that (she was super friendly and gave me a good discount). Overall, I still definitely recommend this place, just dont go in expecting your typical comic book shop.
