The review is a little bit overdue... hope Public Domain will reopen soon!I had a good cup of soy latte and vegan blueberry muffin (from Shoefly). Service was very friendly and I loved the bright color and decor of the shop that emits a sense of warmth on a chilly, raining September morning.

Really great coffee, with a good vibe. Has a nice couch and some tables, some higher tables and some low ones. The service is great, theyre extremely friendly and welcoming and have good attention if needed.Got fantastic brewed black coffee (+ free refills) and gluten free, vegan, and normal pastures. Got some rotating speciality drinks, had one with a house made syrup that was fantastic.

It is difficult to dislike a coffee shop that serves “Prometheus Blend” for its espresso. The relaxing vibe, house-made syrups, and precision espresso elevates Public Domain to a standout cafe’ in a city where it would be easy to get lost in the local coffee scene. The focus on coffee as an experience makes this a unique shop anyone to try!

After a day of travel, Im so glad I stopped in at Public Domain on my way to my hotel. A friendly, helpful guy steered me to an amazing sun-dried tomato and cheese croissant that was deeeelectable. The barista set me up with a rich, deeply flavorful cafe mocha with surprising layers of flavor. Next level coffee! Yummy!

Oh man, the first sip of their coffee and I knew I was in a good place.Do you know that sadness near the end of a cup? You’re maybe 75% through it, it’s starting to get luke-warm instead of hot and you have to make a choice - drink it all now or risk it getting cold. And it’s so good that you don’t want to finish it, because then it’s over, but it’s zenith has passed and you just need to get on and enjoy what’s left. There is an answer; buy another one you fool.I had an 11 night stay in Portland and I did get around a fair few coffee places, this was easily the best and the only one I wanted to go back to. I even bought some beans to take back home with me.Food is also great, not much choice but super tasty.

The service here is absolutely great. The two guys are fun and easy to talk to. They have unlimited refills on their house drip coffee which is a really nice perk. Their chai tea was incredible. Its not an overly sweet chai as most lattes are, and it was very enjoyable. They offer vegan pastries which is great for those seeking tasty options. The food menu does contain a vegetarian burrito, which didnt take long to heat up. The ambiance is great to get some work done on a laptop as well. I only wish they were open later, but till then, I shall enjoy my early afternoons here.

We went here on a Sunday afternoon and it was one of the worst experiences Ive had at a coffee shop. We were ignored for the first two minutes while the barista cleaned dishes, then when we ordered and told her we had our own 16oz tumbler she rolled her eyes and acted like it was a huge inconvenience. We asked for the coffee that came with the refills which she also ignored. When we went to get our refill she said that shed already given us a lot and she would fill it again halfway once. What was the point of paying for, or offering refills if they dont honor them?Im giving 2 stars instead of one only because they roast their own beans. Id love to support more local businesses but terrible customer service will keep me far away from this one.

Their slogan says it all.Coffee should be an experience, not a routine. And at PD it is not a routine, if I lived in Portland, I would make my daily coffee EXPERIENCE a ROUTINE by going here every day. What an excellent spot for a quick Joe or a nice warming cup of tea. Their chia tea is exceptional and the cute designs made by the staff will have you smiling each sip. Great small fresh bites to eat and a very relaxing environment. I believe if your having writers block this would be your spot or if you feel like being a regular this might be the spot for you. House regular coffee was bitter, overly concentrated, and obviously outside the optimal drinking window. Ive had better coffee in a hotel lobby. Seem like they just throw in a huge scoopful of pre-ground beans and dont pay attention to the roasting date. Why should I come to your coffee shop to get that? And why is it so difficult for supposed high end coffee shops to figure out? You roast the beans on this date. You wait 3 days then begin serving it. That will last around a week and then its done. Figure out how much coffee you need and never serve past-due coffee. Its not super complicated!

This coffee shop was located across the street from the Marriott Downtown City Center Hotel, so it was an easy place to get to for doing some work. Ordered the small latte, and it came promptly with the aesthetic latte art you typically see the latte was smooth and tasty. They give you free refills for the drip coffee which my colleague got. The WiFi was a bit slow and there was a dearth of outlets but still a good place to get work done. They have bags of coffee for sale and some food, though I didn’t try it. The barista was very friendly and the place had chill vibes where it’s clear they enjoy good coffee but aren’t pretentious about it. Overall a good place to grab some coffee and grind away on the laptop.

Delicious coffee, perhaps a bit spendy, at a hip downtown location. Much better than the Starbucks at Pioneer Square, which this location is around the corner from... So come here instead! Also they have some light breakfast options which I have not tried. The coffee to go is much cheaper than the mugs for staying, inexplicably, although I guess they justify that by the free refill. We visited Public Domain during our last visit to Portland a few years ago and remembered it being exceptional. The memory was much better than this experience. Stuffy, played out, and self aggrandizing, public domain is your run of the mill, pintrist inspired designed, cookie cuter hipster coffee shop. The short line took ages to pass and the staff was nothing but apathetic about creating the experience they boast. For the care an attention they claim to have for the quality of their products, the espresso was gritty and tasted of gristle, and the chai was under spiced and over prepared. 10/10 would not recommend
