Looking for a sweet treat after a nearby meal and this place had the perfect solution. Sadly it was so tasty I ate it before I took a picture but trust me if you like an exceptionally good cannoli, check this place out.

Very tasty Gelato and they had about 3 vegan options, too! I wasnt in the mood for sorbet, so I chose the Raffaello. It was an almond and coconut flavor and that hit the spot for something sweet after dinner. Highly recommend. For both my partner and I, two cones were $9 total.

Gorgeous Gelato is your one stop shop for amazing gelato in Portland, Maine. They only have this location but I also found out that they have a trailer near Portland Head Lights that also sells their Gelato as well. Their main shop is small but cute with some indoor and outdoor seating. Service is counter service and was awesome because they let us try samples of their Gelato! Most all ice cream places have been refusing samples because of Covid but not here! The gelato was heavenly and so smooth and creamy. We felt as though we could eat it all day, every day haha. There are plenty of ice cream shops in Portland but not many gelato shops and from the many weve tried, this might just be our favorite. Try them out!My wife and I got a large waffle cone with two different scoops. My cone had Panna Cotta Caramel and Bacio. Man, were these good! The Panna Cotta Caramel was SO smooth (all of them were but this one especially). The rich, creamy flavor was so unique and delightful and with the right amount of caramel swirl too. Each flavor complemented the other and it was just too good. The Bacio is a chocolate hazelnut gelato, which some people might compare to Nutella but tastes way better. The chocolate is more of a darker chocolate than a milk chocolate base and there are small bits of hazelnut pieces mixed in. Im not sure if they also use hazelnut butter or something in the base as well but it was also a delicious gelato.My wife had Sea Salt Caramel Chocolate and Boston Creme. The Boston cream was just like eating a Boston Cream Pie and the Sea Salt Caramel was rich with lots of caramel and little mini chocolate chips throughout. I dont have much to say about hers as I only tried a bite or two of each flavor but I can say that I loved each flavor and everything that we had from Gorgeous Gelato!On a side note, my wife and I wanted to eat outside and it had just rained and there was water all over the tables. The owner saw that we were looking to sit outside and came running out with a towel to clean the tables for us so we could sit without getting our pants wet. That was very nice of them especially since we didnt have to ask. Thats customer service.This place also serves cannolis, pints to go, whoopie pies, cakes, cookies, ice cream cannolis and more! With how amazing the gelato was I can only imagine how awesome everything else was. Definitely a must try place if you’re out in Portland, Maine. The lines can be long but it goes by quickly. The staff was extremely kind to me and there are so many awesome options to choose from. I had such a hard time deciding because every flavor looked so good! I always love getting the split scoop from here and the gelato melts in your mouth. Such a great gelato place to visit in the hot summers in Maine

Great tasting gelato in Portland! I ordered a scoop of “Gorgeous” (which I believe is vanilla, caramel and chocolate mixed together) and it tasted delicious - not too sweet! My bf got an affogato with two scoops of dark chocolate and hazelnut. Great spot for dessert or a pick me up 👍

Gorgeous Gelato is definitely some of the best gelato Ive had. Its super smooth, well balanced, and definitely delicious! Ive been to Italy and this gelato definitely lives up to the same standards. If you are in or around Portland I highly recommend grabbing some - you wont regret it!

Very interesting gelato panini!

Went here everyday of vacation. The flavors are really good; however, they are extremely heavy and filling. I tried the Oreo which was decent, too sweet. Boston cream and tiramisu were delicious.

Delicious gelato. A good selection without being overwhelming. The gorgeous flavor was a disappointment compared to the hazelnut, pistachio, and orange chocolate, all of which were amazing.

I wish there was a 6-star option. This place is incredible. We havent enjoyed gelato this much since we were in Italy in 2017. We went there a week ago on our way to Bar Harbor and again today on the way back home. We had pleasant conversations with the owner and his employee, both from Italy and both really friendly. What a wonderful experience!

Was in the mood for a sweet treat and Gorgeous Gelato did not disappoint. I tried the gorgeous flavor which is vanilla with chocolate shavings and caramel. I also got a schmear of oreo on top. It was absolutely delicious. I also got a cannoli which was delicious but not very sweet. But Ive never been to Italy so that might be more traditional and Im used to American versions. Still delicious overall

They all looked so yummy! I could not decide which one to go with but went with the gorgeous gelato flavor and it did not disappoint!

Staff is somewhat rude. Not very friendly atmosphere. Gelato was good, maybe alright. But the staff was definitely not too great. They seemed to not care much and yelled when someone I was with couldnt hear them the first time. Also didnt give us a farewell when we were the only ones there and we said a farewell to them loudly, which isnt bad per se, but it just adds to the prior staff issues of not being too friendly.

Best gelato in town, and pretty close to gelato youd get in Italy. Their flavors change quite often, so make sure you dont get too attached to any of them. My favorite flavors were the dark chocolate orange, and the chocolate mint. Absolutely delicious and cant wait to go back next time Im in town.

Good gelato but nothing amazing. Service at a time when they werent super busy left a lot to be desired. This is the first gelato shop Ive visited that only lets you taste one sample no matter how many flavors are in the size of cup or cone you are purchasing. Good for being across the street from my hotel, but wouldnt go out of my way to come here.

The gelato itself is okay. But only one sample per person LOL. What stingy street are you living on? Gotta say this is a first despite visiting other ice cream places in other states.It’s a private business so they can do whatever. Writing this review to warn others. Very nice inside. Delicious and authentic gelato and Italian coffee...your getting the real deal!! A couple really cute outdoor tables too. I appreciate the facts that they have non dairy alternatives, and that theyre open until 9:30. It enabled us to still get coffee and dessert after a late dinner, while all other coffee places were closed!

The gelato was the BEST gelato I have ever had in the states. I got it from a food truck at Portland Head Light and the girl was so sweet. Highly recommend stopping by the food truck.

We wanted to come right after dinner, but there was a thunderstorm. We waited nearby for half an hour, and it was totally worth it. The pistachio and orange chocolate flavors were amazing.

I walked in based on Yelp reviews. My gelato however was disappointing. They have very basic flavors and the taste was just OK. It was an average gelato place. I would try different flavor if I’d go back. They had plenty of tables available.

Nice euro-style Gelato shop in the heart of Portlands downtown. Reasonably priced and very clean. Im a Lime sorbet fan.

Do not get the gelato on a cone. The server handed it to me, when I went to take a bite it fell off the cone onto my pants and hit the floor. They never apologized or helped me clean it up. I did it myself, They then said I had to pay for it and wouldn’t replace. I paid because I feel for small business but I had to go back to my hotel and change without any acknowledgement that they didn’t scoop it correctly (it shouldn’t just fall off) Very POOR service. I’m honestly shocked they are in business. Oh well calories saved and lesson learned.

I was trying to remember what I got, I know it was gelato, but I cannot remember which flavor! Very telling.

The quality of the gelato and the service was good, but the variety of flavors wasnt as good. I had the house flavor Gorgeous an felt the dark chocolate chips were to many that it was overpowering. I also didnt see a vanilla flavor which I was looking for. To me trying the vanilla gelato tells me how good the others can be and I love a good vanilla milkshake.

THIS IS IT!I always order the affogado, a substantial scoop of delicious Gelato with a shot of Lavazza expresso... yuuuuumm!Try it with the chocolate or orange chocolate Gelato, motto delizioso.The owner and wife are from Italy, they are so nice, they make me feel like Im in the Italian neighborhoods of the Bronx and NYC... funny, I always wind up speaking some Italian, thats how comfortable I feel there.Small place, but Im so glad to have them in Portland, watch out Gelato Fiasco, your competition is FIERCE! 😁🍨🍧🍦🧁😋

Rudest customer service I have experienced in a while, and from one of the owners whom I was supportive of since 2014. Very sad to see an old peer behaving this way, after seeing the beginning, sending my own costumers, coming while pregnant - - through multiple stages for us both. I do not believe the heart of the woman who brought this place to life would appreciate knowing her husband is turning away long time customers with arrogant condescending airs and callous reluctance. Train your help not to be superficial and rude by setting a higher standard beginning with yourself. Thank you, and best wishes for your future.

Gorgeous Gelato is amazing. The gelato is authentic and delicious. The owners are straight out of Italy and very nice. They offer espresso by itself or with whisky, which is wayyyy better. You have to stop in here.

Smooth, creamy, melt in your mouth goodness

Took my family here after dinner and it was definitely worth it. The gelato is so rich and reminded me of my favorite gelateria in Italy. I tried their cannolis and signature Gorgeous flavor and I was in heaven! They also have other desserts like brownies and sorbets.

The best Gelato Ive had since first having it in Italy years ago. Stumbled across this place when we came to Portland on vacation, and now that we live in Maine we make it a point to stop by every time we are downtown. Absolutely lovely people who work here, the cannolis are superb, service is quick and it is always a joy to come here.

Outstanding gelato the way it should be!

Its as close to Italy as youre gonna get! The selection is very good, the portions are slightly bigger than you would get in Italy (which is PERFECT!) and the tastes are simply amazing. Remember its not about stuffing yourself but about having a fantastic treat that you wont forget for quite some time! Loads of deep and rich flavors, great aromas, and very high quality made from great ingredients. Rest assured you will get plenty to enjoy. Oh, their coffees are very good too.This is my third time here and I shall continue to visit and support this store. Love it!

Was absolutely floored/dead when I saw all the Friday vegan options. Service was kind and patient as we tried a handful of flavors each. I first tried the vegan pistachio, which was a little too mild for me (too vanilla and not nutty enough). I ended up getting the vegan dark chocolate and vegan blueberry in a small cup, which was $4.25. The dark chocolate is VERY rich and just the right amount of sweet. I highly recommend the blueberry--it tasted so fresh and was also just the right sweetness. If I came back, I would get a cup of all blueberry. I am so sad that I dont live in the area so I could come here more often!

Let me start by saying, we didn’t even get to try the gelato. My kids have allergies to nuts and dairy and we thought a place that has at least 7 VEGAN gelato flavors would be better about cross contamination.We waited patiently behind 2 other groups, excited to get gelato before dinner. When we got to the front and looked at the flavors, our kids were so excited. My daughter wanted the chocolate and my son wanted blood orange with chocolate. When we asked about the vegan gelato and said that our kids have allergies, the lady behind the counter asked if we had our epipens. My wife and I looked at each other and immediately got red flags. She then told us that she mixes the flavors and there’s cross contamination. We said that were fine with the gelato being made on the same equipment, but she said that if someone asks for 2 flavors, she uses the same scoop and mixes the flavors. She didn’t even hesitate to tell us better get your epipens ready if you plan on getting anything. She then told us that she had packed gelato in the case and we could buy one of those.We said no thank you.I would urge the owners to learn about cross contamination in the gelato case. You already have a spoon in each gelato, you can do better.

They supposedly close at 9:30. My husband and I stopped in after dinner around 9:15 but were turned away because the server “ran out of time”. It’s not a sit down place - we could have been in and out in less than 5 minutes. Disappointed in the lack of customer service and focus on “watching the clock”.
