Installers are nice, sales folks will push crazy prices, particularly for any custom installs or gear youve brought in. Other shops are in town are much more reasonable. Go with an independent shop, youll find better pricing and customer service.

BIG shout out to Travis & Matthew! Those guys have helped me out on numerous occasions and are always fast and friendly. I’m staying true to this Car Toys 💯.

Car toys did an excellent job from start to finish. They helped me pick the sound set up that fit the music I like to listen to and showed the pros and cons of each speaker upgrade or the effect of no amp and with amp. They showed me great customer support, were friendly and open to any question I had. I would definitely recommend them for any car audio upgrades (they have sound booths so you can really isolate what you are looking for).

An honest and professional stereo shop! Selected a set of front & rear speakers, subwoofer and amplifier for install, during install my installer (Justin, the best!) called to let me know the weak speaker sound was not from old speakers, rather not enough power to the speakers (which the amplifier would correct).Sales staff are professional and knowledgeable, no hassle or pressure, installer did a very clean install and knew what he was doing! Great communication from all departments at sale, installation and follow-up.Definitely look forward to doing business with Cartoys in the future!

09/2021: Came in this weekend to check out some subwoofers and my man TRAVIS gave a few samples. In the end they were busy for the weekend but after I mentioned I could leave my car for the night they made things work out and I had my bass installed same day!Great customer service, Travis did a wonderful job getting my car back to me as soon as possible. I’ve come to this store for my pioneer touch screen and audio. Have always had a great time. Will come again for more noise soon.

Amazing Service!! Ask for Travis!I came in with an idea for a backup camera/dash cam and a few other items in mind and had the privilege of working with Travis on the project. He guided me through many of the potential options and helped me come to a much better solution for what I was seeking than I had originally planned. Best Car Audio Shop In Town!Great customer service, very knowledgable staff, and amazing products. I highly recommend getting the warranties on everything you buy here because their warranty policy is over the top amazing. Installation is guaranteed for life and when you get the warranty through Car Toys they take all the hassle out of the exchange process (no need to register products online, just a one stop fix at the store). I worked with Travis on my purchases and he was able to fix any and every concern I had. Ive been to other shops in the past where their patience runs really low when you start asking about all the fine print details but Travis was always happy to help and willing to answer all of my many questions with a great attitude and thorough explanations. We returned to car toys to have another remote start installed on a second vehicle. Even though they didn’t have the exact model we wanted, they were very accommodating and able to get us an upgraded model at a reasonable price. They went above and beyond to get our new remote start system installed the same day and get us a great value for the system we purchased. Once the system was installed the car was found to be in perfect condition as it was when we dropped it off. They also made sure to let me know how much I was appreciated as a first responder. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend Car Toys to anyone with a need for a remote start system or other product they carry!

Brought in my Honda CRZ this week for a stereo upgrade and Travis was awesometo work with. He was attentive, honest, and worked with me to get the setup I wanted at a fair price, even working in discounts on certain products to replace others that were out of stock. It was important to me that I got my install done the same day, and Travis went the extra mile to source parts from neighboring stores to make it happen.After the install I noticed that one of the things I had requested had not been done, when I called Travis he immediately apologize for the oversight and offered to take care of me as soon as I can come in next. This is how customer service should look like, and I was happy to see this level of “mom and pop “service at a large chain franchise. Remember when you have supplied a price quote and dont charge more than that even if the customer does not bring it up. I let it go. Texted price quote was $119.99. Was charged 159.00. On the other hand, fit my installation in immediately. Expertly and quickly done. Thanks for that. Overall good guys.

I came into the Halsey store to have 4 Rockford Fosgate door speakers installed in my Girlfriends Honda CRV. I had considered installing them myself, so I did a YouTube search on how it is done. I decided, however, to have them professionally installed. When I came in, I asked to have ALL of the original packaging returned to me, and the girl at the counter seemed to have made a note of it on the sheet I signed. Before leaving, I spoke to the installer about the job, specifically citing the issue with the factory baskets and speaker depth. He said that there would be an additional charge, which I agreed to. I left a $275 deposit and went on my way. I eventually got a call from the installer saying that it would be $50 to cut the baskets, or $100 to cut the spacers. Because we had already talked about the process, I opted for the spacers instead of the basket cutting. When I came to pick up the car, I was asked for yet another $100. When I asked the girl what it was for, she seemed to have no idea. She looked like she tried to find someone to ask, but came back quickly with...to cut the baskets. I was a little confused at this statement, but I was tired and wanted to get home. When I got around to opening the factory packaging to retrieve my grilles, I found something disturbing. First, the original packaging that I asked to have returned to me was missing most of the contents. Secondly, the speaker baskets that were cut were fully intact. When I made contact with the manager, he did not make things any better. He started by saying that the installer probably threw away the grilles... Well, that is a bunch of baloney. I asked to have ALL of the original packaging be returned, but only some items were. I asked him, if he threw away the grilles, why not the rest of the packaging? He didnt have a word to say. As far as the overcharge, he began to make the case that it was $100 extra each pair to complete the install. This was infuriating. I knew what the process was to install the speakers, I had gone to the website to confirm the prices of shop services, and I spoke to the installer TWICE about the additional cost/service. The manager attempted to get me to believe that it would cost $100 extra PER PAIR. Well, I can tell you from personal experience, it does not take 2 hours to cut 4 circles out of particle board. $75 to install a door speaker, but $100 to cut two wooden circles?! Insulting.So, to recap...I brought a car in to have 4 door speakers installed. I knew the process and estimated cost. The counter staff had absolutely no idea what services had been done to the car, so she overcharged me. I think the installer saw some cool grilles from a product that his location doesnt carry, so he stole them. When I made contact with the manager, he ran cover for him saying that maybe he threw them away. He then tried to get me to believe that it would cost more for wooden circles than for the install itself.After going back and forth over the phone a bit more than we should have, he eventually agreed to refund the $100 overcharge and offered me 4 substitute grilles, since the installer threw mine away....Car Toys has been my go-to for years, but I will NEVER use this location again. Although my issue has been corrected as well as possible, I am still sore that the installer stole the stuff I specifically asked to keep and the manager tried to get me to pay $200 for four 6.5 inch round wooden circles.Attachments area

This was my second time coming here. Ive been upgrading the speakers in my Civic, and I ended up adding a sub and amp today. Travis was a huge help again, completely understood what I wanted even though I know very little about car audio so I wasnt too sure what to ask for. Im not too good at writing these but they did an amazing, super clean job. Finished an hour earlier than the ETA, setup my financing really quickly and easily, and overall made me really happy! My car sounds amazing and Im only coming here for anything else Ill need from here on out.

We had the gnarly, unfortunate experience of having our car stolen in Portland! But less than 24-hours later we had the totally rad and fortunate experience of the Portland Police recovering the car in good shape and their recommendation to install a car alarm. We had the car towed to the Car Toys on NE Halsey Street where we lucked-out again and had the pleasure of dealing with Travis... a 10+ year tenured Expert of Car Alarms! Travis took such great care of us... Alarm installed, complete inside/outside detail on the car! Not only are we back on the road in life, but were Fort Knox on Wheels!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! All I wanted was a hot water extraction on my seats for my 2015 Highlander. Not only were the seats not cleaned but now I’m discovering big deep scratches in my door panels. So I paid more than expected to have my car in worse shape then when I had it “serviced.” If I had the time and money I would be suing these people. Never, ever, never taking my vehicles to another Car Toys ever again.

Travis helped me get a new navigation system installed in my Honda Element. The turnaround was super quick and the finished product looks & functions perfectly... almost feels like I have a new car! I recommend going in to see what this shop can do to improve the tech in your vehicle. I’ll definitely be back.

Prices are higher than any other place I looked but this store was close by and could get the job done within my timeframe. Store staff and installer did a good job, just about everyone was wearing a mask (per state guidelines), and I really like the Kenwood product I purchased. Dont know if Id shop here again because of very high prices but everything else was satisfactory.

Extremely Satisfied!I cant say enough good things about this location and its staff. I met Travis a few months back and since then he has helped me create a custom setup that is above and beyond what I had hoped for. He is extremely knowledgable, respectful, and really takes the time to make sure you are comfortable and happy with your new equipment. I never felt pressured into anything I wasnt sure about which is very important to me. When I had my new stereo installed, he even helped me set the EQ properly to get the most out of my sound system. Ive been to a few other car audio places in the past and the staff here is the most efficient, professional, and welcoming that I have encountered. Travis and I have cracked jokes, laughed, and had a great time during my multiple visits. Ive had a lot of fun in addition to learning a ton about future projects. Big purchases like custom systems can be a bit overwhelming but working with Travis and the rest of the staff has given me great peace of mind. I am very grateful for you guys.

I went to Car Toys for auto detailing inside and out. They were charging about the same as other companies, I decided to go there because they have been around for a long time. I figured if they weren’t good they wouldn’t have been in business that long.The cost was about $350.00. Not a small sum. When I picked it up I was in a hurry and didn’t really check it out and my husband drove it home. This was my old car that I gave to my granddaughter for graduation. She graduated with honors and scholarships for college. She worked very hard and deserved something nice. The car was only 5 years old and nice condition.The next day we went out and realized they hadn’t done a very good job. There was still some trash under the seat not to mention there was ash and food crumbs around the seats, and the floor and the cup holders were not cleaned. With the sun shinning we could see huge streaks, on all the windows. None of the windows were washed to the edges inside or out. On the wheels there was still dirt caked in the corners.We drove the car back down and showed them all the missed places. I think I could have done a better job if I had done it myself. The Manager and assistant manager looked at it and agreed that it wasn’t a good job. They said they were really embarrassed at the job that was done. We left the car there for a do over and figured now it will get done right. When we picked it up it did look a little better but as we drove home we could see that the windows were still streaked in many areas. Detailing meads attention to the details. The crud around the wheels came off with a little spit and a rag.I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please do not go there for car detailing.

I worked with Travis who was a nice guy and pretty helpful. I noticed that the price they have online is cheaper than what they have in store. They didnt have what I originally wanted so offered the t12 at what seemed to be a much better price than what they had in store, but it was actually a $100 more than online lol. I dont think they followed factory lines since my parking lights now stay on with my headlights and my factory alarm is still in (probably why they didnt do the factory approach). Pretty annoying since I have custome headlights. I had some issues with the alarm not turning off here and there so I need to go back, but the staff is pretty nice and Im sure they will help out if it continues.

This review is for interior detailing service only. My tech was overbooked on the day of my scheduled service. After four hours, I inquired on status of the vehicle. The vehicle had not been touched. Had to come back the following day. Very mediocre job was done. The rear view mirror was not even cleaned. I thought that would be an item on the interior detailing checklist. Apologies were made, but I will not be back. Bottom line, make sure you get a clear outline of the timing of your service and when it will be complete and do not expect a stellar job, even if they do waste half of your day.

I recently bought a rig as a toy and didnt want to take the time to install a stereo myself. So on a whim I ran down to Cartoys to see what I could get done same day. Wendy and Don were fantastic, easy to work with and finished the install in about half the estimated time. This is a great place to go to find a system unlike their competitors that try to push as system on you thats way out of your budget these guys listen to you and try to put together a system for your budget.you still need to spend some money in order to get a good system though

I have been going to gateway car toys for 10+ years, and todays experience is exactly why I keep coming back. I was met at the door by Ron, told him why I was there, and he immediately took care of me. Don went out to check in my car and then quickly got it in the bay to work on it. While I was in the store Travis answered every question I had. He is very knowledgeable. Once it was figured out what was wrong with my subs, the issue was fixed, but Travis was right there again letting me know about all the options I had to avoid the issue again. I will definitely be going back when Im ready. My drive home sounded amazing. Actually better then before the issue with my subs started. Great job guys!

STAY AWAY. I recently had my truck stereo stolen so I stopped in and got a quote to have a car alarm and stereo installed. Super nice helpful people in the store, I felt good about having them do the work. I ultimately decided I would have them install the car alarm and I would just purchase the stereo equipment from them and install it myself. So I went in today and ordered the car alarm and scheduled to have it installed. When I was there I purchased the $700 amp they had quoted me. When they brought it to the counter the box was a little tattered. I asked if the unit was new and was told it was a discontinued unit and it been there for awhile. It was represented as new but the box was open. Once I got it home I removed it from the box and styrofoam and I noticed that the holes where you screw it down were damaged. The unit had clearly been mounted/installed before. I immediately called them to complain and their response was just to bring it back and return it which I promptly did. When I asked how they could “mistakenly” sell used equipment the guy’s response was that they have 15 guys working in the store so it’s hard to keep track of what’s what. I find that pretty unbelievable. My issue is that had I had them install the full system as originally planned I never would have known they were installing used equipment in my truck and charging me new prices. Super shady and not at all what I was expecting from a store like this. Stay away, take your business elsewhere.

I’m only giving 3 stars even because Daniel the guy who did my interior detailing was sweet upon arrival. As you can see in just these few pictures I don’t know what I paid $175 for a job that wasn’t properly done. This is just the front part of my car! I’m very disappointed in this work. I can say that they were able to remove the dirt out of my carpets. Car smells a little better.

I bought stuff from this store all the time. This time I want to install an alarm and was given an estimate price of around $300.00 for labor. I went over to the store with the alarm unit, making sure it possible to install my alarm and rough price for the task. My son took the car over there and they want to charge me $600.00 to remove the old alarm and install customer provided alarm system. The store manager playing game and on the website, a new alarm plus installation is around $409.00. I called another Car Toy (Clackamas) store and they quoted me around $300.00 plus or minus for the same job. I got it installed there for the price I was quoted. I spend thousands of dollar in this particular store and this how I was treated. Im so disappointed in the management and I hope the store owner reading this.Store manager saying one price and technician quote another price. It bad business practice. I made it cleared my intention and brought the car alarm to the store prior to the appointment date and spoked with the technician prior to sending my son over there. I have never heard an alarm installation costing over $600+. Another Car Toys charged me $300 with the removal of the old alarm system. Sound like a scam. Just be aware you can be overcharge for easy task.

There was an issue with the settings in a component being reset after my cars power was disconnected after a repair, after the warranty was ended (not that it was broken, just a weird settings issue). The installation guy at the shop took like 30 minutes to research the issue and fix it for me free of charge. Thanks Car Toys!

Stopped in to this location yesterday to have a head unit installed that I bought online. There was a mixup with scheduling that delayed work on my vehicle by several hours. When I spoke to the manager, Travis, he bent over backwards to make the situation right. The head unit I bought ended up not fitting in the vehicle dash and he steeply discounted a unit they sold as well as the labor to install it. I could tell customer service was a top priority and I left happy! Thanks!

If you want to get ripped off by a place, go here. They will charge you for installing the radio, then installing the dash kit around it, and they will charge you to plug in an adapter, and charge you for anything else they can come up with. Do yourself a favor, go on Crutchfield, order yourself a radio and it will come with the dash kit, detailed instructions on the install, and you will save yourself $700 bucks.

My girlfriend and I dropped in to see about replacing factory speakers. I believe it was Travis we spoke with. I have spent years in car related sales, and the gentleman was a true professional. He asked what we wanted to look at and listened carefully to my girls very specific wish list for her audio. As he listened he still asked a few questions and paraphrased to make certain we were all on the same page. He had a very solid knowledge of his products and anything he didnt know he looked up to be sure he didnt mis-advise. When we got to actually listening to a few options he had zeroed in on the perfect model, and a few similar ones so we could see the difference in the types and manufacturers. Throughout the process he was friendly and personable, keeping on task but at no time did we feel anything was rushed or glossed over. When told of our budget he had several options for our new set up, and in the end helped us pick out something just right and keep us under budget. I cant wait to go back with my car for its new system😊.

Wendy and Justin were great! My car had been at the Happy Valley for 5 hours when I was told it was only going to take 3-4 hours max. When I called for an update they had no even touched my car yet and I was going to need to wait another 3 hours! I called the Halsey location Wendy was so helpful and was able to get me in right away. Justin was knowledgeable and efficient with the install he did for me. They had my car for a little over 2 hours and the professionalisms demonstrated was amazing, they made a sour situation much better.

Custom box made to subwoofer specs, wired in amp and dialed everything in. Super satisfied with the results and the service. Would recommend to anyone!

I went there to get my keyless entry lock fixed on my F250. They said with parts and labor it would take 1-1/2 hours to fix and run about $200+ to fix. I left it there about and 1/2 HR later the called and told me it was a few loose wires and charged me $55.00. They could have charged me the original quote and I would have not known the difference. I appreciate their honesty and integrity. They definitely earned my return business.

I had a car detailing appointment today at the gateway location, I just want to share my over all experience. From start to finish was a good visit, I want to thank Tony was the young man who worked on my car and got all my needs taken care of. He was very professional and communicated well. He wouldn’t take my Tip as a thank you, so the money was given to the shop manager. Thank you again tony. Will be coming back again in the future.

Had sporadic static noise from radio speakers while radio was turned off. Ryan at Car Toys said he could pull the fuse on the radio to see if that solved the problem. Since we rarely use the radio, we chose that option. Radio fuse was pulled at no charge.

This is a nice store with all sorts of options on upgrading car technology. I got my Bluetooth stereo installed about a year and a half ago and have loved it since, its been a crucial part of my drivingA mechanic I visited accidentally shorted it and couldnt help me regain its function. I went in and Travis was an absolute gentleman about it. Despite a busy store he singled me out and helped me immediately. Today we went in for a new system. We had some fantastic service and a quick install from Brad and his colleagues. I will definitely be coming back! Thinking about getting one of their security systems soon.

I can’t even express the amazing customer service that was provided at the gateway location during my recent purchase of a car play system. From the very first day when we spoke to Kevin, great guy was very helpful when picking out the product that I wanted and he also set up the install date. Then we met Jose the installer, great guy to, he made some very good recommendations for some speakers that I will most defiantly be purchasing later. Jose did a great job putting in the new system. Finally a shout out to Wendy, she closed the deal, super helpful with a great sense of humor. Was a bit confused to the new system and when we came back she quickly helped us get all the questions answered, even came out to car to show us. Overall I am very impressed with the gateway car toys, very clean, stocked and welcoming. I will be returning for more on a different vehicle knowing that the staff is going to take great care of me......

I had a Kenwood sub and jl audio Amp installed a 3 weeks later I blew up the Kenwood so I went back and they gave me a new one I was so happy but a week later I blew up another one so I didnt want to get Kenwood again so for a little more money I got jl audio thanks guys I love it

I walked in there knowing exactly what i wanted and needed but wanted to see what the salesman had to say. I ask for a specific sub enclosure and he said they dont have them. I showed him where they were. I asked what amp would work well with the enclosure and he tried selling me something with three times more the power need at double the cost. Obviously hes trying to be the sales guy so i thought id just get what i came in for and leave. When i asked for the one i came in for he said it was discontinued when its not. Proceeded to try and tell me that what i came in for is not an option. Also the end of the year sale includes free installation he tried to sell me on installation as well and not mention the free installation. When i mentioned it he said only on certain products which is also not true. I dont like being sold by salesman so i left. I will make my purchase elsewhere.

We knew what model of car audio system we wanted before we came in but Wendy was very helpful in helping us understand the features and options. Don installed the system and recommended an additional antennae to improve our Sirius radio reception. He did an outstanding job of installation so the antennae was not obtrusive. And all staff took the Covid distancing and mask requirements seriously. Great experience.

I had a car that I bought used and it smelled bad. I had been calling around everywhere and the prices were insane for a small suv. I took the car to Car toys and they did an AMAZING JOB! The customer service was fantastic! And the price was perfect!

The techs installed steering wheel controls that I expressly did not ask for and charged me $80 for it. You could make my experience better by refunding me.
