So my husband Rick took his boat to have the idle fixed and thats it. The Yamaha 40 horse stalled out on a troll what ever that means, I am not a boat person. So Cascade Marine took a motor that needed to have the idle fixed to running like total garbage. Ken should really really really really really be ashamed of himself, I really dont know that he really knows how to work on a motor. Ricks boat has been in the shop waiting on parts since Cascade Marine center worked on it. This company needs to be shut down. I was on the boat when my husband Rick took it out, he was happy until he started and ran the motor. I asked Rick who worked on this motor. Rick called Cascade Marine center and I think a Ken answered and doubted what my husband was saying. Rick put his phone on speaker so the motor could be heard. Cascade does not know how to work on outboard motors itthat is only obious .

The motor would stall when trolling, thats all I wanted him to fix I paid $500 for his inability to provide a service that he said he could. His words were ran good here I dont know what is wrong maybe the cdi is bad. I took my boat to another shop and there was another person there with the same story. I will never take my boat there even if he was the backyard mechanic. I think he should refund my money.

Absolutely horrible work and customer service. They do not complete the work and parts necessary to finish as job as agreed. When you call them they agree that their work is in error and agree to fix the problem. They promise to call you back and schedule an appointment, but they do not call back even though I called them repeatedly. Finally gave up and took my boat to Stevens Marine to fix my problems. Stevens Marine did not know who did the work and they where shocked that someone would actually mount a motor without sufficiently bolting the motor to the transom, failed to connect the wiring necessary to operate the gauges, and not connect the steering cables correctly. Stevens Marine corrected the issues in less than 3 hours and did the work the same day. DO NOT take your boat to cascade or you will be sorry. You have been warned.

I asked about repairing my boat that was struck by a car and the sales guy that I talked to said to bring my boat down and the repair guy can help me out and that he was very good at insurance claims. So I bring my boat in and after looking at the damage he tells my that it is not repairable. The repair guy then tells me that for a fee that they can help me out with appraising the boat. I just needed to talk to the sales guy again. The sales guy comes back from lunch and I explain to him the situation and that I was told that he can help me out. Then the sales guy becomes very rude. He says to me I have to eat lunch and make money. I cannot help you at all.. I was pretty much kicked out very abruptly and when I was trying to turn around my damaged boat in their small lot I got no help at all. I had to unhook my trailer to turn around and lift it by hand off and back on my truck because the jack was broken from the accident. They still offered no help at all. I will never do business with Cascade Marine again.

The owner is a mechanical wizzard, who shines best on thorny problems that would get short shrift at other shops. He may not have the fanciest store in town (which btw would mean overhead to pass on to customers) or the best bedside manner (most brainy, engineer types dont), but a number of big deal governmental and commercial boat operators on the Columbia have apparently long entrusted him with their complex maintenance. I suspect the one-star reviews are from people who were looking for dirt cheap prices on commodity-type, routine work.

Very poor customer service. I called ahead to ask about buying an impeller. Ken says they have it in stock and its $28-30. I get there and its ready to go on the counter. He then tells me its $38. I asked why theres a big price difference than what he told me over the phone. His response was I just estimated the price and I dont look up the actual cost until you come in to pay. Soooo...you just make up (low) numbers and when the customer comes you tell them its actually much higher. So I pay and leave. My brother breaks down our motor overnight and turns out it has more damage than its worth to repair. I take the impeller back the next day and ask for a refund. Ken only gave me back $30 in cash instead of putting the full amount back on my credit card. I had to ask why hes doing this and shorting me instead of putting the full amount back on my card. He then tells me its a 20% restocking fee. I told him he never mentioned this before, during, or after the purchase and its not posted anywhere in his shop. He said it costs him money to refund me on the credit card so he covers his cost with cash only refunds + a 20% restocking fee. I dont know anyone who does business this way. I tell him thats not reasonable and he replies...you can keep the part or keep the cash. I go outside and call my credit card company, they tell me it shouldnt cost him anything to refund back to my card. I told him I wont be coming back to his shop and he replies dont need you, Im still in business. Considering Ive shopped here in the past, I will never buy or refer anyone to this business again.

Where to start, called and set up a time to view a pre owned 16 foot sportmen hewscraft. Arrived at cascade marine took about a hour to look at the boat and made a offer pending a test run on the Columbia river. Called cascade marine at about 10 am to plan a test drive of the boat at 4 pm. Arrived to cascade marine, fallowed the boat down to the ramp, helped launch boat. The tech if you want to call him that started up the boat and let it warm up. I brought along a friend for the test drive and him and I climbed into the boat. I looked at the fuel gauge as I got into boat seeing that it was below the empty mark I asked the tech do you think its a good idea to go out on the coulumbia river with no fuel ? He informed me that the boat had fuel and was reading 3/4 of a tank at the shop, and the guage must have a issue. ( Thinking that the tech would have taken care of all normal boat check list items I did not check the boat for life jackets or a anchor.) The tech started the main 50 hp yamaha and let it warm up. We pulled away from the dock and headed out onto the columbia river. After about 5 minutes of running the boat the main motor started to loose RPM and eventually die. As we began to float down the columbia the tech could not get the main motor running again. He moved over to the kicker motor and could not get it to run either. My friend and I are both seasoned boaters, at this point I asked the tech if he had a anchor, he responded no and continued trying to start the kicker. We continued to head down the river. At this point we were about 100 yards away from a old piling with logs caught on it and we were drifting right towards it. I informed the tech of this and he yelled he was trying. I moved over to the driver seat and began to raise the main outboard motor so it would not hang us up on the logs we were going over. With no life jackets on board and no anchor I was planning to take a cold swim. After dragging the boat which is on consignment over the logs and and pilings the tech got the kicked running. The new problem was now that the manual trim was set to high on the kicker motor and every time the tech would give it gas the motor would kick out of the water. We were making no head way back up the columbia. I sat down in the driver seat which I then realized was not bolted to the floor. I got the main motor running again and at full throttle is was moving up the river about 5 MPH. This motor had a bad cylinder. When we got back to the dock the tech kept blaming all the issues on bad gas. We helped the tech get the boat back on the trailer and out of the water. Once everything was buttoned up the tech asked me if was ready to continue with the sale because if so he would get his mechanic on the boat first thing. I informed him I was not ready to proceed and I would call him tomorrow. Not one time did he apologize for any of the 3 ring circus that took place putting 3 peoples lives in danger. I could not even think what could of happened if I would of had my wife and children with me on the boat. One goes to a dealer for things like this not to happen please save your time and money and do not got this place. I hope the owner of the boat reads this and sees how they are treating his boat. I would not buy a thing from this shop. Wasted the time I took of work to test drive the boat and acted like the test drive went great.

An evening boat trip turned into a major repair after my prop shaft found a piling or a submarine just inside the Willamette channel. After that I thought my familys weekend plans to head to the lake with the boat would have to be scraped since most boat shops are a week or more out to get service. Cascade wasnt one of the usual places I take the boat but they were willing to take a look and see what they could do. After reading some of the other reviews of Cascade Marine I almost cancelled my appointment but I sure am glad that I didnt. Ken and his team of skilled and dedicated techs, many of whom are service members or veterans, know their stuff and I couldnt believe they were able to replace a ski boat prop shaft in one day. Cascade did the job amazingly fast and the work has now held for hours as if the issue never happened. The estimates that Cascade provided for the work were right on. Good maintenance on your boat isnt free nor should it be when a trained and qualified shop works on it. You may ask why a boat shop is completely surrounded by razor wire like a prison, and I would tell you.... if youre in this neighborhood I suppose you have to do what you have to do. I once walked past late at night and overheard a couple that had broken in and taken command of a non-operational speed boat commenting about the quality of their cocaine. The trailer jack broke yesterday while winterizing the boat. Not wanting to throw money at more expensive stores I started calling around in search of a new trailer jack. I was at work and spoke with several different stores. I contacted Cascade Marine, spoke with a guy there and he stated he had an excellent jack that was far superior to any fulton or other product at a good price. Being I was at work the girlfriend went on a mission for me to purchase said jack. When I get home I I saw it wouldnt work for the current trailer we have. This morning I went to return the jack and had an awful experience at Cascade Marine. First the guy that helped me had no idea how to do a refund. He called what I can assume was the owner. He asked me why it wouldnt work I explained to him why and that I had already purchased another jack. He stated that there would be a 20% re stocking fee. First off no where in the shop was this advertised, my girlfriend at the time of purchase was not informed of this and no where on the receipt did it say this was the policy. I explained to him that this jack had been purchased less then 24 hours ago, that had I been there I wouldnt have purchased it, that it was total crap that they were going to charge me essentially 15 dollars to re stock a jack, and that this policy was not advertised. The guy then basically told me I could pay the fee, keep the jack, or pound sand. I bit my tongue, told him I wanted my money back and left the store. I got into the truck, looked at my change, and he had shorted me ten dollars on top of the 20 % re stocking fee. I know simple math is hard and I could see how a 20 % refund on a hundred dollar purchase could be hard to compute :doh:I went back in and told him he owed me more money, he gave me a dirty look and gave me the rest of my refund. Its total crap that they are charging people 20 percent when it is not advertised on a simple return and that less then 12 hours later this would occur. I can only imagine what these people would be like to deal with on repairs if this is how they handle a simple return..

Im thinking at this time, Wow no call to tell me what he had found and to see if I wanted to order the fuel pump, he just went ahead and did it. Ok, no big deal, long story short, he ended up throwing a bunch of parts on it that I never okd, held my motor for ransom after already giving him 300 dollars and he said that it ended up just being that the carb. float was upside down. Total scam, I only wanted to spend a couple hundred dollars on the motor and I could have just gone out and bought a new motor. I repeat, do not go there!

Terrible. Incompetent. Took my Merc Optimax in for service since I was traveling for business and couldnt spend the time to work on it myself. It was starving for fuel...obviously a fuel delivery issue. They worked on it for a month and couldnt figure out what was wrong. After getting a $2000 bill from them and still a non fully functioning boat I took it home.Took a day off of work to trouble shoot engine problem and isolated it to mid fuel pump which ran me $500 for parts and about an hour to replace. Runs perfect now.Why these bozos couldnt troubleshoot the issue is because of sheer incompetence. The owner (Ken) was a jerk. He didnt want to give me a price break either since I figured he should have done that because they didnt fix the motor, they were just throwing parts at it. No real trouble shooting and I ended up eating the price. He basically (in and indirect way) threatened to take legal action if I didnt want to pay the full amount. In the end I should have done the work myself instead of trying to delegate. Will NEVER EVER take anything there again. The only competence they have is doing a fluid and maybe spark plug replacement. Even that, beware they dont rip you off. Additionally very amateur mistakes, such as forgetting caps on schrader valves (fuel rail), leaving ignition on so hour meter went from 42 hours to over 150 hours and other rookie mistakes. Very disappointed.

This place is a Huge Rip Off!! I dropped off my outboard and a $300 dollar deposit. Never heard from them so called and they told me it was the fuel pump and one was on order and we would be under our $300 deposit. A week later got a call to come pick it up and when I get there they hit me up for another $162 dollars saying that it wasnt the fuel pump and that the carb needed rebuilding. I never once got a call to ok the work to go over the deposit plus he still charged me for the fuel pump even though that wasnt the problem. I asked to speak to a manager or owner and told me that wasnt possible. I took the motor out and it doesnt even idle. I just spent $462 dollars and the motor still runs like crap. There mechanic has huffed too many fumes in the back and probably cant even change a car tire. I wish I would have seen this site before I went there, obviously im not the only one who has had a bad experience.

I went in to talk about what was going on with my motor and was encouraged to not own a boat. I would not trust these guys.
