I had a great experience selling my car to Carmax. I did the online offer beforehand which was quick and easy. I had plenty of appointment times to choose from, and they were able to appraise my car within an hour, despite being VERY busy on a Thursday afternoon.Everything checked out with my vehicle, so there was no change in the amount I received from the online offer. I felt that the offer I received was incredibly reasonable/appropriate considering the current market and the condition of my vehicle.Jude was very friendly and efficient during the appraisal process, and everyone that I came into contact with on the financial side was equally as nice and helpful. Paula was who we worked with to finalize the sale, and she was thorough and quick (took about 5 minutes, give or take once we sat down to go through the paperwork.

Absolute bait and switch. I entered all the accurate info to get an estimate to sell my car. They quoted me $29,800. I made an appointment, showed up, they made me wait 1.5 hours PAST my appointment time, and then confirmed even though everything I entered about my car was 100% true, they were only going to offer $25,000. Absolute car dealership sleeze.

All I wanted to do was sell my car. I already had your bid and all of the appropriate paperwork. I got there at 11:30 on Saturday morning. After an hour of waiting, I was told I was the next customer. 1/2 hour later I still had not been reached. I had to leave at 1 pm because I had to lead a meeting for my school. I returned at 6:30 at night and was not brought into the room to sign the papers (which took 5 minutes) until 8:30. 3.5 hours for a 5 minute process. That is NUTS! I also saw that people who had been there less than I had went in front of me. Do those buying cars from you get special privileges? A customer is a customer! For those waiting - treat us all the same!!!

I loved CarMax! I needed a new vehicle and went online. I could search vehicles in the area I was willing to travel, and their website gave me all of the details on the car. I was then able to get pre-approved and do the paperwork online. When I went to pick up my car it took only a little over an hour to finalize everything and I was ready to go! It was so fast and so easy.

In the past this place was great to go to. I just spoke to a Kelsey in service and she acted as if she had better things to do than SERVICE my vehicles needs. Because of this interaction alone I won’t be paying for service here anymore I will go someplace closer. This location is far away from my home but I made the trip for years because the service WAS good. My family and friends will hear about this experience as well.

More then fair with trade value. Their cars are a little pricey though but they are picky with what they put on the lot so everything is in great shape. Customer service is top notch. Not pushy or overbearing. Selection for vehicles under 25k is very limited though and shipping a car from another one of their locations seems very unreasonable. Im paying 1099 to have it shipped from California and its non refundable which worries me a bit. What if the car doesnt turn out to be in good shape? And 21 days for delivery paying that much is crazy to me. We shall see how the rest of the deal goes. Hopefully well.

Very quick and fair process. They pay the standard presumptive value for your car. If leasing check your lease company will sell it to them. Beware leasing company will probably not give them the same contract value youve been given so you could end up upside down still. If so Purchase your car from lease pay the county sales tax and then sell to carmax

Found the car. The CarMax website is excellent. It allows you to drill down to exactly what you want. From there is where things got complicated. I am in Alabama and the car was in Texas. I elected to fly to Texas to get the car. I should note that the car was financed through my credit union. Once I got the buyers order, it did not show my credit union as the lien-holder. It was difficult to get the representative at CarMax in Texas to understand that they needed to be placed as the lien-holder. Once that was accomplished, the CarMax in Texas would not sign a guaranty form. My credit union gave me the check anyhow, as we have an excellent relationship. Arrived to get the car. The representative was not there who handled the paperwork initially, so another person assisted. He was helpful. Got to their paperwork area. The lady who handles the paperwork for them was condescending, yet clueless. I still don’t have any of the paperwork for the car, as they were supposedly filling it out to send to me in “one week.” That was over 2 weeks ago. So, my credit union has no title or paperwork. That means I’m still driving around on the temporary paper license plates. CarMax selection and price was good, but their Plano, TX store is a joke.

We did everything online to purchase the car, even Signed the financing agreement. When we got there the salesmen reruns our credit and makes us start the whole process Over - 5 hours later, after 30% down, having to sign in blood, and pinky promising that we really had an income, we left with a Range Rover. Exciting, right? It was short lived! 2 days outside of our 30 day money back guarantee the car breaks down and leaves me and my 3 year old stranded. We bought all of the extended warranties, but it’s still under the manufacturer warranty, so 15 hours later the car is still sitting in a parking lot(not even in a parking space) waiting for Land Rover to pick it up. I should have known from the beginning of the process and the struggle at the dealership to even get the car, that it was going to be a mistake!

Car showed up with hail damage, issues with the engine (getting 7mpg versus 27 mpg that it is supposed to) and was filthy. While they ultimately did fix the hail damage (they are competent), I had to threaten to return the car. BMW (the manufacturer) reset the system on the car and that fixed the mpg issue…ended up detailing our new car myself. Sales staff was friendly and did try to help, service staff not so much.

It was a great experience. The part that really topped the hat for me was the detailing of the vehicle and topping up of the gas. As a customer, when Im coming in and spending $40K+ on a vehicle, I would have been annoyed to leave the lot to have to fill up the gas tank. Its these little services that really told me CarMax is here to take care of its customers.

Overall I had a good experience. There was some difficulty in the financial arrangements. It required some unexpected hoops to jump through. Otherwise it was smooth. I left my garage door opener in my trade in but our salesman, Loutt, was very helpful in recovering it.

Great car buying experience but their service agreement isnt as good as they promised.I bought very nice 2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. They said that any problems would be fixed in the first 4000 miles / 90 days and I bought an extended warrant. They said that I would get a discount on my deductible by bringing it to them. OverallAbout 1000 miles later the car is making some loud creaking noises every time I push on the accelerator from a standing position. I call them up and they look up my information. They immediately tell me that they are not certified to work on Hybrid vehicles and want me to take it to a Chrysler dealership instead. If its not covered by the Chrysler warranty I have to try and recover the money from CarMax. This seems like an unpleasant surprise / hassle trying to negotiate this. They should take responsibility of their warranty promise without me having to hassle with it.

Walked in and was sent to the business office, where I showed them the email and Paula was very professional and after a wait was called to sign my title over, and was handed a check. Went to car max to get a vehicle, found one, realized after a week or two i didn’t really care for it, cool have 30 days to return. I find one the next day, call, pay to have it transferred. I was told the longest it would be 1 full week. That came and left I called several times inquiring. Was told that if my 30 days was up it was ok it wasn’t my fault. 3 weeks goes by. Mind you they have run my credit twice now once for the intial and once for the transfer which I didn’t understand considering it had been no more than 2 weeks. Car finally comes in and is ready almost 31/2 weeks later. Go to pick up the car over an hour away from home, say they need to run my credit AGAIN, and of course my credit had plummeted 50+ points from all the hard inquiries and the added car loan on my acct so the Financing I was originally quoted for the vehicle was no longer valid because the transfer took so long. I was unable to get the vehicle I PAID to have transferred because of the price increase, that wasn’t my fault. They could have cared less. No refund for the transfer either. Long story short, I’ll be dumping this company ASAP! Thanks for all the lies Carmax! I do not believe that is how far buying should be!

I completed the form online to sell my car and was given an offer to bring to my local dealership. I was extremely nervous that they were going to try and lower the offer for some reason and I was prepared to walk away from the deal if that happened. I was pleasantly surprised that after inspecting my car the offer was exactly what they offered online. I got to the dealership late in the evening and was able to complete the sale before they closed for the night. As a family we have purchased six cars from Carmax so I was alreay sold on that aspect but this was my first time selling a car and Im very pleased with the experience.

Arrived at 9:20am, had my certificate in hand from CarMax after my appraisal two days before. I had my wife and two kids with me. My wife tells me that there was a customer that had gotten there after me and still was able to sit down to finalize the sale. Imagine two kids whinny and getting very restless. I had informed the staff we had to get to the dealership down the road to finish purchasing our car. It felt as if there was no urgency or that we werent a priority. I personally will not be selling to CarMax in the future.

Got an appointment for an appraisal? Makes no difference, youre going to end up waiting in line so that they can re-enter all of the info you gave them to get the appointment in the first place! So I had an appointment to get my car, for which I had already entered on their website make, model, vin, options, miles, the works...so all that was needed was for the appraiser to come out, get the car, appraise it. Simple, right?Well, as it turns out, no. You still have to wait in the line (about 30 people by my count, plus tons sitting around waiting) to get entered into the system (again!); I guess entering all info on website is not sufficient. So seeing this, I turned around, walked out, and called the Plano store number on their website, which as it turns out is not actually the Plano store, but a call center (obvious because the two people I spoke with both asked me which location I was calling about).Sooooo, after the first person disconnected me and while on hold with a second after calling back, a guy from the store walked out. So I asked if it was possible to have someone come out and appraise the car since I had an appointment? Answer: nope, you still have to go in and get in the system (funny, I would have thought entering my name, address, VIN, vehicle, options, and VIN might already have got me in the system, but I what the hell do I know?) So, I said OK, forget it, and left.Finally, as I was driving home, first the operator came back from hold and told me she was unable to reach anyone in the store; then a guy called from the store (I guess one of the operators left my number), and verified that I need to stand in the long line even though I already made an appointment. No thanks, Ill sell my vehicle elsewhere!! Would give zero stars if I could for this SNAFU-filled fiasco. The level of incompetence just boggles my mind.

We completed the process online and financing also. Appointment was set to go in to test drive the car and complete paperwork. When we got the no one knew much about anything but we were told that the car was sold. Trying to comprehend how was that possible the manager said the the online people or call center people were not completely intuned to the Store. So we literally stayed in the store all day long. This was a really bad experience and Im not completely sure that we would ever come back. The numbers were all set now after all of that they tried to insist that we add more features to or plan. Like I stated everything was already finalized but now we had to start all over again and now.

Unfortunately,my experience was so so. Locating a vehicle was easy enough, however the hold process was more complicated than necessary. I had placed a hold on a vehicle, how found another more in my range and had requested several times to have the original hold cancelled. It wasnt. I was also able to (allegedly) put the other car on hold,the app confirmed this. However, when i went for my appointment, low and behold, it wasnt on hold,but luckily the car was still there. I was also only given 20 minutes to test drive the car as opposed to the 24 hr test drive thats advertised everywhere, so overall,the experience could have been a lot better.

Gave me an electric car with not enough charge to make it home (it was around 40%). I had to scramble immediately to several charging stations before I could find the right one and that took over an hour and a half just to still not make it home and had to search again (it’s takes the maximum time when you start from so low) what a horrible start and I still have not made it home (I live 40mi. From location) I left around 4:30pm and it is now 9:45 pm this whole experience has been stressful this is just the icing on the cakeUpdate: Now I’m waiting to be towed home (@10:45pm) I still have not made it home I’m stuck out here pregnant and furious! Beyond unacceptable

I recently sold my car to this CarMax location, and I had a wonderful experience. Though my car was overall in good condition, it was quite old (200K+ miles) and needed some repairs that cost more than I decided was worth repairing. I had several friends and even the service department at the dealership recommend taking it to CarMax for the best buying price. I received a fair and, in my opinion, high value price for my car. The entire process was easy, efficient, and all the employees were friendly. I would definitely recommend CarMax for anyone looking to sell their car.

So at first I didnt really like it because I had to work with so many different people I couldnt really have a one person that walking through the whole thing and then I realized that everybody comes together as a team to give you the best service so they can so you dont have to wait for somebody. The 30 day policy is awesome because you can only drive it for 20 minutes you cant really figure out if its the right car for you can you take it home then you start to see what doesnt work especially if its an older car. I really like the call center cuz the lady really took the time to give me super a lot of attention and discuss every detail about the cars I wanted and everything that was great also the free shipment with no pressure thanks guys

Terrible/excellentWe had a car on hold with our service agent and they sold the car out from under us. He was like 12. They turned us over to a much better, more experienced agent and he found us a better car with less mileage in Salt Lake City. His name is Larry and he was wonderful. Can’t say enough good things about him! He got us the “dog car” right under the wire the Friday before Dallas shut down due to Covid-19. I have been able to check on my elderly mother with my black lab and cheer her up and deliver groceries. None of that would be possible without Larry. The first guy sucked, Larry is my personal hero.

Stopped by to test drive a car I found online. Walked in about 10 minutes till 8pm. No one greeted me, asked if I needed help or acknowledged my existence. I continued on to the touch screen car search, browsed about 10 minutes. Walked out to the parking lot of CarMax inventory to see if I could at least peek through the windows of the car I am interested in. Walked the entire lot with several Carmax associates passing me by... still not one word from anyone. Luckily I found the car I like and it was unlocked. I sat it in, looked at all of its features, opened back hatch, folded seats down, honked the horn and really got a feel for the car. I then continued to walk the parking lot to view other vehicles until I was finally ready to go. I was at this location a good 45 minutes with no conversation from any Carmax associates. Looks like I will be going to another location for the car I like. I wish I couldve test drove this car but hopefully Ill have better luck this weekend.
