My husband and i were visiting Pittsburgh and walking Mexican War Street when the Mayfly came recommended by an area resident we met along the way. We were so impressed with the customer service! Both the employees we met went well and above to answer our questions and offer suggestions. The food was very good as well. Even though we were tourist to the area, we felt a warm welcome to the neighborhood and highly recommend the Mayfly Market and Deli. We will definitely be back next time we are in town for a visit!
Great fresh, local food! Ive never had a bad sandwich and they often have the most delicious seasonal. offerings. Cant recommends Mayfly enough! I often go out of my way to make a stop there!
Love the sandwiches, super convenient if you live in the War Streets or nearby! They also have their entire inventory, both grocery and deli, available in a spreadsheet through their website.
We live a block away and have loved this place dearly since moving here, but suddenly they wont accept ANY customizations on their deli items... Im sorry if I dont like sweet jam on my turkey sandwich - how hard is it to put on a different spread? Good luck eating anything if you have allergies or if you dont have the exact same palate they do - They dont care. Its their way or the highway. Deeply disappointed.
Just had the pot roast over mashed potatoes. Absolutely wonderful. The pot roast was incredibly tender mixed perfectly with button mushrooms, carrots, green beans, tomatoes, and onions. Over top of buttery, velvety mashed potatoes. I super recommend this place. Plus they also had a new orange bitter for my old fashions that I picked up.
Love this small market and deli!Always friendly and welcoming and the ice cream is back!I recently got some of their deli sides and was super impressed and unique!A lemon dill potato salad and a sweet potato farro salad with feta! Amazing! Also, fresh bread and beautiful boquets of flowers,!
We were very impressed. I love the interior. Food was excellent. We work close by and I am thrilled to see a place of this caliber open!!!
Very nice staff and pleasant atmosphere, with a delicious selection of prepared foods and grocery items.
Delicious sorbet. Try the blueberry/coconut. Only issue ia that is wish they would offer a single scoop as well as a double.
Nice small grocery store with good prepared salads, veggies, refrigerated smoked salmon and cheeses...a little pricey but the area seems to be a food desert..
I love this little market! The food at the deli is AMAZING and the shop has a little bit of everything so I can almost always find what I need there. They support and sell products from several local businesses, and always have the friendliest folks working there. Highly recommend stopping in.
Nice atmosphere but way overpriced. Some items are almost twice as much as they’d cost at giant eagle down the street.
The deli is great, the local sourcing is so nice, and can’t recommend enough.
Great selection of local groceries, household basics and fun little gifts. We love the pop-ups from other local Pittsburgh sellers that Mayfly hosts and enjoy stopping in to see what new baked goods are available.
Great little neighborhood grocery & deli. Sandwiches are very good and the soup is home made. No eating in. All take out. Worth the trip!
I loved this market and deli. Delicious sandwiches and convenient offerings.
What a wonderful find in the neighborhood! This is the type of small, organic, nicely stocked market that should be in every neighborhood. Mayfly has a wonderful selection of fresh produce, dairy products, dry goods, and even a small meat selection. They also have a good deli with delicious sandwiches. Make this a regular part of your week for lunch, groceries for dinner, or just a coffee. You wont regret it.
Mayfly continuously delivers quality. I am always impressed by how much stuff such a small story can carry and how wonderful the quality of some of products are. I am so happy to find such a great little grocery store and deli in my neighborhood.
Best bodega in western PA!! Just perfect.
I don’t usually write reviews but I feel so passionate about the turkey sandwich from here I needed to share how wonderful it is with the world. 10/10. Having a bad day? Get a turkey sandwich and turn it around. Having a good day? Make it better with a turkey sandwich. Also one time I wanted chocolate so I walked over and their chocolate chip cookies had just come out of the oven and the cookie was so warm and perfect I still think about it.
This place is a hidden gem on the Northside. They efficiently get you in and out. The food is delicious! The runaway melt & coleslaw are to die for! The prices are very reasonable with a lunch around $12 pp
Really nice people greet you at the door and let you know whats on the market and also talk to you about when they first open and just very friendly people I love organic places
This place has a very quaint, welcoming environment. Staff are very friendly & willing to help. When I came here & bought some produce I couldnt believe how cheap it was! Definitely worth checking out, they have a good variety of stuff.
Delicious food!
Healthy food with its own appeal. A little pricey, but mostly organic, natural, and fresh options. Go here if you want to eat healthy and have the budget to cover it.
Best bodega in the Burgh
Cute little shop. The soups are divine!
Great spot for lunch. Awesome soup and sandwiches
Really wonderful prepared foods. Great selection of staples (although the earlier the better, its small so things can sell out), best Sorbet in Pittsburgh.
If I could give them 10 stars I would. The deli is excellent (particularly their soups), their selection of local, high-quality goods is outstanding. Even their coffee is good. Highly recommend.
Made to order fresh sandwiches. Generous on meat. Good coffee and tasty coconut macaroons! All around great stop shop!
Mayfly is a hidden gem in the Northside. As deli, they have a number of great options. Id recommend either the prosciutto or dill citrus chicken salad sandwiches. As a market, they have a surprisingly wide selection of groceries for a small space (assorted dry goods, cooking supplies, basic produce, laundry detergent, cleaning products, etc...). Perfect for picking up a few items between trips to the supermarket.
This is the cutest place. The North Shore is lucky to have it. You can get a few groceries, coffee and a delicious little meal! The owner is very sweet!! We will be back!
If I could I would give them more stars! Having them around makes me SO happy! Just a couple blocks away I find: small but good selection of groceries (perfect for those times when you forgot something from the supermarket!), amazing selection of cheese and cold cuts (and not too expensive!), delicious sandwiches, amazing pastries, creative and delicious sorbet and friendly people. Seriously. Its THAT good.
A new and cute addition to the war streets! Its well put together with food staples and a deli counter for groceries and sandwiches. Prices are good for a deli and the local food (bagels!) is awesome. Also $1 coffee.
A really nice, cute little market. Great for stopping by to pick up some quick necessities, or just a snack! They carry Pigeon Bagels on Wednesday and Friday - Sunday. Very tasty, good coffee too. 😋 Highly recommended!
This is one of my favorite places to have opened in the North Side in the last year or so. Its quick, convenient and fast to grab Staples (the majority of which are locally sourced)...If youre around, stop by and grab some of their signature lunch meats from the deli. Or, try some of the rotating flavors of Gilligans sorbet. Blueberry mojito is my favorite.Seriously though, kind staff, a decent selection and a lot of local goods. This is a store I was thrilled to see come to the neighborhood and I hope to see them around for years to come.
I went to Mayfly for the first time and ordered their pastrami sandwich. For $8 dollars, I regretted the purchase and found it to be merely okay. I do think the market itself features a nice selection and the space is inviting.
A great local market, with alot of modern convenience. Bread works bread and Burtons milk, what else does a Pittsburgher need?
Great addition to the neighborhood! Delicious made-to-order sandwiches and fresh groceries, mostly locally sourced. Also a coffee bar, selection of pastries and baked goods, and several types of sorbet you can taste before you buy.
Hey, I dig these guys. Its great to see a little neighborhood shop open up and theyre full of handy stuff. Stop in and help the mom and pop store out when you can.
Deli sandwiches are great. Really good bread. Overall nice corner bodega
Quality neighborhood market with a friendly staff and home-made sorbet!
Great neighborhood place
Cute corner store with great sandwiches!
Sorbet from Gilligans is my fav! Kale salad is also amazing. Really cant go wrong!
Great place for a sandwich or every day items. Delicious cookies and other snacks. Try the sorbet!
God food
Great little place to grab sandwiches and gelato and much more. The service is pleasant and I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Great foodGreat serviceI ordered macha coconut sorbet, and it was tasty😋
Deli menu great. Paying for good quality.
Nice selection of house-made products. The Kale & Quinoa sald was delicious as well as the Carrot, Raisin, Coconut Sorbet. Reasonable prices for a neighboorhood market. They have a lot of local products as well.
A great little market well stocked with grocery staples and interesting specialty items. The prepared food is delicious and I can never say no to the sorbet!
Good experience. Wine tasting as well. Very nice.
Great little shop! Theyve got an amazing Espresso for a fair price.
Great selection of fine goods
Great Sorbet and Sandwiches
Always fantastic!
The lime chicken chili👌
I wish there was one in every neighborhood in Pittsburgh
Sandwiches, milk, neighbors, and more!
