Great ambiance, lots of outdoor seating. Only a few seats inside, though. I had a Cortado - a shot of espresso with steamed milk - it was excellent. Only $3.75. Would be 5 stars if it had a bakery.
Good coffee with some nice outdoor picnic tables. This location was surrounded by many local businesses so offers great walk ability. My cortado was delicious!
Super cute spot! Great fresh coffee. Good latte
I was touring Pitt with my daughter last month and we stopped in your lovely shop in Oakland. I want to give kudos to the barista working there. He was kind and attentive to the many people ordering from him. He also helped me pick out a bag of delicious coffee to take home (City Drug). When I left the shop I unknowingly accidentally left my credit card on the counter and he found me on the sidewalk and returned it to me. I can’t express how thankful I am to him! What a wonderful young man!I am so appreciative of his honesty and kindness!Donna Murphy-CarosiSent from my iPhone
I visited this place twice. I remember I asked the Australian barista for a flat white and he was so shocked that someone in the states asking for a flat white. Very friendly staff and I really enjoyed the atmosphere.
As a Seattleite who knows the difference between good coffee, Redhawk is outstanding. Easily the BEST freshly roasted coffee you can get in Pittsburgh hands down. Great selection of single origins and a nice blend called City Drug. Plus the excellent customer service really sets it apart. Keep it up Redhawk!
I love this coffee shop! The vibe inside is very cozy and it feels local and down to earth. The baristas are always really nice :)) Theres also outdoor seating now, with umbrellas. My go to order is an oat cappuccino.
Im in town visiting a sick family member at UPMC. I visited for my first time on Monday October 4th and the person who rang me up was rude and aggresively waved the card reader in front of me to get me to leave a tip. I stepped back because I was put off by his behaviour and didnt want to leave a tip. When I got my bank statement, I saw he went ahead and added a $1 tip to my order anyway without my permission. I emailed the store using the contact info on their website and no one replied. I would be very careful there. One of their cashiers has no problem stealing money from you if he gets a chance.
Excellent latte! Wow, no kidding folks this was such a brilliant part of my day. Also customer service was top notch with smiling baristas. Inside the shop is super cute too.
Such good coffee in cool space! Super kind staff. All the boxes checked! Go here!
I was hanging out in the area with a friend who told me I had to try this coffee shop, and I certainly wasnt disappointed. I ordered just a regular Drip coffee with cream and sugar, but I was surprised by the full-bodied flavor of the roast. Id love to come back and try a specialty coffee. Its kinda small inside, although there was some seating available out front, and I loved the small business atmosphere.
My new favorite study spot yall. So glad I ditched Dunkin to start coming here everyday. Relaxing atmosphere and the staff is the best😝
Excellent coffee. Limited food selection but there are plenty of other food places and the coffee was really really good.
This is my favorite coffee place! The coffee is delicious, the baristas are nice, and the inside is cute.
Great spot for quality handcrafted drinks. Really impressed with my drinks.Gentleman working wasnt exactly the most personable guy, but he was appreciative, welcomed us in, and made some dope drinks. Still popping them 5 stars off for the spot! 👌🏼
Quite possibly my favorite coffeeshop in Pittsburgh, such an amazing place. So grateful to have them in Oakland.
The perfect cup of coffee ☕ in Pittsburgh. The pastries 🍰 are delicious.
I’ve been a regular patron of this fine establishment since shortly after their opening. Top notch all across. Superb espresso, amazing staff and owners, and solid music. And... now they sell beans they’ve roasted, which I enjoy daily. Recommend the City Drug blend!Support you local independently owned and operated craft coffee roaster / barista / day brightener, and get yourself over to the nearest RedHawk location!!!
Redhawk treated me to my first cortado.... Great staff. Great beans.
One of the best espresso shots I’ve ever had pulled for me :)
Best Espresso in Pittsburgh. Baristas are well trained and pull great shots. Fantastic ownership and service. Reasonable prices for an amazing quality!
Absolutely adore the beans, and the owners are fantastic beans too!
Great cappuccino and cool decor. Comfy seating.
Walking around downtown I was feeling the fall vibe and decided to get a latte, which is not a part of my normal coffee drinking routine. I popped into Redhawk because it was highly reviewed. Okay, so this is a good coffee kind of coffee shop. Obviously the latte was delicious, but I knew I needed to come back to try a black cup of coffee. So I did and it was great. If you like coffee, just delicious, well roasted and brewed coffee with a kind smiling face to hand it to you, then come here. The atmosphere is great. Its small and quaint. I imagine it is cozy when there isnt a pandemic as well. Its right down the street from the lab I work in, so Ill be coming by for a mid-day pick me up often 😄.
The coffee was great and the barista was personable and very kind! Highly recommended!
This is such a cute little cozy coffee shop. I felt more like a welcomed house guest than a customer. Coffees great too!
Staff was cool and friendly. coffee was great. thanks guys!
Not quite as good as Costco easily the third best coffee shop in Oakland
Nice cozy place with knowledgable barista. Delicious coffee but limited options of sandwich / food. Have to crouch under the counter for the restroom on the back too but other than that this is an awesome place to study / chill. A little bit loud on music but great music selection :) 5 stars for the aero press!
They make a great cup of coffee. Its small shop with a neighborhood atmosphere.
Same awesome pours and cool vibe as the Oakland spot. Def hit them up if your in the area.
Had no clue what i was ordering being half asleep, ended up with a cortado. went and drank it back at work and WOW is that some 🔥 espresso!!! i felt energized in .2 seconds and it tasted delicious 💯 + the barista is so sweet and kind!! knowledgeable af definitely recommend!! 🥰🥳🤩
Nice local coffee shop with great coffee and pastries and wonderful staff
Best latte I’ve had in years. Hoping my son goes to Pitt so I can come back for more.
Awesome people, fantastic coffee, good vibes, cozy seating. Exactly what a coffee shop should be. The people that work here are always so friendly and happy to chat with customers that come in. I went in the other day and received a life-changing cappuccino! Cant wait to go back.
This is a cozy coffee shop serving excellent espresso from a rotating selection of 3rd wave coffee roasters. Small section of seating, and a limited selection of pastries, which is fine because this place puts the coffee first, and it shows! Definitely worth the trip if you are looking for good coffee in Pittsburgh.
Great coffee, great service
Update: gave them another try two months later; still getting VERY under-extracted espresso. Will not return.----------I experienced consistently under-extracted espresso from the baristas here. At first I thought it was a fluke, and staff were friendly and kind enough to re-make the drink. It was somewhat better the second time, but still under-extracted (i.e. very sour, blonde, and lacking complexity).Milk foaming is inconsistent (see large air bubbles in photo), but thats nothing compared to the extraction issues.Roast quality of the beans is generally above average; beans are relatively light roast. They dont offer soy milk, only almond and oat, which is a bummer. The atmosphere is pretty cozy, with a good deal of natural light, but theres limited seating.I cannot recommend this coffeeshop until they do more careful barista training/supervision regarding espresso extraction. I suspect they are not using good portafilter distribution technique, but it could also be a too-coarse grind or very uneven tamping.
He let us in even when the shop was closed for the holiday weekend. The americano, latte, lemon poppyseed bread, and oatmeal cream pie were delicious. Thank you for making this pandemic birthday a little more memorable! Cant wait until we can get over and check out the newer shop in Sharpsburg. Thanks again - you guys are great.
Delicious coffee and muffins. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, cozy atmosphere and great espresso equipment :)
The coffee is great, the staff is amazing and helpful. Just the right coffee shop vibe with a great outdoor seating set-up. Visit every morning on the way to work.
Skip Starbucks! Support a small coffee shop instead...plus the coffee here tastes way better!
If you are looking for strictly coffee, this is the place to go. The reason I won’t give a 5 star, the place is too small for a place like Oakland, they could re-arrange to make a lot more seats than is available. I love their coffee and sometime I wish I could sit there and drink it comfortably.
Amazing coffee and truly outstanding service!!! The best coffee shop in Pitt
Great coffee and service.
One of the best indie coffee shops in Pittsburgh, located in convenient location in Oakland
I cannot wait for Redhawk to reopen. I love lattes, and this place has the best. Not a lot of room to hang out, but there employees are always friendly and informative. My favorite coffee in Pittsburgh. 🖤💛
I love this place, although I dont go there enough. Its a small storefront with a friendly staff and fantastic coffee.I highly recommend the mocha, golden milk, and cold brew. I also like to treat myself by buying blends from them. There also are cute artisan goods like mugs and bouquets. While its always packed, its a great place to spend time in.
Super chill coffee shop! Got a matcha latte and it was so delicious.
I love the coffee but the place is too small!! Other than that, it’s so cute and colorful. Really good coffee if you’re in the Oakland area.
I love the coffee here and the place is so cute!! Super recommended! Everyone is so welcoming and kind. Its a routine for me, always a great way to start the day.One morning I ordered my usual cappuccino (dont even have to ask anymore 🙂) but soon realized that I forgot my wallet at home. I tried to cancel my order and kept apologizing over and over, but the guys were so nice and offered me the coffee anyway. Thaaaaanks, so appreciated! I paid back on the following days but that nice thought made my day!
My favorite spot for a coffee break!
The SWEETEST employees! I enjoyed my coffee and at a fair price. This is a great spot to avoid the big corporate coffee shops that surround it. A very down to earth and kind feel, too! However, the place is extremely small so lines can be crowded and theres only room for about 5-10 people to sit inside.
To say that Redhawks coffee is just good is almost unfair - youll be hard pressed to find a better cup around than the fresh brew at Redhawk. The delicious brew kept me coming over and over again throughout my years at school at Pitt and I always enjoy coming back whenever Im in town.
Very savory. Ive had nothing but great experiences here and will keep coming back. This place has many great reviews for a reason.
Little cozy coffee shop with quality drinks and friendly atmosphere.
Redhawks beans, drip coffees, and espresso drinks are the finest youll find in Pittsburgh. Their head roaster and co-owner, Braden, has an innate knack for dialing in perfect batch after perfect batch. The passion that he puts into his beans clearly trickles down within the companys culture; the small team consistently delivers a warm experience and immense knowledge of their product.Whether youre a native looking for a pound of phenomenal single origin, or an out-of-towner in need of a cup for a walk downtown, you should be paying Redhawk a visit.
Hands down the best coffee in Oakland. Awesome baristas who will remember you and the coffee is delicious and reasonably priced. If you want a treat, grab an oatmeal cream pie!
Best coffee Ive had in Pittsburgh. Not too roasted, not too acidic, very deep flavors. The space isnt very big and it can get crowded, but if youre a person who chooses to go to places and try out espressos just to see which one makes you smile instead of twitch -- this is the place for you!!! Their espresso gave me a big smile.
Incredible service and coffee. My sponsor was beautifully prepared and tasted excellent. I found the service to be the best part of the experience. They were both engaging and extremely competent. It is clear that the staff loved working here.
Not only does this place fill the coffee void in Oakland but more impressively stands up as one of the best options in Pittsburgh. The owners are extremely friendly and involved. They intelligently select a unique variety of roasters and different bean origins. So far, every espresso shot that has been pulled for me has been spot on. Finally, the prices are extremely competitive for the quality.
The team behind Redhawk is just the best. In a neighborhood full of chains this spot is really warm and welcoming. The owners have done a great job hiring a team that is just as passionate as they are. The espresso is always great with options of different roasters and the mochas is made with amazing chocolate milk. If you are near by this is a most visit.
This place was just opening up as a I was moving away but it was lovely the few times I went. Amazing coffee and the staff is usually always the same guy, the owner I think, or his wife and theyre super friendly. So great for Oakland to have another local coffee shop like this one. There wasnt much seating when I went there but I know they were adding more as they got more established. Still a small space but if can go and sit, do because its so cute and such a nice atmosphere.
The guys that run the place are awesome. They treat everyone as though theyve been friends forever and that really helps to lighten the mood in the place. The only downside is that it can get quite loud especially around lunchtime when multiple conversations are going on at once in close quarters. But, dont let that keep you from trying the coffee; these guys make some outstanding coffee!
The baristas here are always wicked nice in my experience. It’s a bit cramped, and you probably won’t find a spot to sit. They have oat milk (yay) but I find their coffee to be slightly too bitter.Centrally located by Pitt and makes a good place for a midday walk out to get coffee.
Really cool vibe and employees. I was able to study with ease while drinking a bottomless cup of coffee! Place can get crowded because its good so get there at a time when there is not heavy traffic. Music is great too!
Great little place!! Guys behind the counter were awesome and fun to talk to! I love that they use the thick milk from Bruntons dairy, it makes a great mocha and I cant wait to try the hot chocolate. I cant wait to go back!
Even the chocolate milk here tastes amazingHad matcha latte, ice latte, hot latte, drip, chocolate milk before
Baristas are super personal and helpful. Seem like they really enjoy their job which sets the tone for the cafe.Menu is simple with a handful of non coffee based options. As well as a small selection of pastry options.Spot over all is small but cozy with seating for maybe 12-15 and no bathroom. Consistent flow of people for to go coffee which shows that there coffee options are good.Close to PITT campus with East walkability as well.
Best coffee in Oakland, possibly in Pittsburgh.
It is my favorite cafe of all time. Their coffee is unmatched. The owner is super friendly as well. Ill definitely miss this place a lot after I move out Pittsburgh.
Love this place. Ive come here three days in a row for coffee during a meeting I had in Pitt. The staff is very friendly and great with large orders. I much rather support a smaller coffee shop than Starbucks. AND their coffee is great! And reasonably affordable.
I loved the coffee quality and I love the kindness of the staffs who are working there. However, only one thing that I could not like was the space (too small). With the odd, still, this place is definitely the to go place for having a good coffee, for chilling out, and having fun as a couple.
One of the best coffee shops in town, always with great roasts and coffee variety. They make great coffee and are nice about it. A little small so dont expect to come in and find lots of room to work/study.
Man, I really like this place. It seems to have the best crowd of people and dogs, and the coffee is really good (even their decaf is delicious!) Oh, I should probably note that I am a coffee snob, and I like coffee that is distinctive, rather than friendly.
Red Hawk coffee has made me understand why people love coffee shops. The friendly and knowledgeable staff and amazing quality drinks they make have given me a better understanding of coffee and the flavors I was failing to taste or acknowledge. This location and any others they open should be looked into if you even have a passing desire for coffee.
Redhawk serves some of the best coffee in Pittsburgh and offers a great environment to Oakland. New beans pop up all the time, which is something that many shops dont do. Art is also rotating, which is a refreshing change in scenery from time to time. All the staff is friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. I have been constantly coming back and have never left disappointed.
Great place for a delicious coffee. Barista is friendly and knows what hes doing.Theres like 10 seats in the place so its likely you wont be able to sit down to enjoy it (just get it to go!).
Nice customer service! Small area to toast your bagel so its bring an intimate connection amongst consumers. Good coffee too!
Excellent spot. Dylan is an A+ barista who knows his craft and takes care of his customers. Atmosphere is low key but lively, and the coffee is excellent.
Consistently my favorite go to coffee place in Oakland! Helpful and enthusiastic staff, cozy setting, and a great place for meeting people. I just wish there was more seating available. Oh and the drip is spectacular.
Whether it be any of the espresso options, or just a regular cup of coffee, or even the pastry/bagel items, this place is always the perfect, bright start to the morning. Great coffee! Better service!
Best coffee in Oakland, and definitely in the top 5 in pittsburgh. A hidden gem with which you wont be disappointed.
