These guys have the state inspection scam down. My turn signals were yellow but not yellow enough? Probably exaggerated a few other things too. Stated price for inspection $25 but then charged $170 for visually diagnosing an AC leak I told them about and waited to call me back until right at closing even though they had the vehicle all day - bottom line - you can do better.

My first impression of the place was just how great the staff seemed. They were super helpful over the phone and that only continued in person. Super friendly and they explain everything well if you ask. The location is easily accessible and really clean inside. The service is also really fair and both times Ive taken my car here have been wonderful experiences. Very quick, very professional, and very good quality work.

Called for price quote. Did not want me to wait while they gave me a ballpark figure. I offered that they could text message me or I can call them back after work. When I call back 3 hours later Bob hung up. I apologized for the technical issue he advised me on me when I asked him the status of the price quote!! Bob told me they were not interested in any new business. Ask me I intentionally hung up on you!! Guess he did not my kind of people??

I really like the folks at Baum. They are not the cheapest but in my experience they will find alternatives to OEM parts and are honest about the difference. Every car Ive brought here leaves better than it went in. In the most recent case, we had a wheel that made a constant speed dependent grinding sound. They took three test rides and could not duplicate. They did an inspection and saw nothing wrong. Since they were going to charge me a visit fee, they went ahead and greased some wheel components. But despite the fact they they didnt find anything, my wife and I both agree that the the scratching sound and some other creaks are gone. I think their technician, each of whom the front desk folks (especially Ryan) are supremely confident in, must have done something right.

I always take my care to BBA for work. They consistently leave me pleased by the ease of service, straightforward communication, and friendly service. I never feel like Im getting duped in any way. And after my most recent visit, I got a free 3 month subscription to Sirius XM radio! All about those perks, baby

I was on the hunt for a new mechanic, and some friends suggested this place. Im so happy I went there! I have never had a more professional automotive/mechanic experience. From scheduling, to repair explanations, and pick up, this place was great. For the first time, I left a mechanic feeling respected, knowing I received quality work with a thorough explanation, and paid an appropriate and fair price. As soon as I hit the road with my car, I could tell she was driving better and BBA had found the issue and repaired for a FRACTION of the cost vs. my previous mechanic who gave a much pricier diagnosis. ($130 vs $1300). Ill go back for any inspections or repairs I have in the future! If you are looking for a place to give you a sense of peace and avoid feeling like you were snowballed, this is totally the place for you.

Unfortunately, like so many others before me- many of whom seem to be women- I took my car in for annual inspection and was told my car needed repairs it does not. I was quoted close to 900$ for new brakes and rotors in the front (definitely needed them), and a right front lower control arm replacement. I called around to get a second opinion and took it to someone honest the next day, and my total was less than 300$. Didn’t need a control arm at all. Even with the control arm at this other shop, it would’ve been 600$. Watch out if you’re not a man and choose to take your business here!I wouldn’t have posted this review, but am particularly irritated by an interaction I had with one of the dudes up front. I was searching for my registration and the guy goes “oh no, sweetheart- that’s not your registration, that’s your title”. Yeah... I’m aware it’s the title to my car... I bought it with my own money. And don’t ever call me ‘sweetheart’. Maybe you’ll think twice about the way you speak to people in the future.

They were very accommodating and communicative throughout the whole repair process and were able to get my car’s battery replaced, inspected, oil changed, wipers done, and back brake light fixed and ready to go within two days — and for a super reasonable price. Baum Boulevard is reliable and fairly priced for their quality and attention to details. I have two 2009 cars with very low mileage so dealers are more interested in selling me a new car than maintaining these. Other than the odd warranty repair (takata air bag recall) and a somewhat complicated themostat repair on the Audi, Baum Blvd has been keeping these inspected, safe, and on the road for the last 5 years. They are also a preferred Tire Rack installer, so that you can get your tires drop shipped to Baum Blvd directly. They even helped me get a warranty road hazard RMA set up when one of my tires failed after only 6 months. They are busy and are good about honoring scheduled and getting the work done on time. They have a nice lobby waiting area if you need to wait a bit.

My trunk latch unexpectedly broke the night before our house closing/move. I took the car in there at 7:00am the next day and asked if somehow they could fit me in and take a look. They got it working again, after the part I needed was not in stock anywhere. They called me right away and explained the situation and let me know they got it working for now and explained how much it would cost to repair in the future whenever it stops working again. Everyone was very nice and professional. I cannot thank them enough!

Took my car in at noon for a check engine light that came on. Ryan said he would have someone look at it to see what was going on. They would try to have an answer by the end of the day.To my surprise they did contact me by the end of the day with what was wrong with my car. It was to my surprise because NO OTHER SHOP in the area has EVER gotten back to me that quickly.The person who would be working on my car let me know the reason for the check engine light, and fully explained to me what all of it meant without degrading me because Im a woman. A very nice change in the Pittsburgh area. He said they would be able to get the part the next day and should have it fixed by the end of that day, baring any problems.Brett called once the vehicle was done, it was pretty late in the day and honestly I was worried about getting there before they closed. He told me that if I was unable to get there before they closed to give them a call. They have an entire pick up procedure for after hours. AMAZING!!!When I got to the shop and was checking out, Brett went over everything again that they had fixed and why they had fixed what they had fixed.Needless to say, I was HIGHLY IMPRESSED with the level of service I received from this shop. It was remarkably clean, the men I spoke to were perfect gentlemen. They made sure I understood everything that was going on with my car. They gave me a very fair and honest price. And the service was remarkably fast especially considering the amount of work that needed done.I will be back for some additional work I need to have done.

Editing my original review. I just called in to get a quote on a clutch replacement for my personal vehicle(I previously relied on them for corporate vehicle servicing, and I will now be reconsidering that.) and they could not even give me a book time without having me pay to get my vehicle on a lift. I know that they cannot give an accurate end price without seeing the car, but every good mechanic I have ever worked with has been able to provide me a very basic initial idea of what a clutch replacement would cost according to book time. The fact that the person I spoke to refused to even say without any problems, book time is xx hours at $xxx an hour has me very disappointed from the quality of service I used to get here.

I called in to make an appointment for an oil change today. Ryan answered my phone and try to look for my record( I have been to that place before). A moment later, he told me they can NOT do the oil change for me. The reason is they had a BAD record with me. I am very surprised and wonder what kind of bad record I have with them. Ryan could not provide any detail when I ask him. He also said that his company has policy to not to serve individuals who has BAD record.I couldn’t think of anything I did was BAD from my last visit . The only thing I could think of was I didn’t buy tires from them last time. I bought two tires from Walmart and have them changed for me. That could possibly made that BAD record since they didn’t make much money on me?Is it even lawful for Any company to reject a customer with a “BAD record” without any further details and a clear explanation about their policy?Anyway, I am very happy to be a Good customer for other companies.I mostly give 5 star reviews, This is the second 1 star review I wrote for 10 years. Absolutely do not bother giving this place your business. I went here in January to get my car through state inspection and emissions testing. I am new to PA and this is my first car, so I was already very anxious and wary of dropping it off to just anyone. This place was very near to my job, though, so I decided to give them a try for the sake of convenience. It was absolutely not worth it. The car passed emissions just fine, but after about four-five hours of waiting to hear back about my safety inspection they finally called and gave me a laundry list of things that were wrong with the car. The mechanic even - politely - suggested I get a new car!!!! They were suggesting that it needed about $2000 worth of repairs. I had just gotten this car from a dealer about six months prior for $5000, so you can imagine how distraught I was hearing this information. After talking to friends and family (and extensive research of the issues they claimed I had online), I decided to take the car somewhere else, and Im so glad I did! I ended up only spending $1000 total AND several of the issues they failed me for on the inspection were not even considered things that could fail a car! I definitely feel that they were just trying to soak up as much money as they could from me. They are all fast talkers and they may sound nice, but they are really just trying to squeeze as much money from you as possible. I would never recommend this place to anyone, and have actually been recommending people NOT to go there since.

I took my car to be inspected here last week. they inspected my car last year without a problem and I had no issue with the interaction with them then. this year, they failed my car saying the tires stuck out beyond the body of the car and that was not compliant with inspection criteria. these are not the original tires but are the tires that they passed on inspection last year. when questioned, they were adamant that these tires were too wide I needed to replace all 4 tires. the original tires on the car are the same width as the current tires. my tire guy laughed when I explained what had happened. I looked up the regs, the treads have to be under the fenders. mine are. the car is compliant as is. I went back the next day and was treated so rudely it was stunning. I suggested we look up the regulation. I was not confrontation with them so I stunned at their incredibly dismissive tone. I was told the tires cant stick out beyond the body of the car, period. so I pulled up the regulation and read it to them. they looked at the car and passed it. no apology, just incredible dismissive attitude. They are a high volume inspection station...and they dont know the regulations and they arent interested in reading them. Do not take your car there.

Baum Boulevard Automotive is a little expensive- but you get what you pay for! The technicians at this shop are highly trained and knowledgeable. I would recommend them for anyone who is looking for quality work and recognizes that sometimes this costs a little more. These guys are professionals and dont appear to be out to cheat anyone.I had recently used this repair shop several times for suspension issue diagnostics (that took another local shop 3 weeks to determine they needed to bring in a specialist to reset to brain). Each time I took my older high mileage vehicle in, they were able to quickly and definitively identify the problem, as well as several other issues requiring attention. They provided me with proof that damage was caused at the previous shop and that an OEM part was defective. Furthermore, they gave me clear and specific recommendations as to how to proceed.The only complaint that I have is that they will only install genuine (Volvo in my case) parts due to their BOSCH certification. This can get expensive quickly, especially for European makes. This shop is going to maintain your vehicle using only the highest quality parts and to factory specifications. If you plan on keeping your car, it is well worth the investment. If you are just looking for someone to slap inspection stickers on your poorly maintained car, this is not the place for you! These guys know cars and they will recognize everything that makes your car unsafe for the road.

A potentially bad situation turned painless by a competent, professional facility with an excellent staff. I have been in the auto service industry for over 30 years as a career automotive technician and have owned my own shop for the last 22 years. When my daughter called from college with the dreaded message the car broke dad, I quickly began looking at local places to take care of the issue. To be fair, the bar hasnt been set very high in this industry, and finding professional, qualified repair shops is tougher than simply scrolling through Yelp. I decided to give these guys a shot as they are local to my daughter and have good reviews. I can honestly say, as a true insider that this facility as well as their staff went significantly above and beyond in helping us correct the issue with her vehicle. I had ordered tires online and had them shipped to Baum Boulevard Automotive. My initial experience was positive. They got me in promptly, installed my tires, changed filters (which I knew was needed), and claimed I needed an alignment done. I didnt notice my car was out of alignment, but I agreed to let them do it just in case. After I picked up the car, I immediately noticed it was pulling to the right (something it didnt do before). I called and informed the service rep of the issue. The way he spoke to me over the phone was outrageous. He repeatedly cut me off and made it clear he didnt want to take the time to make sure their work was done properly. After the conversation ended, I made the decision never to return. Im certain they would try to swindle more money out of me for an unnecessary repair. Stay away from this place!

Not sure where these negative reviews are coming from but in 12 years we have never had anything but exceptionally positive experiences with Baum Blvd Automotive. Chuck, the owner, is great and has gone out of his way on numerous occasions to accommodate our needs and schedule. I have full faith in the skill and honesty of the folks at Baum Blvd. Many is the time (we have older cars) that they have said to us: well, you could replace this now; but you dont need to...ans given your cars age, you really dont need to. Highly recommended!

This year as a new resident, I took my car to Baum Blvd Automotive for my annual inspections. Upon inspection, I was told that I would need to replace all four tires for dry rot (which was surprising since my tires looked normal to me) and that it would be a ridiculous amount of money. Given the news, I figured it wouldnt hurt to get a second opinion.I go to another local car shop for a second opinion and was told that my tires were fine... What?? Interestingly, they said theyve worked with Michelin tires (which I own) for a long time and know that they prematurely show signs of dry rotting. Even though my tires had some really minor spots, they said Id be fine AT LEAST a couple more years, and that its not legal to fail someone for dry rotting unless the cracks are extreme enough to cause a safety hazard (generally, wide enough to stick a coin in). I could barely find my cracks - I literally had to be shown.A year and multiple 200+ mile car trips later, my tires are still going strong. Will I have to replace them eventually? Of course. Was there severe dry rotting on my tire that posed a safety hazard? Definitely not.Long story short, I think this is a classic case of a car shop taking advantage of a naive, new resident. I will never take my car to Baum Automotive again...and a word of advice to new and old customers: Always get a second opinion. It is your car, your money, and your right!

I brought in my Dads old car, now formally named Granddads Ride by the family. This car is a 1998 Saturn and I love it. I love it enough that I gave my son my new 2015 Subaru to take off to grad school. My sisters understand how I feel, other family members, well, less so... That said, I brought it up from Missouri last week and after looking at reviews on the web and trying to ascertain where I could best have an old car that is no longer being made taken care of, I called Baum. They quickly got back to me and set up an appointment for the inspection. Before the appointment was made, I was made aware that on an old car from a state with easier weather, there may be problems that could be costly. Ryan told me that they would not do anything without talking to me. He promptly called me as promised and we discussed how far to go looking at a problem with the horn. He was very supportive as I got stressed and told him not to bother with the windshield wipers until we found out if the horn was a big thing. Given the age of the vehicle, my husband did not want me putting money into it. It was difficult to argue with that. It all turned out well. The repairs were fairly minor and not costly. I was treated with honestly and courtesy by all of the staff at the shop as I brought the car in and out dealing with an emission problem that required a grandfather clause in order to pass the inspection. I dont know if the team at Baum felt my Dads spirit, they sure seemed to. By the time we said goodbye I knew I had found the only place in Pittsburgh where Granddads Ride will want to go when he needs autodoctoring. Granddads Ride will not see the inside of another shop in Pittsburgh. We toasted our new relationship over bagels. Please bring your car to Baum. They will love your car. They will do excellent work as other reviews support. They will keep you informed before they do additional work and they will smile and be wonderful and friendly. I have been bringing my car here for about two years and have been very happy with the service I received. They are thorough at noticing things that need repairs (which on my 12 year old car is to be expected) and everything they have suggested for repair and fixed has made the car drive noticeably better. They are also great about standing behind their warranty. Had an issue with a repair they did that may have been caused by the cars previous mechanic leaving a part out, but they tracked down the part, redid the work, and even realigned the vehicle all under the warranty on their own work. Would strongly recommend them to folks looking for a new mechanic.

I am satisfied with their professional service. AC of my Subaru appeared to be not working, and I brought it to them. It works fine now after their repair work.

The staff at Baum Boulevard have always been incredibly reliable, professional, and expedient at their jobs. Its always a pain when your vehicle has to be taken off the road, but these folks will get you back on it good as new, and theyll do it with a smile. That makes all the difference.

I cannot praise Baum enough! We have a junker of a car and are regularly trying to patch it up in ways that will allow us to limp it along until we buy a new one. Some places we go to understand this and dont try to oversell us or run unnecessary tests, others dont. We recently had an issue where the engine light went on and then the dash lights went OFF entirely. Then one day I got in to go to work and it wouldnt start. We were pretty positive it was a battery problem, and our research and the AAA guy confirmed that. I called Pep Boys and told them what was happening. They told me theyd have to run an engine diagnostic and do a bunch of work that was going to cost like $500 before theyd even know what was wrong with it. They refused to believe me when I told them I thought it was the battery. They were jerks to me and my boyfriend, who called later. I called Baum and not only did they listen to me, but they only charged me for the bare-minimum amount of time it took them to figure out the issue and fix it. Surprise, it was the battery. They put in a new battery and we got our car back by the end of the day for half the cost Pep Boys was throwing at me for just the diagnostic work. Well definitely be going back. Thanks guys!

My car broke down and Baum let me know what they were able to do but also were understanding and helpful in getting it to a dealership to ensure I had the best coverage for repair.

One of the best service shops I have ever been to. They have always been able to find a solution, often at a reasonable price, and have always been completely honest and expedient. All you can ask for when your car is being serviced. Really a cut above the rest.

I was surprised to see Baum Boulevard Automotive on Google reviews with such a high rating (writing positive reviews for their own business maybe?). this place is such a low quality scam workIve never been ripped off and jerked around so much in my entire life and Ive been driving for 45 years.

They got my vehicle in the day I dropped it off, without an appointment. They were very thorough in making sure the issue was fixed and explained the problem to me in terms I could understand. I just purchased the vehicle 3 weeks ago, used, and they assured me that this was a common problem for a used vehicle with around 90,000 miles but that everything else looked good. They really reassured me (and they had no commitment to the used car dealer I bought it from, 3.5 hours away) that I had a good vehicle. Nathan was very helpful! Would recommend to anyone!
