The best wine-buying spot! They have a lot of products, kind and inexpensive workers. On Saturday, I went to their shop there, and I was pretty happy that they were really entertaining and fun. I enjoyed the taste of the wine as well. Its been good and better. Even, the venue was perfect. I enjoyed lying there when I felt lonely. Thank you for making me know you were the best wine buyer!

Great sampling, a huge collection of wine, great ambiance. This wine shop is a must-visit wine shop in town. The bottles of wine that I bought from here were really delicious. Great Burgundy selection.

So Ive had weird experiences with this store. Months ago Ive physically been there I walked in and was put off by how disengaged / vigilant they were to the customers needs while they were too busy talking amongst themselves. So I left. Just now trying to purchase a case online, I made a call to ask a simple question - whether they had a promo code (as it was a field available on the checkout prompt). The guy that answered was not only clueless to a no or yes question. He acted clueless umm Im in store so im not sure what online is. A little confused that he was clueless, unable to answer my question as he was an employee at large but also very rude. He ended the call with a rude YEAH UM KAY BYE. Very off-put by the lack of knowledge considering they should probably know the ins and outs of the store if they are lucky enough to have employed at? But he was incredibly rude and unhelpful treating a customer as an inconvenience. So, 2 bad experiences warrant this review...

It was a joy coming to this location, I was immediately greeted by a woman who was behind the counter. She was very helpful with explaining the market and its rules when it comes to drinking openly. She also pointed out to me that it is Rosé season and pointed to the display in the window. I asked her about how long it took to be put together and she said it took her a little under a hour. She should continue to do the displays because it is absolutely beautiful. At the end of my visit, I asked for her name and she smiled and said her name is Ashley. She even gave me her email address because I told her of my interest of her taking me on as a personal client. Will definitely tell my friends and family thanks to the lovely visit and the lovely Ms. Ashley

My sister and I just walked in and asked the supervisor if they carried a wine we had tried in a restaurant in NYC. We showed him a picture of the bottle. He then immediately proceeded to make us feel like idiots for liking that wine, even though hed never heard of it or tried it himself. He asked how much we paid for the glass, and then told us wed been duped. He told us the only reason we enjoyed it was because of the atmosphere of the restaurant, and because the food was probably good. He spoke to us in a tone that strongly suggested he thought we were idiot women who didnt know wine and that we should let him tell us what to buy and do as he says. Really awful experience from a store that I usually loved going into.

Terrific wine store. Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Give them a varietal or flavor and budget and receive reliable recommendations. Wine classes can be customized and are educational and entertaining. Pleasant experience across the board.

Super friendly staff and what a collection of wines. We could even find Sardinian wine, a rarity in most wine stores. The staff are friendly and made the experience enjoyable.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Called the store more than three times after being put on hold and then having the line disconnected. I finally was transferred to a sales representative that cut me off within three words into answering his first questions - about what I would like to order and where I would like it delivered- to tell me that I should just email him. He barked the email at me and hung up. It is a renowned store with a large collection of wines but dont let that fool you into thinking they also have good customer service.

Ive been there in 11:30 am 9 Jan 2018.First of all I do not know about wine, so my review is only for their customer service.Staffs in there were so kind. Im trying to buy a bottle of wine(1.5L), but it was too early so i cant bring that heavy bottle all day long. I asked them what time they close and tell them why i am asking(I was planning to come back later),then they propose that they can keep my bottle free of charge first(I mean, before I ask). You know, chelsea market is freaking busy place, and there were another customers. They can just tell me the closing time and let me go or come back whatever i want. But they did what they supposed to do or what their customer wants to them.Im pretty sure Im gonna visit them again.One thing I didnt like is lack of other liquor, but this is wine shop. So doesnt matter.

My mother (Linda) had been calling throughout the day to the store and was dealing with a sales person name, Ashley directly with purchasing 2 bottles of wine that would be delivered to the Chelsea Basket store for a gift for my sister. Ashley worked with my mom on choosing a bottle of champagne and wine for my sister for her birthday basket. Everything was done in a timely manner and the receipt was sent over immediately via email. My mother had nothing but positive things to say about Ashley and her patience with my 77 year old mother. She also told me that she’s invited Ashley and her family to come to the Poconos and stop and have a visit with her on our Jaclin farmland. Ashley was very patient and professional with my mother. I will definitely continue being a customer as will my mother Linda. Thank you Ashley, and thank you Chelsea Wine Vault for having someone that is a people person and a professional.

Asian girl working at cashier is super rude! I was paying by Apple Pay and for some reason it was not working. I was explaining to her that I’m concerned that the money might have been deducted from my account. Instead of communicating and explaining, she was shouting and telling me you won’t leave with bottles until translation shows on their system. As if I’m going to run with bottles! She’s probably racist. Won’t come back.

The shrimp, calamari and Brussels sprouts were excellent. The Riesling was the best I ever had. Great experience. Cant wait to return...and...a great free tour of the wine making operation!

I have dealt with this place prior and I went in today to visit with Ashley. She assisted me during my last visit but I learned today, that she had resigned from her position. The staff member that told me this did not give me the reason why but they did say that “I’m glad she got out of the situation here because it’s just too much drama and chaos going on.”Ashley was a very great and positive person to have behind the register. She didn’t just simply wave me off to one of the sales people. She actually came from behind the counter and helped me and even gave me directions to the High Line. I would love to know where Ashley has gone to as I will not continue to put money into this business.Chelsea Wine Vault has lost a great employee. They definitely need to fight to get her back.

I would give this place 7 stars if I could. Im definitely a regular, and although their wine sold at retail is marked up higher than Ive seen elsewhere, the classes and staff more than make up for it. Plus, this is a great one-stop-shop for a great wine-related gift. There are plenty of accessories, bags, and trinkets to satisfy any gift-giving occasion.I learned recently that CWV is in the building that used to be the Nabisco Factory, which is a fun fact, and not at all relevant. But still pretty cool. Unfortunately, the cookie smell no longer permeates the space.Ive been to several wine tasting/education classes, and Ive tried over 100 wines here, and I have to say, the wino in me is always impressed and satisfied.Wine classes during the week can be a bit pricey - sometimes up to $75/person - but for a less expensive option, try the Weekend Wine School, or pick up a Wine Gym or Monthly Wine Tasting pass. It will more than pay for itself.John is my favorite instructor. Hes funny, experienced, and is happy to answer questions. If youre going, say hi to John, and tell him I sent you!

Excellent selection at most price points. They know their clientele well and the place has a really nice feel to it.A good selection of pre chilled white and sparking wines (which is great for those of us who fail to plan/chill in advance) and a really well rounded selection of everything else. Lots of items on sale and they have monthly specials which are always worth checking out.

This is way more than your average wine shop as they have a wine storage facility downstairs that I was able to tour during a private event, which is very cool. They have a huge selection of wines from across the globe as well as spirits, including hyper local vodkas and whiskey. You can also pick up cute wine-related gifts and NYC-centric items.

First time ordering online, good pricing and awesome selection. Shipping wine for a friends birthday, and wanted to verify that the invoice wouldnt be attached and also the expected shipping date. Spoke with Ryan, and he was very accommodating and worked with the timeline needed. Definitely will order again, or visit next time in Ny.

I am not a wine expert, but I am indeed a wine lover. Whats great about this place is that they got great staff that is very much willing to help esp if I dont know what exactly to buy. Really helpful on sharing their notes abt certain bottles that I am curious about. Price? well it really depends on your budget. Price range is great, from low to exquisitely high...

Yikes I’ll throw them a bone because they ain’t THAT bad. But you will rarely leave with what you’re looking for the employees do try to manipulate you to buy higher priced items.

The two women who help me where really good, knowledgeable, and friendly. The only reason for the two star is guy on the cashier, who was a jerk. I asked him if he could please gift wrap the bottle I buying and he reply to me in a condescending tone honey, Im a guy. I dont know how it wrap turned around and told the woman to do it for him.

I went here recently for a wine class through a corporate event. It was fantastic! The wine we sampled was delicious, and our teacher/guide throughout the process was extremely friendly and informative!

Rudest customer service Ive ever encountered. There is a manger named Julio who was the most awful human to me. I really dont understand how they run their business here and what meek standards that must be met to be in a managerial role. Save yourself the trip and go to a wine shop where you will be treated with dignity.

Customer service was great . Put an order in online and within a few hours they had asked if I wanted the order held until temperatures rose above freezing so while in transit the wine wouldnt be affected . The order also got here promptly.

Great selection of wine and fairly reasonable prices too for Manhattan. The staff are super-helpful as when I was unable to attend a wine tasting they sent me my refund as a gift card and didnt charge me the UPS delivery... Ill be back for another tasting and will spend the refund like its going out of fashion.

A new low for customer service. Dont do any out of town shipping as they dont know what they are doing, break promises and are VERY rude.

Fantastic shop with a variety of wines, champagnes and other types of alcohol. They do meetings from time to time (one to try Japanese whiskey for example when I was there) and the staff knows what he is talking about and is very friendly.
