I went here on the recommendation of my roommate who sang their praises in terms of helpfulness and Im happy to say that he was not wrong. I needed to get a piece of wood cut and to purchase a level and screws. I was assisted almost immediately upon entering and was able to get everything done. Friendly and helpful staff and reasonable prices.

This is a FANTASTIC store. I had previously gone to another hardware store in the area, whose service was a travesty, before finding Sugar Hill Hardware--a revelation. Do not go to any other hardware store! The staff are knowledgeable, helpful and polite. The service is friendly and immediate. I highly suggest this store!

Experience: NOT GOODthese people practically conned me. I go in I ask for mattress bags (required in NYC for proper mattress disposal) I am asked what size and brought out what I assumed where mattress bags tightly folded. When I get home I open the BAGS to encase my old mattress and it turns out they sold me a long sheet of plastic paper to wrap the mattress in. Now what.. Now I need tape to tape this $#!T up on three sides when a REAL mattress bag would have gone over it and I would have only worried about sealing ONE side. $10.00 for a long plastic strip,, and strain and sweat that I could have avoided had I gone into a REAL business that does not try to FOOL people into a sale. I was so 😡😤😤 after this situation it was best for them I did not return to suffocate them with the LONG Piece of plastic they conned me into buying which caused me more work than I should have done.

I needed a spare key. I asked them to make 3, in the hopes that 1 would actually work. All three keys worked. Never in the history of key copying has this happened. Thanks guys.

I grew up in suburbia, so Ive grown to expect sprawling hardware stores with dozens of aisles and thousands of items. I wouldnt have thought this tiny shop could fit so much, but theyve been very economical with their space. This place has everything Ive ever needed: buckets, insulation, caulk, cordless drills and bits, thermometers, paint rollers, drop cloths, AC safety braces, grout removers, towel racks, screws, and much, much more. On this visit I went for paint, and while they did only have the basic colors (none of the swatches youd find in an Ace or Home Depot), they had exactly what I needed. The cost tends to be slightly higher than getting things shipped, but its always nice to have a choice of items in front of you. The staff here are super friendly and knowledgeable, and regularly approach me to ask whether I need assistance. Seems like all of them are fluent in both English and Spanish too. Definitely a must-visit for anyone in upper Manhattan who fancies themself a DIY/handy person!

All three staff members at the store when I visited were courteous and helpful. The prices for duplicate keys were very reasonable, too, compared with other locksmiths Ive worked with.

This place is the worst. Salesman assured me that the overpriced $55 hand-truck that I reluctantly coaxed into purchasing was really strong and worth the money...... when the cart became unusable 2 weeks later, they refused to return my money....I had my receipt. Store policy was in-store credit. So they forced me to take a store credit which Id rather die than use at that rip-off, joke of a ma and pa neighborhood hardware store. !!!!!!!!
