The food in this market is unclean, do NOT recommend to purchase salads or food for ready to eat. I bought this Kale Quinoa and found a piece of label on the chopped red pepper. It looks disgusting and can guess they never washed the food when preparing, not even the effort to remove the label of the ingredients. Very bad experience for eating.

Good meat selection and decent although somewhat limited selection for everything else. Service at the cash register is really hit or miss. Sometimes the cashier will put a plastic bag around my meat packages (as they should), sometimes they just scan it and not care about bagging it. I end up having meat juices from the packaging dripping into my canvas shopping bag so I have to wash it at home. They also sometimes make me turn around and go restock their shopping baskets myself after checking out.

Cannot overstate how much I love this grocery store. Since they opened, they’ve been my go-to. Their deli counter, prepared meals, meats section, alcohol variety, and overall selection is awesome and the prices are fantastic. The people who work here are so friendly and I’ve had nothing but good experiences. Huge fan and highly recommend!

Good food at reasonable prices. Target opening next door has made prices seem higher but its still relatively cheap and has much more selection than any store around.

Yesterday i went for grocery as usual and i got one Rotisserie whole chicken in warm shelf. The package seems good even i can’t see through the package very well because of light and steam but i did check an expiration date so i trust them to buy it. And this is what i’ve got...... the whole chicken all waste and full of slime mold it smell so bad. I’m so disappointed! I can’t believe they put a waste food on shelf for everyone to buy. Please be careful before you buy anything from this place. Even it’s not due to expiration date on label yet didn’t mean the food is good. And i can’t imagine if the store did relabel food for just to sell it and don’r care that customer will get waste food, that will be the worse thing they’ve done to customer.

Excellent variety of goods and a much bigger improvement from the previous location. Glad they have returned to their original location after many years. The elevators are also very helpful for the elderly and disabled that have trouble with stairs. The lower level has an immense amount of goods to choose from. Only gripes I have is the single entrance that gets crowded and difficult to navigate around at high peak business times.

Wow I bought 2 tomahawk steaks at least than $11.00 a lb a rotisserie chicken for $7.99 each 1 lb kale salad,a tiramisu cake, 2 pieces of grilled salmon all for like $100.00 dinner for 4 Ill be back tomorrow

Ive been coming since before the big move. It doubled or tripled its volume of goods but the prices seem the same. Thats 7 stars from me were it possible. Because of the decor change and relocation to a more sightly spot more consumers are attracted. Whomevers in charge knows what theyre doing.

I used to buy from Big Apple for years until the shut down due to Corvid-19 when they adopted a policy that credit cards company advise us not to do, share our Drivers license info while paying with credit card. All banks say we dont have to show our ID if a merchant asks for one( they can ask), but we dont have to show them, and they have to accept our method of payment if the card is signed, they must accept, if they refuse, we can report them to the banks. ( Just for the info BIG APPLE management). I mean for myself, I got burned several times buy some dishonest cashier, and i dont want to give a complete stranger enough info to get a loan or buy a house.

Their meat fridge is huge! Awesome place to get any meat you are needing. Usually I have to go to the Asian markets to get pork belly and spare ribs etc., but since this is in the neighborhood now, it will be my new go to. Everything looked fresh too.

I love the brand new location. So much more spacious than the previous location. Now shopping at the new Big Apple Meat Market at any time will be a pleasure. Prices might be a tad more higher than before, but they still beat Food Emporiums prices. And so glad theyre much closer to where l live. Definitely will be shopping there more frequently.

Wow simply amazing I have been a customer for many years I remember they had a location on 9th avenue this was back in 2010 and then they closed that location and opened a smaller location and now they have a huge location right on 42nd or off of 42nd and 9th avenue but still theyve always been consistent with quality food amazing prices and most important to me in my opinion is a friendly staff always helpful caring not like you know those big change supermarkets this is a very nice friendly helpful place its like a hidden gem 😉

Been coming here for a long time before and after the move up the block, when this was the meat market district, the cuts of meat are still fresh not as thick as before most likely because prices on beef and pork are st an all time high

Fully stocked clean fresh produce and meats some items over price 5lb bag of sugar almost $5 for example other then that they get a B the isles are very narrow check out is a breeze i havent had to poke a hole in the meat to make sure it was fresh unlike western beef

Big Apple Meat Market is the BOMB!!! Ive been shopping here for ten years. The meats are always fresh and plentiful the selection of fresh veggies and fruits are on point and now their deli is even bigger. Fresh food, Boards Head cold cuts, ready made salads etc. Their new location has an elevator!!! I love it!!!. I only shop at BAMM because I can find a wide selection of Latin products and the prizes are low, you cant beat that!

The reason theyve gotten a lot of customers, is their many low prices, thats their draw. Now theyre gradually raising their prices to outrageous. The entire original Fairway on 74th & Bwy was so packed with customers, all day long, it was difficult to get through the aisles packed with people and carts. The son graduates from college and comes to work for dad & opens up more stores all over, BUT removes the reason everyone came to shop there: certain storemade/homemade quality food products like Fairway 16oz Chicken Pot Pies, (& Turkey, & Sheppards Pie) the most delicious pot pie made anywhere -- 16 oz pies for $3.99 - $4.99 and they raise the price to $8.99 for the 16 oz pies. They still taste pretty great, although I believe theyve started adding the chemicals and preservatives that destroy peoples health, which never used to be in them. They were originally supplied fresh throughout the day, and disappeared for purchase just as quickly. And most of the other certain special Fairway things that kept the place packed before -- doubled in price. [I believe it was one of the older long time deli workers there who gave the owner the ideas to offer a few choice, quality, special Fairway items for a great price, that it would be a wonderful thing, and draw a huge amount of customers, so that the store would continually be packed with customers buying their products. AND I believe the owner never appreciated and properly compensated that person for his contributions, that made them so successful and prosperous, because if they did, the wisdom would not be dropped so easily.] The bottom line is: the original Fairway and all the new stores, soon had almost no customers in their entire stores EVER. And they were too stupid to get it, and figure out a way to correct the problem. If they kept those same low prices for those few select Fairway brand products, the new stores would have easily grown a huge customer base, just like the original store had. I had long since moved to Midtown West, where there were no Fairway stores nearby, or I would have striven to speak with the owners on a regular basis to save the store, but all but one of the Fairway Markets had been sold the last time I checked. Big Apple Meat Market doesnt really have any delicious specialty items like Fairway does, so if they dont drop their prices back like before, they are definitely going to end up empty all the time, too. The draw for their customer base has always been very low prices. Big Apple is even going higher for the exact same products sold by the nearby Food Emporium, whos own prices have been way too high for most items, for a long time, causing most of THEIR stores to close. Pretty new store in a new high rise is good, but the main draw has always been the low low prices. If that goes, its going to be nearly empty all the time, very quickly. The Nearby Food Emporium is Nicer and Bigger, and open from 7am-11:30pm, 7 days a week. Much Better Hours.

Clean store, nice people.Best meat market in NYC? Meh...Rib eyes were much more expensive than average. Sausage selection was mostly packaged hot or sweet italian sausages.Maybe I was expecting too much ( turkey sausages, bangers, porchetta, amazingly cheap cuts of beef). Maybe I just visited at the wrong time (Sunday night). Overall I was not displeased, just underwhelmed.

BEWARE! Although the new location is a great improvement from the former one you MUST keep an eye on the pricing. Every time I go there is at least one discrepancy between the prices marked on the packaging and the prices that the checkout people ring up.

Ordered a delivery 31jan after taking a horrendous fall - 4feb still NOT delivered after numerous lapses and excuses.

Me and my one year old son comes here and the cashier always have A nasty attitude and the supervisor when I be trying to ask a question she ignores me. Their food used to be good prices and now it’s too much money.

During the pandemic, Ive been doing my grocery shopping at small, locally owned and run businesses like Big Apple Meat Market. Its so much better than the large chain grocery stores. It seems like theyre less likely to be out of various cuts of meat compared to chains. The staff are friendly, and I like supporting local businesses. Prices have gone up in the past few months, but thats expected and its happening everywhere. The staff all wear masks, and for the most part the other customers do as well. The only downside is that its very small and crowded inside, so theres absolutely no way to keep social distance. I know thats a problem with most NYC grocery stores but its especially bad here. Overall I love this place though; Im glad to see theyre expanding to larger location further north.

Originally at 577 9th Ave, they relocated (to 529 9th Ave) a few years while a hi-rise went up at the original location. They just returned ‘Home’ to their Biggest, Best Stocked, New Market at their original 577 9th Ave (between 41st & 42nd Sts) location; with their Fantastic Staff intact. I come to this store pretty often & ive never witnessed something so uncomfortable. The cashier that’s thinks she’s the boss was yelling at Peter’s son. Also that lady is ALWAYS so rude to customers and myself. People like her shouldn’t work in customer service. If that lady doesn’t get fired I won’t be returning there..

This place is great, I’ve been shopping there since they first opened. The best meats at the best prices in Manhattan!When I saw them close down from there original location I panicked thinking it might not be the same but it is. This is one of the last gems left in NYC!

Work in in midtown? You only have a microwave at the office? General produce for your every day needs. I usual pick up mushrooms, carrots, shredded cheese and scallions. Cook some elbow macaroni in the microwave and add all the ingredients for a inexpensive alternative to mac and cheese. Budget lunch when working in midtown.

Not for gournet items, but prices cant be beat. Great prices on hamburgers, chicken, things like that, also, eggs, milk. Great Goya section. Decent produce. Superior fresh fish market 2 blocks north. I usually hit both on same trip.

Shopped here for about a year, I used to live very close to it.Prices are fine and there is a lot of variety. Meats are also good. They always have promotions for fruits. Staff is ok.

Prices better at Stiles for produce. Staff here is really nasty except for one manager and maybe a cashier might be nice to you. Overall a very unpleasant experience. I will avoid.
