A pretty standard Key Foods, with a pretty comprehensive selection of groceries. The store was semi-clean, and pretty busy for a midday Thursday trip. Some of the staff were helpful in locating some items.Covid-wise... they do not enforce any mask wearing, there were many patrons walking around either without or wearing them poorly.

All I wanted to do was exchange a can of Goya beans which cost $1.79 purchased yesterday (8/12/21) at Key Food Supermarket on 97 street. When I got home and was placing groceries away I noticed that one of the cans of Goya beans was slightly opened by the edges. I decided to return to Key Food Supermarket the next day to exchange can since it was too hot to walk back from 110 to 97 street.Next day, 8/13/21, I went with the slightly opened can of beans that cost $1.79 with my receipt in hand and was told by female manager at approximately 12:15 pm that I was supposed to return it yesterday and this manager refused to exchange. Rules & regulations. In my opinion she used poor judgment and lack of customer service. It was sad and hard for me to believe the response. I walked out of Key Food Supermarket leaving can of Goya beans and my receipt with them. And to boot it was another scorching hot day. I really didn’t want to beg to exchange for an unopened can of beans. What else was I supposed to do? All I am able to do now is NOT shop at Key Food Supermarket at 755 Amsterdam Avenue.

KEY FOOD ON 97 STREET IN MY OPINION A LOT OF OVERPRICED ITEMS. MOST ITEMS CAN BE FOUND FOR REASONABLE PRICES AT TRADER JOES. SOME OF THEIR MEAT,ESPECIALLY THE BEEF, ARE AT TIMES LEFT OUT FOR PUBLIC WHEN ITS GOING BAD.THE ONLY GOOD THING GOING FOR THIS STORE IS THAT ITS OPEN 24 HOURS.AFTER WORK I CAN PICK UP KNICK KNACKS BUT FOR MY SERIOUS SHOPPING NEEDS I GO TO TRADER JOES...

The heavy set man who stands out front is not nice at all. I had a scooter so I couldnt go deep into the store. I asked for help asking if someone could get my item while I wait in the front to pay. This man was unprofessional shouting and got very nasty refusing to accommodate me then told me to leave the store. No one else was willing to me help either, just a terrible way of running a store. I will never come back to this store ever again, this was a terrible experience. I do not recommend anyone to shop here.

I’ve been shopping here for years and the service is generally poor, but I put wirh it bc it’s convenient and the prices can be good.Today I decided to write a review because a manager was very rude to me.I saw that assorted varieties of Blue diamond almond milk were on sale, so I picked up 2 containers of the unsweetened variety. When the cashier rang them up, they were not on sale. The manage came over and said that “only the ones with the blue caps are on sale, and those have yellow.” I said that the little sign said all varieties. He said it didn’t and insisted they were not on sale.I decided that I didn’t want to purchase them at full price, and he seemed angry. He said in a mocking tone, “you read that sign real good didn’t you” as if I was trying to trick the cashier. I repeated that the sign had said assorted varieties, and the manager insisted it didn’t. One of the other cashiers tried to help me and said kindly, “Oh, it’s not sweetened, that’s why it’s not on sale.” I felt very humiliated and insulted by this man.Later on I went to check and indeed the sign said “assorted varieties except with banana.”I’ve attached the photo. Not only did the manager insult me by implying I was somehow trying to cheat the store or lie, he was completely wrong.

This grocery is sub par on a good day. But now its plain awful. No social distancing protocols are being followed by customers or staff. Way too packed inside, people leaning across each other at the check out lines. Total S**t show. COVID case numbers are going up everywhere, and places like this are helping those numbers climb. Someone needs to take a look at this place and start some enforcement.

On the 20th of July, 2019, I went into the Key Food store on 744 Amsterdam Ave and I saw that Arnold Whole Grains Bread was on sale, so I picked up 2 unites of the very variety pictured in the sales post. Let me state clearly that I don’t like to give New York City stores bad press over this sort of issue because I generally appreciate the struggles of bargain supermarkets in the city, particularly Manhattan. But the lack of a response from Key Food corporate begs this response. On that date, when the cashier rang up the 2 units of bread, she stated a pice of over 9 dollars. I informed her of the sale and then she quoted a price of nearly 5 dollars. I explain to her of the 2 for 1 sale and she told me that the 2nd price she quoted me was the right price. I showed her the units that were clearly marked $2.50 in neon reddish round stickers and she told me I was wrong and summoned the manager, who stated that the sale only applies to “Healthy Multi-Grain” and I held up 1 of the 2 units that clearly indicated “Healthy Multi-Grain” and emphasized that this was the exact product as indicated in the picture, and reiterated that the prices were clearly marked as described above in this message. He rambled on about not being able to sell it at the posted price and offer and insisted that I must pay the price that the items were, in his estimation, supposed to be priced at. I informed him that he was supposed to sell at the posted price and not supposed to be changing prices at the counter. He became a bit angry and rudely demanded that I accede to his method of reasoning. He then went to pull the posted ad off the shelf and I told him I’d need to snap a picture for my company, which reimburses me for meals. I also got a picture of the items with the prices marked and would be glad to share them with you or on the review sites mentioned above. As I’ve stated, I hate to give local NYC grocers a hard time, especially in the value for price sector, but when the manager started being belligerent and rude, I felt as if I was being humiliated and insulted in front of everyone.I reported this exchange to the Key Food complaint website and I couldn’t locate that store on your dropdown list. Nor could I post images to corroborate my claims (they are posted here). In any case, after an automated email reply, I’ve not yet heard back from the company and I hope this review will serve to put the leadership at that store on notice that I, like the early reviewers, are not shy about airing our complaints to either corporate or the public.

They may have great deals on produce and meats sometimes, but they cheat your money at each turn they can. Ive only lived in the area for 2 months, and Ive already had 3 instances where I was charged more money than the price tag said.1) First time it was on a pasta that was on sale, but I got charged the full price.2) Second time I bought an onion, a vegetable everyone knows and thats relatively cheap, but I got charged for a bell pepper, which was more than double the price. Come on, who confuses an onion with a bell pepper? That second time I caught it while I was still in the shop, but I had already inserted the card when I noticed, and there was no way to cancel the transaction on my side, and they didnt do it either. I insisted and I was returned the money on a separate transaction.3) The third time, I have hurted my feet, so Ive used Instacart to order from there. Really, I only shop there because meat at Trader Joes and Wholefoods is just too expensive. I bought, among other things, an iceberg lettuce. It said $0.99 each, and my instacart bill also says very very clearly $0.99. Guess what? I was charged $1.99 on my receipt. It really makes me think that either their management/staff is not honest and tries to overcharge people on small things to make bank... or the staff is so so badly trained that they make mistakes all the time. Look at other peoples comments, and Im not the only person that this happens to. Ill continue shopping here while I live in the UWS because WholeFoods is just not an option and TJs lines are absurd, but MAKE SURE YOURE CHECKING YOUR RECEIPT BEFORE PAYING. In my experience, 1/3 times they make a mistake or sneak you an extra couple of dollars.

Very expensive!!!! It seems to me that the prices for the same item in this store is much higher than in another Key Food in a lower income neighborhood. I went to check out if my theory was right and it was. The box of cereal at this store on west 96th street and Amsterdam Ave was $6.99 and at the other Key Food on 171st and Saint Nick was $4.99. If thats not price gouging because of the certain neighborhood its in I dont know of a better example then that. SHAME ON YOU KEY FOODS!! Trader Joes doesnt do that. The prices for an apple in Colorado are the same here in NYC. I will never go back to Key Foods ever again. I hope that people read this before wasting your money at these stores. Im almost positive that they arent the only chain of supermarkets that are guilty of doing this.

This store has a large variety of food products available, however, this store is extremely crowded and cramped so if you must come here then come with a plan to get in and out as quick as possible. There will always be someone bumping into you and one of the lanes for checkout is so small that you cant fit even a small shopping cart through it. The sandwiches are great but I have my favorite guy who makes it perfect. Other than the space and inability to casually shop, I would recommend this store.

I live in this area. 97th st and central park west and Ive been shopping here for the past 9 and half years. this supermarket always hire the rudest associate. majority of their cashier are and as if we are the one who filled the job applications for them. they are very unprofessional, very rude and the store itself is very expensive compare to all the others. one thing, they place products in the wrong place all the time, and they do not mark the price on the shelves (prime example bread) some has the price and some doesnt have the price. I realized after I arrived at the cashier the bread that I once bought for $3.99 today its $4.99 in less than 30 days. and the cashier called Kristal very rude had the audacity to tell me every customer that goes in their store goes to her to ask her for the price of the item when I asked her why theres no price tag on bread and why even the shelve doesnt have the price? She simply and proudly said every customer come here to me to ask me for the price. Who would believe that every customer that enters this store goes to her to ask her for the price of unmarked products? Please improve your service. before hiring your associate, please think about your customers. Paying them cheap doesnt meant you will have to hire people that dont want to be at work. If they decided to fill out that job application, they got to be ready to work and act professional regardless of their life situation because we all have one.
