Beautifully layed out bookshop. Friendly staff. There are plenty of fabulous books to choose from. Two level of books but they also sell various things. Look up when you’re there to admire the hanging books. Check this place out when you are in the Soho area!

One of my favorite bookstores of all time. Curated and presented beautifully; clearly created by people who truly love books. Unfortunately since Covid the cafe is no longer there but it may be reopened outdoors in the future according to the staff. Highly recommended as a place for any reader to enjoy (plus they have wonderful stationery and other gift items).

This is by far my favorite book store in NYC. There’s SO much thought put into the layout of the store. There are so many highlighted books from staff recommendations. They also do a really good job of highlighting different genres (new in metaphysics?? Incredible) to try and get people out of their reading comfort zone. They have a pretty big bargain section which is great and a very nice card and journal section in addition to their amazing book selection!

Cozy bookstore with a wide selection of genres to choose from. I spent a couple hours here reading some great books on history and economics. Found a favorite of mine by the great Thomas Sowell as well.Staff here are friendly and willing to help. I had one help me look for an incorrectly shelved book that I was hoping to find!I heard there used to be a cafe here, however it seems to have been converted into a stationary section of the store. Theres not too much seating unfortunately, but people come and go pretty quick, so its pretty easy to wait for one of the seats on the bottom level to open up.

I love this bookstore! They capture a sense of wonder that you don’t find in many bookstores. You can tell that their book choices are so well thought out and curated. They also have a great magazine section with a range of mainstream magazines to more under the radar magazines. They also have a cute little cafe inside and a great journals section! All around lovely and inspiring place. Best place to go if you’re in a funk and need to feel inspired by the endless possibilities of the world.

THE bookstore in NYC, IMO. You can lose yourself in here for a long, long time. The selection is both current and esoteric. They have well-chosen selection for so many topics - art, film, lit, fiction, kids. Also theres a wonderful double rack of hard to find periodicals. ( I could spend an hour at that, easily).I guarantee you will find something that will surprise and delight in this bookstore!Prices are fine. They also have a big sale selection downstairs and in kiosks out front.Theres a little coffee shop / cafe in one corner of the store. Perfect spot to get out of the crush of Soho. Small bites and coffees.Staff in this store is super helpful and very nice.

I received a gift card to this place which brought me there and I really enjoyed my time leafing through trying to decide what to leave with. The staff are exceptionally nice and helped me sift through the sheer multitude of books they carry. I felt right at home in the stacks, and they carry a large selection of international authors as well which I appreciated!

I came across this place during a recent visit to NYC while walking around in SOHO. It was a real surprise to find a place like this in the middle of all the expensive brand name stores in the area. This is one of the best bookstores I have visited - great collection, well laid out and wonderful staff picks with thoughtful comments. Make sure to spend time in the basement as well.

In my search of the independent bookstore, from a time when travel was easier, I found this one and sat and drank the coffee and enjoyed a bite much needed. I remember just watching the silent smiles and serious expression of the quiet searchers in the store at the time and I enjoyed it as much as the good book, that I had discovered there at the time. Such a relaxing venture and so many things to offer over the books that they carry. It was a feeling to me I will never forget with enjoyment, even for the rest of my weary feet. Support your independent bookstores and this one another great one to do just that. My name is Roger Browning, the author of The Reckoning of Rance. Now available at amazon.

One of my favorites and true to its tagline -- independent booksellers in Soho. A cozy spot to grab a book, order a coffee, and read or just relax in the cafe, if youre lucky enough to snatch a spot. No wifi (or outlets in plain sight) so not a place to take your conference calls, but that makes it all the more special as a place to unplug and bury yourself in a new favorite novel.

Really nice book store. there are three levels and a very diverse selection of books. The owners are clearly making an effort to stock more than the best sellers. Make sure to head to the back and look at the translated works, as they have a fantastic international selection. Some of the selection leans more literary than consumer, but Im sure you could find something that suits your fancy. Keep in mind that there is a cafe in the front of the book store, and a calendar of great author events!

One of my most frequent visiting bookstores in the city. Love the staffers’ book recommendations and displays of the latest books. McNally’s selection is quite broad (no problem finding what I’m looking for), has several seating area when you’re browsing or doing light reading, and a coffee shop within the bookstore (naturally restroom too in the basement). They also hold free book signing events regularly that are fun to check out. A gem in the fun neighborhood for book shopping.

McNally Jacksons cafe is a really good work environment where everyone around you is focused and personally that makes me more focused, me and my friend went today and shared a large pot of tea for six dollars and they also have baked goods we worked really well there and got more done than we would have at our house and plan on going again soon. I would highly recommend going to McNally Jackson, in adition to the small cafe it is a very versatile and large book store with a kids and teen section as well. Check it out!

McNally Jackson is a real book store - the kind we need more of - quality quality quality & they maintain a great series of book release events & conversations with authors. You will not be disappointed with the staffs knowledge or the selection. They also have a small cafe now.For those of you who live in the burbs & find public transportation just too long or distant from your doorstep - you probably already know that the secret to New York driving is arrive places at 5:45 or 6:45 pm depending on the block. Prince street & surrounding blocks are not that challenging to park on if you time your arrival to 6:45 as spaces all become legal at 7:00 pm and there are also several blocks of the avenues that are legal 1 & 2 hour pay parking zones .
