Lovely bookstore. It’s actually quite large inside with a separate downstairs that is mainly a children’s section. Loads of books of every shape and size and flavor. They also carry some great non-book items as well like, tote bags, magnets, stationery, wrapping paper, and Strand gear. We found some Harry Potter themed magnets and a great unlined journal. We would highly recommend this place!

Smaller version of their flagship. Good selection of books. Not too crowded most times. Can be a bit more pricey than alternative stores. 2 floors to check out books. Great location to explore and enjoy.

Great selection of books from new to loved (used). Prices are fair. The staff there is extremely friendly and more than willing to help you locate a specific book or series in their stock or place an order for it. They also have great recommendations based on the genre that you prefer. The place is also very well lit and clean. Perfect to peruse the various books on their shelves.

Absolutely love this place!! it’s so clean and the music they play is so nice and soothing and creates a really cozy vibe! my parents and grandparents who usually get really annoyed whenever i spend hours in bookstores and make them wait for me, absolutely adore this place and love coming here with me! the staff is also so sweet and friendly and extremely helpful. the books are well organized and the size of the bookstore is very convenient because it’s small enough to not be overwhelming and make it easy to find stuff but also big enough that there’s a little something for everyone and it’s a comfortable shopping experience! also love the strand merchandise of course hahah i love the leather bookmarks even though they’re kinda pricey!

Very well organized, great book selections in all domains covered. What a cool counterpoint to their original used book store, which is more like a bargain store of classics and special finds. The food section also contains some (real, edible) condiments, a fun and original touch.

I love any bookstore and this small one was nice. Some of the books displayed I have already read reviews on. A topic for each taste plus mugs, bookmarks, calendars and other things. There are two floors in the store. The staff was helpful. I think if I get a chance to go back Im coming with money to buy some books. And a few knick knacks.

I love the downtown STRAND. The uptown store, 450Columbus Ave. is smaller, but newer, cleaner, brighter and less condensed. It feels nice to walk in to. Super helpful staff are great. And there even their famous deep discount racks where youll find who-knows-what for a dollar, or 2 or 3.Visit this place! Buy books here! Nyc needs stores like this to remain desirable.

Quite possibly my favorite book store. Not as overwhelming or overcrowded as the main Strand, well curated and close by for me. I love to come here!

The samller and slightly more upscale version of the beloved Union square booskstore. Still a great place to find some good books, but mostly the newer and latest publications - based on what I could seeP.S: The offer shipping if you want to buy a gift for friends living out of state :)

The Strand is a NYC Crown Jewel; we have to keep it alive if we love the in-person bookstore experience (like I do!!) I like the flagship store down below Union Square best of all—-it has such a history and the space is so evocative of the power of books in peoples lives!—-but yay for Strand #2 on the UWS as well!

Not as expansive as the Union Square location, but still great. A good selection of books and merchandise. The downstairs section has a space for young children to run around a bit.
