After an unsuccessful trip to a liquor store on St. Charles that was unexpectedly closed;(should have called first) we walked through the rain to Avenue Cafe. First trip there for myself and my friend. It was very clean inside. We each had a pineapple ginger smoothie. She had the caprese’ sandwich which the person behind the counter said was on white bread (it was more of a whole wheat) and cafe au lait. I went with a chai latte’ and the granola with Greek yogurt and fresh fruit. At this time they are not offering inside seating, but there were two small cafe tables for two against the building and protected from the rain; as well as three larger picnic tables with umbrellas. We sat at one of the former and stayed dry; although, it was raining pretty steadily. My granola was sweetened with honey and the fresh fruit was exactly that- fresh! My friend said her caprese sandwich was good-definitely praise from someone who recently returned from Italy. The baked goods in the dessert case all looked delicious. Perhaps next time.

Food was ok. Experience was not. I called ahead and the guy answered the phone by saying saying HELLO. I wasnt sure I had reached the right place. Are dogs allowed near open food in this town? Shouldnt the team Wear gloves and masks while preparing food? Maybe they were just busy but I was not impressed with the service, one of the 2 items that we received was good. Will. Not return.

Stopped into Avenue Cafe on St Charles a couple of times while traveling in New Orleans. They offer great tasting coffee and I loved the morning glory breakfast bread as well! Cheerful and kind employees gave a warm greeting each morning and delivered my coffee and bread to the seating area rather than calling out that it was ready. The atmosphere inside is clean and comfortable plus they offer sidewalk patio seating.I typically enjoy finding new places to get coffee each morning while traveling but I had such a great experience with the coffee and staff that I came back multiple times. Bonus: they give out neat Avenue Cafe stickers. 6/5 stars, outstanding cafe!

This little place is WONDERFUL! All fresh from scratch pastries, fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juices and excellent coffee. I purchased the morning glory bread(full of flavor and delicious), coconut mango scone(delicious), maple bacon sweet potato biscuit(o.m.g 😋 I could have eaten a dozen), cinnamon hazelnut cruffin(a delicious, buttery croissant/muffin baby). My definite go to place anytime I go back to New Orleans!!!❤

Customers are not allow to sit or wait inside. This makes it difficult especially since it is a coffee shop. There isn’t any plugs outside to charge hour computer if needed. You are literally sitting at a table on a sidewalk. Owner wouldn’t even let you sit inside if you are vaccinated.

This is a space that is dear to my heart. My kids and I would go here everyday after-school in 2nd grade...they are now in 7th and 6th. So u can imagine the warm feeling I felt when I wanted to take their younger brother. We walked in no one gave eye contact or said hello. A greeting sets the tone for the type of space your in. I was disappointed so I walked out and walked into smoothie king and the greeting was there but I did not want a smoothie. So I said thank you for the greeting and walked back to the avenue Cafe still no greeting and a little eye contact....so at this point I said is this space still owned by the same person, and the lady near the counter said huh since when yes I think....I said I ask because I would come in everyday after school with my kids and it was a kinder more welcoming space. I walked in twice but was never given a greeting ...I am not sure if I was the color of my skin or whatever but not everything is about race somethings are about hospitality. The lady said I am sorry we were all working...this is no excuse because it my money or the money of the consumers that keel you busy. But she was respectfully and I ordered my food which was delicious the turkey spinach sandwich and carrot apple juice.....with a muffin. Service was great but never time I hope the greeting can match the service.

Its a good coffee shop (and New Orleans has plenty good coffee shops) but first, it has delicious almond croissants (better than most coffee shops) as well as molasses cookies, and second, it makes fresh juices to order like beet, carrot and apple, or use pineapple instead ... you can mix and match how you want. All reasonable priced (unlike WholeFood). Also makes sandwiches and acai bowls like typical cafes. But I really go for the juices and fresh baked croissants on premise.

You can have made to order freshly squeezed orange juice or even a Mimosa! There are a variety of options to wet the palette. Also, you should try any of the many food options available. I was a fan of this place when I was in New Orleans in 2013. I cant speak about the black coffee, but they made the best White Mocha iced coffee Ive had, sweet and creamy. Ive since changed my diet and switched to black coffee, but I loved that stuff. They have the best quality food options of any cafe Ive been to in CT, NY, LA, CO, and CA so far. Apple goat cheese scones. Sandwiches with quality meats and artisan cheeses. The best quality cinnamon rolls Ive ever had, an orange flavored one I miss to this day.The owners are the friendliest Ive met, offering to let me borrow their personal coffee books, and on my last day in New Orleans after living their for years, gave me food and coffee on the house.

I brought my niece to the avenue cafe because it is very similar in style and atmosphere to her coffee houses in Portland,Oregon. She was very happy with the variety of organic juices and vegan food options. The staff was very friendly and readily answered any menu questions. The food was brought out very quickly and was made to order. I had a little problem with The latte not being warm enough for me, but the management were very fast to provide excellent customer service to rectify The issue. I would go back again even with all The construction going on St. Charles Avenue. The Avenue Cafe is cozy and casual. The laid back vibe of the staff and decor lends itself to people working on laptops, having a quick bite, and just stopping by to have coffee and conversation. The family-friendly layout allows kids to be active, but not distracting to other customers. I didnt feel rushed to eat and run. Good job and thats why they received 4 stars.
