Absolutely worth the wait. It was a 30 minute wait on a Saturday morning but the food was so good! I got the vegan breakfast plate with a side of vegan pancakes (had blueberries in them). Definitely the best vegan pancakes and Ive tried a lot. Boyfriend got the brisket hash with an egg in a basket. He said its the best breakfast hes ever had. Super filling. For like $35 for the two breakfast entrees, side of pancakes, and coffee, its a ton of food.
Great food with delicious vegan options. Delicious coffee. Good kind service. I got the cat head biscuit but subbed the crawfish sauce for mushroom gravy. The biscuit was delicate and buttery. The gravy had great flavor and the chicken was fried perfectly, also huge. My cousin (who’s vegan) loved the vegan biscuits with mushroom gravy. THE POTATOES...GET THEM!!!!! Would def recommend and go back next time I’m visiting.
Cannot say how great my experience here was. At first, I did not want to wait to be seat as I was very hungry, but very glad I did!Trey was our server and he was absolutely amazing! We were on vacation and he told us all about all the cool, hidden gems of the city. He made sure we were well taken care of. Trey definitely deserves credit for great customer service!Vegan food was amazing!! Hands down, one of the most flavorful vegan breakfasts Ive ever had! I definitely want to visit again!
Loved this place. Had quite the wait but glad we stayed. Staff was incredibly friendly and the food was amazing!! I had the Brisket Hash and I was not disappointed. The gem of my meal was the pancakes. Breakfast and dessert all in one. They taste like a mix between pancakes and beignets. Definitely recommend!! Overall great place however some of their items are a bit expensive. Plus they have this weird 4% charge they add to your bill and if you are with a party larger than 4 they add in 20% gratuity automatically. Staff was really nice so not mad about the gratuity but if your going with a larger group it can add up fast.
One of the best brunch meals I’ve ever had. The biscuits were so soft and buttery. They cut them and crisp them on a flat top. The short rib hash was the best hash I’ve ever had. Loved the egg in the hole toast as well. The latte was perfection. 10/10 recommend!
Wish I had photos, but I inhaled my food. The salmon toast was delicious, especially paired with the side of grits. Would definitely eat there again to try more of the menu
First time here, I will be back. Friend came in from out of town and I suggested here as it was on my list to go eat. 10/10 highly recommend. Staff were very friendly. I knew 2 of them from waaay back when! Casey (sp?) Waited on us and helped us out.My Bearcat breakfast and ginger thyme lemonade hit the spot. Went on a Saturday morning 830am. There was a 20-30 min wait time As expected. And very well worth it! The bison sausage, pancakes, eggs, potatoes were AMAZING. Wait for the food was not long at all. Ambiance was excellent. Everything was just great. Also the green Tabasco was the right touch on my food. I favor it heavily. Crystal was a close second. Thank you all for the wonderful experience! Please visit this Cafe! Also looks like outside was dog friendly as well. Next time!
There are so many tasty things on the menu, its hard to choose just one meal. The Rhum Punch was unique(made with condensed coconut milk 😋) and tasty, while everything else was equally delicious and uniquely flavored. The Chai Pancake were more of a crepe texture than pancake,, buy absolutely no complaints...Ill be back.
This place is a must try! After not having great luck finding breakfast in N.O., I was so happy we chose to give this place a shot. 20 min wait and our table was ready. We sat outside, which was nice and comfortable. Trai, or waiter, was nothing short of amazing. He made some great suggestions, starting with the fresh squeezed orange juice. I had Smores Pancakes and grits. So very good! The atmosphere was very nice and the restaurant itself was well kept. I wish there was a Bearcat near home! Hope to return!
This restaurant serves some of the best food in New Orleans. The last time I went for brunch I ordered the Cat Momma Biscuit and I swear it was one of the best meals Ive had in my life. We arrived at 11:00am and had to wait for over an hour to be seated. The wait didnt bother me because the food is absolutely worth it. However, Im giving Bearcat only four stars because its almost unbearable actually eat inside the restaurant. The interior is open to the kitchen and its all exposed metal and wood. While attractive, theres nothing to absorb sound. Its nearly impossible to have a conversation with anyone at your table. I suggest eating outside or getting your meal to go.
The food here was amazing, was looking for a late breakfast place and this definitely hit the spot. We both ordered the bad cat breakfast, and to say it was good is an understatement. From the pancakes to the eggs down to the crispy potatoes, it was delicious. If you really wanna have the full experience then get one of the juices or teas they make in-house. Definitely made my trip.
Very inviting restaurant, customer service was great. Far as the meal the best part for me personally were the fried potatoes. Unfortunately no jalapeños (pickled only) so couldn’t spice them up to my desire. The shrimp and grits didn’t really do it for me. The OJ was definitely refreshing and the bloody mary mix seemed to be well for the wife.
Delicious vegan restaurant (and Im not vegan). Good, friendly service, lively venue...seems to be the IT spot for younger set but u see sprinkles of varying age groups. I had the breakfast potatoes w/scrambled eggs w/vegan cheese sauce...delish. There was an order of the crab cakes, chicken sandwich (on bad cat side of menu lol) & a breakfast w/blueberry pancakes...everything was great. Downside to this VERY POPULAR spot...Very looooong wait times so be prepared; others seem to not mind & this not a rare occurrence...all I say is be prepared. Its worth it tho👍.
Would not recommend take out from here. Quality of the food is great but packaging is abysmal. Add to that an unavoidable 20% gratuity even for take out is inexplicable. If you sit in the restaurant the same gratuity would be charged if you had a party of 6, so take out definitely seems to be overpriced and poorly presented.
Absolutely loved this place! Friendly, amazing service and the food was everything you could hope for in Nola!
Best vegan brunch around!I love coming here for brunch. Most of the time when Im down in New Orleans I make sure to attempt to come here. I have tried everything on the good cat menu (vegan) and I cant say enough about how good it is. One of the few restaurants that is worth the wait.
It was Awesome, I want to go back and try other items. I had a Bison burger and the crab dip. I tasted whatever vegan stuff my wife ordered and it was Great! Vegan or not the food is Good.
This is not an all vegan establishment. I swung by this location on Sunday after craving biscuits and gravy. Everything on the table is vegan aside from the latte and potentially the mimosa. Pictured is quesadilla, breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, and pancake.Mimosa - Your normal bubbly with fresh squeezed oj.Breakfast Potatoes - This brings the addictive crispy potatoes up to another notch. The sauce brings tartness. The pico brings freshness to cut through all the starch. And avocado to give a bit of creaminess. This was really good but I think I like the crispy potatoes as is.Blueberry pancake - This comes with vegan butter and vegan syrup. I was mind blown that I didn’t have to specify that. Much thanks to my server on that day. I’m not a huge fan of pancake to be honest, but I definitely loved this one. The batter wasn’t too dense and the blueberries makes it bright. Spread some butter on it and bathe it in syrup and it’s pancake heaven. Also if you’re anything like me, you can order one single pancake which is what I did.Biscuits and Gravy - Oh my goodness. I’ve missed biscuits so much since I’ve gone vegan. Someone on here warned me about the hefty amount of scallions that comes on it and yeah that is a lot. I scraped most of it off. Creamy sauce with the right amount of savory. Tender biscuit but not soggy.I didn’t try the quesadilla since I figured it’s the same as the breakfast burrito I had a couple of days earlier and while that was good I won’t be getting it again. This location has a larger vegan menu than the CBD location. Remember that if you come on a Sunday to be prepared to wait so don’t wait until you’re hungry to arrive or else you’ll give your lunch date hangry attitude.
We came here for Lunch and it was excellent. I’m vegan and my husband is not, and this place had a wide array of options for both of us. I ordered the vegan ranchero with tofu - it was super flavorful, healthy, and filling. The side of potatoes were some of the crispiest and best we’ve had. My husband loved his chai pancakes and hot chicken biscuit. Excellent service and food.
One of my best breakfast experiences! The flavors were explosive with spices and flavor. Everything was cooked to perfection. And the variety of drinks you can find in a rainbow of colors right when you walk in the door was a great start. Literally the OJ (Valencia Juice) was the best version of that I have ever had!
The food and service was fantastic. The prices were great for the amount of food given and the London Fog latte I got was delicious. I really look forward to returning to try more delicious food.
The wait was well worth it. The place was a little warm and my coffee didnt help me stay cool. I had the basic Bearcat breakfast (white boy breakfast). The eggs were cooked just right and the potatoes were delicious. Daughter had brisket hash and she loves. Wife had some kind of breakfast biscuit and was very happy. Will definitely come back. Recommend going by and leaving your name. It can be an hour wait.
Great food, but they dont take reservations which is annoying as hell. Would love to go again but i value my time
Great option to go with a small group for brunch. Prices are a bit in the higher side but considering how its in a touristy area, its not a surprise. Ive been here at least 3 times with my friends and the food is usually good. Be prepared to wait as it can get a bit busy especially with the limited seats available
Looking for something different for a lunch date with the lady and instead of just riding and looking I googled places to eat uptown and bearcat was one so made RSVP and shall I say presentation service all the way down to the water was great had the porkchop tht exploded with flavor in my mouth like some random orgasm superb!!!
So. Dang. Delicious. Its popular so dont be in a hurry. All my brunch take-out orders have been perfect.
We got take-out service today and it was delicious. Tried the house-made yogurt, the ricotta & lavash, and the black bean & mushroom burger. OMG!!! It hit the spot...like a pro. Ate it too fast to take pics. ;-) Everything was SO delicious. Washed it all down with the mango lemonade and the raspberry green tea. THANK YOU! I cant wait to come back and stay for a while.
Im leaving fully satisfied! Im vegan and my gf is not so it was nice to find a place that catered to both of diets. I ordered the fried cauliflower and queso/chips with a side of blueberry pancakes...EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. Trey was our server and he was very pleasant and accommodating to us. I def would come back again! Excellent service and excellent food❤❤
Fabulous food, friendly service. The wait is well worth it. As a Celiac it felt and was absolutely safe to eat there.
Drinks were great- we went for lunch and had the blackberry bramble.Service was excellent. One of the best shrimp and grits Ive ever had. Amazing crab croquettes.30 min wait on a Friday afternoon.
I had a pretty great experience here! Given how areas similar to this typically have horrible parking, it was actually surprisingly easy to make it work here. The restaurant is close to a free lot and there is plenty of places to park on the street (visitors be careful to read all the signs before you park!)Despite being very busy, my boyfriend and I were able to get a table on the patio within 20 minutes by a very friendly wait staff. The menu has a TON of gluten free, paleo, vegetarian, and vegan options available and the staff if very accommodating.Whatever you do, ORDER THE CRISPY POTATOES!!!! They were out of this world.I am only giving 4 stars instead of five because our waitress kept forgetting to bring out my iced coffee order and when she did bring it out, she used the wrong milk (I don’t drink dairy and paid extra for almond milk.) Other than that small mishap, pretty good experience! I’d come back again for sure.
Its not for nothing that theres always a line outside the door at this place. This is one of my favorite breakfast places in town! The food is delicious! They have some hearty dishes, but also some healthy ones. I had the caveman paleo breakfast, which was stunning. And apart from the food, the service was excellent! I highly recommend this spot!
Bearcat features a varied menu with many healthy choices (including plant-based choices) and something for everyone. Prices are reasonable, but not inexpensive. We hope to visit again.
We found Bearcat Cafe via Instagram and decided to give it a try and let me tell you we were not disappointed at all! First we tried the Uptown location which has a little outdoor patio spot to enjoy eating outside (which we live for). We ordered the Bearcat breakfast which has now become our usual because it is just so good and I love the grits too! So yummy! Our server Trai was so awesome! He got to talking to us and in telling him how much we enjoyed being outside he told us to check out Bearcats other location which is in the CBD because they have a larger outdoor area that he knew we would love. A few weeks later we returned to the Uptown location, had a different server, but Trai came up to our table and remembered speaking with us prior and little details that we were really surprised by! If you ever go here, ask for him! He truly is the best! The following week, we took his advice on trying out the CBD location and he was right! We LOVED the outdoor area and our server Moira was just as awesome as he is! Ask for her too! I dont know where Bearcat finds these servers but they are just great! So welcoming and attentive! Moira recommended that we try the donut of the day which was a Churro donut and OMG it was delicious, I honestly couldve ate three if I allowed myself! I know this review is long but if you take anything from it, let it be that Bearcat Cafe (both locations) is a GREAT place to enjoy not only the food and the atmosphere but also the service! 10/10 would recommend!
Well worth the wait, friendly staff and great customer service. Our waitress Haley was awesome along with the hostess. The food was delicious along with the cocktails: Brazilian milk punch, bloody Mary and and non alcoholic beverages berry hibiscus strawberry lemonade. Appetizers fried street corn and crawfish croquettes along with the shrimp and crabmeat pasta and the hot chicken sandwich oh and the buttermilk pancakes
Long line for Saturday lunch. Hot sun with no place to wait. If you want lunch, try elsewhere. Wish I knew what the food was like.
This is a really neat brunch area! Wish I had more time to explore their menu due to its vastness. I got a pretty basic plate but was very satisfied with the flavor of everything
This was fantastic! Arrived at 11:30am for Brunch on a rainy Wednesday and the wait was about 30 minutes, but definitely worth it. Big portions, good drinks, and good service! Popular spot and I could see why.
Surprisingly poor service, especially if you’re trying to pick up. There are definitely better places on Freret
Sunday brunch is really busy so expect to wait for tables. Service was great, helpful with suggestions and specials, and super fast. Every dish we had was delicious and definitely recommended to anyone. They have an extensive menu for gluten free, vegan, and paleo options. Great spot for breakfast, lunch or brunch if youre in the area.
The most spacious and gracious cafe Ive ever been too. The wait staff were all pleasant and the atmosphere can either be your place for college hangouts or a nice family brunch. I highly recommend the hot chicken best chicken sandwich ever!!! They are mostly know for their tea and coffee which I will definitely try on my next visit.
Great gluten free and vegan options, and I love a place that does milk alternative specialty coffee drinks and kombucha!!
Picked up breakfast from their catering menu for my daughters bridesmaids luncheon. The food was fabulous and the manager, Edwin, and staff were very attentive to our needs. Will definitely be back!! Thank you, Bearcat Cafe!
There was plenty of side street parking around 9:00AM. Wait was about 15 minutes at the time. We got the bad cat with the vegan option. Pancakes, eggs and vegan Patty were all good. The potatoes were extremely spicy. Would suggest ordering without seasoning if you dont do well with spicy food. I liked it but my girlfriend had a hard time with it and didnt eat the potatoes. Other than that, pretty good breakfast spot.
Not my choice in dining but it was ok. The wait was more time than quoted. The inside is small. The server (didnt get his name) was just ok. He only had a 3 table section, but wasnt very attentive. The croquettes from the starter menu were so good it should come as a meal and not just 2 small Patties. The bottled fresh juice was also a hit. There are a lot of vegetarian and vegan options as well as Bison for the meat eaters. Overall I wasnt super impressed and I wouldnt necessarily recommend it to my friends. Including the tip we easily spent $100.
Well, I thought I found the best thing I’d ever eaten yesterday in New York and today, I may have literally eaten those words. This meal was out of this world good. And totally vegan!!!Pictured is the Vegan Bearcat Breakfast. It has a tofu scramble, crispy potatoes and black bean sausage. It comes with the pairing option of a vegan pancake, which of course I did. Talk about wow!Definitely going back, possibly even mañana. 😎
Just had breakfast here. Hibiscus tea, and Black bean Habanero. Really tasty...just a little too much beans. Get some yall!
We made it to Bearcat for breakfast on our last morning in New Orleans. The portions are generous and the food is amazing! We had a London fog, vegan Bearcat with pancakes(they were blueberry which reminded us of home in Michigan) and the vegan Rancheros. We also snagged a blackberry lemonade for the road. The biggest takeaway from NOLA has been that the food is on another level. Thanks for ending our stay off with a bang!! Even saw a black cat sitting outside as we left. Hahaha
Worth the wait since they are not open on Monday. Went there yesterday and was saddened but was extremely anxious to get there Tuesday. Great food. Great staff. Vietnamese Creole fusion. The presentation and everything was excellent. Fresh squeezed juice. Great coffee. Egg in a hole(OMG). Go there please.
D e l i c i o u s . I got the breakfast biscuit, my brother got the hot chicken sandwich. I cant eat a ton in one sitting, so the smaller size biscuit sandwich was perfect for me (and the bison sausage was TASTY). The chicken sandwich was a BEAST that required two sittings to eat and was also delectable. Their kombucha is made in-house and also delicious! Five outta five stars for this phenomenal lil brunch spot!
We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious breakfasts at Bearcat!! The soft shell crab biscuit breakfast (from the specials menu) was absolutely phenomenal and bursting with flavor, as were the shrimp and grits! The kids loved their pancakes and the Bearcat breakfast, as well as the brisket hash (not pictured). Topped off with some great coffee, we thoroughly enjoyed our late breakfast on the patio. As we saw the lunch dishes make their way out, we decided we needed to come back to try them out as well before we leave!
Bearcat is in my NOLA top 5. The food is delicious everytime. The potatoes alone are enough to battle other restaurants, then you bring in the pancakes the sausage the hash.. all of their dishes are spectacularly good.If you get a chance to sit at the counter, youll get to see a very efficient kitchen make perfect dishes one after the other. The service is great the food is delicious. Not much more to it.
Food was great. A bit salty but delicious. Service was great. Grits and scallops were amazing. Crab croquettes and crab dip are fan faves. The farro bowl could use some work. Had an intense amount of almonds and the carrots are a bit burnt.
Great place with exceptional staff. Very cute and comforting atmosphere. The kitchen is open behind the bar. I loved being there, felt like I was a part of things. All I had was the short stack and cold brew, which were both really great. I will update when I go back.
Vegan friendly and the food is so good. I was visiting New Orleans and was able to visit here due to there being limited vegan restaurants (in most cities). Will definitely visit again when in town
Giving 3 starts because the service was SUPER slow. It took them more than 10 minutes to bring us water, and that was after I called over the hostess. The chai tea latte and caramel latte were great. The food was good but we just wished the tofu scramble wasnt as greasy. There was oil just floating on the plate. Other than that the potatoes and black bean sausages were good. Next time, we will probably explore other brunch options though.
This was so good. The menu accommodates vegan diners, gluten free needs, and carnivores alike. A lot of seafood options, too. Its usually very difficult to find a breakfast to get excited about, but Im looking forward to going again.
There is a bit of a wait to be seated but the food kept me coming back for two days. The atmosphere was to die for and the food will knock you off your feet🥰. I will definitely be back on my next trip to Nola. Staff remembered me on the next day which made it more special. They have two locations so check them out.
