Great friendly service and delicious food! The prices are on the high end, but I was not paying as I was sent there from the Hyatt for the globalist breakfast. The potatoes in the hash browns were particularly delicious some of the best I had. The coffee was also really good. The wrap was good but they did not put potatoes inside, which should be in per the menu.
Delicious candy and pastries are found here. We stopped in for some sweets and were not disappointed. We got there a little late in the day so selection was limited but we still managed a lemon bar, Mississippi mud tart, and some truffles. Everything was top notch, especiallythe mud tart; my only complaint is that we had to take a nap after all that delicious sugar.
Foremost, their cakes are delicious. So that is not the issue. Customer service and working with the client to provide what they asked for has taken a down turn. Have ordered 3 cakes every year for my grandchildren for 5 years. Last year the decoration was dismal (bad, bad decals) but I gave it a pass since historically everything had always been good. Tried to order a cake this year, sent a photo, told them exactly what we wanted, and immediately, they were giving me a whole other design suggestion, which was the complete opposite of what I had asked for. I shared with them my issue with last year and was concerned the same thing was happening this year. Their response was well, we dont have time anyway. So they dont take feedback well. But as I told them, I guess business is good enough that they can be dismissive of their customers. So we have parted ways. It isnt hard to find equally good cakes and designs in New Orleans.
Great bakery and wonderful helpful people. Needed some flowers for my sons wedding cake we brought in from out of state. They helped us out in a big way. They provided us with a magnolia flower to go on the top of the cake. Provided the touch we were missing. Look forward to visiting them again when we return.
Quite possibly my favorite bakery in New Orleans. You MUST try all of their sweets and, without a doubt, you need to have a bagel! Freshest and most flavorful bagels in the CBD/Downtown/warehouse district area.Parking: parking is on the road and can be a little tricky... Personally, Ive never had issues with finding a spot in front...Staff: the most wonderful people Ive ever encountered. Everyone there is beautiful and theyre the nicest people ever!
Wednesday my order was perfect; went back on Thursday and they forgot to put the salad in the container.
Mainly wanted to come here to try the cupcakes, ended up getting breakfast too. The cupcakes werent really that tasteful. The wedding cake cupcake just tasted like almond oil, it was way too much almond in the icing and cupcake itself. The breakfast was pretty good. Probably wont come back, just had try since it was highly recommended.
I was in need of a last minute gourmet cake for my daughters 30th birthday luncheon at Luke Restaurant in the French Quarters. It was difficult for me to secure a cake all the way from NC, but Cheryl was able to help me with only two days notice to have a delicious customized cake delivered to the restaurant. The cake exceeded my expectations and my intimate party of seven raved about the cake throughout the trip. Thanks so much for your help Cheryl and for the excellent service your bakery provided. If you are ever in NOLA and need a bakery, please go to Bittersweet Confections.
I want to thank everyone at Bittersweet Confections. Today they helped me celebrate the Heroes at the Childrens Hospital of New Orleans PICU. The cupcakes were a big hit. They tasted great and they were beautiful. Thank you so much.
I ordered this cake for my daughter 21st birthday it was horrible I ordered a strawberry short cake a few straw berries and zero to none in the center. I called this bakery several times to make sure the cake was good I paid extra for the strawberries a lot extra the cake was not good. I give them 1/2 star. If you are from out of town please dont buy a cake from them. Beware!
We were visiting the city for the weekend to celebrate a Birthday and last minute we needed another cake vendor. The location was convenient to French Quarters, the order was easy to place on-site and it was customized and ready within an hour. Due to long waits at the restaurants we weren’t able to pick up the cake before the location closed. The manager and the associate onsite were SO kind they made sure we were able to get the cake!! The cake was delicious!
Had a breakfast sandwich and it was delicious! Bagel was soft, eggs were nice and hot and bacon was perfectly crunchy. Perfect combination for a perfect breakfast sandwich. I had a latte which was robust but smooth, my husband and sister in law had the freshly squeezed orange juice which they said was amazing. Perfect spot for a delicious breakfast.
The Wharehouse / Arts District in NOLA is on fire. There are so many new restaurants and galleries. To top off the day you may need to swing by for some chocolate or some other tasty treat. Bittersweet offers coffee on one side and bakery items on the other. The cupcakes are smaller and the cake has a nice flavor and consistency. The icing is quite sweet, but does satisfy the cravings for sweets.
Lunch today was grilled chicken salad for wife and the delicious egg cheese biscuit for me. Desert was a petitfor bytes, like wedding cake.
This cafe was awesome & loved there wasn’t a line...nice low key for families. Clean, friendly staff with great food. We had breakfast & a petite four. We will return & recommend to friends.
The associate and baker did not communicate effectively on how I wanted the cake. They refused to give me a partial refund. There was no effort put into the cake, I wish I would have bought a store cake instead. I would never recommend this bakery for cakes. Im also traveling out of state. The decorations were done so poorly. The baker had an awful attitude and was very disrespectful. This was a horrible experience.
Unbelievable specialty cakes, coffee, sandwiches and such. We’ve ordered everything from Cake-Boss type Birthday and Engagement Cakes, to exquisite lunchtime foods. I work nearby. In fact, I almost wish there were one thing I didn’t like about the place. At least then this review would sound more credible.
The perfect lox BLT on a croissant. The food and pastries are fabulous and cakes are the absolute best.
Very easy to work with, I sent a pic of what I wanted and they did it exactly like the pic, they delivered it and it was delicious!
Very friendly staff, great coffee and excellent food! The staff added almost as much to the experience as the food!Been back 2 times as the food was so great! (And the staff too!)
Great vibes and great staff!!! Loved the coffee here. You should try the cupcakes and you can thank me later.
Cheryl is the best!! 💙💙Her cakes are creative, her confections are delicious and her little spot on Magazine is just so charming.
Got our gender reveal cake here. Greatly done and super tasty.
Its the best muffins, candy, etc. Ive had in a while, and Im a big fan of deserts. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance....
Knocked my wifes birthday out of the park. As a surprise I had them make a cake for my wife. They placed it inside their display case. I told the wife to pick our any cake she wanted. She saw her personalized cake and started to cry.The staff was in on it and couldnt have been nicer
I ordered 7 cupcakes, 1 brownie, 1 petite chocolate mouse cake, and a slice of banana nut bread. $55 later I hate to say that I am beyond disappointed. For cupcakes that are supposed to be baked fresh they tasted fresh frozen. All of the cupcakes were dry, the frosting tasted like crisco with flavoring. The brownie was old and topped with turtle icing which we peeled off. The only thing worth eating was the chocolate mouse cake which tasted like it was 2-3 days old. I would not recommend this bakery to anyone visiting New Orleans. Very disappointed!
Although the cafe was beautifully clean, the omelettes were swimming in oil with few ingredients and the order took at least 15 minutes to be served despite not being busy.
Bittersweet Confections made the beignets that we served at our wedding, and they were the best beignets we have ever had! Our guests kept bringing them up at the brunch the day after, saying that they ate 3-4 beignets each! They were warm and absolutely delicious. We highly recommend serving beignets at your wedding from Bittersweet – they are easy to work with and, as a Brooklyn, New York-based couple, our out of town guests loved that New Orleans touch.Image: Mateo & Company
Great breaksfast on the way to ww2 museum. Staff super-kind! Worth to stop!
Love this place. They’ve made my wedding cake as well as other special event cakes. Always beautiful and delicious...and the staff is easy to work with and willing to make your event easier. Thanks Cheryl Scripter and your staff.
Ordered a strawberry shortcake to be delivered to our hotel room. Don’t see how a white cake with a couple of strawberries on top is a strawberry shortcake. Very disappointed
Cakes, pastries, goodies oh my!Bittersweet Confections delighted my soul! Warm, friendly atmosphere. This was my first time trying this bakery. I have no regrets! In an effort to procure a King Cake for my 2 year olds birthday. I arrived 2 minutes before closing. In a frenzy due to my own banking issues the staff waited patiently. Educating me on the different ingredients in which they use I was well informed and intrigued. I ended up purchasing way more than the King cake. There was a wide range of pastries and other sweet treats. The drink menu looked superb. I will most certainly be ordering my birthday cake and all other delightful confections from Bittersweet. I was amazed. My children gobbled up all the sweets with 😂 joy. I would recommend you try them out. Very clean, organized establishment. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. What more could you ask for in a bakery. #magicalexperience
I would give Bittersweet Confections, and Cheryl 10 stars if I could!! The food is amazing, the service is stellar, and my daughters wedding and grooms cakes were fabulous! Cheryl is so easy to work with, and treated us like family. I cant wait to come back to New orleans for some Bittersweet Confections!!
I wanted to do something special for my husband’s 30th birthday but was a little down about what to do because of quarantine. I decided to order him a custom birthday cake based on one of his favorite video games. I’ve never ordered a custom cake before so I had no idea what I was doing. Cheryl made the process really easy and delivered a great product. The cake was a hit and tasted delicious. Thanks for helping us celebrate in style!
Excellent food in the past. But lacking in pastry. Muffins and scones on offer.
The croissant French toast was amazing
The most delicious bakery! So happy I could count on Bittersweet to make my daughter’s birthday special😁Even during Covid makes your treats that much sweeter😍
Great food and friendly staff. This place could one day be THE coffee shop of the warehouse district. They just really need to soften up and brighten up the decor. The place is full of hard surfaces and lacks an inviting and cozy vibe you want for a neighborhood cafe. Soften it up, add some cozy lounge chair areas and get a professional interior designer to add some finishing touches. It go from being a place you grab food and coffee to a place people actually hangout.
Have stopped here a number of times, I go every single time I am visiting NOLA. Everything has always been great, but this last time I stopped, it was like half of the truffles in the box I got (16 pack) tasted off. Like there was two different batches mixed into the same box, I could actually tell which chocolates were from which batch it was such a distinct difference and more then half tasted not good. Then I was taking a bite of one from the bad batch (while trying to sort out the good ones) and found mold growing on the inside of the truffle. Barf 🤢. It was so disgusting, and I am so disappointed.
I came to New Orleans from Minnesota last July for a bachelorette party. I wanted to order bridal cookies for my sister. I was disappointed and so was the bride to be. These cookies tasted awful, they were dry and flavorless (pretty much not edible). I also wanted the brides name on the cookie and it looked like a 5 year old wrote on the cookie with a gold sharpie versus using a stencil. It was so bad. I would not recommend this location, go to a more professional place if you want bridal cookies
This is the best place Ive found near the French Quarter for sweets, coffee, and fresh made juices. The staff are super sweet and helpful. The cafe setting is adorable and the a/c is cool. I will definitely come back. *We tried the strawberry, blackberry & pistachio macrons - all delicious. The Scarlet juice blend was divine!
We stopped in at lunch to give this a try and was not disappointed. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was clean and had a very relaxed atmosphere. The sandwiches were delicious and of course the cupcakes were my favorite.
Absolutely amazing. From the food to the service! This is an absolute must when in New Orleans. Soft fluffy eggs and perfectly crisp bacon 😍😍
Incredible sweets and lunch. I have always been delighted with my selection. The hardest part was choosing between all the yummy things!
Not sure if they are remodeling or just opening this location. $4 for a 16.9oz Coke,$4.50 for a toddlers size cup of orange juice that sits on the counter top in a tub of ice. Breakfast looks inviting, grits are creamy and delicious, fruit fresh, beacon crispy, eggs scrabbled to perfection. Price(besides the drinks) reasonable.
They ask to be paid before you are served and a tip and will not serve you. You have to get your own water and Cream and Sugar . They have tables, it more of a breakfast bar. It really nice inside.
My husband and I went there on vacation and the variety was amazing and everything looked so good!! The girl helping us was so nice and made sure everything was boxed nice. The only down side is that every truffle we got tasted nothing like what it was named. We got Sea salt caramel, raspberry, hazelnut, and banana foster and not one tasted like it. They all tasted like a standard chocolate truffle.
Super fun go to for everything from delicious brunchy foods to the most delectable sweets! Cupcakes to die for.
Fabulous find on my last day. Coffee excellent, veggie omelet and egg sandwich, yum! Took a blueberry muffin for the road, delish. Wont be disappointed...
Very quaint shop! Fresh pastries that are deliciously appealing to the eye! Sandwiches were very tasty and we loved the food presentation. Service, atmosphere and vibe a plus. Would definitely revisit!
We stopped at this lovely place first by happy accident during White Linen night. We had such a wonderful experience that we stopped again on purpose just before we departed, for breakfast and cupcakes to eat in the car on our long drive home. From now on Ill always come here when Im near New Orleans. This shop must only hire sweet, genuine, patient, gracious folks, the kind who will stand there and discuss every flavor of every dessert in the case if you want. Plus the cupcakes are so good its not even reasonable. Get the grasshopper!
Delicious breakfast buttery biscuits great service
As good as the best scones we have ever had, be it in Europe, Canada, or the states. We had the cranberry/orange and the bacon/cheese scones. Also had an egg with a great bagel. Of course, we had to try a lemon cupcake...fabulous! All this to say, we had to order scones to take back to Texas for breakfast once home. The hubby reports great coffee as well!
Best wedding cakes in NOLA. This place takes it personally, and ensures perfection from cupcakes to your daughters big day. My daughter was married in NOLA in late February and the cake was the topper. Great service, great treats, and VERY professional - yet personal.
Was looking for a good breakfast from a place I regularly get coffee from. First of all, the girls working the counter were very nice. Ordered a coffee and a burrito. Waited 20 min before I had to get back in line at the counter to tell the staff that my burrito had not arrived. 10 min after I originally ordered and sat down someone came in, must have been a friend of a guy working the kitchen or managing, because she got her food quickly. Then he kept brining her additional food so she could try it. He came out, gave another person an application for a interview, brought people silverware, spoke to a large group and directed them to a table....ignored me. I asked the girls at the counter, they apologized and went back and checked. I was told they were just starting it - from my point of view they forgot to make my food. I asked for my money back, they were nice and offered me some other type of food - got a little huffy when I declined that offer. I just wanted my money back at that point, which was done quickly and politely.basically ruined my morning because I was looking forward to it, perhaps this was a one off problem from a normally consistent place - bearded guy needs to pay attention to all the patrons.
Great breakfast and the staff is so nice. Had breakfast Saturday and had to go Sunday again on our way to the airport. Gouda grits are amazing.
First off, I work in the industry so Im very picky about my desserts, but this place is amazing! They use high quality chocolate and the desserts are very fresh! The flavors are balanced, not overly sweet, and they even have options if you arent a dessert person. The pastries are all beautiful and unique, not the same old items that every bakery has, and they even have individually wrapped grab and go items if youre in a hurry. I cant recommend them enough and will definitely be back on my new trip to New Orleans!
Best wedding taste test in town. Our cake was phenomenal! They worked with our modest budget and made an amazing work of art. Anytime we come back to town we order a few cupcakes and they are always just as good as our wedding day in 2012. 100% amazing and 100% perfect local hospitality.
The croussant french toast is the best thing I have ate in 6 months. Need to add a 6th star just for this place. Coffee is spectacular. Highly recommended.
Got the chocolate cake with the chocolate ganache. It was so incredibly delicious. Currently eating it 2 days after it was baked and its still so moist. When we went to pick up the cake there was a mix up but they quickly resolved it. Going here for all my future bday cakes.
Breakfast had been awesome, the NOLA Hash was very flavorful _Your loss if you dont try Bittersweet. And the folks are great as well.Korey
I want to say loud and clear that the people who work here are some of the nicest people Ive experienced. So incredibly kind and hospitable. I didnt try the desserts, and that is likely why my review is a bit lower. My breakfast was just alright. However, I would go back and try the dessert because it looked amazing.
Literally the best spot in town for cakes, brunch, and baked goods.
Bittersweet Confections is the best place to go for a relaxed enjoyable cafe setting. Their selection of sweets, in-house made juices, breakfast items and coffee are all above par in quality. I suggest trying the macarons and fresh juice for starters. Their friendly service and dedication to service really shows in how they treat their customers. I will for sure be coming back every time I visit New Orleans.
Best confectionary in New Orleans. If ya dont know ya missing out
If your in the warehouse district this place is top notch for breakfast- very warm place and the girl making the coffee knows her stuff! Get some!
Have some good dessert with a nice atmosphere. Have gone there a few times. However, the desserts are over priced.
We were looking for a sweet treat in the afternoon (not beignets this time) and found this local cake bakery/coffee shop which is not far off the main walking areas. On display, several signature cupcakes, desserts and cakes. The shop displays awards from The Knot for their wedding cake designs and we were eager with anticipation. We settled on a simple vanilla cupcake with a generous scoop of buttercream icing and a strawberry mousse dome. The white cupcake base was pretty dense, icing not overly sweet with a great vanilla flavour. The strawberry dome was filled with layers of cake, delicious strawberry filling, strawberry mousse and strawberry flavoured chocolate. A very good choice. Price for two desserts, a perrier and a large coffee $20. Make sure you ask if the coffee is fresh, mine was cold which is why this review is 4 vs 5 stars.
Ordered a red velvet cupcake, it was good a little too much icing for my liking but overall it was delicious
Delicious baked goods, coffee and lunch foods. The chicken salad was very fresh and tasty. Served with grilled garlic toast.
Had some of their stuff at St Roch market and it was incredible. Decided to check out the shop and everything was just as good. I had the Mayan chocolate tart and wife had a cupcake. Would highly recommend both.
Bittersweet Confections did an amazing job creating a custom cake for my husbands 40th birthday! I was coming in from out of town so all communication was via email and phone. I sent them a picture of what I was looking for and they recreated it perfectly. Not only did the cake look fantastic, but it tasted amazing! I would highly recommend them for custom cakes.
Today is my birthday.I operate ToursbyJudy. Today a guest on my tour brought me THE BEST CUPCAKE from #BittersweetConfections as a birthday treat.Simply Sensational !!!.I will be buying more!
A cabochon in New Orleans!! Whether you are staying nearby or have to drive in from the burbs, this is a bakery worth visiting. The breakfast burrito was delicious and the pastries are light and crisp. I was in heaven with my first bite of that chocolate croissant. I have found my go to place for NOLA.
