Iced coffee and chocolate chip cookie were both very good. They also have gluten free options. The one issue I observed is that they have a strict mask policy, but the customer in front of me wasnt wearing one. The staff said nothing to him, so whats the point of all their signs?
There are quite a few options for coffee in upper Montclair. This place is worth a visit. I just had regular coffee and it was excellent. Strong. Flavorful. Great aroma. Benches to sit outside made for a lovely time.
New to the area. Probably the best latte I have ever had to date. Very robust and tasty!
They have interesting seasonal coffee and tea drinks on the menu. Some drinks are good some are ok.
The atmosphere and service are memorable but coffee is way too average. Not worth the price.
This place is so cute! And I love that they have vegan options for both food and drinks. Highly recommend!
The coffee that they had was not too strong. The cakes that they had were freshly baked and delicious as well. This coffee shop was great! I really loved this place because it was not crowded. This place has a great ambiance. You keep up the nice and reliable service here in our region! Thanks!
I love the service here. I dont come here often enough but the level of customer service here is impressive. Even during this pandemic they are still welcoming and friendly while doing their best to social distance. Ill admit I was sent the wrong order once and the staff went out there way to ensure that not only was I sent the correct order in a timely manner but I even had someone calle back to apologise for the error. Yes no one is perfect but the lengths they went to correct an order won overy loyalty because most business wont have taken their personal time to call to ensure I was satisfied after a simple mistake. Its almost impossible for me to go out and just grab a snack due to my gluten-free and milk free diet but this place offers a Lemon Poppyseed Donut that rivals any donut. They are so delicious you would never know they are gluten free and vegan without asking. They are definitely a must try if your in the area for breakfast or just out looking for a great cup of coffee. You will not regret stopping by there.
Java Love has become a usual stop before a morning park walk. I will always come back when I have a good service experience and I’ve never been greeted with anything less than the best here (no matter how frazzled I feel). I love that they roast their own beans and are environmentally conscious and will fill up my reusable cup- this was the first time I asked in an effort I reduce my own waste. I’m not enough of a connoisseur to say where their roasts rate against others. What I can say is that the seasonal creations are a great way to try something new and exciting. Also, any coffee store needs to have a selection of pastries and sweet thing to drink with a black coffee and they do! They have a selection of croissants as well as a nice variety for those with special diets and healthier options like chia pudding. Mmm!
I swear Java Love has some of the best coffee that I have ever had in my life, and I have had quite a bit of coffee from all over the world. I dont live near one, but I will either travel out of my way as a treat to myself or I make regular orders online to ship to my house. Cannot start my day without their cold brew and some oat milk!Also- the baristas here are some of the nicest people. They are so warm and really seem to love working here. COVID has to have made things challenging for them but you wouldnt even know it.You are not going to find better coffee around so stop looking! This is the place you are going to want to make your regular place.
Good coffee...good snacks...friendly staff
I have been to Java Love on several occasions and have found the coffee to be fairly decent. It’s certainly not the best, but it is more than adequate. Today I placed an order for two simple iced coffees. I handed over my credit card to complete the transaction and was asked by the associate if I would like to add a tip to the card (it is their policy that during COVID customers are not allowed to handle the device to add tips electronically). I understand that baristas work for tips – sometimes I add a tip, sometimes I don’t, contingent upon the level of service and complexity of my order. However, I do not appreciate being put on the spot to do so. Strike one. There was a cash tip jar on the table that I could have used should I have elected to tip. As soon as I told the server not to add a tip, I detected a marked change in the level of service. She told me that she would call me when the order was ready so I stepped aside and sat down. There were two people working, they weren’t helping anybody else at the time, and my order was quite simple. After several minutes I hadn’t heard anything so I got up to check the counter – the coffees were just sitting there and I hadn’t been notified. Strike two. I looked at the cups to see which one contained whole milk and which one contained oat milk and found two charming drawings, presumably reflecting their annoyance with my reluctance to tip. Strike three.I will never patronize this establishment in the future. I should have stuck to my original plan and gotten my coffee around the corner at Jackie’s Grillette, where the service is always friendly, I can tip (or not) without pressure, and the coffee is far superior. I won’t make the same mistake again.
More expensive and worse drinks than Starbucks! I got small Pumpkin Spice Latte with extra shot of espresso recently which costed me $1.20 more than Starbucks. Latte was bitter and sadly I had to throw it away. :(I love the cafe, I love the people who run it but I just wish coffee was as good as everything else over here. I believe they can do it.
Great service! Went to Java Love today and ordered a drink my friend and I remember being a special years ago. Between the baristas and us, no one remembered the specific ingredients - but they went out of there way to whip up something great from what little we could recall!
Not super friendly staff, they seemed confused and overwhelmed by the changes in ordering and picking up.. We had a simple pick up order that we placed online. It was not a horrible experience just make sure you explain clearly to them you ordered online and check your order before you leave.
Good vibes, excellent cappuccino
A great place to pick up some coffee or espresso and take a walk around the nearby park. Order on their website or by text, wear a mask, grab your coffee, and go!
Such a great place! Cozy atmosphere, with friendly employees, tasty baked goods (even vegan and gluten free options), and all sorts of interesting seasonal drink special. Theyre also very environmentally conscious; they sell reusable straws, and will fill any reusable mug for the price of a small drink.
Java Love has great coffee, great food from local sources and the friendliest staff. Love the Kale & Parm croissant! If you prefer a warm and friendly local shop take the time to stop at Java Love. You wont regret it, and you wont want to go back to the two franchises just a block away in either direction. Java Love also gives you a free drink for every 10 you buy. And if you are on the other side of town they have one there on Church St.
I love this place! As an all around coffee lover, I believe, every drink Ive ever had here has been great! I love how every time I come in theres a different coffee being brewed! Not to mention their espresso is the bomb too, sweet and savory. Java Love is my favorite go to coffee spot!
This is a great place to catch up on some reading or meet with friends. The atmosphere is very warm. Mellow lighting and always good music. The coffee and other drinks are superb. There is also a decent selection of baked goods, one or two even gf and vegan that actually taste good. I have been going to coffee shops since the 1980s and Java Love is one of my all time favorite spots.
Fantastic, friendly little coffee shop with warm ambiance, cozy corners, seasonal specials, and totally solid brews. They very kindly let me linger longer than one cups worth, and have a nice digital buy-a-bunch-get-one-free club. Good location too, right in the center of Upper Montclair.
5-stars for their coffee beans. Roasts have very unique flavor characteristics and are far superior to everything else Ive tried in the tri-state area. If you are a connoisseur of fine coffee and want something beyond the ordinary, this is the place!
Theyre very environmentally friendly, have great service, and the coffee tastes great. Big fan and would definitely recommend.
Have me the wrong flavored biscotti. Wouldnt do anything about it when it was pointed out. One star, all over a stale cookie!
Love this coffee nook. Always good bold java, cool cozy vibe, good music and service. Love my window bar stool office.
This place is the quintessential coffee shop. So much variety, trained staff, every type of milk, specials daily. They pretty much only do coffee, but they do it perfect. Only gripe would be that they can a touch slow when they get busy (of course everyone slows down when theirs a line but its not the time for personally story time to your coworkers behind the counter either)
Great coffee with fast and friendly service! They have some baked goods as well with vegan and gluten free options. Its a small place without a lot of seating but the space they have is lovely.
A laid-back, small coffee shop close to Bellevue cinemas (not to be confused with the other one by the Claridge). Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Kind of limited seating (theres a couple of tables and some roundish bar type seats). Had a iced latte here that was pretty good.
The epitome of what a coffee shop should be. Great regular coffee, great espresso (cap latte etc) and awesome vibe. The decor is very comforting. A very pleasant switch from a commercial establishment
Saw on their website menu Coffee or Tea with CBD when I got there they say they dont carry that anymore. (If you dont carry it anymore then change your menu and dont make people waste their time). Then I just ordered a normal coffee with regular milk, I open the top and the coffee is more black then white which means almost NOO milk. No I wont go back
It gets 3 stars because the atmosphere is cool. Good place to hang and study for a while. I couldt subject myself to their coffee every day, though. Its like drinking ash tray water from an old work boot. Seems like me and the last guy who left a review are not drinking the same coffee. To be fair, I drink espresso and americanos. Its possible that theyre just very 1st wave when it comes to espresso, and that their single origins are lovely.
Java Love in Upper Montclair is where I found my daily coffee while visiting Montclair for a week. Friendly staff and relaxing vibe is what you will find there. Coffee and food options are great.
Great coffee shop, unique and good coffee drinks. Come here when the outside temps are less than 85, as few people like to wear deodorant who frequent here during the warmer months.
Nice place and friendly crew. Love the Staff Specials board, tho those drinks tend to be really sweet. But they will adjust by request!
Better alternative to Starbucks or Dunkin. The coffee is very good but seating can be limiting.
Great coffee, friendly team and always really clean inside ! Medium roast is my favorite.
The decoration and personnel of this establishment are Hipster Level 99. As a bit of a coffee snob, this made me hopeful - but I was disappointed by their overpriced, uninteresting iced coffee. Was asked to join a loyalty program before even paying. Will return to try a cappuccino and see if my first visit was just a fluke. Went up the street to Starbucks afterward, which is not something I want to do. =(
Excellent coffee and nice selection of light snacks and sandwiches. Bring a 2qt. Mason jar for you coffee bean purchase and get 1lb for the price of 12oz.
Small cozy place for great coffee, only downside is they close at 6pm and have very tiny tables. But great service friendly staff and good coffee.
I come here weekly. Very cozy and a lot of style. Although there are two stores (downtown Montclair too), it feels very unique and Mom and pop-esq. Great coffee and awesome staff ! Cant go wrong. Wish it didnt close so early!! 6pm
When Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts dont do it for you anymore, try Java Love. They have a rotating menu of special recipes with cool names and non-traditional flavorings like coconut, maple syrup, herbs, spices, etc. Hard to pick just one thing at a time. Lots of mixins to accommodate whatever you want. Staff are knowledgeable and will explain ingredients or make custom orders. Nice interior, albeit kind of small.
They do coffee right
Very friendly and inviting staff! Great coffee and treats. Loved the scones.
If you’re going for the cafe atmosphere great, if you’re going for the coffee, I’d look elsewhere. They have great intentions but seriously lack good coffee.
Music is great- Coffee is great.Employees are chill and very cool.Best coffee place that I’ve ever been so far.
Way better than starbucks! Great tasting coffee.. usual high end coffee pave prices.
Beautiful little coffee shop espresso is to die for. Thee aroama of fresh coffee hits you the minute you step through the door
In the Montclair area we have several choices but Java Love is the best. Their staff is friendly and service is excellent. Not to mention their great tasting coffee and delicious savories and pastries. We are lucky and glad to have Java Love in Montclair.
Good cafe atmosphere but service is slow and coffee is below average which is not good for the price we pay. I would prefer fresh grinded coffee for Americano rather than ground coffee from a package. Also the coffee was not hot enough and it went cold already when I reach out to the office.
Great coffee, great vibe. Perfect spot to hang out with a friend or alone.
Coffee was pretty dang amazing. Just moved to nj and this place is pretty awesome.
Cute coffee shop with higher than normal coffee prices- small coffee $3. Sugar-$1.Beach like chairs outsides!
Kind baristas! Great coffee! Lovely atmosphere. Gf and vegan treats are Celiac safe and delicious!
Well made espresso. Fun, friendly staff.
Most tasty coffe in the whole area + lovely place and people. Love!
Love their coffee.
Great cookies and good coffee. A nice place indeed.
Bellevue location is my fav! Great place to hang or just stop in for a latte & a tasty, local baked goods.
From William,Hot Chocolate here is the best,it richness of it all
Coffee and atmosphere are good. Variety of pastries, availability of pastries and quality of pastries leave much to be desired.
Good coffee, homemade baked goods, custom drinks invented by the friendly staff. Support your local independent!
Friendly service, great coffee, great music.
Great alternative to the coffee chain store from Seattle.
