Rented a U-Haul from this location with less than 30 miles to use took it to my house open the trailer and noticed it was somewhat stuck I however being a UPS driver what is able to push down and open like any trailer I had to do this twice both times without ease upon returning search U-Haul I was rudely informed through email that I would be getting a $750 charge for damages I called both location during which time a female employee was highly rude telling me that it was my fault and if it wasnt why didnt I call after seeing the damages as well as saying that that was something that should have been looked at when you buy a U-Haul opening the trailer is not something on the list of things to check what you are told to check is besides the front and the mileage as well as the gas not to see if you can open the back or not which was all stated to such an employee as well as the company I am not too sure what is going on with this being as though they have yet to call me back however I refuse to pay $750 for a $80 rental that was used 4 less than 2 hours less than 30 miles when I could have kept such item untill the next day. I did what was told to do which were inspect each side gas mileage and front and not if trailer can open and we noticed a little extra elbow grease opened it

If I could I would give this place zero stars. Horrible customer service. I made an appointment left my car there for a hitch to be applied at 7:30 am and they said it would be ready by 2. I got there at 5 and they had just started working on it. I waited for a half-hour before an employee finally attended me. She told me the car wasnt going to be ready for another hour and if I could come back tomorrow for it and they would give me some kind of discount. Absolutely not!!! I already went one whole day without my car and I needed it. I had things to do. I chose to wait the hour which turned out to be 2hrs😡 I do not recommend this place and will never be going back there again.

Three ladies were running the store the morning I went in for a trailer hitch to be installed.The young lady helping me said it would be a week before the hitch could be installed but then said you know what? I can do this! Then she grabbed a manual and got the hitch and installed it herself and in half the time it was supposed to take.I cannot recommend this store enough! They will definitely get all my future business!

I returned my U-Haul truck to this location. It was in the same shape I got it in, and the gas level was right where it was when I picked it up. The attendant said all was good and Id get a receipt by email. The receipt then showed an unexpected charge for 5 gallons of gas even though the tank was at the exact same level as it had been initially. I called to try to rectify the situation, and U-Haul said theres nothing I can do and that the attendant should have told me to take pictures but it wasnt there fault that they failed to communicate this. So, Im left paying for U-Hauls gas. Be careful of this location.

Completely not helpful the young lady behind the plexiglass was slouched back in her chair playing with her tongue ring as she talked to be....manager left early ...what time will she be in tomorrow? I dont know it depends...?? On what your hours posted or when she feels like it??? I wasnt going to drive across town again the next day to no help again.I found another full service UHaul that was the same distance in the other direction.

The girls at the counter were super awesome and sweet. Even though the truck I had reserved was late (result of customer not workers) they still got me through the check in quickly. And Cassandra went bring what I would think to be normal to insure I had everything I needed, the truck was cleaned and filled with gas already and when I returned the truck she made sure I was able to get checked in and on my way in literally just a couple minutes!I know this will be the uhual I return to next time?! Thanks ladies and keep up the great work!!! 👍

Truck flipped over on freeway my travel trailer is a complete loss. Thank God I purchased the extra coverage from UHaul. They are going to cash me out for my trailer. Awesome

I had went on Friday, June 4, 2021 bc they never answered their phones to reserve a truck. The woman who helped name Sorrayah set me up to reserve a 15’ truck to pick up the next day at 1pm on Saturday. On Friday She gave me a copy of my reservation receipt that stated I would pick up my truck at the same place at 837 Kansas Ave in Modesto. Next day my son and I arrive there at 1 pm. I saw Sorrayah again and to my shocking surprise she told me my truck was not there that I had to go to Patterson to get it! That was not on my receipt and that was to far! I was very disappointed! She was trying to explain what had happened and as I was listening to her another employee by the name of Sandra got into our conversation and started to over talk Soorayah and it became a bit difficult to listen to both of them talk to me at the same time. Sorrayah didn’t need Sandra’s help in any way. Instead she should had helped the next customer waiting in line! I told Sandra let me just listen to the other person talk to me since she’s been working with me since Friday. Sandra didn’t really stop over talking. Sandra became rude. She said what I’m telling u she’s only going to say the same thing. I asked Sandra let Soorayahtalk to me. Sandra was very rude and she suddenly pointed her finger towards the door and shouted that we leave her store in front of other customers for no valid reason! I told her she was very rude and asked if she was the manager and said she wasn’t. I asked her for the manager’s name and his phone number. She said the name and wouldn’t give me the direct store phone number that I would have to call a 800 number. But, I will soon call Gil to let him know that Sandra was rude and is lousy at customer service. Soorayah couldn’t help me with any else. As we were leaving I saw another smaller truck come in and I asked Soorayah if I can rent that one. She said no bc it wasn’t a local truck! We left very disappointed. My son made calls and he spoke to a very helpful employee name George from the 9th street u haul who said he found a 10’ truck that will be ready at 1:45 pm that same day in the local area. Of course I took it and George made the reservation for me. The funny thing we had to return back to the Kansas u haul bc the same truck I asked if I can rent that just came in would be the truck George said I could get! We told George what had happened at the Kansas u haul about Sorrayah about the original reservation mixup they did and that she said I couldn’t rent the truck that just came in and mainly about rude Sandra’s behavior! He was apologetic for Sandra’s unprofessional behavior and gave me the direct phone number to call the managers Gill or Richard at the Kansas u haul which I will soon do! If Sorrayah was more helpful that I really could had rented the second truck and rude bad mouth Sandra stood out of my conversation with Sorrayah to keep Sandra’s mouth quiet then maybe this u haul location could be rated better. Giving good professional customer service should be number one. The last laugh I had when I returned back there and it was Sandra that had end up helping me and I had a big smile that I was there to pickup my rental truck. This time she had a different attitude bc she had to give me the truck and she end up being put in check…lol. And a special thank you to George from the 9th street u haul for making it happen and saved the day! And I read another Yelp complaint about Sandra being rude to a previous customer! Not good!

Worst U-Haul in Modesto. I booked a 20footer for 10hrs out of town dropoff service. which was in the options and when I got there the staff told me that I was booked for 10footer for 6hrs. So I showed her the comformation number and print out copy but she refused to accomodate me. The staff said that they are not responsible for the online U-HAUL errors.Than who is accountable ? There were trucks available but only for in townAnd no drop offs. Wasted 2hrs of my time. Do not recommaned this place.

This is a great place to rent a U-Haul. Save yourself some time and do it online. I just walk in and confirm my reservation and walk out with the keys. Ive never had a problem getting a reservation or returning a vehicle. Great service for small businesses that need larger trucks from time to time.

Cool rental place. Rented several times in my life. Who doesnt know Uhaul? Unfortunately, they no longer allow customers to use their trucks for hauling trash or recycling materials because their trucks can get damaged while visiting landfills or recycling centers. Real bummer and really ironic. I used uhaul for years and now i cant unless im driving to and from a residence or other building. But I guess you can only haul anywhere but landfills and recycling centers.

My receipt said to drop it off at Kansas. The employee told me to take it to a different location because they didn’t have room. They had 6 or more parking spaces open. Not sure their logic here

Out of the 3 girls at the desk, two seemed to be friendly and knowledgeable. One seemed not very caring nor friendly.

We have rented here previously. Everyone is friendly, the trucks are in good condition and no problems encountered. We also used the moving assistance twice and it was well worth it.

The overall service was good except for one glaring issue. When we checked level of gas at the yard, it registered as roughly half full. When the truck was driven 3 miles to our residence, the gas gauge registered almost empty.When we called U-haul back, the manager basically said that since we drove it off lot, it was not her concern... and if it wasnt for Fernando (I believe that was his name) giving us a discount and making it right, I would have given 1 star.

This place legitimately needs to be shut down.I made a reservation with Uhaul Modesto to ship a Ubox to Michigan, but at the last second it was transferred to these guys. It has been one of the most stressful and frustrating experiences in my entire life, no joke! Originally I was supposed to load on 12/13, box shipped 12/16, and arrive in Michigan 12/31. Heres the actual progression:12/11/19 - Website said I had 24/7 access to my U-box. I found out only AFTER calling this place that I had to access my box no less than 2 hours before closing. The lady I spoke to sounded like she had zero idea what she was talking about...I had to pry and do all the thinking for her in order to get any answers.12/13/19- Reservation was cancelled from underneath me without any notice on the day of the reservation. I only found out because I gave them a courtesy call that I was on my way down there so they could grab my box. This lack of communication is a theme with this company. The pickup was immediately bumped to 12/19 because of this. Thankfully I had my van rental for the full weekend.12/14/19 - I started loading my stuff. Guy (Fernando?) sold me a lock for 3 or 4 bucks. Turns out it cost almost double that when I checked out, after I already placed the lock on my ubox.12/21/19 - I arrived in Michigan and noticed the box was still Preparing for Shipment. I kept an eye on the box for a few more days, and whenever the Pickup Date arrived, it would shift forward a couple more days.12/24/19 - I called the u-haul 1-800 number. They said it would be shipping by Thursday 12/26. It did not. I expected this with it being the day after Christmas.12/27/19 - I called u-haul again on Friday. Same response just to keep an eye out12/28/19 - I called the u-haul store directly. The person said theyd leave a note for the manager and he would call me back. Surprise, he didnt12/28/19 - Later that day I called the 1-800 number, and, SURPRISE, the box was magically scanned for shipment that morning, shortly after I called the store. How long would the box have sat there if I hadnt made this call?12/30/19 - Box finally ships on Monday. Called the store again and decided to wait for however long it took to speak directly to the manager. waited on hold for 15 minutes to speak to the manager, and he said it was Being loaded on the truck right now. Apparently it actually was. My box was supposed to leave on 12/16, but thanks to this store, didnt leave until 12/30.Once my stuff was on its way, I could finally breath again and was almost ready to let all of this slide...until today. When I made my reservation, the website said I would be receiving 1 month of free storage in Michigan. This morning, I was charged $99.15 for storage, resulting in an overdraft fee from my bank. Apparently, because these guys cancelled and re-made my reservation, I lost the promotion but still had the storage contract. Luckily, I didnt end up needing it and the store out here is going to give me my money back, but regardless these guys tried to steal $100 from me after all of this.And you know the kicker of all of this? The uhaul website lists a guaranteed arrival date. Thats a straight up lie. Its only guaranteed once its on the truck, so they moved around my guaranteed arrival date however they saw fit. There is zero incentive for a store like this to fulfill their end of the contract....and I will be receiving exactly zero compensation for all the problems this place caused. I try to be a nice guy and get along with as many people as possible, and I understand that things happen. But I will not put up with paying a company to screw me over like what happened here.DO NOT GO HERE. And most importantly, DO NOT EVER USE U-BOX. Spend the extra money on a Pod, or a trailer, or anything else, but do not entrust your belongings to this company.

I have dealt with many uhaul locations around the country, and Im never disappointed with the level of service, or availability of equipment. Even, though, I have a location, literally, 3 blocks from my home, I choose to drive almost 10 miles to this location. I have no interest in this location other than to give them a good review, because Im always pleased when I do business here. I highly recommend you take your business to them.

AVOID!!!! U-Haul has no customer service. None. I made a reservation to pick up a trailer in Oakdale weeks ago. THIS IS WHERE THEY SENT ME. Theyve known about my reservation for weeks. BUT THE DAY BEFORE, they send me a notice saying I have to drive 25 miles out of my way to pick up a trailer. Maria, the scheduler/manager, has no boss, no supervisor. When you call the 800 number, no one takes responsibility. Youre lucky IF they answer the phone. THEY ARE AWFUL. NEVER WILL I DO BUSINESS WITH U-HAUL AGAIN!

Rented a couple of trucks and a trailer from them and never had a problem. I always received good customer service but I havent used them in about a year.

I hate the fact that I have to give them 1 star instead of none! I rented a truck and was told by three different representatives of uhaul that I would be receiving one free month of storage. FABIAN from this location was one of them and even gave me a phone number to call this Standiford location. Come to find out that this location is being contracted not part of uhaul although it is shown as uhaul storage. Called this location most of the day and no response, so we showed up 2 hours before office hours and closed! I contacted the 1800 number and not even they were able to HELP! Extremely frustrating and annoying how they dont even care to help not keep us happy for all the inconvenience they put us through. Never again!!!!!

Took a friend here to get a van she reserved, she needed it longer but it was reserved by someone else the next day. The lady that works there checked a different location and found we could get one longer at the McHenry Ave. branch . She reserved it, we went to McHenry and got the van for the length of time she needed it.
