Bill is awesome. He took the time (and EXTRA time at that) to figure out what was wrong with my car even though it meant eating costs on his end. Very kindly explained everything that I was being billed for and I cant prove it but I swear he even filled my gas tank for me. Cant recommend this place highly enough!!!

This place is awesome!! Seriously - they’re going to be my go-to auto repair shop from now on. Called them in the morning and told them my serpentine belt flew off while I was driving. They said they could take a look at it and told me to get it towed to the shop. They were able to replace my serpentine belt for me IN THE SAME DAY and charged a normal, fair price for it too. It’s a relief knowing you have an honest mechanic not trying to upcharge you. Love this place!!!

My grandmothers car was towed to South East Auto, pretty much dead on arrival. Which we were told with no frills or bs, just sympathy and kindness. It was sort of a mess dealing as a go between with older relatives, but the process was so much better because the car got taken to this awesome shop. When we requested a tow receipt we received it with a stamp already on it!! I have been telling all my friends to go here and check out this shop. Ended up with a flat this morning after my tire came off the rim. Threw the spare on and gave this place a call since they were nearby. Bought two tires and was done the same day! The mechanics here are always very up front about what repairs are essential, which ones can wait, how long you can safely push off a repair, and how much things are going to cost. Theyre good at answering my often questions without being condescending or impatient. Im always surprised at how fast they turn around my car. Most importantly, they always call before making any decisions. I just went in for a brake job after finding out that my rear brakes were about to go. They called and said my front brakes could use replacement, too, but they could wait another few months if I wanted to save up money. I appreciate that they didnt just do a full brake job without calling me, even though when I dropped it off I didnt specify which brakes I wanted replaced. In the past, theyve called me letting me know that they didnt think the repair I requested was worthwhile, saving me hundreds of dollars that I was able to put towards a newer car. I usually have to schedule a repair or oil change a few days in advance, but my car has always been ready the same day that I dropped it off. They also have an option to drop off your car after hours the night before your appointment, which is very convenient. Ive been going to SE Auto for years, and I wouldnt trust my car with anyone else.

Not only did they do good work for a good price, the fella at the counter was knowledgable, friendly, and spoke to my knowledge level about my vehicle. Incredibly professional, incredibly personable, will definitely be returning in the future.

This place is trustworthy!! Had my vehicle in for suspension work and one of the parts failed. I put the car in storage thinking it was the other side that needed work. Even tho I was 6 months over due on the warranty he replaced the part for free and got it done fast! The fact that they stand by their reputation for great customer service and honored the customer to me is the mark of trustworthiness!

I had a really good experience. Went in convinced I needed new brakes and admitted I didnt know much about how cars worked, wasnt experienced. In short, would have been easy for the shop to just sell me a brake job. Instead he was super honest and told me my brakes look great and I didnt need one. If youre a young woman and you get nervous going to the mechanics the owner is really friendly and seems to have great integrity. Felt like I was handing my car over to a favorite uncle or something. Ill definitely trust them again the next time I need my vehicle serviced.

I clearly knew very little about my cars problems when I went in. The guys were kind, explained everything clearly, and were honest that the issue was probably not worth the money it would take to repair it. I left with a very affordable bill for the checkup. Ive found Bill and Guy very straightforward. Been to them twice, first time to work on my washer pump and the second time for an oil change. Ill prefer them in future for oil changes and other maintenance of my Accord!

I like this place.! I brought my car in for a soft brake pedal and Bill took care of it. I had the car back in two days and now feel safe driving again. Bill came out of the garage when I picked up the car and explained what they found and what they did, the price was reasonable, as quoted, and they even repaired the windshield washers. The owner is personable and my sense is that hes very trustworthy. Living as I do in NE Minneapolis this garage is a little inconvenient for me, but with service like this Ill always find a way to get there.

These two mechanics are the most trustworthy guys Ive met in the industry for a long time. Polite, professional, & knowledgeable. They seem to have the clients best interest at heart. Unlike some of the larger shops & dealers, they dont come up with any unnecessary work. Instead they discuss your vehicles condition with you & in order to include the client in the decision making process.

Was having issues with my car and found this place which is close to me with good reviews, called to get an estimate on the problem my car had. Spoke to an employee there and he was very rude. Pretty much told me he’s been a mechanic for 30 yrs and wasn’t getting paid to answer my questions over the phone. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I have never had an experience like that with any business.In response to the owner Bill’s message I knew what the problem was I have my own diagnostic tool to check and I said what it was and your response to me asking how much it was to fix it was if you fix it and it does not fix the problem I still have to pay you. Like you were mad I didn’t let you charge me to tell me what the problem was and when I did said the problem you acted like you never heard of that before or I was wrong. Let me tell you I went to another shop and guess what my diagnostic scanner was RIGHT! I didn’t need someone with 30 yrs of experience to tell me that. A question to a mechanic isn’t me asking you to fix my car over the phone it’s just an estimate to fix the problem I am having. As I’ve seen on here there’s a few others that have had the same experience talking with you.Have a nice day sir!

They saved my wife and I thousands over what the dealership would have charged over the lifetime of routine maintenance on our VW Passat, and that was a finicky car!We now have a Subaru Outback and they do a great job with this car as well. A few weeks ago I dropped it off for an oil change and asked them to replace the tires because we’ve had the car for four years and winter is coming. They called me later that morning to let me know the oil change was done and that my tires are just fine. They had a quote for a new set but honestly the tread and tires were in great shape and it really isn’t time to replace them. Folks, that’s the kind of honesty you only get from a friend.Bill and Guy just fix what needs to be fixed, you are given options if appropriate, they do quality work to factory specs, and they are friendly people. No matter how busy they are they will take the time to explain what has been done to your car when you pick it up and make sure that you are happy. I stand by my statement, they are a neighborhood treasure.

I really trust this place. Ive been going for years, and theyve always done fast, thorough, and sensible work. They never talk me into something I dont need, and they treat me with respect. I hate giving up my favorite auto place, in case they get too busy for all my dumb old-car problems. But they are such good mechanics and good people.

My 2005 Jeep Liberty finally had accumulated enough issues for me to begrudgingly make the decision to have a mechanic look at it. Southeast Auto Service came highly recommended by my business partner who had used their services within the last three months for his vehicle. Im happy to report that I shared the same excellent experience that he did in dealing with Bill and the team.Given that there were several issues I wanted investigated, I provided a list of each problem and the symptoms that I had been experiencing. Bill addressed each issue and explained what was happening that caused it, what would need to be done, and a quote for each part of the repair. He specifically did not do any work to the vehicle knowing that it was approaching the point where it might be best just to scrap it and move on to a new car, but he gave me time to think about it and answered any questions I had. After some thought, I decided to go the repair route.Whew, its like driving a new car. Even though we started by doing only part of the repair now and Ill be bringing it back to them in the next month or two to do the remaining repairs, I feel safe on the road again. They discovered, upon beginning the work, that there were two other parts that had worn out and were causing the symptoms I described and replaced these parts without charging for labor (how many mechanics will do that?).In summary, Southeast Auto Service is a small shop run by good and honest folks who dont deal in BS. At no point did I feel pressure to do the repairs or give them my money, and it felt that Bill truly wanted to help me make the best decision in going forward whether that meant hiring them to do repairs or scrapping the car and finding something new. I came here with a flat tire because it was the closest shop to me. The man working patched up my tire and sent me on my way within 15 mins and did it for free because he knew I was in a bind. He did this despite being incredibly busy and the only one on staff that day. I cant express my gratitude enough. He saved my day.

I had a flat tire while in the neighborhood. The other nearby car repair shop wouldn’t help me at all. I found this place doing a Google search and drove in, unannounced. I was greeted almost before I stepped out of my car. My tire was quickly repaired, put back on the car and my spare was replaced in its holder under my vehicle. This was all done for less than the AAA tow driver told me to expect. I happened in when they were able to get right to it, but even if I had to wait it would have been worth it for the courteous and professional way I was treated.

Turnaround time just too long and I dont usually have time for that. I only have 1 car and having to wait for 2 days just takes too much of my precious time and money. Your people need more training or perhaps hire those with experience.

These guys are great. Very upfront about costs, and good about explaining what needs to be done and when. It is great to here items that need to be addressed immediately, items that the car owner should be aware of for the future, and what can just be watched and likely never require anything done for it. Quick, communicative, good service, and prices are very fair.

As a graduate student (read: tight budget) who doesnt know a lot about cars and is not from Minnesota, I was in major freakout mode when my car broke down. I had it towed to Southeast Auto Service based on a recommendation from a coworker - which was a great decision. They were so helpful and understanding on the phone, checked my car out & told me about the factory recalls on the transmission. They even recommended a tow company they trusted to take my car to the dealership to handle the recall repairs. Even more, they answered my questions about how to talk to the dealership to make sure things were covered. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for trustworthy and honest service.

We have been bringing our car here since April 2018 and have nothing but great things to say about Bill and Guy. With an appointment, weve been able to have same day service (drop off at 7, pick up around 5 or 6) every time. They charge fair prices on batteries, wipers, tire switches (summer to snow), inspections, oil changes, and more. Whenever they find something that needs work that we havent talked about with them, they call first and talk through options and prices before doing the additional work. We wouldnt bring our car anywhere else.

These guys are SO nice. I’ve had a few situations where I’ve had to drop my car off with them without an appointment (obviously not recommended) but they’ve always taken care of me.

Excellent service, took my truck in for an oil change and to fill up some air in the tires, they were able to get me in same day and charged a really fair price. It’s hard to find a good mechanic but these guys have treated me and my roommates really well.

Went to Southeast Auto for an oil change because its near to my house and had good reviews online. It was absolutely the worst customer service experience of my life. When I came to pick up my car, the worker was belligerent and condescending. He rotated my tires without my permission and tried to charge me for it. Then he argued with me for several minutes about why it was done, all in the same aggressive and condescending tone. (My tire place recommended putting the new tires on the back axle to prevent sliding, but this employee disagreed.)He went on to angrily criticize the choice of oil I put in my car and lambast me for being overdue on my oil change. I mean honestly, thats why I brought it in! Is it reasonable to expect everyone to perform flawless maintenance on their own cars?Regardless of the interaction with that one employee, any car shop that will do work without a customers permission, then attempt to charge them for it, should not be in business.Im sure its possible to have a good experience at this shop depending on what employee you interact with, but I would not recommend this place to anyone based on my own experience.

Took my car here on a few different occasions, the employees are some of the most honest mechanics you will meet. They tell you what is and isnt wrong and what needs to be done and what can wait. The best service you can get is right here!

Best auto service I town! My Taurus had the rambling sound as if it is taking off like a aircraft. Was expecting to pay at least 500 bucks. Folks here fixed the problem by costing me only 130 dollars.! Very honest and reliable people. I dont know how this place has such good reviews. I brought my car here to get inspected prior to selling it on request of the buyer. The mechanics list of things wrong with my car was extensive, to include fluids being low/ empty, and seatbelts not working. Upon getting my car back I immediately checked and all were properly filled, and all seatbelts are in proper working order. The only things he got correct was a few lights needing replacing that I hadnt noticed. He also missed the one thing actually wrong with my car (which I had previously told the buyer about), and misdiagnosed it as something that costs over 10 times as much. He left my car with dirt & dust marks all over the dash after we recently got the car professionally cleaned to be ready to sell.

I used Southeast Auto Service for years when living in Minneapolis. Now that Ive moved to Seattle, I am still so sad I cant take my car there to get it worked on! Both Guy & Bill are honest and dependable. They never overcharged me for any work and clearly communicated costs and timelines ahead of time. They worked on both my VW Bug and Subaru Forester. They were always able to get me scheduled in and complete the work quickly! Ill never forget the one time that my VW bug needed a new ignition. They thought they could do it in shop but realized they needed something from the dealership. They spent hours calling around and then driving my car to the dealership to use their systems. They didnt charge me for any of this time because they hadnt included the labor costs in my estimate. AMAZING SERVICE!

Dropped my car off at 7 am for over heating was done by 10 am. I thought it was a good deal, my girlfriend thought they overcharged for labor. $184 to figure out that the coolant had frozen in the pipes and to flush it out and for an oil change.
