5 stars are not enough! I was stranded 4 hours from home when my car started shaking and the engine light and ETC light lit up. I started looking for shops nearby and quickly saw there were some places with frightening reviews and the ones that didn’t were not able to even look at my car to diagnose it for days. Fortunately Good Carma was able to look at it right away. They were clearly busy but they really understood my situation and worked me in. I dropped the car off and was told that I could get a coffee next door on them at Carma Coffee and they would call when they knew what was going on. It wasn’t long and they called and told me what was wrong and that they could get it repaired right away. I had breakfast at Carma Coffee and was on my way in under an hour. A disreputable place would have taken advantage of my helpless situation but the repairs were not inflated and I was on the road in under an hour. If I lived in Minneapolis this would be my shop hands down. It’s becoming rare to have a business that genuinely cares about the customer and this place does. I will try and time my maintenance/oil changes to future trips to the Twin Cities just so I can go to this shop!

I want to say Thanks for the Great follow-Through with my Jetta and the CV-joint replacement! Fong and Keith went the extra mile to make sure that my car got towed back to the shop and that I had the use of a loaner vehicle. They checked the repair and tested it thoroughly before giving it back.The shop is ethical, moral, and responsible. I wish all companies worked the way they did. I will recommend this shop to everyone I know. They really stand behind their work.

I own a 1979 Super Beetle Cabriolet and will only be taking it to Good Carma moving forward. They performed great work on the car, and identified a fuel leak that couldve resulted in a full-on car-b-que. Highly recommend for anyone with an air-cooled VW!

Had an GREAT experience with these awesome guys down at Good Carma. Informative, fair priced, professional and the most friendly, diligent customer service/updates I could have hoped for. They did a full engine replacement in my 18’ Jetta. It was the most affordable price I got and we’re talking about a specialty shop at that! They even helped me with a tow from all the way in east St. Paul! They did quality work, and pretty quickly too, especially considering my oddball car.These folks are friendly, honest, and clearly passionate about these vehicles and their business. I had my Jetta serviced here for numerous things. Keith was very helpful and willing to match my previous estimate if not beat the prices. He was knowledgeable. As well as informative. I felt like they were honest with what was needed to be done.I did experience some problems after they serviced my vehicle. However, they promptly fixed the issues and gave me a loaner vehicle to use free of charge. I didnt even have to throw a bitchfit. Thats always a plus!I would defiently use them again with high recommendations.My only gripe is that the rental cars are not cleaned prior to use. I cant stand pet hair and my daughter has allergies.

I have a 2007 Passat that kept having the water pump go out I drove from Houston Texas to Minneapolis to visit family and it went out these guys fixed it up the first time and I’ve been driving on it for about 4 months now, very trustworthy and reliable

Weve used Good Carma for more than a dozen years and a half dozen Volkswagens. Our friends child had huge transmission problems with her car just as she was going to CO for graduate school. We recommended GC, and she was so impressed that they did all of the things we said they would: give a roadworthiness evaluation, recommend repairs in order of immediacy all they way through the items that could be deferred indefinitely. They sent her on her way with confidence. I had a bad winter morning on one of those double digit sub-zero days and said so on Facebook. Next thing I know, the owner of the garage called me, he was cruising the cities available to help whomever. He drove over and looked at my battery, knew it was bad just by laying hands on it (its a valid test), and called the shop to have them set up with what I needed. It sounds like they are ready for a little good karma themselves since we called for an appointment Monday, and it will be worked on Wednesday, and theres plenty of room to drop the car early. PEOPLE, if you have a VW, this is THE place to have your car maintained.

Over the phone service was the best feature of this place for my 2011 Audi A4. It was a busy week for me and I took trust in a neighborhood repair shop based on the current reviews. I was definitely surprised when the bill was added up to over $1300. The charges, $114 for a tow less than a mile?? I only needed the tow since I couldnt get the vehicle started. A simple hookup and tow to their shop. Do Not use Schmitt towing service. Bosh was the recommended alternator through Audi. $700 for an alternator seems a bit steep even for Bosch brand. I did a comparison shopping with local auto supply stores which their price range was $450- $650. The biggest insult came after I was told of the final charge. I nicely asked for a simple discount do to the inflated price of $1300+ and being a first time customer. Ryan responded I can give you $20 dollars off. Really, after just informing me of a $1300 bill thats the best you can do? Will definitely consider another place next time

I had an initial appreciation for Good Carma and was willing to drive 25 miles to get oil changes and minor repairs done to my 2009 CC with 140,000+ miles that I take pride in preserving. Their prices are fair and they dont push you to purchase tires like every dealership meeting. The shop is like a small paradise for a VW enthusiast.I have to say that as a customer I never felt special, they wanted me in and out the door. Some guys at the counter are friendly but the last 2-3 visits I felt a cold shoulder when asking questions. I ended up feeling that they were doing me a favor by looking into my car. The only highlight was the free coffee at the shop next door.Recently I took my CC for an oil change, they got me in and out the door in an hour, and that afternoon when cleaning the car, the splash shield below the engine bay just felt on my driveway . I looked below and the shield was just snapped into place and no screws were put into place. I had to go to the closest shop so they could snap it back and screw it back for a fee, making me waste time and money. For a shop that claims to be VW experts, you do not miss a simple, yet critical step as making sure that big part is secured back. I called Good Carma that afternoon and all I got was a oh. Sorry - this shouldnt have happened. I asked how were they going to make it up to me and they said well, we will not make that mistake again. So disappointing. Messaged the owner and stated my concern, getting only a mild apology.Bottom line I will not return to Good Carma. Was fun at first but I felt disappointed. Like when you begin dating and you then feel like you are not enough. I found a shop closer to home that gives great service, pricing and they have their basics covered.

Wouldnt go anywhere else but Good Carma with my VW - theyve helped me get through some major repairs over the years and theyre such a genuine group of people. Ive called them for advice and theyve always given the best explanations of whats going on with my car and how to move forward. The repairs are speedy and I love their coffee shop next door. A good, trusted auto shop can be hard to find; I recently moved from Chicago and have definitely found my new go-to shop. They graciously accommodated me last minute when my transmission went out in the middle of this winter and provided me with a loaner car and a quote on the same day. Unfortunately, the car wasnt worth repairing, but they kindly checked out the new car I bought to replace it. Its safe to say I will definitely be bringing my new car back here!

Awesome service. I had as low leak in one of my tires and was unable to drive more than 1-2 miles at a time. I brought it in without an appointment to see if they were able to help, and they were able to patch my tire the same day. Not only was it inexpensive, but they were able to take care of in in only a few hours. I cant thank them enough. This is now my go-to auto repair shop. Highly recommended!

Wow! Good Carma does exactly what they say they will do and more! I recently came home from Florida and had to have my vehicle towed to Good Carma. Frozen battery, altenator that quit working and a window that mysteriously disappeared. Keith and Ryan were amazing to work with - cant thank them enough. Through the whole ordeal of working with my insurance companys window replacement vendor, Keith showed me what exceptional customer service was all about! My vehicle was repaired in a very timely manner and at a very fair price. Well done guys, well done!!! As an added bonus, yesterday I went to put gas in my vehicle and realized they had fixed the door covering my gas tank. (It had been damaged during a car wash.) I was so excited...its the little things that make me happy!

These are best guys to service your Foreign Auto. They completely go out of their way to offer the best service at a fair price. Service is top notch. Cannot be trusted! But at least I was refunded for the inspection after being lied to by multiple employees about why I needed a $900+ A/C repair. If they recommend an expensive repair, get a second opinion like I did. Better yet avoid this place. I went to a trusted non-VW indie shop in WI and they ran a proper series of tests on my A/C system and found that the culprit was a $15 solenoid.

My elderly parents needed to repair their classic street rod and prepare the car for sale in order to pay for unexpected medical expenses.Good Carma, as far as I knew at the time, was an Audi and VW specialist shop. But I come from the It never hurts to ask school so I gave them a call. I had an initial conversation with Ryan, their shop manager. Hes a resourceful thinker and a patient listener. He took notes and then conferred with his technicians and Bill, the shop owner. He called me back and explained that his crew was interested in helping and that they could likely find the problem but that none of them were flathead experts and that they might need to consult with relevant experts.They helped me to arrange safe transport of the street rod from my parents house to Good Carma. They dug into the project with enthusiasm. They did research. They conferred with fellow motor-heads. In short order, they had determined the source of the problem, authorized repair and completed the work. I picked up the car and it now runs like a Swiss watch.It means so much to me that the entire crew was so upfront about what they did and did not know. When they needed to learn something, they found the answers. They helped me and my family out in a tight spot and Im so grateful.The combination of technical expertise, honesty and clear communication that I received from Good Carma is unmatched. Walking into an auto repair shop has me worried. Worried that the noise my car is making is actually its last stand on the hill it will die on. Or that the bill amount will match the high amount of time Ive been ignoring the issue.When a shop prides itself on doing good and allowing karma to bring the positivity back to them - my worries are minimized. Good Carma does just that. Since they are relying on word-of-mouth and arent a part of a large chain store or dealership - I have the market to back me up.I brought my GTI in due to concerning noises getting progressively worse and some leaks (making me question buying stock in coolant). First problem solved was that they had a rental car for me to use, free of charge.Turns out the noise was just some loose aftermarket parts that they just tightened up - no cost. The leaks were resolved and didnt have a problem the rest of the winter. I had it back in a day with a clear explanation of what was done.When a shop makes the process of fixing a car this easy, it is no wonder they believe in what goes around comes around.

Ive brought my car to Good Carma twice, and both have been really positive experiences. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly - to a point of recognition beyond most repair shops. The work was done quickly and efficiently. Had some ambiguity around a check engine light and Good Carma was honest and advised me to just keep an eye out rather than gouging me for work I didnt need. I went across to wait at Carma Coffee, which I enjoyed much more than a dingy waiting room. Plus, both coffee and food were very good.

I decided to take my Jetta to Good Carma after receiving an absurd quote from the Volkswagen dealership. I was greeted with a huge smile from a guy named Ryan. He was extremely helpful and checked my car in to get inspected. They had a really cool coffee shop next door and I was able to work on my computer while they figured out what exactly was wrong with my car.The quote they gave me was significantly less than what the VW stealership wanted to charge me. They were able to get all of the repairs done in a timely manner and sent me continuous updates. Would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to get their Volkswagen/Audi worked on.

I love having meetings at this coffee shop in Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. They have fabulous large mugs that are beautifully delicious.

Not a trustworthy place. I brought my former car there because it had a light hesitation in the engine from time to time. The car had done this for years. They call me and tell me the engine had blown while they were working on it and took no responsibility. They claimed it happens and forced me to pay the bill and have my broken vehicle towed from the property. I’m sure they fix people’s vehicles regularly. But if they make a mistake that proves to be costly, they aren’t going to take the blame. Beware.

When my tire blew in the middle of a Minnesota winter I was pretty shaken up and COLD! An employee from the shop offered to come and help me because I was scared to drive my car to the shop (granted I was only about 2 miles away). I ended up driving it there myself (veryyyyy slowly) but it was such a nice gesture, I will never forget it!

The guys at Good Carma are the most dedicated VW mechanics in the Twin Cities. I had a very intermittent electrical problem which they could not immediately reproduce, but said they will try again until they do. On a third try, they were finally able to catch the problem first hand and replaced the partially worn out bearing. The car was back up and running. And the best part is that they did not charge any diagnostics for the earlier attempts.

I had a wheel bearing problem and was sure it was the front left. I brought it in and they called me and said they were hearing the noise on the right and asked if I would like to replace both. I was sure it was the left and said I can only afford one and I want the left replaced. They called back in another 10 minutes and said we have the car up and all the vibrations are coming from the right were sure of this. If youre only going to do one we think it should be the right but well do as you say. Okay, I said Ill go with your expertise. When I got into the car I was expecting the same old vibration but the car was running perfectly and Im glad I listened to them.

Fair price on timing belt replacement and other work I needed done. I trust the people at GC to do great work at a competitive price. They know how to keep higher mileage VWs on the road without proposing unnecessary fixes.

I had the worst experience of my life there. We took our vanagon there to get an engine replacement. They bought an old blown out engine for it that was irreparable. Instead of eating the cost of their own mistake, they held our vanagon hostage all summer. Then, when we absolutely had to leave to get back to california, they gave it back, then Bill watched us pack it, poo pooing the whole time about the weight. when the engine blew 697 miles later, I had to rent a trailer and tow it all the way to Sonoma county. The shop I took it to said that there was zero compression in the third chamber. It was warped and damaged from the previous owner. When I tried to contact Bill at good carma to get some reparations, he wrote a sad sack letter telling us it was our fault for trying to carry too much weight. It was less than 500 pounds. Two heavy set friends and its all over. Suffice it to say I suggest that EVERYONE stay away from this ripoff artist. I am going to let the BBB know what kind of business they run.

I believe the measure of a great service company is to create a win / win feeling between the business and the customer. I brought my vehicle in for some services (brakes, check AC, etc.). I then received a call back with a quote which I felt was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done. There did end up being some miscommunication on what needed to be done to check out the AC, but they easily worked with me and I left a very happy customer. In short, many companies appear to be great when there are no hiccups, but what happens when (and if) there does happen to be a hiccup? How they deal with it is most important to me and Good Carma passed with flying colors! Ill definitely be back. Thanks Guys.

Good Carma is an amazing Auto Repair Shop/Auto Parts Store!!!A common obstacle in car maintenance is finding an honest group that does great work and has reasonable prices.If that applies to you then you need look no further than Good Carma. Over the years theyve been great to me and my Jetta. I can remember on one occasion they noticed some scratches on my driver side window and had a salvage car sitting around and put in a new window for me for free. Dave is great to work with over there. Ive been in this city for 11 years now and ive encountered some unfavorable shops, and I highly recommend Good Carma. Ill be saying goodbye to the Jetta soon and really hope they service Subarus.

These folks certainly seem to know VWs. I even believe the line they gave us that the problem we had with our battery overheating was down to a timing issue and that they should replace the belt while they were at it. However, Im not convinced they know Diesels. Theyve sent our Beetle TDI back to us with a cracked injector plug that leaked fuel all over the engine and turned our serpentine belt to mush twice now, and when we had them replace the belt, they didnt seem to even understand how the two issues were connected, so we probably wont be taking our diesel back to them. Cant say weve found a better place yet though, but were trying elsewhere for now.

Ive had two of my older Audis serviced by these guys and have never left disappointed. I try to do a lot of the work myself and have gotten stuck a few times. The service writers have been very helpful over the phone to point me in the right direction to assist me.Jordan the general manager is a german auto repair mechanic himself and is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.Sadly my 2001 Audi TT sat for over a year and was plagued with fuel problems and needed a ton of work. The staff at good carma helped me work on a budget to peck away at the large list of to dos. It needed everything after sitting for a long time. Rubber wears out, things rust, fluids settle, moisture in the fuel system and electrical connectors corrode. So, tires, brakes, fuel everything, timing belt, water pump, vacuum lines even a shorted out heated seat just scratch the surfice. If I had taken it to the dealer I probably could have bought a new one for the price of the repairs. However Good Carma found me good deals on parts and was able to combine reapirs to save me lots of money.I got the car for a really good deal and so I thought. They helped me get it purring again and back to peak performance. After a long relationship with the business I finally met the owner Bill and he even came over to my house to mow my lawn when my mower broke down. I understand that sometimes fixing one issue can cause another to arise and in no way ever blamed them for failing items on a car that sat for a long time. They will be my go to shop for life.Thank you Jordan and Ashley for all your help. Most of all thank you Bill for going above and beyond with all the help considering how enormously busy you are.I highly recommend this shop to anyone with an Audi or VW period!

The worst.My wife brought her VW Jetta in to check out a small oil leak. They ended up DESTROYING the motor and then tried to blame it on prior service by claiming the main drive belt had been misaligned.THEN they tried to charge us $4000.00. and denied all responsibility. We didnt pay them a dime, walked away. SO they basically destroyed and stole my wifes perfectly good VW Jetta with only 140k miles on it. Worthless thieves. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Brought a VW to GoodCarma for a pre buy inspection. I told them that car was salvage and where it was hit and asked if they could look at it make sure everything was okay(as the seller claimed). They did the inspection and said everything was fine. I go to get my tires aligned, and I cant because the frame is bent. Not like a little either. The technician at Sears Auto showed me under the car. The Subframe was wearing against a stabilizer bar. Other things were bent and damaged. It should have been a very obvious thing to notice. It seemed like they just pulled the codes and drove the car as inspection and did not check the damage like I asked.Now I have wasted about 5000 on car thats pretty much worthless.

I wanted to love this place, I wanted it to be my new car place where I go for everything. Sadly, thats not going to be the case. Ive owned nothing but Jettas so I figured why not patron this friendly seeming Jetta specialty place? I brought in my old junker to have it assessed for about $50. Pretty thorough, I was satisfied. I asked them if they ever have any cars for sale since I was looking and they said yes and showed me a car they were doing major engine work on. I was told itd be a couple weeks but that itd cost just above $2000. So instead of going to look at other cars, I was just lying in wait for this one. Finally the time comes around and when I talk to them they say its going to be another week. Some more time rolls by and I get a voicemail saying theres a car for me. I was positively excited! The day Id been waiting for!! But sadly no - they told me that the Jetta Id been waiting weeks for was actually going to end up being over $4000 but that they have a Passat for $3000. I dont have $3000. I saved and saved just to get enough for the original Jetta. So, basically ended up wasting several weeks on getting jerked around. I really, REALLY wanted to like this place but Im not sure if Id trust them again for more than an inspection :/
