I always get my oil changes at Honest-1. I like how the oil change comes with a thorough inspection, and that you can get coupons online or through the mail. I think the staff at Honest-1 are very trustworthy. They do not overcharge for labor costs and only recommend services when actually necessary. I also like the waiting area, which has very comfortable chairs, a TV, and snacks. Chris was very professional and helpful. I made a list of the services I wanted, and he checked each one off after documenting them in my file. The ease of mind I get from Honest-1 that my car is maintained in good shape is worth the cost!

Nick over at Honest1 on Portland and 60th has been amazing. If he couldnt get me a same day appointment I was in within 3 business days. More to the point, hes always taken the time to explain what was wrong and what my options were for dealing with the problem. He understands that I have tight budget and tells me what work needs immediate attention and what work can safely be delayed. I value the respectful attitude he shows his employees as well. Ive learned the hard way over the years that its worth paying for good service and Nick and the crew are worth it.

Honest 1 is honestly an absolute RIP OFF. I brought my 2007 Buick LaCrosse in for brakes and rotors, they came back with a $6,600 dollar estimate. The cars only worth 3,500. They found every possible thing that could be fixed but didnt necessarily need to be. After speaking with the manager and explaining I only wanted the brakes done. He came up with a $1,900 dollar estimate. I called a different independent owned shop/mechanic the next day who gave me an $800 estimate on the same work. Thats an $1,100 difference.....when I picked my car up from honest 1 after that, the manager said oh I could have probably got it down to $1,200......so basically wanted to bend me over for 700 bucks....ABSOLUTE CROOKS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE HERE!

I’ve never been here before, but my car had 3 popped tires and bent wheels and it was closest place to where I lived. This was easily one of the most stressful things I’ve had to deal with, but Chris kept me updated every step of the way and did everything he could to make it a quick (as quick as it could have been) and painless process!! Will definitely be coming here again!!

Although my oil pan replacement was an unexpected but necessary repair, the team gave me incredible service by driving themselves to get the necessary parts from their other locations instead of waiting for them to get shipped or dropped off by a different coworker and even completed the work sooner than expected so our weekend road trip plans were only delayed slightly and not canceled entirely. They even dropped my car off at my house to help us get our road trip started as quickly as possible.

Been going here for years with 2 different cars. Great service and professionalism! Also, the Diamond Lake road location has a great waiting area with the most clean and tidy public bathroom I’ve ever seen at a mechanic.

The experience was pretty much terrible. I asked simple questions to be more knowledgeable about my car, they couldnt even simply answer them without mansplaining and truly not answering my questions. They were not up front about honoring a simple oil change coupon and didnt follow through on the itemized list on that same coupon. They did not follow through on communication and let me know when my car was finished. They left grease stains on the interior of the car and were generally one of the worst experiences Ive had with mechanics. I took my vehicle to another trusted shop to verify they actually did the work on the print out costing me even more money because they couldnt answer simple questions. Would never recommend this shop especially if you are femme or female presenting.

These guys go above and beyond. After getting back from a long trip at the airport, my car was not working and I got stranded in Minneapolis. I live 3 hours away and have no friends or family in the area. These guys do customer service exceptionally. They dropped me off(even though it was after hours) and picked me up from my hotel because I had no other means of transportation AND they got the car fixed by the next day so I could go on my way home. Wonderful experience. I would have paid much more at a dealership, and Chris and his crew did an excellent job in obtaining the tires I needed on the same day. I knew the battery and the AC belt were bad, and it was good to know that they identified them quickly. They did not ask to fix something that was not critical to operating my vehicle now. I usually take my car to a dealership, but I will now take it back to Honest1 at 5936 Portland Avenue in South Minneapolis. Thank you Chris and your repair crew! While theyre working on my vehicle, theyve called me to detail problems they may have found, and offer recommendations on how to address the issue. If they do not have a part in-house, they let me know the steps they will take to acquire the part, and give an updated time estimate as to when to expect the work to be completed. Every team member I have interacted with at this location has been really nice, and very professional. Great shop!

Im always wary of auto places, as Ive had experiences where Ive been screwed over (or they have attempted to). Im new to the area and needed a simple oil change and decided to give this place a try. The staff are awesome! They were right in time and reasonably priced. They pointed out one other minor issue and gave me the cost right up front with no pushiness to get it done or attempt to tack on other things. I appreciate their transparency and overall kindness. Honest-1 Diamond Lake is great! They are very kind people and take the time to get to know you. They are also great about explaining what they found with your car. But they wont pressure you into fixing everything at once -- thats important to me because so many auto places make every little thing seem like an emergency. Ill be back!

Repaired my tire fine (expensive), but then told me I had no life left on my rear brakes. I took them apart myself and they still have at least 25% life on them. Just beware them up selling!

I don’t usually write a negative review, but I unfortunately did not have a great experience repairing my vehicle. First, I believe the service was overly expensive. I understand that cars are never cheap to fix, but I wasn’t expecting it to be anywhere near what I was quoted, and with the way I was offered pretty nice discounts if I consented you more repairs, I believe some services could be charged at a more competitive price. Second, and perhaps most frustrating, was that my vehicle was not done at the time I was told it would be done. I had spoken to a representative twice on Tuesday to confirm that my vehicle would be ready for pickup by the end of the work day Tuesday. After the second conversation, I was assured it would be done by the time I got there at 5pm. When I arrived at 5pm, I was informed that my vehicle wouldn’t be ready until the next day at 11am because a mechanic had stepped out for the day to complete a test of some kind. Unfortunately, this change wasn’t communicated to me, and when I arrived to pick it up, I got an apology that didn’t feel sincere, and I wasn’t offered a rental car or any other form of reconciliation for the inconvenience. I understand that things happen, and sometimes things slip through the cracks, but I was on someone else’s time/gas money, and I had to scramble to find transport to and from work the next day. When I finally came to pick up my vehicle, my card was rejected because I’d exceeded my daily limit, and the representative taking my payment just gave it back and said “nope, didn’t go through,” and I don’t think I imagined that there was some intended attitude in the way he said it. I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’ll return. I still have some repairs to complete, and I think I’ll be looking for somewhere with more competitive pricing, that will get the work done on time (or at least communicate any changes and offer temporary solutions), and that will show a bit more patience and kindness to customers who are already there to pay heaps of money for services.

Got an oil exchange here and the service was phenomenal. First desk workers were very polite and were very patient with all of the customers I saw them communicate with. Prices are very reasonable and average compared to others places. Just try and make sure you have their coupons!!

I had a great experience at Honest-1 Auto Care! My car unexpectedly broke down. The staff were able to talk me through what had happened with my car, and fix it within a day. Additionally, they offered a loaner car while my car was being fixed! All of the staff--especially Jim--were very kind. Ill gladly go back if my car needs repairs in the future.

As someone who doesnt know anything about cars and dosent have any one to tell me whats fair and not. Coming here to get my car fixed has been the best experience of my adult life. Needed some semi-urgent work done on my (new to me) Volvo. Dropped it off after work one day and got a call later giving me a detailed explanation of the problem and what the solution would cost me. I told them to go ahead with the work and the car was finished promptly. I personally inspected the work with a mechanic buddy of mine and found no flaws of any kind. Very professional job overall, just a little high on price. Even with the 3 year warranty I still feel the price was a little steep. Would certainly trust my vehicle with these guys again.

Super friendly staff, and extremely professional. They worked easily with my cars extended-warranty contract, and performed major brake work that was completed in less than 24 hours. This local auto repair provider is the best in the Diamond Lake area, and all of South and SW Minneapolis.

Based on my experience, as well as others that have gone here, this place is anything but honest! I brought my car here to get a free oil change since I had a coupon. They told me that as they were test driving my car, before the oil change, that it died. They just left my car on the freeway and since the car was abandoned, the city towed it away. I therefore had to go to the impound lot and pay to get my car out and then still had to get it towed.I never signed anything or authorized Honest 1 to test drive my car before changing the oil. The car was in their possession and they abandoned my car on the freeway. Honest 1 stated they asked my husband multiple times if he wanted to go wait with the car AFTER they abandoned the car and stated my husband just “sat on his phone” - which was not true. My husband was busy figuring out logistics and speaking with the towing company.When I asked the manager to pay the impound lot fees he argued with me saying it wasn’t his car and stated he wasn’t going to just have an employee sit and wait with my car.The manager told me to research my engine as that is why the car died and he then told me to leave and to never come back. In summary, I went in to get a free oil change (which I never received), left with a dead car in an impound lot, wasted more than half my day, and dealt with a disrespectful manager. I strongly recommend you go to a place that is honest, treats their customers with respect, and values your business.

This has been my parents auto shop for years and years, and now that I have my car it just makes sense to come here for any maintenance that is needed. My vehicle had a severe coolant leak and I brought it in to be quoted. Chris and the guys called me about 30 minutes later with the diagnostic and let me know upfront the price. They wee willing to work with me and were quite understanding of my situation and helped me get the fix at an affordable amount. So glad to continue working with them!!!

I went in for an oil change, AC Recharge and to get brakes done because I heard squeaking after a long road trip. I was prepared that my brakes were at the end of their life but, as their name states, they were honest with me that it wasn’t that my brakes were at the end of their life but just most likely had some rocks in the brakes and let me know that my brakes didn’t need to be done. Appreciate their honesty and they have earned me as a customer. Thank you Honest-1!

Easy drop off for oil change and with coupon, was a good deal. However, the hourly rate is a bit high after doing some research compared to what I paid. For refernce, they quoted me at around 130 dollars an hour for labor. This is the only reason for not a 5 star.

Have gone here for years and had positive things to say up until this last time where one guy behind the counter made feel HORRIBLE for not being able to pay for other services that need to be done to my car. They would usually tell me what needs to be done with the oil change and then I would go elsewhere because I am POOR and can’t afford their prices to get anything else done. This last time he proceeded to get intro a yelling argument with my mother and basically said we were taking advance of their services. I can’t afford their services. So, it’s logical that since I can’t afford it, I go elsewhere. So unprofessional. How dare you.

Customer service was great! I brought my car in because I check engine light came on. Chris was able to determine what the issue was and fix it in a timely manner. He also said that if the check engine light comes on again anytime soon I can bring it back in for a free diagnostic!

My family is now on our third car that we have taken to this team and I won’t go anywhere else. We have needed simple things such as oil changes to more complicated repairs such as engine work. This team is always honest, reliable, and more than fair. I never have to worry that they are going to try and sell me something I don’t need. They give me a full list of anything my car needs and then work with me to figure out the things that have to be done and the things that can wait. I was told Id be giving the cheapest option when I went in for an emergency repair and left with confidence that they would give me a good deal. Come to find out they said it will cost $1,800. I Immediately said no, went to another auto shop and was told the price would be $450. Ridiculous. The name should be changed to Greedy & Dishonest-1 Auto Care.

I moved away from the area and came back for a new job. I needed an oil change for my truck and I was very happy to get in a timely manner. Because I drive my truck up and down the highway very frequently I was burning through oil at a more rapid rate than I should have been. Chris let me know right away that I would need a treatment for all the carbon build up for being low on oil. He allowed me to make the decision based on his suggestion before doing the service. The staff is always knowledgeable and make me feel like they are being honest about what is needed and not just trying to gouge me for more money; that is VERY IMPORTANT to me and gives me respect for them and I will be back again!

Such an honest business... they told me they may not be able to diagnose or repair my vehicle but they would try and if they couldnt there would be no charge. They even let me drop it off the same day. Super convenient to the south metro too!

I bring my car in a daily early, even the wrong time. I’m told the car will be done by closing, which is 6 PM. I get a call at 5 PM. Oil change done and tire fixed. Always straight advice, good service, a fair price and trustworthy.

I recently visited Honest-1 hoping to get a tire patched. While that didnt quite turn out to be the case, Chris and Nick took great care of me. There were some discrepancies between what the manufacturer was suggesting and what the local dealerships recommended. At the end, Chris thoroughly researched the situation and made sure the solution we went with was a good one. Ive been here before with other vehicles, and I will continue to return due to the attention to detail and focus on providing a positive customer experience. Ive been bringing my car here for routine maintenance and oil changes for a couple years now. I have always been happy with the work done and anytime something unexpected has come up, theyve always been great with updates. This is my neighborhood place but I would go out of the way to bring my car here.

Ive been coming here for close to 7 years and have had work done on both new and older vehicles. Im always had nothing but the best experience.The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and thoughtful enough to put tables outside since the waiting room is closed during the COVID pandemic.Every time I get work done here, I always feel like the estimates and advice given are completely honest and accurate. I never feel as though Im being up-sold or told I need to do anything other than what actually needs to be done.

I went to Honest-1 to get a second opinion on my car. Walser told me the engine was shot and turns out that was true, but Chris did the diagnostic for free and in the span of a few hours, and explained the issue so that I understood, unlike Walser who just told me I need a new engine. Overall, it was a great experience and I recommend them!

I have been bringing my car here for four years. Always good service. My most recent visit was because of a check engine light. Chris was great and made sure that I understood everything they were doing and that the invoice was accurate. I will always recommend this Honest-1.The first time I brought my car here it was because the Volvo dealer recommended a check up which would have been more than $600. I came to this Honest-1 and they said that I needed an oil change and one other thing. The remainder on the check up list looked good and they would keep an eye on it and recommend when replacement was needed. Total bill was less than $200.00! Thank you Nick!

SHAME on Honest One !! We have had our Nissan Rogue serviced by this company several times in the past. We brought our Nissan in to have a light bulb changed in our headlamp.Once the mechanic stopped wondering around it took less than 10 minutes to changed . That is all that was done, just a simple light bulb.They charged $30.00 for labor and $40.00 for a light bulb.I realize that your business is down but to gouge a senior $70 for a light bulb is shameful. To put this in perspective, I had both headlight bulbs changed last November for $38.00 . I am a business owner myself and realize these are hard times but must we resort tothis ? Also, it was cold and misty outside and they made two senior woman stand outside instead of sliding down the counter and allowing us to stand indoors and still maintain a safe distance since it only took a couple of minutes. I hope the $70.00 was worth losing my business and referrals.

I did bring my car before noon and after 6 PM they have not call me then I called them and asked then what was the status of my car and Chris told me that they did not have a chance to checked my car that it maybe the next day or after. So why they never called me to let me know that they did not check my car?? Also as always they mentioned other repairs that the dealership did not mentioned and make me wonder if they were needed.

The management reached out to me and while it wasn’t resolved due to my work schedule I was satisfied with the outcome.I brought my car into there the second time and was a little surprised at the overall cost but I called 3 other companies who gave me estimates and Honest was within 250 of them.This time I brought my girlfriend’s car in for an oil change, Nick gave us a web discount and also gave us some info on what we can do in the future to it and the pricing on it.Overall my opinion changed regarding this business from the first time I used them from the last time I used them.

Their service wasnt good they offered warrants in all their work but that is not true terrible never use them anymore
